Mom of Teen Accidentally Hit by Lifeguard Truck on Beach Speaks Out

- Two teen friends were lying on a blanket in Daytona Beach when they were struck. The Florida lifeguard who ran over them told cops he was on his way to get food when he accidentally ran over the teens. Rebecca Juarez's daughter was one of the victims. She says her daughter suffered a contusion of her spinal cord and she had a brain bleed. Critics say lifeguards should not be driving around in large trucks. Many beach communities have switched to smaller ATV vehicles that are lower to the ground.
The irony of almost being killed by a 'life' guard
That 1 poor lady WAS killed by the so called Life Guard! Senseless death!
@@staciespur8293It just occur many times so it’s mostly just an accident.
"It happens" 🤷♂️
more like death guard am i right
One would think that life guards will have the common sense to not drive such large trucks on a beach with people lying around. They should be prosecuted for the deaths and injuries.
How incompetent do you have to be to drive on a populated beach and not watch where you’re going
He seems preoccupied with himself.
He said he was looking at the water. Lol
So he admitted that he wasn't looking where he was driving. Negligent.
Precisely! I hope they sue the city where the beach is located and he needs to be fired!!
Nothing is gonna happen to him
He said “bad spot” as if he was partially blaming the victim.. no.. it was bad driving and bad attention skills.
Lawyers hate him lol
@etherealbutterfly something id say in the moment. He can't fathom how it happened so it must not be his fault. It's called being human
The lifeguard could give a hot damn about hitting someone. “It just happened” like he ordered the wrong toppings on a pizza.
He's in shock
Idk why its so hard for people to understand
Not everyone is going to break down
Sorry you didn't get the reaction you wanted
Same person who wouldn’t be looking out for someone drowning, probably let them drown and say “it just happens” 😳
@@Stand_with_IsraelThat’s not shock,it’s nonchalance.
He added BAD SPOT as well
@@putt7515 life guard was in the wrong,he should face charges,of course people lie on the beach 😩
That lifeguard does not give one damn. It’s actually scary
Still don’t understand how he even became a lifeguard, very strange
Very scary! I couldn't believe his lackadaisical body language and remarks. If I didn't know any better, I would think he had done it on purpose just to see what it felt like to kill someone. Sorry but I got psychopathic vibes from that guy. Let's just hope he was in shock or something- however, shock usually doesn't look like that...
He's just avoiding admitting fault
@@mspacmanswords He already did when he said he was looking at the water instead of where he's going.
He will when he gets sued
NO, you don’t need to go to the lifeguard stand and ask the lifeguards where a safe place would be! That’s ridiculous! There’s no excuse for a lifeguard/driver to run over someone. And that guy who was interviewed after running over someone should be CHARGED! He admitted that he was looking out at the water instead of in front of where he was driving. And he acted like he couldn’t have possibly cared less. “It happened,” was his comment. What an uncaring douchebag.
" It's just a bad spot "
No absolutely No
lmao
im assuming he was looking out at the water because he is trained to do so, but its still not an excuse to hit someone like that. They need smaller cars or atvs or something, not big cars like that
@uberhaxornovanongalaktiksk9798 yet he was going to get food....... why is he looking at the water if he's getting food? Wouldn't that mean he's on break?
There should be always 2 lifeguards on the trucks, one drives, the other watches the water.
I don't know how it can be safe (driving and rescuing people) or cost-effective one lifeguard per truck.
@@tabora_its lifeguard instinct.
So what happened to the guy who killed the old lady? Was he held responsible?
Ridiculous.
No Horry County PD is corrupt as hell
He’s on administrative leave. It happened in June, and he’s 70 years old.
This is unacceptable and so unnecessary. He runs over two people while on his way to get lunch! WALK. If this he struck two people in the parking lot or on the road, he would be in handcuffs. There should not be large vehicles on beaches for non- emergency use. The lifeguard’s attitude about running over two young women was so nonchalant - it’s disturbing! Why is he looking off into the ocean when he should be looking at what’s in front of him while he’s driving?
Why was he also using the company's vehicle for a non work-related activity? That's another issue.
Lady, no one should have to ask the life guards that, that’s the point!
She looks like a sir.
Give lifeguards quads/atvs unstead of these dumb giant trucks that clearly arent meant for driving over populated beaches
Weaker impact if a collision happens
Cheaper
Easier to maneuver on a beach
More visibility
I dont see any negatives

“It’s just a bad spot” so your blaming what you did by not being carful on the spot these people chose? What an irresponsible man
He was still too busy looking at the bikinis while he was standing there talking about how he managed to run two people over with the truck.
If it's "just a bad spot" shouldn't he be paying MORE attention to his driving?
That careless lifeguard needs to get a different job...and pay damages to the ppl he killed and hurt !!
He needs to be held accountable for his actions. He needs to be in a cell.
That lifeguard didn’t seem phased at all! What on earth?! Time for that zero to lose employment and be prosecuted.

I think vehicles should be banned from the Florida beaches.
From all beaches
The lifeguards need the buggies, so they don’t have to run a few hundred yards in some cases
Vehicles should be banned in Florida in general.
@@zaijiancelis yeah, they do need them. This is not a buggy tho
@@TOBY-jy7bz Yeah, they should stop using massive pickups and use buggies
Without question incompetence and stupidity.

@@mph5896it sucks because it’s a double edged sword. If he let someone drown and they asked him how he didn’t see them drowning and he said sorry I was trying to make sure I wasn’t running over anyone. Then people would still be upset at them

“Steps we can take” isn’t that a question you should be asking the lifeguard
Driving a truck on the beach is 100% prone to accidents and they do happen.
considering how often people drive on the beach in FL, and the fact that they were only able to find 4-5 people who have actually been run over shows its actually, statistically, pretty safe. accidents happen everywhere. It looks like you have a 0.00001% chance of being run over on a beach that allows trucks. I'd still take those odds
If that stupid lifeguard was paying attention, he wouldn't be running over innocent, unsuspecting visitors to the beach!
Why is the lifeguard supervisor giving tips to people to not get run over, she directing comments at the wrong side 😡
Exactly!! WT....
the lifeguard was way too nonchalant for me...
He seems in shock
Clearly wasn’t his first rodeo
Probably on drugs,

don't tell me that the life guard wasn't arrested and charged. he admitted to looking at the water...instead of you know, looking forward whilst driving? through a beach no less?

They should be in jail!
Arrested
Yes he was driving but whoever is in charge of these laws that even allow a vehicle on the beach should also be held accountable.
Yes
Accountability is key. Not that it'll actually be *enforced*, but... whatever. It'll make people feel better if we all pretend that there isn't a sort of sliding scale on how accountability and crime relate to each other. Not to mention... wealth and connections. 💪😎✌️
They clearly need something with better visibilty than a truck.
The lifeguard should be fired and/or arrested!
Disgusting
This is horrendous and he was only off to get his lunch !! He should be in prison.
There is absolutely no reason for a lifeguard to be driving a freaking truck on the beach!
We can drive on certain beaches in Florida, she should have moved unless she wasn't paying attention. There's certain things to consider. Did he see her.

This is actually why cars aren't allowed on the beach. They should follow their own rules.
They can walk to go find food

How do you not see a grown human being Right there?
he wanted to get food, why drive the truck on the sand then? he is appearently on a break. just use the road if youre not doing your job
You can't just turn off of Daytona Beach and get on the road. You have to go to a beach ramp first which is where he was going.
Take an example from Bondi Beach they use atv's
Street vehicles have no business being on the beach. They should also designate a "no lounging" area to allow for vehicle access if needed.
How the hell?
We shouldn’t have to change our bathing suit or do anything to not get ran over that should be a common decency and they should get fired
This, to my knowledge, has never happened on Bondi beach. One of the most CROWDED BEACHES in the world.
its also a much smaller beach though. These beaches in fl stretch out for miles, Bondi is only a small cove. What these beaches really need is what they have on Long Island: fenced off driving lanes that you cant set up your gear in, and cars can only drive through that lane. i understand if they need something bigger than a buggy, but it should be sectioned off from pedestrians
@@MJW173 That’s even worse. A smaller more crowded beach and they drive around on their ATVs and never run over anybody.
Its not an accident, its negligence. Big difference!
no charges?
Well it did happened in Florida, so it doesn't surprise me.
Unbelievable & This Is 2024 ? 🤔
This is asinine. Yet again it's up to the potential victims to protect themselves and those in charge just get to keep on keeping on...

These “accidents “ should NEVER happen!
They should honestly only use the trucks in emergency situations or when not on the beach

I know that this is supposed to be a sober report but Noreen cracked me up!! "Unless you want to coordinate ( I think she means "cordon") yourself off with yellow tape... Here I am, don't come near me!"
