Connecting an iPad to the internet using an ethernet cable - USB C Ethernet Adapter
In this video I'm showing how to connect an Apple iPad Pro 2020 to the internet using a cable to connect to my internet router modem.
The process is simple. Just connect the USB C to ethernet adapter to the USB C socket on your iPad, this can be an iPad Pro 2020, iPad Pro 2018 or the new iPad Air 4 2020.
You will then see a new option in settings, Ethernet. This means that the iPad has recognised the ethernet adapter.
Then you connect an ethernet cable, also called a cat5 cable or internet cable, into the ethernet socket on the USB C to Ethernet adapter.
Finally, plug the other end of you ethernet cable into your router. In my example I use a small 5 port switch to plug my internet ethernet cable into, this switch then plugs into my internet router modem.
You are now all connected up to the internet using a cable to your router modem for your iPad.

That video had already buffered in advance, it would have played without internet at all. You should have opened a webpage instead to show that internet was working. This wasn't a good test.
Never knew you could do that! I assume this method will work with apple’s new M1 systems. BTW, I just ordered the MBP and decided to follow your advice. I just got the 1TB system 😀 cheers!

What happens if Ethernet doesn’t appear
hey david! if i were to connect to my router using this method, can I make changes to my household’s wifi using the ipad? or atleast see its basic details like iP and the password in my device? further, if i were to use this method, will i get disconnected from the wifi after removing the cable setup? or will my device automatically remember the wifis details and stay connected? we’ve had a bit of a problem with our wifi setup where we changed the pass but it isnt working and our household has been locked out lol. hoping for a response. great vid as always, cheers!
