/* ---- VIDEO INFORMATION ---- */
Ok so House Of The Dragons Episode 5 is now out and the entry centres around a big wedding between two of the major houses. As far as weddings go I've seen worse when it comes to Game Of Thrones and all things considered it's probably a big success.
Cheers.
As always there's a tonne of things to talk about and throughout this video we're gonna be breaking it all down, going over the book differences and also what our theories for the future are. We won't be spoiling the major deaths or twists but we might be discussing some things to add context to what you see so if you don't want anything potentially ruined then I recommend that you turn off now. If you enjoy the breakdowns then please hit the thumbs up button and make sure you subscribe as we cover the series every week.
With that out the way, thanks for clicking this, now let's get into House Of The Dragon!
-
Now we open with the Vale in what the book tells us is the year 115 AC. You'll likely recognise the Vale from the main Game Of Thrones series and it's a big area where people like to go Sky Diving.
Here we see Lady Rhea for the first time and Daemon has talked about here at numerous points throughout the season. Both in the show and book she's referred to as the Bronze Bitch and she comes just as fast as she goes with us getting her death in the opening. Now as she rides out hunting she comes across Daemon wearing his hood incognito like he was last week. She mocks him for potentially returning to consumate the marriage and says this line.
perhaps the sheep are prettier
This calls back to episode one when Daemon said the same thing.
-
The book also remarks on this line and Daemon goes one step further by saying that everyone in the Vale f**ks them. So you can see why this guy isn't that happy, also I dunno if that's a beard or wool around his face but moving on. Sheep are mentioned basically everytime the Vale is brought up with Daemon even saying that his sword Darksister was meant for more than slaughtering them. He hated the Vale, feeling like he was forced to take up this crap Kingdom which is why he tries to move away from his wife and onto other ones. - Развлечения
Let us know your thoughts on the new episode
Honestly this was the most problematic episode for me. How did nobody stop C Cole from leaving? Also how the fuck does the king live another ten years.
Poor Laenor's heart.
good
How was sir cole just allowed to kill that guy and get away with it?
I enjoyed it, however there is an encroachment of GOT Season 8-type illogical actions/choices going on. As much as I want to love this, it damages my immersion & involvement.
I feel like they're making all the right departures from the source material. I've been hooked every episode. Also shout out to brilliant actresses who play young Rhaenyra and Allicent because I think that's it for them
the source matiral shouldn't be taken to heart since it is by second or third accounts
@@Megafreakx3 agreed
Maesters are like the “writers” for fire and blood so I wouldn’t consider the book as fact it’s wrote as second and third hand accounts and the show imo is showing what actually factually happen.
@@Megafreakx3 but what about the Rings of Power??
Yes already started hating allicent
that breathless moment of alicent interrupting viserys' speech by wearing green literally tells us that shit is about to go down is so priceless i love it
Martin has a thing for pissed off alcoholic women in green dresses.
green is also the color of jealousy and you can’t tell me that she’s not jealous that the king is setting rhaenyra as the heir and not aegon
@@anniesaxton8163 maybe in the book, but in the movie we could see that at first, she doesn't want Aegon to be the heir (most likely that she just accept Rhaenyra to be the heir as the one Viserys chose and for the sake of their friendship which she knows that Rhaenyra has always wanted to rule) we could see through the way she talk with her father Otto that He's being the one who push Aegon to be the heir, until the moment during their farewell Otto told her that the realm will not accept Rhaenyra as their queen and Rhaenyra will have to put Alicent childrens on sword to strengthen her claim, which of course open Alicent's eyes about the true nature of Rhaenyra that she will not have mercy on her children, she could tell from the way Rhaenyra lie to her. which is why she have to prepare Aegon to be King and i am sure any mother who loves her children will done the same, protect her children no matter what.
@@daisybenoit6608 That is pretty much what Cersei did too. She knew that if Roberts will had been enacted, putting Ned Stark in a caretaker position until something else could be sorted out, she and her children would be in danger. Ned already tipped his hand that he knew her secret so she bi-passed the will, made sure Joffrey took the crown and fitted Ned up as a traitor, all after taking steps to see her husband have an "unfortunate accident". A pre-emptive strike of a boss.
Alicent has moved from being a pawn of her father's to making boss moves herself. Motivated by protecting her children.
I really enjoyed it when Daemon came to taunt Rhaenyra, she starts taunting him back and he gets angry because once again he loses his sense of power and control around her. She's pretty much the only one who can put him in his place. However, this is the second time in a row he abandons her to fend for herself.
Yes, I love how he almost step back when Rhae played along.
It’s sad he seems impotent as he ages. I think he’s suffering sexually fr. and George loved doing shit like that lol
Oh Daemon is the worst. He makes it worst for her in public. He can’t just support and build a strong arm for the princesses claim to be smooth. he rather be crazy like Beyoncé said 😂 it’s something weird where did he go during that fight? Was Joffrey sent to Crispin Cole?
Daemon is worst than ppl think I mean we saw him get the criminals and win a war but he did it suicidal, he was scheming all episode 4 to take the princess “honors” or make it seem as such then he knows whos he guna kill next based off his wedding looks and creepy speciating. Hes guna kill everyone to get to his Neice. “BronzeB” total suprise to the fans im sure too
@@clautastic9186 She's not playing, she does want to marry him.
Loved that Daemon stayed seated while everyone stood up when the Queen had her unpleasant entrance
Good catch didn’t even notice that
He did that to the king the first episode too lol.
I didn’t see that
Wow didnt notice😄 i will go te rewatch now as I already did for some scenes! Wow what an episode this was!😮
Daemon doesn't care about any of this crap because none of it involves him lol so he's just living for himself and his wants and needs. That "I'm second born and I'll never see the throne" energy
Let’s just have a round of applause for Rhaenyra’s actress 👏 what a job she’s done and I hope she gets a big role in the future after this performance
@Pugna. but his heart is pure
@Pugna. What's so wierd?
@Pugna. it’s more appreciation of work and talent… she did do great
That hairdo at the feast scene was absolutely hideous. What possessed them to style her hair like she has a couch pillow on the top of her head.
The one thing I can't stand about her character is how often she has her mouth open. IIRC Daenerys did the same thing in GOT. I'm not referring to them talking too much, it's a mouth breather kind of thing.
I'm assuming both characters were directed to do it (its probably not the fault of the actresses). If that's the case, I really want to know what the intention is. Perhaps it's a subtle way to display genetic issues resulting from incest while still casting attractive women.
I liked that when Cristan shot his shot he wasn't wearing his armor, mirroring his emotional vulnerability
I feel sad for him.. Most men can NOT withstand when a beautiful woman that you like PUSHES you to bed even though it's your DUTY not to sleep with her
I blame Rheanyra more for this
@@goodmimosa8040 “most men cannot withstand…” not all men are not the cocks with legs you make them out to be. Don’t infer that CC is innocent. He’s not.
@@goodmimosa8040 yep. One night of excitement for Rheanyra ruined Christan’s entire self worth and honor. I don’t think she cares or is even aware of how much it affected him.
@@jflowers513 she's infatuated by daemon.
@@goodmimosa8040 Why should you feel sad for him. He broke his vows, then tried to make her leave behind her duty to marry him, not because he loved her, but because he figured that was the only way to restore his honor. He then snitched on her and himself the 1st chance he got, ruined her ceremony, killed an innocent man and proved that he isn't worthy of being a knight because he's weak and emotional.
So if wearing green was a symbol, or an indication of war, Viserys should have done something about it right then and there. Really shows how weak and gullible he is just letting things slide all around him.
Or he's just simply oblivious...
For the sake of "peace" he did nothing
If he was going to act he should've acted when Rhaenyra was found guilty
A king would of had that Lannister dude sent to jail for treason after throwing shots at his heir
The look on his face said it all. She declared war against his house and he was very well aware of it. Targaryans fought for sister wiving but not for Queens...... it's really too bad.
I was thinking:
Sir Christian, be quiet!
Let the Queen "ask" the question before you confess!
🤣
I think this is one of my favorite episodes, i just hate the fact that Alicent is upset that Rhaenyra didn’t tell her about Criston Cole, I mean she didn’t tell her she was talking to her dad like every night sooooooo😅
Nice episode and the changes from the book simplified the storytelling. Ser Criston’s confession to Alicent and then her stopping him from killing himself after further shaming himself explains clearly his flip from Rhaenyra to supporting Alicent/Aegon… I also enjoyed the flirting between Laena and Daemon… and the “challenge” from Rhaenyra to Daemon… All set up for future events…
But I was so excited for daemon and laena but they rushed there story
@@samer.4660 considering they're trying to get to the older versions and on the verge of the dance, it sucks but they can't really afford to go too in depth with every arch:/
Simplified the storytelling. You can say that again. For the simple minded.
“U no wut kullor Oldtown raises thur bannas fer wor in?”
GREEN. *seal claps*
For a full disclosure, I am loving this series. That being said, why aren't there people getting upset that this TV series differs from its source material? Whenever something like that happens, I see people complaining.
@@davidmun1601 One reason may be because the source material had “in world” accounts from different characters that told a variety of different stories about the same events… from their perspective (and the “truth” was not so clear) That leaves some flexibility to come up with something that those “in-world” characters could misinterpret… My biggest issue is that time has been condensed and major events made to fit into the few weeks/days that each show covers, rather than the months/years covered in the source material.
Ok like I know this isn't even remotely the coolest part, but can we get a shout out to ser harwin strong? He just decked his way thru the crowd like a bouncer and just picked up rhaenyra and walked away.
He's been such a bro all season.. dancing with her this episode, bouncing his way thru the crowd to get her, keeping her secret when he finds her as a boy, and nodding at her when she killed the boar.
Sir CC: "Let's runaway"
Ray Ray: "and be commoners? ...Uhhh no thanks" 😂😂😂
LOL Word. The guy is incredibly naive, and beyond over-emotional. As someone else has already said, he gives out emotionally immature, religious zealot vibes. Ray is selfish af, but that guy is also not okay! lol
@@selmahare exactly!! He's too sexy to be this needy 🤣
@@selmahare he lost the only thing he ever had that was worth anything, all for a woman
@@Captain_Insano_nomercy He never had anything to begin with if his boss can coerce and harass him into having sex with him. He’s a servant. That whole “oh I’m a knight, I had something” crap is exactly just that, bullcrap. Knights are servants. He’s doing far too much. In real life he would have to see a therapist and probably get on meds. Dude shouldn’t have slept with her if it was going to be such an issue for him, and then he could deal with the consequences of rejecting her instead, if that was going to be easier on his zealot self.
@@selmahare yeah I mean I just don't get your point. People are messy, and not one of us possess a time machine to go back, and with clarity say "oh this decision will go poorly for me". I doubt he ever imagined the princess would want to bang him, and until you're in that situation you can't know what to expect. Sorrry he's human?
I like that Daemon is actually the one to end his marriage. Shows he’s directing his own future despite the unfortunateness for his wife. Paul you’d done a good job explaining Alicent’s religiosity fueling her angry which the show hasn’t explained as fully. They do convey the unfairness she would feel over her father’s dismissal. Ser Criston is an interesting character where many men would be content being Rhaenyra’s paramour but his honor wouldn’t allow it.
But that makes daemon so evil and I don't like it
@@samer.4660 He is evil but also can be good with the people he love. Thats why he is an amazing character.
@@rzv7758 not that evil because if he is GRM not love he's character
Ser Criston is interesting but what is his honor compared to what Rhaenyra stands to inherit? He is just tripping in the immediate aftermath of his sexual encounter with her, but once he realizes too what she is inheriting, the throne and the realm, which are larger than them and life itself, he'll come to terms with her plan. And especially now after the stunt he pulled at the celebration
@@americdej1367 i very much agree but i think now he’ll side with alicent
Even with Alicent’s backing can’t really see how Criston could get away with what he did let alone remain a Kingsguard. He literally caved a guy’s head in with his fists in front of multiple witnesses and on top of that ruining the king’s daughters wedding celebration.
I dont think too many people would have missed him. Especially Corlys
If no one saw how it started, it will just be brushed as a “bar brawl”. If anything, in namesake Joffrey sworn shield of the heir of Driftmark bethroed to the princess, has less of a standing than Criston as Knight of a Kingsguard and sworn shield of the princess
@@ferrm1992 couldn't have put it better my friend
I don’t understand why he wasn’t apprehended and brought to the gallows..
@@PursuitOfContent Who is going to arrest a Kings guard? Other than other Kings Guard. It would be an act of treason and the Kings guard won't turn on their own brethren over Jeffrey being killed. They would first assume he had a good reason and unless the king ordered it then he wouldn't be touched
I really liked this episode, the foreboding and ominous feeling was felt throughout so much of the episode but you could really feel it once the gathering convened and Alicent walked in wearing green.
Every episode has been like this. The tension and ominous feeling fills every scene. It’s almost like a horror movie without, just without the jump scares. They’ve done an incredible jobs at this, with the dialogue, despite having GRRM story and events in the back. It’s so well written. Truly masterful writing. And everything else of course.
@@pressrepeat2000 I agree. I remember the first 6 seasons of GoT and always having an excited anticipation for the next episode and I find myself having that same feeling for HotD. Good writing can still exist, I was losing hope these last few years.
Funniest part of the season so far, Criston self snitching when Alicent was about to ask about Daemon!😂
I don't understand why Alicent is so pissed when her and her father have been the shadiest characters of all except Damon. They pushed up and manipulated the king to marry her, ruined her friendship and you mad that Rhanerya is rebelling?
I believe her thoughts are for protecting her children. Friends or not, they will be the first to go if the king dies.
@@rebeccasteen True.. Very True
She's not pissed at Rhaenyra at all. At first she was genuinely concerned for Rhaenyra's sake, but now she realizes that Rhaenyra becoming queen will likely lead to the death of her children. Alicent is creating allies and gathering scandalous information on Rhaenyra to protect them
@@rebeccasteen And in this world that means being killed to remove you permanently from any chance of your thrown being challenge. I do think she was pissed she was lied to when Rhae swore on her own mother she was still a virgin but the main thing I think is with Otto gone there is no one she trusts to protect her if things go south and he also put that doubt in her mind before he left that she would be safe from Rhae.
Alicent is going to become Cersei+Margeary next episodes... There's no way she's letting anything slide.
Classic GOT vibes. I know some hate referring HOD to GOT but how can you not? This chess playing and politicking is what made it so amazing. Well done on this episode.
There's definitely a maester conspiracy if you believe this version of events. What was up with the Grand Maester shutting down the subordinate that tried to offer an alternative to what's obviously not working?
The Hightowers command the city where The Citatel is, they are close to the Maesters. I'm sure they are up to something.
yes it was unsettling how the grand maester shut his assistant from trying a new method. it may simply be that he is egoistic or is on someone's payroll to keep the king weak
50/50. Could be they are conspiring with the Hightowers, just as it could be another case of an old man not wanting to be told how to do his job by someone half his age. Pride can get people killed after all.
To be fair, Vis lives for another 10 years after thid
In the book, there is actually another Maester that comes in with more effective treatment, for Viserys, using different methods, whereas the old maestor was using some out dated. Rhaenyra and Alicent actually have an argument about it, each thinking their own Maestor is better suited. This is what I think they are alluding to. They even name drop the other Maestors name “Orwyle”
I think Viserys’ health is so poor as he is no longer bonded with a dragon. After Balerion, he never bonded with another. This is not the best status for someone wishing to sit that throne.
Interesting hypothesis 🤔
I haven't read the books because I refuse to start any series until all of the books are out (which seems like a better and better choice every year) is there a specific reason he never bonded with another dragon?
@@WhitneyDahlin Balerion was the oldest and biggest dragon, he didnt think any other dragon could compare after
Very cool thought
@@WhitneyDahlin but will this series surpass the books? I thought it was just one?
What an episode! I think my favourite scene was Alicent and Lord Lyonel’s scene. I like how we really get to see how everything falls apart. One rumour, one lie, jealousy, betrayal!!! The story is building so many layers and I love it!!! Seeing the two quiet and naive characters come together made a great pre show to the wedding! Again I’m on the edge of my seat for next Sunday
They really make House Higtower a favourite in this episode, and the theme music when Alicent arrive? That was amazing, make me go with Team Green 💚
The only thing missing in that wedding scuffle scene is King Robert shouting out "stop this madness in the name of your King!"
I love Viserys character and the actor is amazing. But I need him to say “why tf is this happening to me?” Before he dies
honestly yes
Yea, people can say what they want about him, but he is staying true to himself and trying to do the right thing. Maybe not the best king material but I respect him
Crazy how Ser Criston Cole thought his honour needed to be restored more than Rhaenyra taking the Iron Throne as Queen. And was hurt that she didnt go with his idea. She even explained it to him nicely. Spared his feelings for the moment. 😒
I think it was because he only has his oath as a kingsguard and nothing more to his name. While rhaenyra is a princess. Like what he said in one of his dialogues
I know I was like wait dis about you now Criston?🧏🏽♀️
I think the only thing on his mind is simply being together with Rhaenyra. Just runaway together and the hell with anything else.
as Jaime said "Things we do for love" 😁
@@XXx-bj1ni Except that still doesn't make any sense. Rhaenyra would have to give up her claim to the throne and would almost certainly be assassinated by the remaining claimants. Rhaenyra has a lot more to lose by traveling the world with Criston than Criston has to lose being Rhaenyra's play toy
I interpret it as he knows what he is proposing is crazy, but he is somewhat blinded by his feelings, and him mentioning his honor is out of desperation realizing that her answer was always gonna be no
It’s awesome that everything “bad” concerning Daemon is left from the King’s POV: the comment he allegedly made “Heir for a day”, if he slept with Rhanyera, or even in the party it would appear as he was trying to kiss Rhanyera (although they were arguing) and the crowd did not allow to see. We only have the rumor or a hunch, but we can’t be certain
So true. Masterfully filmed. Everything is filmed from the eye some beholder rather than the audience’s, and we just get glances into how others see the events.
Daemon is definitely not a "good" person, but yes, calling him bad would not be accurate
@@davidmun1601 he’s like a shit-stirrer
One thing I also noticed was how the Grand Maester *maybe spelling wrong I dunno* declined the other ones mixture and suggested the leaches again, even though he said the mixture would be more effective. I’ve seen numerous theories that the maester wasn’t really trying to stop the spread in the first place.
There’s a anti dragon rulers conspiracy that goes back to the slaves that escape from Valerya and formed the free cities while spreading their influences in old town in this case most definitely. I believe Baelon was a victim of theirs as well. This is their power grab time and it’s now or never for them as I see they all keep saying. A Hightower is hand (Vice President) lol the maesters have dug in and struck wen the royal family was very vulnerable. Check out AEGON the conquerors lore and crowning etc see the perspectives and trust you’ll hate mellos and all them
@@kingtarly499 The Maesters should do everything to keep Vis healthy then. He is the dragons bane.
@@GaryCrant lmao no he’s no fool just not made to rule.
I think you got things wrong in saying that they condensed the week of wedding celebrations down to one day. Yes it was a change from the source material (which, as we know, is not written as a novel but as a history book written by maesters who could have got things wrong!), but the king made it very clear that the plan was for a week of parties, tournies, feasts, with the wedding at the end. But when the first feast goes completely sideways, they just act out of necessity, and just do the ceremony there and then with no audience in attendance. It's an enforced and sudden change of plans that derails the original plans for a grand festival.
They clearly didn't condense it. They wouldn't have left Joffrey's blood on the floor for a week for the rat to feed off of lol.
You are 💯
Another reminder that when you are being accused of something, let the accuser specify what they are accusing you of 😂
Episode really picked up towards the end, that wedding was so damn tense 😂 We need an episode trailer breakdown now
I have to say they’ve set up the war to come beautifully. Everyone’s sides are clear apart from Daemon who is just walking chaos and I love it
It amazingly continues to get better and better. What Daemon did to his wife by implication was cold as ice. Your analysis truly helped me understand the finer points especially since I never read the books. The ‘Green’ wedding didn’t disappoint.
But that not cool make daemon evil
@@samer.4660 Daemon has always been evil. Don't get him wrong. He is an interesting character but far from good.
@@samer.4660 A lot Grey char in asoiaf universe and get to attached
@@a.r.s I think calling Daemon evil is too simplistic. Better term would be ambitious. He wants to be the king; he just does not care how.
Great episode, yet I honestly don’t enjoys Alicent’s role. She made the first step in potentially destroying her friendship with rhae and rhae honestly didn’t have to give her the time of day after that. Now she’s enraged she was lied to, I do enjoy her finally showcasing what a true queen should be like. I just don’t like the picking and choosing, love your father as you please but he used you and played you as well.
I'd have to watch it again, but I'm pretty sure Rhaenyra only said she didn't do it with Daemon, not that she didn't with anyone. But I think Alicent is more traditional and is pissed because a woman should have pre-marital sex especially with someone that took a vow to be celibate. For a lot of us, that is an annoying opinion and who people have sex with is none of other people's business.
@@jasons5916 She claimed to still be a maiden...
I think she realized her fathers words as true. How will her child be safe with someone who is willing to break vows. She is in danger so she is making a preemptive strike. Calling on her house so publicly, is a warning to rhae that she knows her true nature.
@@buffaloblack3993 What exactly is Rhae’s true nature ? So far to me she is throughly herself behind close doors and in public, she speaks her mind, does what she wants, and feels what she wants. As well as she openly goes for what she wants. She lied once and now there is some “true nature”. Alicent is crazy for thinking their friendship would stay exactly the same after marrying and having kids with her father, she seems to have forgotten Rhae doesn’t only look at her as a friend but also at my fathers wife (a kiss up to her dad honestly). Alicent literally doesn’t even hold water, anything she hears she’s telling another regardless of the reason why.
I think her actions make total sense for the character, though it doesn't mean she hasn't been hypocritical. I just think she's totally a product of her environment and age, and her decisions are pretty understandable. I guess she likely feels resentment that she has to go through what is essentially marital rape whenever her old, scabby and flabby husband beckons her, she's burdened by having to be a perfect queen/lady and now mother, and is locked away in a castle while her former best mate - who is almost like a sister to her, as they grew up together - gets to choose her own husband and yet complains (and rightly so, as Rhaenyra's position is also s**t), is going to get the throne and yet complains, and is out there losing her maidenhead - jeopardising her position and likely to be banished, which I don't believe Alicent wants - and then lying to her face (again, I get why Rhaenyra lied) 🤷🏻♀️
I think the betrayal of allicent is way more personal than Rhaenyra sleeping with someone, after all allicent and her father manipulative the king.
agreed
How did Alicent betray anyone she's just keeping the peace

What an ending! Best episode of the season hands down. Daemon has quickly become my fav character he’s just here to watch the world burn and I’m here for it lol
Yes but they make him so evil like jaffrey
This was the best episode. So much to unpack but brilliantly done.
@@samer.4660 He is absolutely nothing like Joffrey, Daemon is fearless, Joffrey was anything but lol… yes he has his issues but they’re all born from never getting what he really wants. He’s clearly aligned himself with Rhaenyra and well if you haven’t read the books I’m just gonna stop right here lol
Oh yeah Daemon is my fav character.. he's my new spirit animal
@@samer.4660 Not at all. Joffrey was a spoiled child and his cruelty was for his own amusement. Daemon is an ambitious prince who is only cruel in pursuit of power and to those outside his family. Still a massive prick but a much more likable one

Sir. Cole just murdered the future king consort's personal servant in front of everybody, hit the king consort himself AND, what is worse, during his engagement party.. he has also put the heir to throne herself, in danger, as the attack happened so close to her that she had to hide. The fact that he wasn't immediately arrested after all that is a major plot fail! I'm a bit surprised that aside from only one other person, I seem to be the only one in this comment section, being put off by that. Big plot fail in what has otherwise been a very well laid out story.

They like each other or something ?
@@Idk_bro12340 harwin Strong will be the father of Rhaenyra's children.

if youre gonna get married in westeros dont have a wedding. just go to the medieval courthouse and call it a day. i beg of you

Best advice ever 😂
Sir Cole just murdered someone and he hit the future king console. How come he's not arrested?
Yes, I thought the same. That didn't make any sense. Not to mention how he's also put the heir to throne herself, in danger with that attack. It happened really close to her, to the point where she had to hide. The fact that he wasn't immediately arrested is a huge plot fail. And it's *king consort btw (not console), sorry.
Also, just saying, the actress who plays the Queen looks _amazing_ in green, that's an incredible color on her.
It was a beautiful dress and her hairstyle and color made it even better.
pity this is her last episode she will be replaced with the older version in the next episode
@@blackpanther6885 it is a shame, these young actresses have been _fantastic._ Gonna miss King Viserys as well, Paddy Constantin plays such an affable, likeable king. So naturally, this being GoT, he must die.
@@cleverusername9369 yeah atleast paddy will be here till the end of the season.
I love seeing this notification right after watching these episodes and other Marvel ones as well. Thank you for all the hard work you do to be the first to get your reviews out to us!
I have no idea how you get these out so quick each week, great vid as always
I've seen so many people casting Daemon and Rhaenyrs as heroic because they are the "strong" and "sexy" characters, but they actually have not been very heroic. Likewise, Viserys has been ridiculed as weak and scorned, when he is probably the most decent person in the show. It's really a testament to the show how complex and multifaceted they have made these characters. It also shows some of the weaknesses in human nature where we idolise ruthless and powerful people. No wonder the world is in the state it is in.
Felt bad for King Viserys. Poor guy kept getting interrupted over and over. Ser Criston obviously will be one if not THE character we like in the first episodes and then start to hate him more and more til he dies and everyone cheers
i hated criston this ep
Fuck that, I cheered when Rhaenyra dies in the book. She gets the death she deserves
It goes to show that the "gratuitous sex" that people complained about when GoT first aired is actually there for a reason. It is the motivation for so many things that the characters do. It is a prison for women who's "battlefield will be the birthing bed". It is the pressure of highborn men to produce heirs or kingdoms can fall into chaos. A vow to forgo sex is the standard of a Kingsguard (or a Night's Watchman), and we see the consequences when the vow is broken. How it can change a person from one of duty to one of reckless emotion (Cole). Highborn men can sow their oats until they enter marriage but a highborn lady must keep her maidenhead to be worthy of marriage. Sex, in this setting, motivates choices, makes alliances and breaks them.
I know this is simplified but that part of human nature is what makes the stories so compelling.
Fun fact: Ser Criston's beating Joffrey was unscripted. The actor just got PTSD flashbacks of the original series' Joffrey and started beating the crap out of the other character with the same name and it was caught on camera. The beating was so severe and brutal they couldn't continue filming so they had to roll with the take and write it in to the story.
hjshsshshhhsj
Cameraman just kept rolling
Thank you for having this up!!! This episode shook me and I can't stop thinking about it!
ETA: Subscribed!
Me too
Gotta say my heart was beating fast when the Queen came into that hall dressed in emerald green!
Mines too 😂 actually it was beating fast The Whole wedding scene 😂
Cersie would have been had the HighTowers blown up like she did Margerie.
Yeah it was a great scene ❤
It's implied that Daemon was responsible for his wife's death in the book as well, although it's done more subtly. A number of people in Daemon's way die in suspicious circumstances.
Because Daemon is secretly Bashim from assassins creed
I make sure to catch your episode after each show! Love the breakdowns.
Loved that remix of the intro song at the end!!
Alicent being so mad at Rhae when she wasn't exactly pure when he married Viserys...and that had been implied by her father's words in Episode 2 "Will you visit the King tonight? And she has a disgusted face🙄 She seduced the King so he would choose her as Queen and then gets mad at Rhae for betraying her
She didn't sleep with the king though
She was disgusted because the day was near
I thought it was her father’s idea to see the King. I don’t think she seduced him as she didn’t seemed to enjoy the sex.
She ultimately still choose to do it, your friends mother just died. And since your father said so you immediately went in and was seducing her father. Imagine your friend consoling you while seducing your father behind your back. Yet she feels she has the right to be mad at rhae for lying about what she did on her personal time
@@adoremiaa8440 No literally. I did read someone say though the reasoning for Alicent being upset is because she feels she has no one to trust in the castle any longer. Since Rhae swore her virginity to her. Especially with her father being dismissed. Although , Alicent is still the last to judge for sure.
If Rhae told the truth there would be no issue
Solid sendoff for the current cast. Bring on the new next week
Also, glad the tradition of killing Joffreys continued.
The more Joffrey's die at a wedding feast, the better
LMAO
Last part... absolutely golden!! lmao
Excellent! So glad I found your channel.
Really appreciate these breakdowns. Keep up the good work
HOW do you put these out SO fast? I'm not complaining, we love it! But there is no way you don't get these episodes before the official release time
some countries realease them earlier. like india & russia for example.
Certain RUclips review channels get early access from HBO so they can review the episodes.
5 minutes and this man put out a video already the work rate of Paul is unmatched I feel for the editors that work for you lol no rest
I think he gets early screeners.
Ya he does, otherwise there is no way he could get it together this quick lol

Yeah probably just the pressers
@@Puncherjoe1 he's definitely that good lol, but still gets early screenings every week.

Another fantastic video!!! Thank you!
Also, did you notice how the kings thrown fell off him when he fell. I felt that was a metaphor for the future as well....
Sorry...not the thrown, I meant his crown on his head fell off.
@@nicolechilds1077 ironic, metaphorically speaking it’s him falling off the throne
This was such an intense episode.
Criston was already ready to blow up by the time the knight of kisses came over to fuck with him.
Posting before watching your video.
I really, really enjoyed this episode. They did an excellent job building the tension throughout the wedding. So many plot-points coming to a boil at once. Such tragic consequence at the end.
This is the kinda stuff that I loved early GoT for. Actions have weight and the consequences are realistic and difficult to deal with. No characters are just getting lazy, free passes for their actions.
Thank you for all the book references, I couldn't get through it but enjoy knowing the variance!
That show is getting better in better . My boy Daemon is probably blind cause Rhea is pretty
The actress age jump is a bit of a bummer. I really like Young Rhaenyra
As I haven't read this book, I find your backstories fascinating and insightful. Thank you. Now on to go read the book...
Thanks great break down much appreciated 👍
Awesome episode!!
Honestly, Daemon, Crybaby Criston Cole, and Alicent were so petty this episode. They’re lucky I wasn’t king, I would have been had them Dracarysed up. 😤

Absolutely my favorite channel for this content!
Love the breakdowns and insight into the details of the episode that I am always oblivious to. 👽
An ASOIAF wedding without at least a death is considered a dull affair. I loved this episode! So much going down, Laenor loosing his lover, Criston loosing his shit, Alicent finally growing some brain cells, so much. Daemon is a right royal c*** to do that to Rhea. And poor Viserys, my man is just wasting away. Someone give him something for the pain and let him die. This show continues to impress since episode 4. Excellent television.
"Shall i fetch the leeches mi'lord?"
Can’t wait for the next episode. Really loving this series.
I've seen it the 2 new actresses is really jarring and quite frankly ruins the show.

Ryan and Miguel I could have listened to the after show for hours but I guess this will have to do until next Sunday. lol! So excited for the next episode and will miss the younger cast members they did an outstanding job. Bravo 👏👏👏
It would have added so much depth if rynera would have spurned christen about breaking his wows due temptation. This would have brought out the deep hatered that the books talk about.
I’m sorry rhaenyra*
That's a great idea actually
Hope you have a good night everyone

*Rhaenyra:* _"I find it a bit greasy for my taste."_

_"...will not change your appetites, nor will it change mine...when it's done, each of us dines as we see fit."_ 🍽
A worthy successor to the "Oysters and Snails" monologue...
Was Joffrey the duck or the goose?
*_"Brokeback Dragon"_* 😁
_'The Rings of Power'_ it ain't!

@@m.worthy lmfao omg stop 😂 we love laenor though that lip was so bad he couldn’t kiss his wife aww lol
Lmao like say cuckuls to fish lmao rhaenyra could of said I love cuckuls too cousin now let’s party at this wedding and go do us after lol
Also I love how Ser Criston is both someone we can pity and kind of hate at the same time. He lost his honor yes and was put in a position where saying no wasn’t an option. You feel bad for him up until he killed Joffrey. It makes you see how desperate he is to regain his self worth and that makes him all the more pathetic when he begs Rheanyra to give up the throne for him. It is fascinating to watch well written characters in stories.
Love the episode, absolutely loving the show. Brilliant breakdown, per usual 👍🏼
Thank you
Love that show, thanks for commenting and explaining things
Lady Rhea was my absolute favorite character in this series... for the 45 seconds she was allowed to live! Wicked.
This was another great entry, loving this series so far. Now we know why she chose green, awesome detail. Awesome breakdown
Just discovered your channel and really enjoying these breakdowns. I'm enjoying these episodes, a nice mixture of story telling and combat to keep everyone happy.
Thank you
Good review of the episode. This series is so good, if this is the "quiet" episode, then i can't wait to see more "fast ones" because i felt they set the "table" and the feast begins soon.
It makes no sense for Criston to be left alive. Surely, Leanor will get him killed or Lord Corlys will ask for his head after punching his heir🙄
Viserys would be stupid not to punish him but he won't because we need Criston in the Dance of Dragons...I want a practical reason for Leanor not to seek revenge lol
Lord Corleys didn’t seem to be a fan of his sons preferences so maybe he let him get away with it as it served his purposes and punished his son at the same time
the series is deviating a lot from the source material regarding Ser Criston.
lol even if leanor or lord corlys asks for his head, it won’t be delivered. Christon is on alicent’s side now so he has immunity. Especially now Viserys is on his last legs, Queen Alicent’s role will be even more amplified
@@ideozublake8036 the queen has zero control. only the king rules. this show has sent all of Westeros to hell
I’m super convinced Daemon Killed or got killed everyone who stood in the way of him and his Neice marrying which they do. And EVERYONE dies which is why the black council is sooo small with 4 adults and 6 kids
This is a very enjoyable show, only getting better with each episode!
I think you are the best at breaking down House of the Dragon, and Ryan is the best at breaking down Rings of Power. I'm happy you both colab, you both are fantastic! I still watch both of your video breakdowns.
Lionel: *go fuck shit up and get the princess*
Harwin: "Consider it done"
Starts mowing people down like flies
Now im scared to go to weddings. Holy crap, the episode was badass. So jealous of daemon walking across the room like a million bucks and he can still bag any princess
You had my subscription when you said that lyrics 😄
thank you for putting subtitles i always appreciate it when creators do that. it's raining so hard where i am so i can't hear what you're saying
My favorite part about all this has been Alicent. It always seemed to me in the book she seemingly did this for selfish exploits, but seeing this from the perspective that 2 people got their heartbroken by Rhaenyra has been an absolute delight.
What an episode, brilliant😮💨
Thank you! 😊
