- No Bark Noonan from Fallout New Vegas is the Chosen One from Fallout 2. There have been many theories surrounding this topic but I believe I've found yet another piece of the puzzle!
..sadly this was created before I got a new microphone so you'll have to deal with quality..
In this video we explore the theory surrounding No-Bark Noonan.

However if you go inside his room he's asks you if you are not from New Reno or wherever the Chosen One left the Highwayman. If you go further he tells you that he grabbed a few of his "things" and left. Which can explain the crashed highwayman too.
He’s the right age, there’s a wrecked highwayman near novac and his old companion marcus lives in the region

Like i said, i doubt it because something like that probably would have been found years ago when the No-Bark=Chosen One theory started. But it’s something i would have done if i was a Dev lol.
Isn't there a guy who talks about one of the Reno bosses who knows the wasteland like the back of his hand near Novac as well? That might be No-bark's kid.

He is the only dude you have to talk to in Novac besides Boone to solve the mystery.

The .223 Pistol in Fallout 2 *is* a reference to blade runner. It's called "That Gun" in Fallout New Vegas because back in 1998 people referred to the .223 Pistol as "That gun from Blade Runner."
This really supports the theory that No Bark Noonan is the Chosen One and he lost his modified .223 Pistol in the highwayman crash.
I think there's definitely a desire from the devs for people to see this as the Chosen One, but they left it open-ended enough so that it doesn't sabotage anyone's experience of Fallout 2 by invalidating their actions in the game for the sheer fact they played as a woman or something. It's cool that all this ties together, and I think this is something the devs wanted, but at the same time, it's a little hazy for a reason. I guess it's a case of Schrödinger's Noonan, stuck in a super-position of being both the Chosen One and not at the same time until you make the decision on what he is.
Yeah that being said fallout 2 would technically invalidate fallout 2 fans lol. I’m pretty sure it’s cannon all the protagonists are male. I don’t get the point. Wouldn’t it be best for a role play game to not make anything cannon about the protagonist? Or at least very little like the Dragonborn being the Dragonborn. Games after 2 are the worst offenders imo. 3 you go through your entire childhood in the beginning (this might be a little defendable tbh) NV is worst giving your character A LOT of lore that really just decreases possible backgrounds and 4 is even worse giving you a cannon name and job before the war. 76 is ok oddly enough lol. Idk I feel like the less background the better

I really wish we could have No-Bark as a companion. Just imagine fighting alongside The Chosen One in the Dweller's Vault 13 suit (or Enclave power armor) with a unique G11 or whatever late game weapon from Fallout 2
The unique dialogue would be epic

Won't lie, thought this might be clickbait, and as a former firm beliver that no bark wasn't the chosen one, I gotta admit I never thought to look into his name. That plus the rest of the evidence is actually compelling enough for me to say I think he Is.

it would honestly make sense. since the original Chief of the town of Aroyo (Arroyo?) was the Original Vailt Dweller, and he traveled a LOT, it would make sense that the Chosen one would be inspired to travel the wastes to seek new places, new knowledge and items as souvenirs. and his highwayman crashing like it did, the music from Fallout 2 playing and Nobark directly refferencing events from Fallout 2, and some quite obscure ones at that, makes me believe that he WAS supposed to be the Chosen one, but Bethesda didnt want that, so they said "no, stop that, that is too much fan service." and basically cockblocked Obsidian from actually expanding the lore in a fun and interesting way.

As much as I love the theory of no-bark. Sadly it’s been debunked by another RUclipsr after asking Chris Avellone on twitter over a year ago. Chris himself never thought about making no-bark the chosen one

As far as I know it’s a shame that at the very least we don’t have a mod where we can have him as a companion, and as our companion he dresses in the Vault 13 Armoured Jumpsuit and wields “That Gun”.

Counterpoint: Fallout 2 ending states that the Chosen One lived out the rest of their days in Arroyo. Look how I said “their”. The gender of the Fallout 2 protagonist is PURPOSELY left vague unlike the Vault Dweller who is canonically male (suspected to be the default male charisma character based on evidence)

@@BickleyLTO it’s a choice you can make but the exploits of the Chosen One are left EXTREMELY vague. Even companions from Fallout 2 like Marcus the Super Mutant who makes an appearance in Fallout NV say “they” (referring to Chosen One) and “a/the tribal”. It’s the same deal with Rose of Sharin Cassidy, who tells you that her dad (John Cassidy) roamed the lands of California with a Feral Tribal (leaving out gender on purpose)

In one of the Fallout 2 ending it's possible to have a child with Bishops family, think there's a guy near Novac that talks about the Bishop's boss knowing the waste like the back of his hand.

Clue 3 at 1:50 that is one of two songs that will play But Both are from FO 2.
But I have a slight bit of an ask that is Related to Nobark involving the Courier. The Courier is too old to be and to well traveled around the west, northwest, and southwest to be the protagonist from fallout 3. So tale of 2 wastelands mod while fun is just a mod. But What if Courier 6 is Nobark's KID? Granted 6 does not have TOTAL amnesia from his or her head trauma, but there are Gaps. THAT MUSIC..... You the Courier are the ONLY ONE WHO HEAR it when finding the Wrecked Highwayman. .... OH that's just flavor for the player... IS IT? Or is it a sense memory for 6 trying to Float to the surface? Maybe that's your dad's car and the Music is in your own mind as a memory association to the past.
Now at first brush I use to think that 6 was the grand kid of the chosen one but dates don't add up It is more likely they are the Son or Daughter. I mean we know 6 is old enough to have a kid of His own (when playing a Male protagonist) As 6 will get a bit nervous when asking how old Lonesome Drifter is (with certain perks) and is relieved when the Drifter is Older than you guess. But that means 6 is at least old enough to father a child that can be 17 yrs old or so by now. Meaning they are NOT from the Capitol Wastes as not enough time between 3 and New Vegas have passed to allow them to get to the west and father a child. But it does mean 6 came from somewhere in the west. Maybe Aroyo?
But why would Nobark not know his own kid? Rad Scorpion stings to the head and other medical reasons. 6 well they don't recognize their Dad because they got fucking shot in the dome twice and left in a shallow grave. O2 Deprivation and traumatic brain injury will have some memory influence. Another reason I think 6 is Nobark's kid is the ease with which he speaks to 6. Even when being confrontational with old sticky if you sneak up on him in his hut. He backs down with little cohersion like a Dad teasing his kid about "I'm gonna Get'cha!" kind of feel to the interaction but when the kid gets upset he shifts gears so fast it would blow out a clutch. Just like when 6 says OK ... not coming near you if yer gonna stab me (paraphrasing).... Now maybe it's just my head cannon. I want to think Nobark is 6's dad and The old man and his son who can't totally remember each other because both have brain injuries somehow wind up finding each other again in Novac and play cards together and chat about cave rats Rad Scorpions Geckos and what not while they play. BUT.... The Vault Dweller is the ancestor of the Chosen ONE.... So Why couldn't Courier 6 be the Chosen One's descendant? Black isle, interplay, Obsidian all were connected by Blood of the programmers and developers. You really think they didn't do a little jiggery pokery to link the Courier to the CHOSEN ONE? Even if it was just cookie crumbs to make us scratch our heads. There is more here but this is the highlights of what I have.

The wanamingos/aliens are not a rare encounter in 2 lol they show up pretty frequently in encounters towards the south/southeast part of the F2 map

I just want to play devils advocate by asking this question: does that mean the chosen one went from novac to arroyo to help his tribe, then? I thought that the chosen one was always in arroyo until he was sent to retrieve a GECK.
I think for this theory to work, it's best to assume that no bark traveled to novac alone in the car
His appearance *does* fit that of the Chosen One's, canonically the Chosen One is twenty-one years old, and it's been forty years since FO2 and FNV, meaning they'd be forty-one.
How can the Chosen one be 21 years old canonically when the youngest you can make him in character creation is 25?

I also believe the chupacabra that No-Bark talks about could be referring to Goris another fallout 2 companion, why I believe this is because chupacabra have multiple depictions, one being a feral dog, and one being a lizard like humanoid. If we were to go down the chupacabra being a lizard like humanoid route, No-Bark could potentially be referring to having memories about goris

That is compelling but I still doubt it. There’s still lots of evidence to support No-Bark isn’t the Chosen One. Like the slide in Fallout 2 that says the Chosen One stayed with his tribe the rest of his days. And the fact he honors the Enclave who exparimented on the Chosen One’s tribe. I have my own theory I think is far more likely. That No-Bark was an Enclave scientist before the Rad-Scorpion stings made him crazy.
Or it could be because of brain damage from the scorpion stings that no bark has a obsession with it because the last thing he probably remembers before the attack was about the enclave

There's someone in the Novac area who talks about the Player Character knowing the back of the wastes like their hand just like the Bishops boss, a reference to fallout 2 male character having a child.

This is a case of "Uncle is Red Harlow" if you choose to beleive that they the Chosen One or Red Harlow then theres nothing stopping you making it your head cannon and some may disagree , but who cares. In my opinion its cooler if they are these legenday figures than some crazy old guys.
