      Moore felt that the scene at 4:07 didn't square with his idea of Bond as a character - the clinical brutality of kicking the car over the cliff when the guy was already defeated was alien to him: "it was Bond perhaps, but not my kind of Bond". But people falling from hgreat heights is a trademark thing in Bond films, and actually the same movie begins with the wonderful pre-titles sequence where Bond ends up dropping off Blofeld into a factory chimney... I love that scene, the pre-titles part of FYEO is hilarious.💗

    • @scottknode898
      @scottknode898 5 лет назад +7

      It’s not necessarily modern but one of the most realistic fights in the series as stars Sean Connery and Robert Shaw performed their own stunts for the fight. Their fight has replicated in other ways in the Bond series as Bond henchmen have been shown through out series to similar to Grant with being muscular and with Blonde hair.

    • @Uncle65788
      @Uncle65788 4 года назад +3

      The "fight scene" in the motion picture "From Russia With Love" that occurs on the train is useful as a study. It is this opinion that when combat reaches the point when stakes are very high with peril being only a moment away, the thrust of a knife unless it is a jugular or very real stab to the heart would not of stopped the strangulation from succeeding. We are not talking about acrobatics we are in fact talking about two very determined enemies trained as it were in mortal combat. It is this opinion that Grant would of won and Bond would of been killed.

    • @Uncle65788
      @Uncle65788 4 года назад +7

      The news here about said that Ian Fleming was seriously considering "killing off" the James Bond character in "From Russia With Love". Though this is but an opinion That may explain why "From Russia With Love", is recognized as one of the best James Bond films. There are some pretty serious fight scenes and a number of close calls that the motivation to perhaps kill off the "James Bond" character may off made this a better film.

      At the age of 14...back in 1961, I was in the local library, looking for maybe a mystery to read...Suddenly, I stumbled across Casino Royale, and leafed thru the book...amazingly, I found a description (so tame by today's standards!) wherein Bond was seducing a woman!...this was hot stuff, to me!...I checked out that book, and over the next couple of months, read a few more of these fascinating action books! I told my friends about them, but they scoffed at me. I had the last laugh, when, with great synchronicity, the Bond film, DR NO, came to town!...I was absolutely redeemed in the eyes of my friends, and we made sure, over the next few years, to take in the newest Bond films. When Connery first hit the screen, he was the very "type" of Agent that the books had etched into my mind...I could not believe how he matched my imagination ! I was hoping to somehow grow into the physical specimen that Connery was...that did not happen, unfortunately!

      Probably but with Moore I always saw his stuntman doing those things in the first place - as the clumsy british gentleman type (the Churchill of all Bond Actors - No Sports! Just look how he stands there at #19 that's ridiculous :D ) I never took him serious and stopped looking Bond Movies after his second appearance until Dalton (ok as interim solution) and finally Brosnan arrived. Connery will always be the true Bond for me with Brosnan right behind. Craig does a good job but the producers lost track with the franchise.What do you guys think about Christian Slater or even Henry Cavil (see Solo for Uncle and last Mission Impossible) as the next Bond ? Guess Slater would be too old by now and Cavil would render Connery's style and physical presence in a modern way...

    I'm one of those weird ones who's favourite Bond is Daniel Craig... Now before everybody goes on with telling me to gtfo, I'd just kinda like to explain why.. Regardless of my age, I've watched all of the James Bond movies because it's just been something that I've always been interested in as a kid. I've loved ALMOST every single actor who was given the honor to portray him on camera. But the soul reason for Craig being my favourite is that no matter if all the stunts were done by CGI or stuntmen, I find the character more believable in a way. The plots also seem to just have more in them... And personally, I prefer Craig's acting quality and style-of-bond a lot more than others.. Again, my opinion is probably FAR from the popular opinion of the public.. But you know.. :)

      Jonathan Mitchell You prefer the acting of Daniel Craig to Sean Connery? I think you are being a little biased here because you are indeed young and things that are more modern appeal to you. If you read the books it is true that Bond was a no nonsense Man who didnt take any prisoners, he was ruthless, If you watch Connery in his first outings as Bond he was ruthless also, hitting Women to get information ect ect, " Shocking, Positively shocking" in Goldfinger is a perfect example of this chauvinist quality that should be appreciated because it brings realism to the story and in the era the stories were based in these themes are relevant. Also I agree that Craig is also playing a ruthless character but to me the last Bond films that he has acted in are no more than modern action films. Lets hope they can do something better with SPECTRE. In my opinion the truly last great Bond film was Goldeneye ( Pearce Brosnan was great in his first outing and the rest of the cast were terrific and reference to The Lienz Cossacks and our Betrayal of them after WW2 makes the film great in my opinion). Sean Connery is Bond and that is the end of conversation. ( sorry )..................Also one last thing" If you watch Goldfinger, which in my opinion is the Greatest Bond film ever, no question about it, at the begining of the film just before " the positively shocking moment" he comes out of the water, stips off his wetsuit and when he takes out the first casualty of the film he runs away, just as he runs away you will see him do a little skip with his feet. I suppose the majority of people will think " who cares if he does a little skip with his feet" but to me and I am sure to many other true Bond fans it is these little gestures and mannerisms that set Connery apart from the rest. Go watch Goldfinger and be sure to watch BOND do his little skip just before he arrives in the Bar. PRICELESS "

    Great list. Just goes to show that the newer Bond movies have very few truly "Bondian" moments in them.

    LOL, loved the "oops, wrong scene" bit at the end. It was a good way to juxtapose both the historic beginning of the franchise against its arguably lowest point (though I think Jaws falling in love in "Moonraker" may be top contender for that honor).

    I just wish that #3 would have went a little longer. The best wit of that scene is when Honey asks Bond if he's looking for shells too. "No, I'm just looking."

    I actually screamed an expletive when Die Another Day came up!! Tbh I was expecting “No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die” be number one, though I do get the selection! Even though I grew up with Pierce Brosnan, the first film I seen was The Spy Who Loved me, which was so damn exciting man! While Sir Rog will always be my favourite, despite his atrocious acting, Goldeneye for me is absolutely flawless!! Sean Connery: Goldfinger; Roger Moore: Spy Who Loved Me; Timothy Dalton: Licence to Kill; George Lazenby: …….; Pierce Brosnan: Goldeneye; Daniel Craig: Casino Royale.

      One of the underwater stunt cars from The Spy Who Loved me has ended up in a shopping centre in Finland, 400km north of Helsinki. The owner of the mall must be a real fan of the series.
