yes, it is truly such a beautiful piece of music. When I was 14 I used to play this 30 seconds over and over.
When I very first the Lamb album many years ago, the "Fly On a Windshield/Broadway Melody of 1974" section made an immediate impression on me. Moreso than the opening title track did. Its trippy and moody also; the things I like most in Genesis music.
I can't put into words how this song makes me feel. It is just... amazing.
Here is where the short "heart beat" guitar riff is introduced. It reappears throughout the album.

For as long as I can remember, the lyrics of this authentic poem have fascinated me and have been encrypted, syllable by syllable, eternally in my memory, since the first time I heard on music in an almost perfect way and narrated in the ideal voice of one of its two authors, Peter Brian Gabriel.
The lyrics he used to write, together with Anthony George Banks, were worthy of historical poets of the English language, almost reminiscent of talents of the level of Edgar Allan Poe. From its origin as a genre in 1969 until the beginning of its strictly commercial decline in 1976, “progressive rock” was capable of inspiring, and in fact produced, authentic poems. The poems that I refer to herein were of such beauty that they even transcended the music itself that accompanied them, in itself the most sublime of contemporary musical languages, which further exalts the literary merit of those lyrics. Maybe progressive music inspired those lyrics, or maybe those lyrics inspired the beauty of that music...I don't know.
This constant is accredited not only with the piece that is shared herein and other portions of the album to which these belong, but it was also manifested in multiple works of that time and of that musical genre, exemplary and particularly in the lines of the lyricist Peter John Sinfield in all the pieces of “In the Court of the Crimson King” and of Ian Anderson in the complete work of “Thick as a brick”. These examples constitute living testimony of that mysterious “prog-poetry” relationship, inseparable and as compatible and natural as that of the painter and the brush.

Something in this, I think it’s the soaring reverb on guitar that reminds me of Dave Gilmore- amazing and beautiful
This is a real album where each song works fluently with the ones next to it whilst allowing for variety that doesn't disrupt the atmosphere present.
Being of a certain age of course I can attest to the fact that the lyrics kind of convey what was happening in American culture at the time.
