SUCH a (super cool) bad ass. I saw this movie with my Father. UNBELIEVALBLE landmark in my life. And Moore was right there with many of them. I ADORE 'Live and Let Die'. There is LITTERALLY no one as cool as Roger Moore's James Bond. NO-body. OK, maybe Darth Vader.
This movie is okay, I absolutely love this scene, but this movie was only made because STAR WARS (1977) came out and made a boatload of money and this movie was made strictly as a cash grab.
yes! agree! Had THE BEST Bond villain in Hugo Drax (how they manage to convey his megalomania in the first third, is brilliant!!!) Corinne Dufour's untimely death. Saw this movie in the cinema again after 43 years last night as part of the 60th Anniversary cinema re-release. The laughter from the audience when Bond quips "did i" was brilliant. I miss the cinema audience reaction from the Roger Moore Bond's, his suavness and sophisticated slick mannerisms were legendary. Something that is really needed in the world today, the return of the escapism and fun of a Bond movie like this
I think that Christopher Wood was the best Bond screenwriter! Such a brilliant dialogs and one-liners! And Roger Moore was brilliant in this scene! R.I.P.!!!
Why we love all Brittans. "You're too modest, mister Bond". (So true !) Michel Dombasle: such a personnality ! "Such good sport"..."Unless you're a Pheasant".
PrincessA Roger Moore also had a genuine dislike for guns in general had a phobia of guns and didn’t own any or like to partake in any sports involving guns. He was accidentally shot as a kid by his brother with a air rifle.
the look on Drax's face at the end said it all . He knew that Bond knew what he was up to . It just confirmed in Bond's mind that Drax was hiding something when this happened after the incident in the G Force simulator .
IF Brosnan been given the chance in 86 of becoming Bond he would have been the perfect transfer, he was younger and very good looking with the same sence of humer and delivery as Roger, his Remington Steele is the same as Roger's Simon Templar
"Did I"? Haha, that responce is just hilarious. Typical Moore. I also like how he didn`t act suprised at all over that a guy was about to assinate him from a three! Wonder what Drax was thinking.
Besides as a handsome secret agent with an exceptional marksmanship, from a book entitled _"Psychology: Modules for Active Learning"_ there is written, according to psychologist Peter Jonason and his colleagues, (James) Bond is a charming, manipulative, cold-blooded killer who is comfortable operating outside the law.
@megatwingo I agree with you, after Roger Moore left, the Bond films were not the same any more. Roger Moore and Sean Connery had the best Bond films. The other actors were not really bad actors but I didnt like their films as much as Sean Connery and Roger Moore's Bond films.
A shame he wasn't given more opportunities like this to show his darker side. Just like the car kicked off the cliff scene in For Your Eyes Only, Roger really could be badass when given the chance.
The only way Drax can kill Bond in the first part of the movie is to make it look like an accident (i.e. death by g-force simulator malfunction or accidentally shot during a pheasant shoot). If he's outright murdered, then MI6 would then be on his case. That's not to excuse all the other times in the series when they should've just shot him haha.
Both played by the great Michael Lonsdale , an Anglo French actor who is perfectly bilingual in both languages . He has an impressive CV , but is best known to British audiences for Moonraker ,The Day of The Jackal and he was in a great scene with Robert de Niro in Ronin where he plays the old man who helps De Niro's character and meticulously recreates old Japanese warrior battles . Ronin also had fellow ex Bond villains Sean Bean and Jonathon Pryce in it .
That's the good old James Bond humour which often is missing in the modern Bond movies. An interesting aspect for me are clothes of the two woman from Drax who are walking away in the first seconds of this clip. My mom was wearing the same skirt and the same cream coloured boots on this day 40 years ago at christmas.
People think of Moore as a joker next to, say, Connery or Dalton, but you can see the iron in his portrayal as he walks away after the "Did I?" line. He was definitely consistent with the character as played by all the others.
And to keep up appaerences: James Bond is trying to keep up the appearence that he doesn't know anything of Drax' secret project in Venice while Drax tries to keep up the appearence that his secret project does not form a threat to the world.
@megatwingo Of course and I also agree with one of your other comments about Moonraker. Moonraker is also my favourite Bond film and it absolutely frustrates me that it is publically the worst Bond film to be made, just because Bond was in space. To me it doesnt really matter whether Bond is in space or not as long as the film itself is good and I am trying really hard to ignore the negative facts about the film.
@broman178 If the James Bond movies would be historical war movies, for example. Then I would understand negative critics about some fantastic story elements. But Bond is pure entertainment with a lot of room for unrealistic elements. In certain borders, of course. One shouldn´t overdo that. But I always felt fine with the way Bond and the story developed. Including the space part. It was a roller coaster journey around the world that ended in Space. Wonderful. The best Bond Movie in my opinion
I like the most Bond movies. Especially the older ones. I like Moonraker the best of them all. Now I´m reading to my surprise, that Moonraker received and is receiving a lot of negative critics. I´m not a Bond or cinema super-buff, so could anybody explain to me, what isn´t to like at this fine and very entertaining movie? This movie is never failing to entertain and relax me, no matter how old I´m becoming or how often I´m watching it again. Everything after Roger Moore became uninteresting.
Its moments and dialogue like this that I miss in the new Bond movies.
+TK Yang exactly
yeah, this was classic late 70s sarcasm I grew up with. loved it
political correct madness is why new bond movies are boring, feminists and racecards ruining media for us all
@@girlsdrinkfeck No.
@@FrancisHD what
Moonraker is criminally underrated. This is possibly my favourite Moore scene in the entire series. He's such a badass.
The first is amazing. It’s the second half that kills the movie and the reason why people forget about moonraker.

Moore is the best in my book. Suave, handsome and by far the best at delivering one-liners.
That's probably one of my personal favorite Roger Moore scenes of all time.
It is my favorite.
I can't get enough of this scene. It never gets old. :)
Excellent. No gadgets, no trickery, just a sharp eyed James Bond. Great line with his response of " Did I" when he said you missed Mr Bond.

Knock Moore all you like but moments like this are up there with just about any Connery scene, in my opinion.
Noah Blatt Agreed!
Ditto, my friend, Ditto
Definitely
Moore was good. It's the writing that got campier as time went on.
Agreed
Only, and I mean ONLY, could Sir Roger Moore deliver a line as smooth and sophisticated as THAT.
May God bless you, my childhood hero
I can hear Connery delivering that line .... Ash you Shed ... Shuch good Shport :-)

I miss Roger Moore. He added an element of fun to the role!

Born and died on years ending in 7. interesting!
What makes Bond flicks so fun is how removed from reality they are.
Roger Moore is my favorite Bond
His films were fun
Hugo Drax is easily the best Bond Villain
thats my favourite scene of all bond movies... everything about it is perfect and hilarious
"You missed, Mister Bond."
"Did I?"
Roger moore is the James Bond i grew up with my favorite
This is one of the classic Roger Moore Bond moments of all time. My other favorite is when he grinned at Jaws while dropping the big magnet on him.
Probably one of the smartest scenes in any bond movie, highlighting that bonds dialogue is just as sharp as his rifle skills.
You're missed, Mr. Bond.
#riprogermoore
DONT FUCK WITH ROGER MOORE
HES A GOOD SPORT
Hutch214 yeah bullshit
"Did I?"
*cut to a corpse falling from a tree* Bond: *did I*
These Bond movies (late 70s and 80's) reached an interesting period in all characters. Bond girls and villains included!
Best bond scene ever- Michael Lonsdale made this along with Sir Roger.
@Jamie Muddiman
Aye. It’s the way Drax looks so pissed off that makes this brilliant.
Like Bond just took a dump on his cereal.
It may be a bit of a stupid Bond film, but it certainly had the best one-liners in my opinion
Probably the best one-liner of all bond
"Aha! You tried to kill me. Well, here's your gun. I'll just turn my back and walk away."
Psychologically speaking, he overpowered the criminal Drax in every way possible.
He wanted to arrange an "amusing death" for James Bond, and just shooting him in the back would not have been amusing for Mr. Drax.
This is funny. And the way that guy fell out of the tree.😆
Never has a man looked so good in a suit
Roger Moore was made to wear suits! Even that leisure suit from Live and Let Die looks great on him.
This is why Roger Moore was by far the best 007
RIP Roger, you will be missed.
Such good sport
Anyone else in such a silly movie would have made it unwatchable but Moore makes it enjoyable by not taking himself seriously.
RIP to the real James Bond.
RIP Duško Popov.
Yeah. Sean Connery
Roger is more like bond in the books, cold and he looks more like bond
Why we love all Brittans. "You're too modest, mister Bond". (So true !) Michel Dombasle: such a personnality ! "Such good sport"..."Unless you're a Pheasant".
This scene was a nod to Sir Roger Moore's dislike of hunting

Scott Knode He was an only child. He had no siblings

Always loved this scene :-)
Very funny scene! Roger Moore was having some fun here!
This was Roger's Thunderball spear gun moment
They know exactly where they stand now....Roger had class oozing out of him, my life long role model
the look on Drax's face at the end said it all . He knew that Bond knew what he was up to . It just confirmed in Bond's mind that Drax was hiding something when this happened after the incident in the G Force simulator .
Did i?
"Call thd police! Mr Bond has just killed my gardener!"
That gardener was only trying to get a better view of the pheasants.
Or he was staring at the ladies in the showers.
0:55 James Bond is like the MAG. He NEVER miss.
Brosnan was so great being Bond because he follow Roger’s humour and Sean dark profile... in one person. His transictions were so great
IF Brosnan been given the chance in 86 of becoming Bond he would have been the perfect transfer, he was younger and very good looking with the same sence of humer and delivery as Roger, his Remington Steele is the same as Roger's Simon Templar

Drax knew that Bond knew he was up to no good to put it mildly and the look on Drax's face after his marksman failed to kill 007 said it all
My favorite scene.
Sean Connery and Roger Moore the best Bonds, ever!

Right, but I'm wondering why Drax didn't just shoot him anyway. There were ample opportunities in this scene alone. Ah well, that's Hollywood...
