How to use wired Internet Ethernet on M1 iPad Pro 2021 for wired internet USB C to Ethernet adapter
In this video I'm showing how to connect an Apple iPad Pro 2021 M1 to the internet using a cable to connect to my internet router modem.
The process is simple. Just connect the USB C to ethernet adapter to the USB C socket on your iPad Pro 2021, this can be an iPad Pro 2020, iPad Pro 2018 or the new iPad Air 4 2020.
You will then see a new option in settings, Ethernet. This means that the iPad has recognised the ethernet adapter.
Then you connect an ethernet cable, also called a cat5 cable or internet cable, into the ethernet socket on the USB C to Ethernet adapter.
Finally, plug the other end of you ethernet cable into your router. In my example I use a small 5 port switch to plug my internet ethernet cable into, this switch then plugs into my internet router modem.
Now your iPad Pro 2021 M1 is connected to the internet using a CableCreation USB C to Ethernet adapter.

That would be very handy at times. 👍🏻
nice seeing you today Dave stay kool mate!
Yes, that was great seeing you in the park. Give me a shout next time you’re down these ways. Cheers, Dave.
I had this problem with poor WiFi and I got a 3 pack eero mesh network and it really is like night and day
Would this work for streaming using the AV adapter? I have an old iPad Pro and use the hdmi adapter for Netflix, it has a lightning port for but if I can use this adapter it would help with the buffering
Can we use this adapter for m1 macbooks
It’s pitty u don’t have 1000Mbits fiber to test the speedtest. I need something like this for my work. Often I need to check the internet speedtest and mostly 1000Mbits via fiber. I don’t like to have a laptop with me to do this. Thanks for sharing.
Mine has the Ethernet bit in the settings but I have no connection when I turn Wi-Fi off
Bro please help me I have the Ethernet adapter but when I use it my ping become 460 my phone is Xiaomi
does Ipad gen 9 work for the ethernet connection?
I never thought about using those. Maybe give me the advantage in COD 🤔
Alright Tone. Defo gives me an advantage, without out it I don’t get an internet connection 😆 Cheers, Dave.
Tones that was exactly what i was thinking about 😂
Are there any experiences as to power consumption and battery usage when connecting to the internet via ethernet vs. wifi? I‘ve been connecting my ipad pro previous gen from yours via ethernet and am experiencing higher battery usage. Maybe i‘m halucinating, but would be good to hear if somebody had already made some experiences. Thanks in advance.
Good Morning, I need a hub to connect to ethernet, printer, 2 monitors. Can the new iPad Pro (M1) handle that? I need the touchscreen for different reasons. What suggestions would you have?
Hi Mark. You can't use two monitors. The only thing you can do is have one monitor which is just a mirror of the iPad, everything else you can do, check my iPad Pro playlists there's a bunch of videos showing all the other stuff you are asking about. Cheers, Dave.
How to do lan id login ?? I have connected to the lan i
Hi David! Nice Vid! May I ask if this is applicable for ipad Air? Thank you!
Hi Dein. Sorry, I've not tried with an Air. Cheers, dave.
Should work as it runs the same OS. iPad air has supported ethernet since iOS 10.
Best regards, me.
@@FuenzyXD hi how about ipad mini latest gen 2021
How can I hotspot my Ethernet wifi to my ipad
I bought this to use on my 13 pro max. Is there an adapter that works for this?
why in gods name would you want to use ethernet on a phone lmao
Just on plug in? Better have dock to also charge and headphones 3 things plug in at once...
Sometimes people just want one simple connection. Plus, most USB C hubs don’t have Ethernet, I’ve also covered hubs and docks and have more coming. Cheers, Dave.
Which adapter has the Ethernet & headphone input?
SSK USB C hub model SC207
هل يوجد حل ؟ لقد حدثت ipad IOS15 ولن يعمل المحول إيثرنت
Hey can this adapter drain your battery life ?
Hi. It has a very minimal power draw, you probably wouldn't really notice. Cheers, Dave.
Aree youu fromm Scotlanddd
No. Liverpool (England).
Isn't it supposed to need a power supply with it?
With the "Apple USB 3 to Lightning Camera Adapter", I need to plug a power supply along with an Ethernet to USB adapter
Hi Eric. Most flash drives don’t require the extra power, the normal power supplied by the Lightning port is usually enough. The extra power would usually be needed for something like an SSD drive. Cheers, Dave.
HI David thanks for that. I was actually asking about using that Ethernet adapter without an additional power supply.
I know that it does require a power supply with Apple's "Lightning to USB 3 Camera adapter".
Especially since you are powering an iPad, I imagine you would definitely need a power supply with the Ethernet adapter?
@@ericd1934 Hi, Eric. Sorry about that buddy, I've done loads of videos about iPad stuff and in the comments I just glanced at the thumbnail and thought it was one of the videos about drives. Everything I said before about connecting flash drives without extra power and having to use extra power for certain SSD drives is correct. However, with regard ethernet. No, you don't need the extra power, as you seen in this video. Don't forget, there's also power coming from the router or hub that you connect to as well. Apple's camera adapter is probably using power for two reasons. First reason, even if the attached device doesn't need the extra power, the extra power on the Apple adapter will also be charging the iPad at the same time, so no drain on the battery with the connected peripheral. The second reason, Apple know that the lightning port is very weak as far as supplying power and that it definitely won't power certain devices. Having the extra power on their camera adapter will ensure that all USB peripherals will get enough power. I think the name "Camera adapter" is a bit misleading, as the adapter can be used for a bunch of stuff and not just stuff to do with cameras. I hope this is a cit clearer. Cheers, Dave.
I'm getting ethernet option but no internet. Do I need to set IP manually or what do I need extra?
your devices should always be using dhcp to get their IP address (that means automatically configured)
Works for ipad pro 12.9 inch m2 chip?
Yes, I have an 11” M2 as well and it works. Cheers, Dave.
Is it possible to use on ipad pro 2018 ?
I tried it on my sisters iPad and yes it worked, the ethernet option popped up and I turned off wifi and it could still use the internet
What do u plug it up to
Sorry, I don't understand the question.
I tried by connecting one end of Ethernet cable to cable modem, Xfinity, and other end to adapter, Ethernet to usb-c, then usb-c to iPad Pro.
I buy this adapter and its dont work ,help me please
Sorry, I don't know what's wrong with yours, mine works. Cheers, Dave.
Do you have iPad Pro with USB-C port (not lighting)? Do you have Ethernet cable? Are you plugging into a internet service provider modem? How are you connecting to internet?
Don't help me at all
