I’ll rephrase SaltyMike. “CIG have no more excuses” They have accomplished their tech demo blockers with Server meshing. It’s time to start work on making the game part of the tech demo. They have a massive team with skills and well refined processes, tools they have made over the years. All to efficiently and quickly make the game bigger and hopefully enjoyable. It’s about damn time for them to start seriously making the game. No more stupid ship sales tactics, no more tech blockers. No more fucking around with flight models. Simply making the game. I don’t care about anything else.
The FPS is starting to be much better for sure but the biggest issue for me now is the lag spikes where my game freezes for 1-5 seconds. This happens very often during PvP and it’s incredibly frustrating. In additional to better FPS performance, I really hope CIG prioritizes trying to fix the lag spikes as it’s the biggest issue right now imo in regards to frame rate
I wonder if that is a result of shader compilation hangups. There are ways to do shaders realtime (without hitting the fps) now but I guess that will take time to work out.
The NPCs contribute more to the liveliness for me than the players, but yeah. 4.0 with 500+ players and full NPC population runs magnitudes better in every way than 3.0 did even with just 5 players and almost no NPCs.

@WarlockSRB with respect Idk why he is testing SC with 32 ram. When I play SC on 1440p Very high I user over 32 gb and I've never crashed to desktop with 64gb of ram ddr 5 cl 30
I've been having BSOD crashes on DX11 ever since I bought my 6950xt. Vulkan never worked for me before in any game, but after messing with bios options all of a sudden vulkan works - and now I can play without crashing. SC feels so smooth
The 6950xt with DX11 in SC crashes my computer (black screen, manual reboot, sometimes the fans go wild). Vulkan has fixed the issues (mostly) for me too.
@@SapereAude1490 Trust me we're not going to figure it out by comparing builds - it's a very common issue with the 6950xt and it affects people seemingly randomly Some people fix it with over/underclocking, some fix it with undervolting, some people fix it with a clean install, swapping from Win 10 to Win 11 and also vice versa, AM4 and 5, etc. It's seemingly random
their target for static meshing was 15 fps so from what I've seen they've handily beat that target. haven't had a server that was less than 20 tick rate so far.
nice thanks for the video . great that you put us lot first instead of playing the game for yourself and getting aUEC. I was thinking of getting a new monitor at some time over the next year and was looking at 4K 32" QD-OLED but looking at the Frame drop from 1440 to 4k Im not so sure now my 4090 may do better but not 100% that much better as for DLSS as long as it looks great then may be. I'll keep on thinking and hope like you say this is the start of CIG moving forward at a pace more than walking
No problem- been a busy few days of testing but fun! The 4090 is an absolute beast and significantly faster than the 4080 so you would do better at 4K. You'd still probably want to mess around with dlss. Let's hope they pick up the pace now!
I'm running 4k with a 4070 Ti Super (haven't run SC at 4k yet) but in general most of the games I play work well in native and top out around 165 fps (gpu limit). I play a couple of titles that are more demanding and the good news is that DLSS Quality at 4k is a MUCH higher quality upscaling result than the same scaling factor (67%) at 1440p and it gts me over the hump in terms of frame rate if I need it.
Great video , performance has been so much better , its. Been a nice surprise. But 4.0 has been rough , with missions being unplayable, the odd server crash , ships spawning issues . But we have had these issues before and they fixed them , looking forward to the mid January patchess
So far I've really enjoyed 4.0. Been a backer since 2012 and, to be fair, this is the best it has ever been for me. Changing my ram from 5600 to a g skill 7800 made a huge difference too. I9 14900ks 4090 32g gskill 7800.
Before vulkan gave us low but smooth frames, now it's just smooth frames so it's caught up. The fun comes in a few months when CIG adds the graphics effects that were waiting on vulkan, like global illumination and ray tracing.

Thank you for the video. I agree with you this is the top of the development hill. In a way it is all down hill till release. Thanks again for the video and I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.
I’m still hearing a lot of people with MFD performance issues, especially in certain ships, namely the 400i, Prowler and 890J. Most of them have nVidea GPU’s, it happens on both Vulkan and DX11 and seems to somehow be a main thread issue, possibly gpu issue. The visor hud or the radar is not the problem, it is specifically the MFD’s. It’d be great to see some testing of it, if you can even replicate it!
Before I upgraded from an older AMD R9 board, when the 'self status' screen was up, I'd lose 50% FPS. Just switched that MFD to shield and all was good.
Great video, have you felt the slowdowns whilst running around the Pyro stations? I expect it's likely server related? It almost feels like periodically running through some viscous fluid, looks like it may be happening at around 09:30?
i think they need some kind of system that "predicts" what needs to get loaded onto the GPU memory next so that when you come out of Quantum or the jump tunnel .. that stuff that needed to be loaded already has been loaded while the system had time to do so without running into bandwidth limits from loading everything new all at once and dropping frames because of it.
Same! I'll try to pick up another 7900XTX at some point if the prices drop a bit with the new cards. I will do some more extensive vulkan testing with the 6700XT and 7600 that I have in the new year though!
I'll have to give it a try using a 2070 Super. Was never an issue in the past and my RAM was the biggest thing holding me back a few patches ago until I upgraded.

This is an interesting one. Nvidia is being stingy with the amount of VRAM they're putting on their new 50 series cards, and you can't upgrade the RAM on a GPU so game studios are going to have to adapt somehow.
@fnunez the main reason i am keen is that I only have 8gb vram and ive seen usage go down from 7.9gb to 6.2gb in 4.0. wondering how it fares for other cards.
Yes thank you CIG for all your hard work, especially those working over the holdays to keep this thing rolling. Despite all the drama around decisions CIG deems best for the game, we really appreciate the hard work your all doing to make this dream a reality.
The only fear of Pyro I've had. Was jumping to Pyro. And being unable to jump back. Every time I went through the tunnel I came back out in Pyro system. Never stanton.
I play on a Blender 3D workstation with 2 4090's and still have issues with photo mode. The HW requirements for their max possible graphic settings are over the top and that is not an issue i hit often with games.
I've been stuck in stanton... everytime I try to pull my corsair out a bajni if destroys it and I have to keep waiting 20 minutes... smooth when doors open, but I still fall through the planet and can't leave the damn hangar....
I have a 3060ti and a 4080 super. It seems to matter more with the ram that I have. The fps jumps when I introduced the increased ram. One of my pcs has 32 gb and the other 64. Very noticeable. I had 32 and moved to 64 and it was amazingly better.
I also have had a better experience going to 64. Just using task manger while game is running it show my 32 maxed out and cpu running 92% Now cpu 69 max and 60% ram. Ram is one of the cheaper upgrades. I have all non use programs closed and with just windows idle it was 18% on 32.
I'm running a 10700kf on a B board 32gb RAM RTX2070overclocked. My performance has improved since server meshing, vulkan and upscaling have been implemented. Cities are still a bane on my fps but it's looking good. Great video as always!
Since 3.24 i cant turn on Vulkan anymore. Getting Black Screen, PC want to compile Shaders in den left corner but nothing happens. Then crash. DX11 works but Vulkan was so smoth😢 // 7900XTX, 5800X3D, 32Gbyte 3600Mhz CL16. In 4.0 i had a "memory leak" for the first time. It was a long lession and i had much more stutter. Ram said full. I restartet the game and 3Gbyte less and it ran smothly.
I've not had any luck with Vulkan in 4.0. there seems to be a critical crash when Optimizing Shaders with my 7900XTX. Though I haven't tried rolling back to the previous drivers yet.
It does feel that we are at somewhat of a turning point for the game. It would be nice if now the major systems are in place they can further refine and improve everything without tanking the player experience each time they release a new patch
Yeah they say 500 but me and a couple other people noticed if you go into your comms on the mobiglass it says 600 player cap and the meshing is at most averaging Shard/Server: 400-560/30-70 and even at 70+ players on a meshed server the lowest i've seen the server fps go was at Orison in EPTU which was 9 server fps but since launch of the 4.0 preview i've not seen it go below 13 server fps which is impressive considering in 3.23 they struggled to get it to stabilize at 8 and would often dip down to 3-5 server fps back at the beginning of this year, their priority of optimization has really payed off and I really hope they don't stop there! Early hrs of christmas morning at 4AM when there we less players on EU as per usual theserver fps was a solid 30fps and I was getting 70fps on my ships outside the commons I wanna see the same performance i'm getting now but with more servers and more players for this to truly feel like an mmo I wanna see that 1000 player per shard by at least a 4.x patch and then eventually hopefully at least 1000 per meshed server in the future and maybe one day the pen ultimate goal which i've been told is their aim chris once himself I think in a previous Citcon (I was skeptical but the guy who wanted to prove it linked it to me) The idea of a single shard no regions at all one day one large multimeshed open universe with non-static meshing and no regions at all star citizen's players in one big single universe! in the past I wouldn't of thought it possible but now from what i've seen of meshing working and how far it's been optimised by CIG I would say... it's at least not impossible i've seen how they managed to bring cross server playing ping down to 80 I used to get 600 for a while on US 500 on AUS and 250 ping on Asia now it's always around 80-100 pin regardless of which region I choose and that was before meshing this came in 3.23.2 if i'm not mistaken maybe 3.24 so i'd say if they can push that further so ping is just simply a minor inconvenience not an unfair home server advantage then I could say no more regional shards not being an issue one day i'm not saying it will be great at first but CIG have a habit of pulling an uncut diamond out of the hat at the 11th hr so I wouldn't put it past em those network and meshing teams are magicians to say the least! my biggest hope is the next event Invictus next year we'll get to see this meshing really in action at the Expo in A18 and then my fav IAE later in the yr at NB cause the amount of players i've been seeing at micro and fps counters aside theres been no microstutters or anything it has been butter (keep in mind I have a decent pc build) been running with everything at high (game quality set to very high) and 3840x2160 with DLSS at Quality 66% on Direct X but to say I got a ROG.S 4070Ti OC Edition and a mere Ryzen 5 5600X with 64GB 3200mhz RAM i'm impressed that they've made it so much optimized so quickly I used to get lows of 15fps now i'm getting lows of 38fps in the commons a place that used to tank my fps if they continue to optimize both the client side and server side I can see myself playing the game on native 4k sometime in the not too distant future perhaps even before I upgrade to a 9900X3D or 9950X3D which I plan for the end of next yr! and the fact that doesn't feel impossible anymore for a 5600X says alot about their efforts in optimizing the game! now i'm not expecting rocket league levels of optimization but if there was anyone who could it would be CIG but only if they wanted to! can you imagine the WoW level of player counts per area your screen just flooded with thousands of players at an IAE or Invictus event those large empty rooms wouldn't feel so empty anymore, it would also mean drawing a crowd for public in-game race events like XGIII lvls would be amazing, I got 2 Ranger TR's i'm ready for some death races! also a last mention of their optimisation, while I wasn't able to watch someone elses discord stream on a server at the same time I was able to run photomode for cloud on a stable enough fps without microstutters or lag well done CIG I can see photomode not being for photos only if the optimization continues and know CIG how they're balls to the wall with everything else I wouldn't be surprised if they kept pushing it!
Strange that I have only a few frames drop when I switch from high clouds to photo realistic. I'm just leaving it in Photo mode now. Time and time again I'm happy that I bought an AMD 6800xt (16GB). I was worried about switching from Nvidia, but I've been pleasantly surprised.
6700xt here and an i7 10th gen. Running on Linux and after the update I do see the huge change in Performance, seems like towns however are indeed not really affected, same ish low FPS there >
Performance for me is now the best it's ever been. Massive improvements in the reduction of stuttering and such. FPS is up too and loving the client performance of this patch. Though the elevators are deadly and clip you again, hangars... are a wreck and so many other issues like ships inside ships going missing. I cannot store my ships they just get destroyed. I have a 13900ks on water, 96 GB 5600 mhz ram, 4090 on water and gen 4 NVME by samsung. I play at 4k, 120hz 10 bit monitor with Auto HDR using Vulkan. I use a seperate GPU (2070 super as I have it) to drive my secondary displays as they are also 4k and 144hz gsync, I do this to maximise game performance. I do prefer the HDR in Direct X but sticking to Vulkan as I find it smoother and I do not seem to get the frequent crashes it causes some players. I use max settings and clouds with quality DLSS and it runs well for me. Quality isn't that noticeable but the next step I really don't like the shift down in quality. No motion blur, chromatic aberration etc. As I play on a TV essentially at 65 inches I use a fov of about 110. I want to use V-sync as I am getting over 120fps in some places but when I turn it on it locks to 120 for a short bit then creeps down to 60 and stays there. I have to disable it to get over 60 anywhere at that point. Unsure why this is, any advise on this one? I can get over 120 alot more frequently than ever before but would like to let the 4090 not run at max non stop if I can. For that matter it's not that common for me to go under 60fps with the current settings so far.
I haven't noticed better performance for the client. I spawned in Stanton, servers were full with SFPS around 10. The better I got was around 15. But it was also like that on the EPTU so I'm not surprised. What really bothers me it's many bugs that I encountered. Note that a friend who only has 16gb of ram had disastrous performance on 4.0 compared to 3.24...
I was impressed by the substantial performance improvements. Once we get Vulkan in a good place and virtualized geometry in we might actually get higher player counts without a slideshow. I know 60fps is substandard but I think it’s a reasonable target for this game in more intense scenarios.

holy shit. 10 servers on a shard? wasnt expecting that much. honestly i think cig should lower the player count. like imagine the old 100 player with that 10 server shard? or even just 4? the playability would be so good. something that sc has been struggling with for far too long. the whole "when it works, its amazing". and well the server meshing makes it work better, but not so much when u scale the player counts up with it. im still prob going to wait for full 4.0 release before hopping back in tho
I wish my performance increased, but it seems to have decreased from 3.24. In 3.24 I was getting 30-55fps in Orison, and up to 100 in space, but now on 4.0, I'm getting 20-35fps in Orison, and just barely over 60 in space. Seems no matter what I change with settings, resolution, or even if I enable upscaling, nothing changes, I'm very confused. That said, I had the same issue on an early 3.24 build, but the last one cleaned it up for me. Running 1440p with an R5 5600, RX 6700XT and 32GB 3600.
Pretty similar situation for me (RTX 4080 I9 9900k). I guess the bottleneck is the CPU but ram usage is also to take into consideration because 32Gb is not enough anymore.
@@Tenno-Heika I never see it using above 26GB on my end, so don't think RAM is the issue. As for CPU, don't think that's the issue either. Based on past experiences, I just think we have to wait for a patch to correct the issue, it's likely not on our end. Edit: Just checked and seems game is trying to use 34GB, so perhaps that's the issue, but there is no reason for RAM utilization to be going up like that, so just gonna wait for updates and see how it goes. Just use RTX HDR if you have an Nvidia card, you will get a better HDR experience as well . This isn't a CIG thing to fix. Their current "HDR implementation" is lazy and simply using the built in auto-hdr feature of Windows. The method is basically SDR-in-HDR color & gamma curves, based on the piece-wise sRGB EOTF curve. But it only works on DX titles.
@@NL0Gwensterwow. Just tested turning on HDR in Nvidia CP and using Vulkan. While I may have lost a couple frames, it more than made up in image quality and stability overall. Thank you so much for the reply!
I've noticed in this 4.0 that CPU usage has gone wayyy down for me, allowing much better performance. my 14900hx was pegged at 100 for the most part in taskmanager ( ingame overlay and nvidia overlay always shows incorrect cpu usage in SC always has) This patch I have tons of headroom and seen my 4090m hit 99% usage which is great because before it was always around 30-40% usage.
This is very promising, I might have to boot it back up. I wonder why CIG are making the warp so GPU intensive, it could be some simple parallax stuff out of an Amiga demo by Crusaders 30 years ago and look just as good. No need to add to my power bill for no discernibly good reason. As a PS, just saw 5080 expected pricing and holy moly, I'm glad I got my 4090 in September 2023 at the lowest price it ever had. Now it's all sold out, the new generation will make that look cheap.

one thing that surprised me after the 4.0 preview hotfix patch was... that I didn't have an "automatic best setting"?! no matter which patch, I've always had a "best setting" for the graphics where I actually only had to turn off vsync and motion blur! today I played the game for the first time after the hotfix and I almost had a heart attack! under 20 fps in A18 and when approaching stations "single digits" in places, 3 minutes waiting time until the station spawns... panic attacks when the whole asteroid field suddenly pops up and the FOV is at the lowest level...? only after I set the GFX settings to the usual values did it work with a "comfortable" 40 FPS in A18. why is CIG TSR the standard setting????? and with DLSS I had a bug that said it wasn't available at 57% and below (speed)?????
The purpose of Vulkan is not necessary a better framerate (for now), but a more efficient at compiling shaders for instance. Its MUCH faster in Vulkan, where you almost have zero stuttering. In this case, the CPU and GPU are capable of doing more and thus, eventually, the FPS might be better in the future when they actually optimize the game assets and landing zones. There is a massive amount of area with memory leak, unoptimized assets.
The best thing about vulkan is that it doesn't stutter at all, the fps is about the same for me, but the stuttering is completely gone, making the world of a difference. Please mention this to the peeps if you get the chance 🙏
Just when they fix one essential feature for the game to be playble, another one gets broken (contracts, quantum travel) which makes the game unplayable again. It's like 2 buttons, you press one, theother closes, and if you press the other one, the first one closes.

I’ll rephrase SaltyMike. “CIG have no more excuses”
They have accomplished their tech demo blockers with Server meshing. I don’t care about anything else.
saltymike is cringe
The FPS is starting to be much better for sure but the biggest issue for me now is the lag spikes where my game freezes for 1-5 seconds. This happens very often during PvP and it’s incredibly frustrating. In additional to better FPS performance, I really hope CIG prioritizes trying to fix the lag spikes as it’s the biggest issue right now imo in regards to frame rate
I wonder if that is a result of shader compilation hangups. There are ways to do shaders realtime (without hitting the fps) now but I guess that will take time to work out.
@@gerarderloperand using vulkan the shader is precompiled also, I think this is what they are heading to
Sounds crazy, but check the polling rate setting of your mouse. A friend of mine had almost the same stutter issue.
The NPCs contribute more to the liveliness for me than the players, but yeah.
4.0 with 500+ players and full NPC population runs magnitudes better in every way than 3.0 did even with just 5 players and almost no NPCs.

their target for static meshing was 15 fps so from what I've seen they've handily beat that target. haven't had a server that was less than 20 tick rate so far.
You do tend to see close to 15 when your server fills up to around 100 players

my 4090 may do better but not 100% that much better as for DLSS as long as it looks great then may be.

We have about a 70-30 split between Stanton and Pyro. Mostly because of the wipe, people rebuilding basics so we can go visit Pyro more often
Thanks! Yeah on the stations I've definitely felt them but not really anywhere else. Hard to know exactly what might be causing them!
i think they need some kind of system that "predicts" what needs to get loaded onto the GPU memory next so that when you come out of Quantum or the jump tunnel .. that stuff that needed to be loaded already has been loaded while the system had time to do so without running into bandwidth limits from loading everything new all at once and dropping frames because of it.
Thanks CIG, Keep it going, the dream is getting real!
I'd love to see these stats with an AMD GPU and FSR, and Vulcan to.

Early hrs of christmas morning at 4AM when there we less players on EU as per usual theserver fps was a solid 30fps and I was getting 70fps on my ships outside the commons
I wanna see the same performance i'm getting now but with more servers and more players for this to truly feel like an mmo I wanna see that 1000 player per shard by at least a 4.x patch and then eventually hopefully at least 1000 per meshed server in the future and maybe one day the pen ultimate goal which i've been told is their aim chris once himself I think in a previous Citcon (I was skeptical but the guy who wanted to prove it linked it to me)
The idea of a single shard no regions at all one day one large multimeshed open universe with non-static meshing and no regions at all star citizen's players in one big single universe!
in the past I wouldn't of thought it possible but now from what i've seen of meshing working and how far it's been optimised by CIG I would say... it's at least not impossible i've seen how they managed to bring cross server playing ping down to 80 I used to get 600 for a while on US 500 on AUS and 250 ping on Asia now it's always around 80-100 pin regardless of which region I choose and that was before meshing this came in 3.23.2 if i'm not mistaken maybe 3.24
so i'd say if they can push that further so ping is just simply a minor inconvenience not an unfair home server advantage then I could say no more regional shards not being an issue one day i'm not saying it will be great at first but CIG have a habit of pulling an uncut diamond out of the hat at the 11th hr so I wouldn't put it past em those network and meshing teams are magicians to say the least!
my biggest hope is the next event Invictus next year we'll get to see this meshing really in action at the Expo in A18 and then my fav IAE later in the yr at NB cause the amount of players i've been seeing at micro and fps counters aside theres been no microstutters or anything it has been butter (keep in mind I have a decent pc build) been running with everything at high (game quality set to very high) and 3840x2160 with DLSS at Quality 66% on Direct X
but to say I got a ROG.S 4070Ti OC Edition and a mere Ryzen 5 5600X with 64GB 3200mhz RAM i'm impressed that they've made it so much optimized so quickly I used to get lows of 15fps now i'm getting lows of 38fps in the commons a place that used to tank my fps
if they continue to optimize both the client side and server side I can see myself playing the game on native 4k sometime in the not too distant future perhaps even before I upgrade to a 9900X3D or 9950X3D which I plan for the end of next yr!
and the fact that doesn't feel impossible anymore for a 5600X says alot about their efforts in optimizing the game! now i'm not expecting rocket league levels of optimization but if there was anyone who could it would be CIG but only if they wanted to! can you imagine the WoW level of player counts per area your screen just flooded with thousands of players at an IAE or Invictus event those large empty rooms wouldn't feel so empty anymore, it would also mean drawing a crowd for public in-game race events like XGIII lvls would be amazing, I got 2 Ranger TR's i'm ready for some death races!
also a last mention of their optimisation, while I wasn't able to watch someone elses discord stream on a server at the same time I was able to run photomode for cloud on a stable enough fps without microstutters or lag well done CIG I can see photomode not being for photos only if the optimization continues and know CIG how they're balls to the wall with everything else I wouldn't be surprised if they kept pushing it!
Vulkan will be the only option to support ray tracing when it finally gets implemented into the game, so I might start using it from 2025 onwards.
Me too, but it needs a fix as quickly as possible
I was impressed by the substantial performance improvements. Once we get Vulkan in a good place and virtualized geometry in we might actually get higher player counts without a slideshow. I know 60fps is substandard but I think it’s a reasonable target for this game in more intense scenarios.
how come my vulkan performance is consistently significantly worse than my d3d performance? i cant figure it out

I wish my performance increased, but it seems to have decreased from 3.24. In 3.24 I was getting 30-55fps in Orison, and up to 100 in space, but now on 4.0, I'm getting 20-35fps in Orison, and just barely over 60 in space.
Have a friend using a 9700k with a 3080 and they haven't suffered the fps loss, think they got an increase. Based on past experiences, I just think we have to wait for a patch to correct the issue, it's likely not on our end.

I don't believe so unfotunately.

Only gripe is when I try to QT and my ship just aims towards the star but I’ve been loving it
This is very promising, I might have to boot it back up.
Yeah I just saw the 5080 rumours, not good!
Yeah even though it looks impressive I'm not sure why the jump is so GPU intensive- I wonder if they'll optimise much or just leave it for a while!
Server meshing is key to the project AND the future of them reselling the tech to other game publishers.
LoL, Its made soecifically for their jank engine and nobody uses cryengine 3 anymore.
@@heru_ur6017 The engine is the Star Engine (trademarked by CIG), a fork of the Lumberyard Engine.
@@heru_ur6017 true but it’s only engine that’s built to handle large scale universe like, this unreal can’t handle this kind of size and Star engine still being built and optimized so let’s see in like 3 years we’re the engine is they been periodically ripping out legacy code which the transit systems/ elevator still use so when that out it should improve leaps and bounds
Are you guys just repeating the stuff you read in a different youtube video comment section?
@@scienz0220 🤷 already gave up on the game years ago but it looks like stuff is happening again?
I've been trapped in space jail. Elevator won't let me out and I've fallen on the last step on the escape route 5 times.. xD
I tried using Vulkan with Intel Arc B580, even Arc A770. It crashed to desktop. Vulkan works on other games, but this one needs more work.
im running a 1060 and no clouds is fine to me
do you know how the ry5 7600x comperes to the ry5 9600x and r7 5800x3d
I tested the 7700x and 9700x in this one: ruclips.net/video/_pVvK1EMOU4/видео.htmlsi=j-b5tS_wJnZ7NSm2
Shouldn't be a huge difference between those and the 6 core parts in SC, but long term I'd probably prefer the 8 cores.
It would be nice to see performance comparison 3.24 vs 4.0, sines we have both available.
The pvp in Pyro is certainly there. But I'd say it's mostly fps pvp rather than ship combat.
Thank You CIG! And Thank you TP42
Optimization and bug fixes for SC at this stage would be massive i know sooo many people who just don't play because its so unoptimized.
Yep. New content is great and all but nobody wants to play at 20-30fps AND with stutters.
Basically CIG just needed more engine technicians on their team but they probably went overboard with the content/ship builder skilled people whom aren't going to fix up these underlining big issues!
@gerarderloper yup they are getting too many people in the wagon and not enough people pulling the wagon
You can't pull the wagon when only two wheels are installed..
Basically cig need to add all the intended features and content first before polishing @@cookiebandit101
What is the default setting for clouds ?
Also i loved the jump to pyro!
one thing that surprised me after the 4.0 preview hotfix patch was...
that I didn't have an "automatic best setting"?! no matter which patch, I've always had a "best setting" for the graphics where I actually only had to turn off vsync and motion blur! today I played the game for the first time after the hotfix and I almost had a heart attack!
under 20 fps in A18 and when approaching stations "single digits" in places, 3 minutes waiting time until the station spawns...
panic attacks when the whole asteroid field suddenly pops up and the FOV is at the lowest level...? only after I set the GFX settings to the usual values did it work with a "comfortable" 40 FPS in A18. why is CIG TSR the standard setting????? and with DLSS I had a bug that said it wasn't available at 57% and below (speed)?????
The purpose of Vulkan is not necessary a better framerate (for now), but a more efficient at compiling shaders for instance. Its MUCH faster in Vulkan, where you almost have zero stuttering. In this case, the CPU and GPU are capable of doing more and thus, eventually, the FPS might be better in the future when they actually optimize the game assets and landing zones. There is a massive amount of area with memory leak, unoptimized assets.
The best thing about vulkan is that it doesn't stutter at all, the fps is about the same for me, but the stuttering is completely gone, making the world of a difference. Please mention this to the peeps if you get the chance 🙏
very very nice, merry x mas
Same to you!
The most recent build before 4.0 preview of Vulcan had been running much better than dx11 before this patch came out. Much better.
Good job ! 😉 👍
Just when they fix one essential feature for the game to be playble, another one gets broken (contracts, quantum travel) which makes the game unplayable again. It's like 2 buttons, you press one, theother closes, and if you press the other one, the first one closes.
I just want get decked out for the pyro immersion
Nice video, dude and Merry Christmas! I have a question: What do you think would be the better upgrade on my 7800X3D & 4070 Super (if you have to choose only 1)? 9800X3D + 4070 Super, or 5070TI with 7800X3D?
Its been running very well for me!
Dynamic meshing needs to be hammered out by the end of Q1
Will anyone get the 5090? The high power draw might cause a few fires.
Should i start playing game on current live game or 4.0 preview ?
I get fps and stutering in cities on live build of game
"live effectively"
Right. Get back to me when live has been all the way released and stable for two straight weeks.
Hope you can find it in yourself to at least enjoy Christmas. Seems nothing can make you happy lol
