The Ravager and the Carrier from AVP Extinction should be honorable mentions. The Carrier being a xeno that exists as a transport for facehuggers and the Ravager being a Queen sized beast with scythe hands. Very fun lol
They "morph" because they are xenomorphs. By their nature, they evolve every generation, and can gestate in any living thing (possibly even synthetics). That's why they are the perfect organism. Presumably after several generations of bursting through humans, via several successive queens, Xenomorphs would be very human, but bigger, faster, more powerful, cunning, hive-mind, and mature within a couple days. The human race would become a biological "Borg" race.
Think that's bad? The original design of the Facehugger tube they ram down your throat was originally phallic. I mean, I love the first two Alien movies, but the creature design making the "Facehugger" become a "Face-Humper" is really, really disturbing.
@@CobaltTungsten I knew about it as I am a Giger fan, but never paid attention to facehugger's "feet", if you can call them so. In general Giger's art is very phallic xd
The original movie from 1979 features deleted scenes showing Dallas and brett being turned into eggs. The original concept of the xenomorph's life cycle never had a Queen.
@@CobaltTungsten If you think that is disturbing, Giger's original concept of the Xenomoprh had it going around impregnating other species by rape. They designed the Facehugger as way they could fit the concept in the movie without it getting banned. But even the final design of the Xeno has the sexual undertones and the inner jaw is basically meant as a metaphor for forced penetration.
Ripley 8 is not the "eighth successful" clone. She is the first successful clone of eight attempts. You see her literally obliterate the room where the previous seven attempts were stored. Brutal scene if you ask me. Otherwise, pretty great video.
yup thats exactly what it does...that was the original idea behind it when they first designed it ..the face hugger is essentially a disembodied penis that rapes it victim impregnating it ..was supposed to add an extra element of horror to the whole thing lol
I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but I recall Ripley sensing a kind of "Ultra Queen" in the Dark Horse comics. She was depicted as being an enormous Queen with six, curved blades protruding from her lower jaw. She was a near-planet-sized Queen who was the Ultimate Mother for the entire species. She looked like the Xenomorph "Goddess."
Some minor corrections to add: Warriors and soldiers are interchangeable while drones are depicted as slightly larger in their chest and arms and perform nest maintenance and development functions. This is made so because the intent was to be analogous to a degree to ants, not bees. This is clarified a few times in the books and almost absolutely stated to be directly similar in Alien Genocide and Alien Harvest. The standard xeno takes a few hours but they also require large amounts of biomass to consume for each of their molts, which is explained in Steel Egg. The skull shape differences between movies are design choices rather than having any significance, which is why Alien ‘79 and the xeno homeworld in the comics are nearly identical. The praetorians serve as guards as well as successors as the books state bluntly that if a queen dies, her surviving praetorians will fight to the death until one remains and the survivor will consume large amounts of royal jelly to force the molt and transformation into the next queen. Separately, the royal eggs are actually massive (about four times the normal size) and shown on panel in some of the comics. The newer movies including prometheus and covenant literally shit on the prior DECADES of canon by rewriting the space jockeys as well as the xenomorph origin. The space jockeys were previously shown on panel transporting eggs as a dangerous trade commodity because the eggs were apparently highly sought after for fancy food when cooked properly. The explanation of the ‘79 jockey crash was actually provided in the comics as a poorly secured egg that jostled free of its seal and opened, impregnating the jockey and forcing the crash Ellen Ripley’s crew came across.
Oohhhhh so THATS how it works. I knew even the basic xenomorph could become a warrior, then some sort of royal guard and eventually a queen but I didn't know how. Correct me if I am wrong but they just need a lot of meat and a fair bit of time to "level up" and molt, as well as needing royal jelly to become a queen
Thank you for going into the back story on the jockeys. It was better that way than trying to concoct this grand saga for the ages with them being engineers. Keep it like an industrial accident, not the origin of the universe intellectual masturbation stuff they turned it into.
0:24 that one scared me the most cause it recognized Ripley as it's mother and how it died is still very unsettling for me cause it was reaching out to Ripley like "Mom please save me"
That one didn't scare me but it definitely was the most unsettling. I felt bad for the mother when it killed her and I felt bad for it when it died. It's facial expressions. The way Ripley was feeling during the situation. It was just really sad to watch
The King Xenomorphs origins ARE known. He was made by humans as an alternative to the Matriarch under human control, but was too strong and violent and unruly to keep contained so he ended up breaking out and carving a swathe to the Matriarch where they both fought but the Matriarch/Queen came out the victor.
One thing ALOT of people don’t realize about the Newborn, it had the ability of speech. *spoiler alert for alien: resurrection* as the newborn is getting sucked out of the window, it calls Ripley 8 “MAMA”. Ripley 8 and the Newborn also seemed to be incredibly close, like a true mother and child. Much like the aliens, Ripley 8 is predatorial, highly intelligent, and though her skin was not the same color as that of the aliens, her nails were.
Yeah, and you can even hear it screaming in agony like a human and also screams "NoOoO!!!!" a few times as its getting sucked out of the window. Freaky ass scene 😅
Yes your right i remember hearing it say mama! Even creepier to add here... listening to a commentary on an alien or avp [ I forget] I learned that apparently in the first and second alien films sigorny weaver proposed that she did not want to use any guns and she wanted to MAKE lOVE TO THE ALIEN!! The comentors said to this that as she got further in developmentally involved I the series she basically got to do both. She was a producer of some sort on resserection.

Dr Bright the design in the first movie actually has a human skull under translucent skin in the head, but the lighting (or lack thereof) kept the details fairly hidden during the movie.
Dr Bright it was taken from Alien 1979, the original xenomorph was supposed to be transparent but that idea was scrapped due to practicality and they slowly had it darken over the length of the film presenting a maturity cycle.
because most people know. i remember actually seeing a toy from the original movie, where you could see the humanoid skull through the translucent skin.
In alien vs predictor the game you can play as an alien called a “Boiler” which would run at enemies and explode it’s description being that it is a very old Xenomorphs at the end of its life cycle I thought this was worth noting

@@mmediocrist you can't drop such a controversial claim and not back it up. I'd love to know what that loose end is because that's certainly not what the film was intended to do
For a short time when I was growing up, Xenomorphs had a (Better) different evolution. Instead of these predetermined forms, the xenomorph took on different shapes depending on the host animal it was grown within. There were 'dog' xenomorphs, for example, with a morphology taken from their Dog hosts. Similarly, one could imagine rhino xenomorphs, gorilla xenomorphs, even snake xenomorphs! The version seen in the first film was specifically the 'Human' itteration. The queen was fine, though perhaps even she was a result of a progression that could have taken other subtler form variants, but the idea was that the xenomorph was designed to adapt to whatever the dominant lifeform was in any ecosystem and then weaponize their adaptations. Thus it would be equally deadly on an all aquatic planet, for example, or one with other natural challenges. I specifically remember an awesome line of toy figures with this concept. They weren't cheap, but they were awesome! I wish this lore was brought back into play! It is much cooler in my opinion...
@@johndiddilyjoe6258The animal depends on which version you watch I think, but regardless it results in the Runner alien, or as you people named it, the dog alien which is still pretty accurate

There's also a few unique types in the AVP Extinction game. An upgraded Praetorian could be cocooned into a Carrier or Ravager. Carriers could carry live facehuggers on their back spines instead of remaining dormant in eggs. Ravagers were pure war variants that are unique for killing prey outright, instead of rendering it comatose for impregnation. Ravagers were best used against the K-Series of genetically modified xenomorphs.
my first introduction to the xenomorph/ alien universe was when i was watched Prometheus.I absolutely loved that movie and just when i thought it was another space horror movie (i love space themed stuff) i found the small xenomorph creature.
*me nodding my head along after stumbling through the RUclips algorithm to land here* “I have no clue why I’m here but they got crocodile xenomorphs so imma stay”
It could have been the engineers but Ridley Scott wanted to butcher his own creations so he had david create them... which is dumb. Because now it Dosent fit with how Alien starts
Also the queen control mechanism has two separate forms and it’s likely a combination of telepathy (indicated in Music of The Spears) as well as pheromones (indicated in Nightmare Asylum at the end).
Unfortunately it wouldn't be much of a fight. Any physical damage sustained by the thing would still result in the two organisms coming into contact, which is all The Thing needs to begin assimilating a host organism. The "original thing" could then escape in whatever dimished form it was left in (assuming it didn't put up a fight, which I doubt... both lifeforms are inherently fierce). What is interesting, though, is the fact that we'd likely end up with a Xenomorph/Thing hybrid... the ultimate big bad?
It'd be a short, very one-sided fight. The Thing would quickly enter the Aliens at a molecular level, and spread across the whole species until it reached the Queen, giving birth to an even stronger Alien life form. It'd make them even tougher and dangerous.
@@TheCharlesJackson the Thing will adapt, probalby would assimilate everything but the blood while keep functioning with the original host blood... is the thing man, common
@@antoniocenteno1483 I said the same thing a while back until someone pointed out the defensive capability and measure of the acid blood. We havent seen The Thing (in canon at least and I'm speaking the films) adapt as such to such a measure. The Xenomorph's blood is the game changer as The Thing assimilates an entire organism on a cellular level...but if the Thing does find a way...we're screwed.
Absolutely loved this Kroft! Also of I'm not mistaken, from the Accounts of the Earth War and Dark Horse comics, the Xenomorphs (and the queen) are able to communicate telepathically with other Xenomorphs as well as people and can also understand the way people will act (such as attacking or not). I could be mistaken though, but that's as good as I can remember it.
So much mystique is lost when you go "has been genetically engineered by David" or any entity for that matter rather then the feel of dread that something that horrifying could be a result of a really f***** up evolution. Man, f*** those writers. They really don't get what made the Xeno's so terrifying and fear inducing and why we love'em so much. 🤣🤣🤣
That isn't actually the case. I respect OPs attempt to decipher xenomorph history/lore, but he has so, so many things incorrect. David is currently experimenting with the biology of xenomorph species, but the true narrative suggests that the xenomorph we know and love and fear was around long before he started.
I mean ffs OP literally claims that neomorph blood isn't acidic in this video when it very clearly is, as it melts through the captain cheek in covenant.
Uuuuuuuh... Did we not, see the same video? You know, the one where David is outright using the fossils of what looks to very clearly be an eggsack with a face hugger? That sounds pretty damn old.
I completely disagree. David was much better for the saga. One of the best villains of all time. I'm 40. I grew up with Aliens. David made it scary for the first time ever.
I'd love to see human-animal hybrids in a future sequel to Alien. It makes perfect sense after the ending of Covenant (i.e. David's experiments). BUT they would have to be beautiful and menacing, just like the original xeno.
A LOT of these I've never seen, except for most of the main memorable ones. Thank you, I never would've known! I've seen pretty much all the movies, but wow
The tarkatan version of the xenomorph was probably the best one to go with in MK. It made it believable too seeing as how tarkatans are prominent on Outworld. I would have been kind of cool to see how an edenian xenomorph would look though.
You missed a few alien types from the game called Aliens Versus Predator: Extinction. Some of these are the carrier alien and ravager. It was a pretty fun game so I'd recommend checking it out. It shows different types of predators too!
Should have included the ps2 avp game speices they go in dept on there roles in the hive there being a drone(workers/defender of hive- human host) to warrior xeno(fighters- human host) the runners(hive scout- from animals of local planet) ravengers(massive heavy hitter xeno- I wanna say it came from the preds host but forgot) the royal drones(backup queens kinda like princess- from human host but the eggs mutated into a royal egg pior to hatching) and many others its a super rare game and hard to get a working copy due to the special blue disc that ps2 original planned to use before DVD I thankfully have a working copy and highly recommand this rare game they have one massive version of xeno that was called a ravenger was game designer answer to the gun and apc suites
Sounds like youre talking about avp extinction. Loved that game it was also on OG xbox and runs on 360 and xbox one i think. May be easier to find that one
this is one of my fave games of all time and what really got me into the xenomorph lore. its so far down in the comments to see any mention of it that i was like how under the radar did that game go to not even include those 2. Also the ravager (atleast thats what i remember its name to be) was a "pure blood" alien that required so many evo points to get a praetorian to evolve into it as well as carriers which had facehuggers attached to its back leaping from and instakilling any unit that didn't have some sort of face protection like the flamethrower marine units and acted as an egg in that it gave the facehuggers the nutrients they needed outside of their egg to not near instantly die..
Norbert, Jeri, and Eloise will always be some of my favorite ones, alien looking synths with human wit for the first two, and a true synth/xeno hybrid for Eloise.
A couple you could add if you decide to do a remake of this list come from an AvP game so they can be considered non-canon: the Carrier Xenomorph (which has small "arms" on its back to carry Facehuggers into battle) and the Ravager (which has huge blades instead of forearms and is meant strictly for combat, since it always kills its foe instead of incapacitating for impregnation).
The first two movies were fine, but I think after that they made the Alien too human like. I liked the fact that they were some unkown creatures, just there to survive and would kill everyone who stands in there way and the people would just try to survive. You could throw some misterous aspect in there or some interaction, like the scene in the third movie were they dont kill Ripley because she has the queen in her but in my opinion that should be it.
it all made sense to me before the introduction to Prometheus shit. wish he never made those films just confuses and messes about with the lore that was already well established and done very well.
Mmmmm, I think it was the fact that you didn’t know the origin so it was left to us to think about that. Things could’ve slightly been done better. The beginning of the franchise is hands down the best but I can appreciate the later movies in a different manner
I thin Prometheus and Covenant were pretty good - all in all. Sure, if you liked the "mystical origin" of the aliens, the new movies don´t work in your favor, but hey, some backstory about the alien ship (juggernaut) and pilot/ jockey is not that bad. Honestly, I much MUCH much prefer prometheus/covenant to the "dumb action flicks" that are AvP, AvP2 and Ressurrection. You could easily leave those out, they don´t add anything significant to the backstory. For me, Alien 3 would have been the perfect end for Ripley, and then Prometheus & Covenant restarting the franchise with the origin-story.
First of all, I’m too much of a coward, so I’ve never seen any of the Aliens movies apart from AvP. But, the “organic” looking design of the post Prometheus movies is more gross than creepy. Do you feel the same?
I'm glad it's mentioned that the alien shape is partially decided by the host. When alien 3 released I suggested this very theory and everybody told me I was nuts, I was like how's it not obvious?

They "morph" because they are xenomorphs. By their nature, they evolve every generation, and can gestate in any living thing (possibly even synthetics). That's why they are the perfect organism. Presumably after several generations of bursting through humans, via several successive queens, Xenomorphs would be very human, but bigger, faster, more powerful, cunning, hive-mind, and mature within a couple days. The human race would become a biological "Borg" race.
If one hard to kill... fk me then look all those 🤣
The only one he forgot to put into the list was the Ravager Alien from the PS2 game AVP: Extinction, a creepy look badass alien too
Imagine if they cross bred with eachother and eventually made the ultimate xenomorph
Holy, that would be insane
Theres 65 different ones so that’s some hella of a gangbang
I just realized that facehugger have human like nails. This creeps me out way more than all aliens types combined together. :|
Thanks for that I'm gonna never sleep

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but I recall Ripley sensing a kind of "Ultra Queen" in the Dark Horse comics. She looked like the Xenomorph "Goddess."

I missed the content, which could be done by anyone.
Some minor corrections to add:
Warriors and soldiers are interchangeable while drones are depicted as slightly larger in their chest and arms and perform nest maintenance and development functions.
Xenos eggs for... cooking?
FINALLY!!! ANOTHER WHO KNOWS THE OG JOCKY SPECIES! Literally fist person in almost 34 years of life....
and the eggs were used as weapons not food.
Yes... Minor...

How does nobody notice the fact that the protomorph has a vaguely human-esque skull underneath it’s head?
Dr Bright the design in the first movie actually has a human skull under translucent skin in the head, but the lighting (or lack thereof) kept the details fairly hidden during the movie.
I think everyone notices
Dr Bright it was taken from Alien 1979, the original xenomorph was supposed to be transparent but that idea was scrapped due to practicality and they slowly had it darken over the length of the film presenting a maturity cycle.
because most people know. i remember actually seeing a toy from the original movie, where you could see the humanoid skull through the translucent skin.
It’s like the closest alien to humans in the universe
In alien vs predictor the game you can play as an alien called a “Boiler” which would run at enemies and explode it’s description being that it is a very old Xenomorphs at the end of its life cycle I thought this was worth noting

The Predalien was capable of directly putting chest bursters into a host. Don't know if any other morph had that ability.
The Newborn which was created & designed first, was supposed to do the same but from a proboscis inside its abdomen.
Some fan has said that the Predalien took this ability from Predator
The predalien from avpr was morphing into a queen that's the only reason why it was able to produce xenomorph embryos apparently.
@WILLIAM WEST yes. Predator didn't do that thing. This is just opinion why Predalien has this ability
What was hella crazy to me was the fact that the Predalien laid two in the pregnant woman, one for her and one for the child she was carrying... Cold blooded..

Prometheus and Covenant really threw a wrench into the narrative
They rather tied up loose end

Carriers and ravagers don't get enough love, would be great to see them again one day.

Flying face hugger and carrier (ring tones) hello god ......... mmmhph oh ............ k god says gonna kill it
wait where did the face huggers originate then? did the engineers create them as way to produce the deacon to seed life, or was it a separate creature

I have the same question.
I would love to see The Thing vs Alien 🤔 LOL
The acid blood would play a big part in nullifying The Thing, unless The Thing adapts.
No cat xenomorph, maybe that’s why the Alien passed on Jones. Cats defeat Aliens and inherited the world. 😆

Exactly! I hate prometheus\covenant for this reason. The fact that the "perfect organism" is man made is just not as cool.

I'm sure you could download it and run it on a modded ps2/3
Dead by daylight fans seeing the future cosmetics for the Alien after the trailer released
Aii u found me 😂 these look sick I'm pretty sure queen alien is coming first
A couple you could add if you decide to do a remake of this list come from an AvP game so they can be considered non-canon: the Carrier Xenomorph (which has small "arms" on its back to carry Facehuggers into battle) and the Ravager (which has huge blades instead of forearms and is meant strictly for combat, since it always kills its foe instead of incapacitating for impregnation).
My tribute to GIGER, the creative mind of the Xenomorph and all the concept art of the 1979 Alien. A genius.

Thanks for sharing this video on the Xenomorph different creatures.
it all made sense to me before the introduction to Prometheus shit. wish he never made those films just confuses and messes about with the lore that was already well established and done very well.
Mmmmm, I think it was the fact that you didn’t know the origin so it was left to us to think about that. Things could’ve slightly been done better. The beginning of the franchise is hands down the best but I can appreciate the later movies in a different manner
Personally I think the Prometheus films are some of his best work, and they’re amazing movies
For me, Alien 3 would have been the perfect end for Ripley, and then Prometheus & Covenant restarting the franchise with the origin-story.
i see it as until alien requiem and after thats its a diffrent universe with the same story
First of all, I’m too much of a coward, so I’ve never seen any of the Aliens movies apart from AvP.
But, the “organic” looking design of the post Prometheus movies is more gross than creepy.
Do you feel the same?
Every time I heard you say "chestBUSTER" instead of "chestBURSTER", a little piece of me dies.
Dose it really matter that much like jesus christ
@@owensks it just doesn't sound right to me, my guy.
CHESTBUSTER OR CHESTBURSTER PERIOD
I'm glad it's mentioned that the alien shape is partially decided by the host. When alien 3 released I suggested this very theory and everybody told me I was nuts, I was like how's it not obvious?
Does anyone else remember that old alien vs predator top down army control game on the ps2? I never see anything about it anywhere
