The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is a fantastic tablet and the best Windows Tablet I reviewed so far. It offers a pretty 13-inch 120Hz display, newest Intel processors or the new Microsoft SQ3 chipset, as well as the Slim Pen 2 stylus and Signature keyboard cover. For this review I tested it's performance with games like Apex Legend and Adobe Photoshop, tested its battery life and its accessories.

I can't speak for the intel version of the Surface Pro 9, but I'm absolutely loving my SQ3 model with 5G connectivity. I love that I have a laptop/tablet that I can take with me anywhere and not have to worry about using public Wi-Fi networks or anything like that. Always connected, everywhere I go. It is plenty fast, the OS is smooth, and battery life is actually better on my Surface Pro than the battery on my iPad Pro 12.9" that this has replaced. IMO I think the iPad is a much better tablet, but if you want something that can actually run a full desktop environment then the Surface Pro is a solid option.
For me as someone who travels there is no way this is a comparison. I’m lucky and blessed to get 3 to 3 1/2 hours out of my surface pro seven my MacBook Air M2 will frequently last me 2 to 3 days with no charge.
Your Macbook also has no touch or pen support and cant be used as a tablet...must always have its keyboard attached thus making it always heavier. Then...its running MacOS 😢
@@timotim27 I use both. I really don't think windows makes a good tablet OS. I've had a couple of different ones, tried to use and just don't. I travel a reasonable amount. I really dread traveling with the Surface Pro. Kickstand awkward on a plane lap table and again, the battery life is horrible.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how people get such terrible battery results. I don't have a surface pro seven but I do have a surface laptop 3 and I've never failed to get a full day of work out of. And that's running VPN and downloading large documents and spreadsheets. In the past I've also had a surface pro 4 with no issues. Are you using specific programs that are very battery intensive?
@@Alsam We have very different experiences. I use my Surface Go 2 all the time with touch. I move around a lot and go from note taking to powerpoints to browser to light editing and have no issues using touch in conjunction with trackpad.
@@timotim27 Isnt that an arm processor? I dont get it either. I have in low power mode and with the screen dimmed. Still cranks through battery.
you should've said that no hustle to use compare to apple. Not highly picky on file format.
Not sure why you would compare the mid-range i5 to the iPad Pro? Why not compare the i7 w/32GB of RAM?
Even the I5 version is better and by far more capable than any IPAD.
@@williamcopeland2617 depends on your use case. If you are using clip studio pro, or the Affinity apps they run smoother and can handle bigger files on the iPad.
Your use case doesn’t apply to everyone, just like mine doesn’t 😉
I would also say, right now you probably will have a better time with Davinci resolve on iPad over the Surface.
If you want to have a portable computer device with proper desktop experience both these guys are a big L. Just get a laptop, mouse keyboard first apps are all trash in these tablet form factors.
@@sloppynyuszi Dude, the Surface Pro 9 is running full WINDOWS and is basically a laptop in a tablet form. I don't like to compare the Pro 9 to an IPAD because the IPAD is a limited mobile computing device whereas the Pro 9 is an unlimited device that runs desktop versions of a program, not mobile version of it. MacBooks should be used for comparison, not IPADS since the MacBook is a more capable device that the IPAD. Though they aren't as capable as WINDOWS.

Which is better ipad pro 2021 or galaxy tab S8 plus for some light editings for instagram posts and maintaining a small shopify store for atleast 5 years?
For 5 years I would say the iPad has a better track record for running that long. Every iPad Pro so far has gotten the latest OS update and the first ones came out in 2015. Samsung promises 5 years support, but they don’t have any device yet that has been getting that sort of update. I think the Tab S6 is the oldest Samsung to be supported and that came out in 2019.
The last Samsung tablet I had was the tab s7. When it worked it was a really nice device, but I had a faulty screen, and having Samsung lose my details and having a generally bad customer service experience made me sell it when I finally got it back. At the Apple Store they were always able to replace my device on the spot, if it was faulty. These aren’t everyone’s experience though.
If you doing light graphics I think it’s OS subjective. You either like Android or iOS. Not gonna debate that. If you have heavy files with many layers and high resolution, the iPad will run them better. Anyone saying the Snap dragon chip is plenty powerful, they haven’t opened up an A4 illustration at 300dpi with 150 layers.
If that’s not you general tasks are the same on both. Web stuff, 1080p video editing, one photo lightroom, A4 300dpi sketch with under 20 layers. You can’t tell the difference.
Unfortunately, Microsoft is being ridiculous with the pricing. To go from 8 to 16gb of ram costs $450 AUD or $300 USD and you also have to get a 256gb model first to even get the option of 16gb of ram. Absolutely ridiculous pricing that makes even Apple look reasonable as they ""only"" charge $300 AUD.
It's also disappointing that new colors are only available for the Intel versions.

slap a more efficient AMD processor and then the device will become interesting. Otherwise waste of money.

That's a nice device. I'd throw my first gen Pro X in the trash and exchange it for one with an Intel chip, any day.

None of those processors are a scratch on the iPad Pro's M2 chip and use considerably more power so have shorter battery life.
You need to pay extra, every single year, for Microsoft Office, so I don't see how the Surface is cheaper...
...for something that is slower, hotter, shorter battery life and heavier than an iPad Pro.
No competition.
