It will load with automatic loaders. Im pretty sure the tractor beam loading of torpedoes is just for when you depleted the whole pre-loaded racks. Consider the enormous cargo bay this ship has, and that its connected to the torpedo room (interior-wise). You could carry 60 extra torpedoes in the cargo bay, for a person to reload your racks once you emptied them on an Idris.
One thing I think CIG should definitely implement with org gameplay is discounts/loyalty advantage by ship manufacturers if these orgs either exclusively source from them or buy a huge amount at once. I would love to see org making economic decisions in favor of a brand like RSI or Drake above all else.
The tractoring of torps is such a massive oversight with inertia being in the game for such a long time now, and the known bugs/jank that come with the tractor beam system. Loading torps should be able to be done in motion/combat. There's no reason to make a combat ship need to withdraw almost completely from combat to reload its main weaponry. Make it a minigame done at a terminal, it doesn't have to be so extraordinarily different to every other ship in the game. Make the process time consuming, don't make it nearly impossible to be done while maneuvering. None of the other capital ships have a catch that comes with its main armament, its just unnecessary
You are not reloading the tubes they are showing the reloading of the torp racks from the cargo bay that rotate and load like the racks on a Tali do, the racks hold 28 torps total and can be reloaded after use.
I have one of those and it was exciting to see the NPC version in game. It's just a slight bit smaller than an 890j but flatter proportions. The Idris tour was pretty sweet too. Owners of that ship are getting hooked up a flying FPS map with a fighter and shuttle bay.
getting this done by IAE would be a major milestone for ships in SC, after the fail of the BMM (communication) There's a big backlog of big ships. So then they should aim to release one to two big ships each year,
They'll be able to slam the perseus, arrastra and galaxy together in record time as they're going to be reusing assets with some personal touches for variation
They are not loading the tubes they are showing the loading the torpedo loading racks, freeze video at 3:17 and you will see he torps stacked right next to each other each tube gets its own rack of multiple torps just like the Tali.
I know I sound like a broken record, but what is lacking for the medical gameplay? I'm so ready for my galaxy and apollo to come out. I know one of the main things stopping the apollo is the drone bed thing. But they can release the ship and still work on that drone bed.
So how big of guns are we expecting on the Polaris? If it's going to hold it's own against other capital ships, I feel like it's gonna need to be pretty big. Size 7 like the Perseus?? 😄
Polaris has such a Battlestar Galactica vibes it’s gonna be fun to crew up. I’m kind of disappointed on the loading torp with trackor beam, they should have done a move mechanical approach that a player or two can control robotic arms to load the torp tubes and arm the them
@@merc9nine I understand your meaning, but big ships are meant to be multi crewed. Not everyone is going to like their role, but that doesn’t diminish their importance.
Upgunning turrets - yeah definitely seems like it needs it, look at those piddly turrets! But to hold its own against capital ships with turrets?! Why? Which ones, an idris? That seems nuts. It needs turrets primarily for fighter defence
It’s not going to hold its own against an idris but bigger guns to combat heavy fighters and small to medium multi crew ships is important. Currently a Connie would outgun a Polaris with 4 s5 guns
It's actually very smart and follows the most basic idea of ammunition. Imagine the torpedo tube as a pump action shotgun, it has 1 in the chamber + 5 in the magazine automatically reloading the shells after each pump. When that magazine runs out of shells you have to manually reload it 1 shell at a time until max capacity, allowing you to once again automatically load after each pump. The torpedoes follow the same premise, automatic until empty where you then have to reload the torpedo racks 1 by 1 until full
The racks hold 28 torps you don't need to load until after those 28 are fired but if you chose you could have someone restocking the torps from cargo if you have extras with you.
Loading a torpedo with a handheld tractor beam feels so half-baked, like it is a placeholder mechanic. I dislike the overuse of "beams" in this game overall, since it feels like a cut corner. If you dont want to do this robotically, then at least make it a chair with a more heavy-duty tractor beam turret. Either way, this just ensires that an NPC can never perform this job.
Starting at 4:09 so you like the idea of having the designated person in the torpedo bay moving torps with a tractor beam into the torpedo loader coz it adds gameplay? Low IQ statement right there... Imagine the guy moving the torps with a tractor beam and then he drops it coz he was turning too fast the tractor beam cuts off, sounds like a great way to endanger the ship's crew safety. Plus isn't this game big on realism? Do you really think that far far in the future a super advance capital ship wouldn't have any type of mechanism for efficient torpedo loading?
Imagine you're loading a torpedo and your character goes flying from g forces and you hurl a torpedo around inside the ship.
This exactly. That can’t be the way they load torpedoes that wouldn’t make sense.
20 torpedos are held in a rotary autoloader, when they talk about loading torpedoes, they are talking about from storage to the autoloader.
@@NukHind I hope your right
Can't wait for desync to cause you to clip the torp into the ship and cause it to blow up

Never thought of this but I actually like this idea a lot, could be a good way to make sure not everybody is using the same meta ships.

yeah, like size 12 javelin torps are automated... its so unfair
There is barely any inertia on capital ships, and only players, no interior objects or cargo get affected by inertia of the ships movement.
I have one of those and it was exciting to see the NPC version in game. It's just a slight bit smaller than an 890j but flatter proportions. The Idris tour was pretty sweet too. Owners of that ship are getting hooked up a flying FPS map with a fighter and shuttle bay.
