@@mirak63 yes you would. Alien is a perfect example. The first movie explains a fair amount of the Xenomorph’s growth process and attributes, but people wanted even more.
Aliens explains even more about the Xenomorph hierarchy, names the creatures, showcases a completely new design, the alien queen, and people STILL wanted more.
Alien 3 gave us the information Xenomorphs take the DNA of their hosts to better suit their environment so when they chest burst they eventually acclimate to their surroundings. Aka why the alien runs on all fours, as it came from a dog.
Alien Resurrection explains EVEN MORE of Xenomorph anatomy and what happens when someone’s impregnated with one. The host is fed a small amount of DNA from the alien inside of them and that’s why all of Ripley’s clones come out fused with alien DNA.
And the fans STILL wanted more, and we got the Deacon! But that was all we got from this movie about Xenomorphs, how they were created, but it doesn’t even disclose if the Engineer was impregnated before hypersleep or from the tentacle monster!
For an addition to the Alien series, there should’ve been so much more information on the most critical part of the series; the aliens!
The supposed Prometheus script went too in depth, but at the same time the movie gave us absolutely nothing to work with! The deacon should’ve been the star of the movie, but instead it was an afterthought for before the credits. There wasn’t enough from this movie, and that’s why it’s bad

A GREAT deal of that draft was written by John Spaihts. Particularly the cut scene with David translating "the warning/ chamber curse' which echoes such warnings found on cartouches inscribed on clay seals to secure tombs in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. Also a 'point of proof' that the Engineers had given their beliefs and faith that were apparntly locked in their DNA -- or they returned to guide their fledging created life form of Earth. I've liked this for this reason. So many civilizations who adopted pyramids as temples and holy places, the fact that the Engineers were designed for the film to resemble the Greek and Roman marble statues, as though they were honoring the true Lords of Perfection, the Givers of life. The language was based on Indo-Proto-European roots which are still being studied and spoken to this day. I find the Engineers fascinating, would love to see more of them and how it all ties together. They are a culture to be explored.

  • @postumus77

I think rather than 'evolving' as a species to a state that no longer allowed for Engineer procreation, something more interesting would be that upon fusing their bodies with ever more technology, they inadvertently lost the ability to procreate.
Which would kind of parallel what happens with human societies, the greater the level of technology and comfort, the lower the birth rate, dropping below replacement levels and threatening the existence of many unique cultures and traditions.

YES! i was just thinking something similar recently. my thought of what would make sense is that a newer technology (or power source) that they begin using turns out to affect them before they realize it. this would echo what happens with us, realizing years later that a certain drug, or radio wave, or many other things, causes adverse effects. if the whole community used it, they would all find out that they are now sterile, and would have to urgently attempt to tinker with their bodies in order to correct it. seems way more plausible than "they were so obsessed with their work for so long, that their reproductive systems devolved...."

So the Engineers were trying to create a life similar to their own after realizing that the evolution they reached would not make possible to procreate never again (leading to extintion), and the only way to achieve it would be creating a older version of themselves through Deacon's blood (reigniting their species)...maybe thats why they seeded so many planets until the point of running out of it (many failed attempts), then they tried to recriate Deacon's Blood but created Black Goo instead. All this would explain why they seem to have abandoned all their creations after a while, the only race they kept contact was the race David wiped out, and they were very similar to Engineers (and Engineers left structures there hinting they would come back - they didnt do the same on Earth), maybe they wanted to observe and study them more to be closer to recreating themselves, maybe the other races were used to refine their methods (or refine the production of Back Goo)... this would also explain why this race similar to Engineers are less advanced then humans and predators for example... their are a more recent species, maybe the last one Engineers created.

@@GrimmShadowsII The name of the second film was supposed to be Alien: Paradise. If you're going to make a prequel to Alien, then do a prequel that makes sense and connects to Alien. I wouldn't have minded Prometheus and a sequel based entirely on the Engineers snd the Deacon f it was just based on the Alien universe, but they purposefully mislead the fans into believing it would be something it wasn't. That's where the issues with the fans and the studio started, because they wanted something else, and he was pushed into making changes that ultimately made the movies disasters.
I've read the original script, and yes, it might not be easy to adapt on to the screen, but it most certainly beats anything Ridley Scott decided to cut it into using other writers.
Instead of a real sequel to Aliens (Alien 5) by Neil Blomkamp, we got the Covenant mess which completely ruined everything built up in Prometheus and the ending. And now he's pushing to get his hands on the Alien TV series as well, trying to take away that project from Noah Hawley who has done some brilliant work in Fargo and Legion for example.

What a coincidence, I used to watch your videos a few years back to learn more about the "Aliens movies" and today it just came to my mind and I decided to rewatch both Prometheus and Alien: Covenant today and wanted to do a bit digging to see if there is anything I missed like deleted scenes and such and it just so happened to be just after you returned to this channel. Seems like fate but I really do enjoy your content, it's very interesting and I hope you make more videos, don't let this channel die.

Haha, so funny, exactly the same story here my friend. Loved this channel a few years ago, and just hopped back, to find a new video! Gotta say, I love these movies and I still think about this story, hoping to find the next chapter's continuation on the Covenant with David.

This script could have given some of the many answers the Prometheus left us with after the premiere.
I looked so much forward to watch this prequel til my favorite series of Alien movies.
But while I thought I would get a lot of answers to all the mystery especially around the Space Jockey, I found a whole bunch of new doors open, giving even more (unanswered) questions.
And that the remains of the Space Jockey seen in the original movie should be just the remains of a spacesuit of an Engineer made me sigh.
I recall how I, in the beginning of the movie, was sceptical about Noomi Rapace being able to fill in the role as a 'new' Ripley, but that was one of few positive surprises... and then they killed her off between Prometheus and Alien Covenant, which I to this day have only seen once.

Love your content brother! Great to see another video. I really wish they wouldve explored this more in the sequel rather than going back to primarily an action movie. I really love prometheus and the lore surrounding it. I didn't even know it was in the alien universe until the sequel. I thought they just threw in some cheeky references at the end.

It's always interesting seeing and knowing stuff like this because in a sense the only thing really missing is the context given by what was cut because often it really is still part of the texture of the narrative and still visible within. In this case it is almost poetic in the synergy afforded through itself in relation to its plot

Ridley Scott may have told this story through the medium of sci-fi, but it’s just as much a biopic of mankind’s search for answers to our origin, our failed attempts at creating life, and our moment of realization that in spite of our hubris & technological advancement, we are no closer to understanding God or creation today than we were a century ago.

Your videos are fantastic! I love the eerie music and your voice. The editing and production of them are on point and give a sense of wonder… I wish that they went with this portrayal and Engineer sorta lore. I can just know that a version of this story would be so fascinating and cerebral in the manner or likeness of the great science fiction story ever told. In my opinion anyways… also like the comics having the Precursors or progenitors, I forget what they were called.. the original space jockeys and how they created the engineers.., anyways good work my friend cheers

I was like, a middle-aged man when the original Aliens came out and watched it in the theatres and loved it. Never imagined there was any extensive or advanced world lore behind it at the time. I've heard about this Prometheus stuff plenty of times before and the basic idea was pretty obvious. But it seems like maybe even the authors didn't know quite how to stitch together the whole Imaginary world?

This makes me appreciate Prometheus even more, it’s so much deeper and philosophical. If only Ridley Scott had added more of this. Also cleared up my confusion over why the black goo was able to create life whereas the Engineer one only seems to take it. I love that even the Engineers weren’t the supreme beings and also implying the xenomorph aliens also have an unknown origin. Learning more about a non hostile intelligent deacon would be cool.

  • @missingpiece2071

this is one of the few movies that I don't feel dumb down after watching. Actually I should say has the potential because they always ultimately use the aliens as a crutch to entertain everyone instead of challenging concept of reality. That is why I like going to the movies, to have doors opened that would otherwise remain shut. This movie gets so close and then slams the door shut with the over done alien fights.
