Hi Rob, Could you please test the HRV (Heart Rate Variability) of the most popular models out there? Would be suoer interesting to see if they are any good, since this metric is way more actionable for most of the people than let's say SPO2. Thanks!
@@MPD90 Mike, HRV is measured on the Garmin Fenix 7, Oura Ring, and many other watches. I get my HRV readings on a daily basis from both the Fenix and Oura Ring. The heartbeat is not like a metronome. Variability is normal.

Hello! I never write any comments on videos, but I have never seen a video about the accuracy of the apple watchs calorie tracking. Please consider making a video about this, as many weightlifters/bodybuilders (me included) view this as a really great underappreciated feature!
Rob, fab as always, my go to for any serious performance reviewing. As for the product, Apple showing Samsung how it's done. Looking forward to the Apple Watch Ultra testing.
Great review. You get so deep into the stats compared to many other reviewers. For the Apple Watch specifically I suspect you'd have a lot of views for any video that tried to show maximum GPS recording time. Lots of people will be trying to decide between the SE, 8 and Ultra and the big claim to fame there is GPS recording time. Whether you do an activity of that length or not, no one seems to spend much time on the amount the GPS drains per hour or overall to really prove claims of GPS life.
Hey Rob, been following your videos for a really long time and thanks a lot for these amazing videos from time to time giving insight into the Quantifiable measurements of the watches ! I've a bunch of requests & will be really glad if you consider answering them, 1. If the Apple Watch SE is as good as the Apple Watch Series 8, which one should we consider buying , since there's a significant price difference between the two ? 2. A continuation to the previous question can you please look into the ECG accuracy of these watches ? ( Not for medical diagnosis of course ) Just to get an overview if the ECG functionalities are worth paying the extra bucks ! 3. Is it possible for you to get your hands on a Fitbit Sense 2 or a Fitbit Versa 4 ? Asking for non-Apple users as buying an iPhone just for the watch isn't that budget friendly. Eagerly waiting for your reviews on the new line of Fitbit Watches/Trackers. I hope you get the time to read my comment & answer my questions. Anyway, thanks a lot again for such wonderful videos. Lots of love ! Just realised, sorry for such a long comment , it just shows our expectations from you :)

thanks for the great review, i just discovered your channel and was a little shocked to see my city when you opened google maps 😅 hope you're having a great time in vienna.
Great test as always. To make sure your GPS tests are indeed as accurate a you think, I would just like to clarify that putting your iPhone in flight mode and disabling bluetooth from the control center, does NOT disconnect your apple watch. You can check that by going to your Settings > Bluetooth and see that your Bluetooth is still on and you apple watch is still connected. I don't know why Apple makes it so confusing. To be fair I don't know if your apple watch would piggyback on your iPhone GPS in that case but it may be something to investigate. And if you just saw the control center to illustrate the bluetooth disconnection but you actually turned it off in the settings then great.
With the lack of sleep coaching on the best sleep tracking smart wearable, would you consider testing any of the third-party apps for the Apple Watch that do include coaching? Side note: this channel is incredible! It's been an amazing help in my wellness journey and it's wholesome to see just how positive things are down here in the comments. Keep it up!
Lol me too. I never thought about buying an Apple Watch. But I wanted to track my sleep. Somehow this is better then Oura and have much more other features.
@@ajk8720 Looks like all the S6/7/8 equipped apple watches have identical sleep tracking. Maybe the temperature sensor will be able to improve it down the line but i doubt it. Wondering which one i should go for, series 7 or 8.
I'm not a fan of the Apply circus, but this is a very respectable result. Well done for that one, Apple! I would expect that all watches at these prices levels are as accurate, but it's really not the case.

Best reviewer ! Love your content bro! Keep it up
As a scientist myself, your review gives me a satisfaction I didn’t know I needed
Amazing video! This is one of the most detailed videos I’ve seen. Amazing job 👏
As someone who has been looking for a great sleep tracker and fitness watch, this has been a perfect channel for me.
I ended up buying a apple watch s7. Thanks for all your hard work!
I'm a drummer, I've noticed with some smartwatches the fake steps problem playing the drum, this could be a great test to add for your False Steps test 👍🥁
Hi David! Yeah, that makes sense! Thanks 😊!
This must have taken so many days of effort. Awesome content. Thank you for this!
I just came across your channel and I salute you for all the test that you have done. 👏🏻 I just wanna know if heart rate variability of series 8 is also accurate
Hi Rob,
Could you please test the HRV (Heart Rate Variability) of the most popular models out there?
Would be suoer interesting to see if they are any good, since this metric is way more actionable for most of the people than let's say SPO2.
Thanks!
@@MPD90 Mike, HRV is measured on the Garmin Fenix 7, Oura Ring, and many other watches. I get my HRV readings on a daily basis from both the Fenix and Oura Ring.
The heartbeat is not like a metronome. Variability is normal.
Been waiting for this review! Thank you so much for what you do!
You should analyze Wahoo HR sensors, as well as the activity tracking devices.
Great video
Hah, randomly found another Dutch guy living in Vienna! Your work is mighty close to where I live.
I’m looking into getting my first Apple watch in order to start developing an app to track and alert to a specific health condition.
Thanks so much for your in-depth, scientific reviews, they really help a lot!
Dear Rob! Thank you very much for such a detailed report.
This is exactly the review I’m looking for. Thank you, thank you and thank you.
Appreciate the hard work my dude 👍 greetings from Amsterdam
Thanks! Yeah, me too! Super excited about the Ultra!😊
Great content! Is it possible to test the accuracy of the ECG reading as well?
Great review. You get so deep into the stats compared to many other reviewers. For the Apple Watch specifically I suspect you'd have a lot of views for any video that tried to show maximum GPS recording time. Lots of people will be trying to decide between the SE, 8 and Ultra and the big claim to fame there is GPS recording time. Whether you do an activity of that length or not, no one seems to spend much time on the amount the GPS drains per hour or overall to really prove claims of GPS life.
Thanks for the great suggestion Nick!😊
Hey Rob, been following your videos for a really long time and thanks a lot for these amazing videos from time to time giving insight into the Quantifiable measurements of the watches ! I've a bunch of requests & will be really glad if you consider answering them,
You should really submit feedback for apple. They have been known to fix this stuff quickly if it is highlight. About the XML data export errors.
Hi Kyle! Yeah, at first I thought it was just in the beta version, but I have the same problem on two iPhones now with the final iOS
Good afternoon I just happen to stumble across this RUclips video and I found it fascinating and very informative & very cool I will be subscribing and following future videos and checking out some of your older ones thank you for posting!
thanks for the great review, i just discovered your channel and was a little shocked to see my city when you opened google maps 😅 hope you're having a great time in vienna.
You should be in apple R&D man. Awesome work 💯💯💯💯💯
Thanks for the data visualizations. Just ordered an AmazfitBipUPro 👍
Great video!
I think that it will be awesome if you will create like a public spreadsheet for all smartwatches and their score for each category.
Hi Nir! Yeah, I will consider that, thanks!😊
great suggestion. He won't get any youtube views (=money) but it will be a great service
Excellent! I can wait for the 8 ULTRA!
You and me both Franco! 😊
Am more excited about the watch ultra than my 14 pro max
@@richie007brown hahaha
Love the detail in these tests. Keep it up, it's really appreciated.
Another great review! Thanks. I have a small suggestion you might want to try: Place the second, sideview camera a little farther away from you.
Hi Mark! I wish I could, I noticed the same. Unfortunately it is already more or less up against the wall 😊
Thank you. Outstanding work and presentation!
Glad you liked it Pedmond!😊
Maybe you could measure and compare sleep stages by sleeping with using both the series 7 and series 8 at each wrist and then plotting the difference
Man my eyes in tear's. What a smartwatch reviewer man... 👏
By the way if you can make some test under 50 dolar budget that would be great.
That is a really great video, so detailed and the best one i have seen so far, well done. GIVE THIS MAN A MEDAL.
Keep it up!
Your Scientific Review help me a lot! Thank you!!
Thanks a million for your in depth analysis on smart wearables.
Can you please do a review on the Huawei Watch D? 🤔
What an awesome experiment! Kudos!
Love to see such scientific test from scientists. Mind to also do a ECG test?
As usual, the definitive accuracy review of any particular watch!
I was literally just looking for this video and see if sleep stage tracking was improved at all. Very nice.
Great to hear! 😊
Lol me too. I never thought about buying an Apple Watch. But I wanted to track my sleep. Somehow this is better then Oura and have much more other features.
@@ajk8720 a
@@ajk8720 Looks like all the S6/7/8 equipped apple watches have identical sleep tracking.
Hi Rob, amazing video as always, since you are the best smartwatch scientific reviewer. Could you measure the accuracy of VO2max of apple watches please?
thank you for your extensive tests and plots
