- In 1962, Ian Fleming’s famous series of spy novels came to life with the release of Dr. No. The movie was a huge success and it made Scottish actor Sean Connery an icon of cinema.
There have been five other actors who played the famous 007, and David Niven played Bond in Columbia Pictures spy parody, Casino Royale, in 1967.
Indeed, the James Bond movie franchise has been one of the longest-running in movie history and it often sparks lively debate on which Bond movie is the best. Here is every James Bond movie ranked from worst to best.

Thanks for watching! Let us know in the comments below how you would rank every James Bond movie!
Looper y'all absolutely screwed this up. This is a terrible list.
Andrew Hardy I agree. The order they've put this in is ridiculous.
A View to a Kill was a blatant ripoff of Goldfinger and deserves to be at the bottom of the list (of official Bond movies). Other than that, the only thing this list got right was the Top 3! Thunderball is better than GoldenEye? Moonraker in the middle of the pack?! You should've swapped Moonraker with Octopussy, which was a much better Bond film. Moonraker basically just recycled the plot of The Spy Who Loved Me, swapping colonization underwater to colonization in outer space. You Only Live Twice is Connery's worst as James Bond. Diamonds are Forever was better than that. You really need to watch these movies again.
Golden eye eva!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ThunderBall is better than GoldenEye which is over rated probably because brosnans other three are so bad. How die another day isn't second from bottom I don't know there are defiantly more bad things I need the film then just the special effects.
There's only one error here: The list.
The Man with the Golden Gun getting such a ranking is absurd. That was not that bad a movie. A cringe Bond girl to be fair, but the plot was good, the setting was good and a solid cast.
Casino royale skyfall And goldeneye should be the top 3
@@jonathandeman9051 The top 3 were spot on. Brosnan and Craig can't match Connery's brilliance.
AW T but when you look at the movie as a whole, not just James bond
@@heyheyheyheyheyhey76 my sentiments exactly. I don't know why people hate on it so much.
Did Roger Moore kill this guy's mum?
Hahahah this is the best comment!!!!
He slept with her and never call her back
You sir made me laugh
It's obviously!!! ...it's a ridiculous list!!!
Yeah and that I think he wants Timothy Dalton to marry his mum. How was his Bond films so high and Live and Let Die should be higher.
The man with Golden Gun is a classic. This list is awful.
I agree. Moonraker is the worst James Bond Movie from Moore era. It's evidently a bad copy of Star Wars.
I agree roger moore was a different bond and man with golden gun this is what happens when people dont know movies mojo more like blowholes dont know bond dont do lists
I love every Bond up to goldeneye..in my opinion, Bronson only had one good film then after that i didn't care for them. Although i haven't seen tomorrow never dies, the world is not enough and die another day in yrrrrrs, maybe ill feel differently now.
@@drewblake6304 tomorrow never dies is class it’s probably in my top 10 however die another day is shocking

Connery: The Classical Bond
Lazenby: The Tragic Bond
Moore: The Funny Bond
Dalton: The Ruthless Bond
Brosnan: The Smooth Bond
Craig: The Realistic Bond
Your word is your bond.
I like it.
I like this summary! 😂
@@JeremiahEcks777 they're remind me of how Batman actors ranked:
Connery- Keaton
Moore- West
Lazenby- Affleck
Dalton- Kilmer
Brosnan- Clooney
Craig- Bale
@@abangemirzaihanabangzulkip9502 Oh wow, ironically Kilmer is my by far least favourite Batman and Dalton is my favourite Bond. So I just can't see that! 🥺
Connery and Dalton were the best
This list belongs on a list of worst lists ever made.
👍
The Man with the Golden Gun does not deserve such a ranking to be fair. Other than an awful Bond girl, that movie was pretty good. The acting was decent as well as the plot and as usual Christopher Lee showed his ability to play an interesting villain.
You know in my opinion its also not the best Bond ranking you can do but each and every single one of us have different tastes and opinions. I‘m proud to say that Octopussy is my alltime favourite! No problem with that!
@@barthotuber6429 OctoPussy gets a bad rep and I dont get why. Good action, Moore as some great 1 liners and the villain Khan is one of the franchise best. In my top 5 easy.
Any list that puts a Roger Moore movie ahead of a Connery film doesn't deserve the title 'list'.
The most ridiculous bond ranking list ever compiled
Agreed - 'Die Another Day' is easily one of the worst
Right! The Living Day Lights was the WORST Bond film ever.
The Man with the Golden Gun was a decent Bond movie. Okay the Bond girl in that movie was shit, but the acting was good and an exciting plot.
@@PU238Wave Bullshit that movie is better than all of the Pierce Brosnan movies other than Goldeneye combined and that's not even Timothy Daltons best Bond film.
Dan Swann yea, the unrealistic orbital laser killed the movie for me
Daniel Craig was a brilliant choice to play Bond, enjoyed all of his appearances. As for the list here, I think it's poorly vetted.
Eh, I still wanted more Brosnan Bond movies. Maybe it was just how I grew up knowing Bond, but he's always been my favorite Bond by far and the way they did him dirty when he wanted to do another movie or two, I can just never get on board with his replacement after that.
@@majorpwner241 he got to old and they had gotten the rights to casino royale back so they wanted to make that a movie and brosnan didn’t look young anymore
Couldn't agree with you more. Sadly looper is very unreliable when it comes to creating quality content. They either tell you what you already know or they show how little they know about the material they are supposed to be reviewing.
Agree, he has all Bond faces actor, best mr daniel play for 2 squel more
Pin my opinion Daniel Craig was worst choice of James Bond actor and confirms after watched 2 movies in half not even see until the end of each movie it was enough, but younger generations likes it
My favourites: skyfall, casino royale, goldfinger, living daylights, goldeneye, licence to kill
Now that's a better list! Good job! :D
Which Casino Royale? The Peter Sellers one? I enjoyed it too
My favourite is no time to die
You have my vote! 👍 As long as it's the 2006 Casino Royale. Goldeneye is my favorite: always did love a good squeeze!
Good list!
Did they just say Adele's "sexy" song, Skyfall? Because I'd use that word to describe Skyfall, maybe hauntingly beautiful or iconic but not "sexy".
Lol I thought I heard that wrong. He actually did say "sexy" lol
World is not enough was to me the best song
I honestly think Adele’s song was overrated.
Yeah it's not sexy it's tragic and haunting
Lol
saying that Monica Bellucci is a bond girl in Spectre tells me that this list is made by someone who hasn't watched the movies and just read plot overview somewhere and is now guessing
but she is a bond girl in spectre
I just saw her in single scene , my I thought I'm the only one who noticed it. Fuck looper 😏
@@ethantoise4073 lol she's in 2 scenes within 10 mins, and is just a chick Bond sleeps with, totally not a true Bond girl

Rip Connery. Goldfinger is by far my favourite.
From Russia with Love and Goldfinger are my favorite Connery Bond films.
Without a doubt!
The fact you put tomorrow never dies after any of Roger Moore's films I find totally loopy
This guy has no idea what hes talking about
Of course he didn’t, he’s just a narrarator

I’m sorry, but as soon as you put “Die Another Day” ahead of “The World is Not Enough”, I had to turn the video off.
Even above Tomorrow Never Dies. While is not my favourite, but below Die Another Day?
@@kindofanironfist I feel like the world is not enough to be underrated but that's becuase I used to enjoy that one along with golden eye, obviously golden eye aged better and I can see why not everyone likes TWINE, but no die another day is easily the worst bond film so that ranking is a sin

@@jamief6507 it's all good
It's everyone"s personal opinion not a jury of film experts
It's hard for me to rank them overall. I prefer to rank my faves by actor...
Sean Connery - Goldfinger
George Lazenby - Not really a choice here
Roger Moore - For Your Eyes Only
Timothy Dalton - The Living Daylights (I love Licence to Kill just as much, so this one is tough... he's probably my favorite Bond)
Pierce Brosnan - GoldenEye
Daniel Craig - Casino Royale (I go back and forth between this, and Skyfall... love them both)
What!? The spy who loved me is everything Bond stands for. For your eyes only lacks a real villain.
nice ... timothy dalton in my oppinion was the most realistic bond ... he didnt give 2 shits what people thought of him . a military guy through and through .
@@slcontent9465 I agree. To me he is the closest to the Bond in the Fleming novels
My Ranking
Sean Connery: Goldfinger.
George Lazenby: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. (unsurprisingly).
Roger Moore: Moonraker.
Timothy Dalton: License to Kill.
Pierce Brosnan: GoldenEye.
Daniel Craig: Skyfall.
Connery was the best Bond and "Goldfinger" was the best of all the Bond films. But Timothy Dalton's entries were two of the greatest when it came to Bond's characterization and the action sequences. Connery was the most handsome Bond, no doubt. But Dalton was the most elegant with the most empathy.
I agree. I loved the handsome Pierce Bronson but must say he wasn’t a favorite as Bond. Don’t know why, just doesn’t work for me
New drinking game: take a shot every time the narrator can't say "Le chiffre" properly.
Le Shriffe........... 😂🤣😂
I’m drunk 4 minutes in.

Do you guys hate Roger Moore or what? Putting Live and Let Die so low is insane. Same goes for Man With the Golden Gun. On another note, Goldeneye should be top 5 every time. It always gets overshadowed by the video game, but it's a great movie too. One of the most original villains thought up from a real piece of history, the best side characters, great commentary on post Soviet Russia and James Bond as a character... the list goes on.
Roger Moore was borderline effeminate! Worst Bond ever! Can't even watch the Bond films of the Eighties! Need another Sean Connery! Daniel Craig just doesn't hit the mark! Neither did ANY of them! Connery made you believe he was a killer! Dangerous.
'Live and Let Die' is my favourite ever Bond movie.
Live and let die was the best Roger Moore Bond movie, but that’s not saying much.
jerry2357 The boat chase was incredible! Other than that, it was very flat.
Roger's movies sadly haven't aged well, way too campy
There’s just something about roger Moore playing bond that made me like him the most. Whenever I think of James Bond. Roger comes to mind immediately. Then of course Sean.
Same bro I acc loved roger think my favourite is octopussy
Same way.
I got introduced to Bond through late night Cable TV movies. The Roger Moore films tended to be a perfect fit for that time slot when you are tired but cant sleep. They had enough plot to make them interesting, but not so deep that you lost your place if you dozed off for a while. They were campy without being cringy. You could just lie back and watch Bond Trope after Bond Trope.
@@hondo4427 I AGREE 100%
Roger Moore….. The BEST
Octopussy ……. #1 FAVORITE
Goldfinger is still the template for a Great Bond Movie! ;-
This lis is confused and obviously put together by people who are not Bond fans. The half assed remake of Thunderball is better than the Living Daylights? Are you guys smoking crack?
No shit. The script was written by the same guy who brought us 1980's Flash Gordon, and the Batman movie with Adam West. Not exactly spy thrillers...
well obviously they are just acting like they know what they are talking about, I mean at one point they say one of the films didnt exactly keep up with the source material... when movies like octopussy are absolutely nothing like the original story. and if source material is one of the basis for this list then Timothy Daltons bond movies should be much higher in general since his bond is the truest to the source material.
Living Daylights is one of the best
Gerry C ... The Spy Who Loved Me is a remake of You Only Live Twice(both directed by Lewis Gilbert) with the ending cribbed from the Diamonds are Forever script that they couldn't be arsed to film. Similarly... License to Kill used a lot of story elements from Live and Let Die that they didn't want to film and the same actor played Leiter!
_Suburban_ me too.. the list is well argued but some of the choices are off base. I do give props for rating the villains and "scenery" separate from the movie because both elements are important to a successful Bond outing. Nothing wrong with pointing out Herve Villechaise for being a better villain/henchman than most you will find in the series. Spy Who Loved Me should be rated higher.
I can’t believe he put Never Say Never Again higher than Diamonds Are Forever
Ikr
I can’t believe Diamonds are Forever isn’t at the beginning of this... I’m half way through this video and it’s not mentioned yet!?!?
Die another day should be WAY lower. Same with Spectre
Exactly
Dude, NSNA is so much better than DAF on every level.
Any bond fan will have their favourite actor, bond girls, gadgets, villans and movies and as we are all dirrerent we will always have different opinions. The Bond movies started in 1962 and are still going in 2020 so 58 years I think that says it all.
"Die Another Day" NOT at the bottom? That's ridiculous.
I love it. The movie is fantastic.
I get the impression this RUclipsr isn’t a fan of Mr. Moore.
I'd say he isn't a fan of James Bond at all.......
The Spy Who Loved Me should at least be in the top 10
I'm not a fan of Moore either. When you look back on Moore playing Bond, he was by far the most cheesy.
@@thunderstruck8087 i think he was the best
I doubt he's even seen a single James Bond movie
“Even though it isn’t a great Bond movie...” that is no way to start a review for The Spy who Loved Me.
Gene ryan u are right
TSWLM is definitely one of the best bond films.
Yep, the movie might overload the campyness sometimes but 10 movies in celebrating your own series impact on popular culture by "reliving the greatest hits, but also upstaging as much as possible" was fine by me.
It's a great Bond film, even if it simultaneously makes fun of the "traditional Bond plot and villain" while itself doing a great job of delivering the classic action we all love.
Especially since the opening stunt scene is just too badass !
Exactly
All those feathers and he still can't fly
As entertainment I thoroughly enjoyed all of the Bond films and still do watch them . They are pure escapism and that's what I want .
I definitely agree with your top 5 Bond selections. Goldfinger is the best, particularly if you were alive and old enough to know what was happening. The 007 Bond craze had swept the Western world and there was a lot of pressure to follow up on "From Russia With Love." Goldfinger exceeded expectations and even its theme song by Shirley Bassy was spectacular. As a total package, Goldfinger is at the top.
The people at looper obviously love the gritty version of Bond, which is fine in and of itself. But, when you rate the snorefests of Solace and Spectre higher than most of Brosnan and Moore you really don’t understand the 007 films.
*I prefer my Bond movies shaken, not stirred.*
CobaltBob so with PTSD?
Maybe thats why skyfall is considered the best in the series....
Connor notyerbidness *cough* Casino Royale *cough*
Kārlis Kokorevičs (my personal favorite too. but doesnt work for the joke)
Do I look like I give a damn?
I prefer my James Bond Connery, not Brosnan
Dalton was such an underrated Bond.
He really brought the franchise back to life after all those years of Roger Moore’s fantasy Bond films! Dalton was fantastic!
I disagree Dalton was a awful Bond I'm still shocked he ever got cast
The best Bond.
A view to a kill is one of my favorite bond movies, just love the villain and the opening music
Your lack of respect for roger Moore is disturbing
Only him fighting Jaws is worth watching. Everything is as bad as Pierce movies
For your eyes only is one of the best bond films. It really is crafted well
Wasn't completely Moore's fault, in most things he is pretty good, but the campy, bullshit comedy approach was just that, bullshit. Just a bad time for Bond movies, but Moore also could have retained more control over his character portrayal.
THE SPY WHO LOVED ME and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY are vaguely salvageable action flicks, but otherwise the real virtue of Roger Moore's Bond films is that they made Mike Myers' movie career possible.
It's Sir Roger Moore.
license to kill is the most underrated bond film
under rated Bond girl Carey Lowell
JRGProjects I have a problem with the semi-truck folding in half and doing a wheelie. If they hadn't included that bit I'd say it was perfect. Why did they have to include that bit??? They ruined perfection!!!
The Fibler Just watched that last night. I like everything about that movie, the music, the car, the characters. Too bad that lawsuit happened and Dalton couldn't have made a couple more movies.
Yup. It's my favourite one!
My fave Bond movie.I like Craig AS James bond
I have never been more aware of a narrator reading a script in my entire life. Guy has clearly not see 90% of these movies
Sean was the best Bond. He had to do it right for them to keep making movies. He has the most memorable voice as well.
I agree ! Sean Connery was the best James Bond !! We will miss him 😥 in the James Bond films!
......The man with the Golden Gun? As one of the worst bond movies? What are you crazy? Are you?
I`d put it in the middle but it`s not among the best. It got visually one of the best ending duels and a fantastic villain and a promising personal plot but overall there`s just better in the franchise.

I'm 47 years old.. and when the Sunday night movie special would come on my Dad would always let me stay up late to watch James Bond... it was some great memories with my dad... so growing up in the 70s and 80s Rodger Moore was definitely my favorite but I love all of Sean Connery's movies except for never say never
Roger Moore was brilliant best bond
Goldeneye was my first Bond movie as a kid and Brosnan and Craig were really the only Bonds I knew. I recently decided to start at the beginning and watch them all through. While I enjoyed the Sean Connery ones (except Diamonds Are Forever), I just finished The Man With The Golden Gun and am loving the Roger Moore ones. Excited to keep going!
Also another 80s kid growing up in India. Moore and Connery were the quintessential Bonds. One suave and stylish and the other simply iconic. My favorite all time Bond was Moonraker for the breadth of the plot and special effects which to this day hold out well.
@@sonofanarchy6628 I dunno about that but he went off in his own direction with it which was the best thing to do for him.

Yeah I feel like they didn't really watch the films as Bond fans just as a bunch of ignorant RUclipsrs
@J J sorry we have to agree to disagree
@J J yeah Im sorry but I don't see how the heck he is deciding this ranking, it seems like he has no knowledge of film at all and that he hates Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan. Plus he does this on most of his rankings were he is really biassed against something or someone and appears to not know what he is talking about but is trying to sound like he does
Somewhere in my mind I remember this video having a different name.
Yes, the list seems to suffer from clusters: a bunch of Moore movies in a row, a bunch of Craig movies in a row, etc. And, really, putting _all_ of the early Bonds at the top is a bit ridiculous.
Really? Die Another Day is better than Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough? Sorry, buuuuuuut NO!
They were all about the same level of entertainment, in my opinion. I do think they all should have been a bit higher on the list, though.
I agree man, this list is trash
I know right, I laughed so hard at that, terrible list
The list is just a matter of someone's opinion - however, it differs hugely from mine ;)

Exactly. I expected someone to write that comment.
Nice to see the Dalton bonds higher on your list than usual. Golden gun is my fave Moore bond movie. And as i watch how the “serious bond” movies increase in respect as years go by, i keep wondering how good it might have been had the poosibly first, then possibly second bond had said yes to either offer- the Dangerman himself, Patrick McGoohan. And as to people lamenting the low rankings of Roger Moore on this list; his films were borderline cartoons by studio fiat, Moore himself was far better as the Saint than as Bond.
Man reversing this list would get it closer to mine.

License To Kill, yes, but TLD was mediocre at best.
Agreed - I think it's down to the era of the bond fans ... if Doulton's films were released when Brosnan's films were and vice versa the perception of bond films in terms of rankings would be different...
When I was a kid it was all about Connory and Moore - Doulton was frowned upon ... watching the films now in my 30s I cringe at most of the Moore Films and can only watch Dr no and Goldfinger out of the Connory ones.. the two doulton ones are in my top 5 and I can watch them over and again.. Daniel Craig is the best bond but Spectre was a letdown... when I look back at brosnan's films they were gash - only tomorrow never dies is rewatchable...
Dalton is extremely underrated.
I agree! I liked The Living Daylight and loved License to Kill!
An "I wonder?": In the opening scenes of Casino Royale,, while James is earning his "first kill" in the brawl in the restroom there are a few frames showing Daniel with his face against the subway tile grasping his opponent that I immediately felt looked like Steve McQueen. Coincidence for sure, but it made me think if Steve might have made an interesting Bond? McQueen movies were excellent at showing his dark as well as physical sides, such as in Bullitt, The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape. The sophisticated, debonair side of Bond? I believe Steve could have pulled that off as well? Oh well...
My favourite James bond is pierce Brosnan all times
Mine too he's perfect
Man with Golden Gun second last? Stop trolling
Agree. TMWTGG was a solid Roger Moore episode and Christopher Lee was very good. No way second last.
I agree. I think it should be in the top ten. Moon raker was by far worse.

i loved moonraker, i loved every movie
Of the 7 Moore films I'd place it 4th best.

😂
I'll bet ten bucks that they did just that
For the first half at least, die another day is not pierce Brosan as second best
@@meme-afied7400 I'll bet 50
Putting A View to a Kill below turds like Diamonds are Forever, License to Kill, and For Your Eyes Only made me cringe. A View to a Kill may not be the best, it's easily towards to bottom of Moore's list, but Christopher Walkins performance is quintessential Bond villain cheese.

I'm old enough to remember when On Her Majesty's Secret Service was routinely No. 2 on a lot of these kinds of lists (despite Lazenby's performance or lack of) and sometimes even No. 1.
Maybe because (next to From Russia with Love) being the finest replication of a Fleming novel (which was obviously much more important in the past than it is now).
It's just too bad the producers initially had to give up on filming OHMSS because of no snow in the alps. Connery was going to be in it, though I do wonder if Connery would or could have done as good a job with the ending scene as Lazenby (amazingly given his lack of talent) did. Tho we can potentially see a glimpse of how Connery would have handled it in the opening scenes of Diamonds Are Forever where he is trying to avenge the murder of Tracy. This also resulted in You Only Live Twice being filmed before OHMSS, resulting in producers deciding to just ignore the continuity problem (which occurs if you're watching these movies in order as they appeared in theaters back in the day): in OHMSS Bond and Blofeld should immediately recognize each other from their previous shared adventures in Japan. It doesn't even work as a "reboot" because it contains those references to the earlier films both in the titles and Lazenby fondling the props from Dr. No etc.
PS.. . . SKYFALL SUCKS! it's the only 007 film I ever saw and heard about people walking out on. I tried to watch it again recently and it's still boring as hell. The only good thing in it is the return of the Goldfinger car. Craig often looks like he belongs in a Lord of the Rings movie instead. Didn't even finish it.
Lmao lord of the rings, I feel bad for Craig but he just doesn’t feel like bond to me either. He is more like a James Bourne to me without the charisma or swag. More like a robot.
Whatever state you were in when writing this, I hope you're better now and can appreciate these movies
Live and let die was a great bond film
My favourite .
Can't get the funeral scene out of my head
@ jamie gregory ... Yeah, great scene !
That was the most amazing film to me until Star Wars. That film is amazing, completely underrated.
@ Ed Word Why ... It remains a favourite of mine and also 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' .
No Bond fan will ever agree on which Bond films are the best - it makes a massive difference depending on when you saw it, what type of Bond film you like and why you specifically like them. E.g - Licence to Kill, in my humble opinion, is amazing, because I like a darker James Bond - but some people hate it, because they prefer a slightly lighter style.
Die Another Day is shit, though.
Joseph Palmer no it's not it only had mediocre cgi
Magneto Metal Bender Well, I thought the first 20 minutes were great, and the rest was an utter mess, but hey ho, glad you got some enjoyment out of it :)
Skyfall and spectre were worst..
100% agree with you Joseph Palmer
are you kidding? skyfall was easily a top five bond film
I'm only six films in and this list has already jumped the shark
Every bond film is a classic none of them will give u a bad time except 1967 and 1954 casino royal
When I saw A view to kill and The man with the golden gun at the beginning of list, stopped watching.
THANK YOU I always thought I was the only one who liked a view to a kill, I give it credit for being one of the first bond movies to go full on action movie
@@hottestcheese7973 I loved it too
You're Not Alone. I love that movie! I never get bored watching it! @@hottestcheese7973
@@hottestcheese7973 Personally I don't rank View to a Kill highly, but it's certainly not as bad as put here. The Duran Duran theme alone puts it far above some others.
Both are ass
Dude do you have something against Roger Moore.
Roger Moore was a good actor, but a lot of his films are stupid. Timothy Dalton brought the franchise back to life in “The Living Daylights.”
Good top 4. Although I would put Casino 1, Goldfinger 2 and FRWL 3. I actually liked A View to a Kill, maybe it was because I saw it in the theater at 7 years old. Tomorrow Never Dies and Quantum of Solace are god awful.
Agreed about Quantum. Pretty slow and not a lot happens
6:20 my God what Bond is doing? I think he's re-entering sir :D
Quantum of Solace better then Live and let die and Man with a golden gun, no way!!!!!
IMO, QOS is a damn good film. It might not work in a vacuum, i. e. without the knowledge of Casino Royale, but that's its only flaw along with a weak title song. It's the most different and courageous film in the series next to Licence to Kill and even beyond that probably.
It's short, action packed, to the point, not self indulgent, void of the usual Bond tropes while still being a Bond film, the cinematography and visuals overall are beautiful (you can see the movie was very expensive) , Olga Kurylenko is IMO one of the most beautiful Bond girls (my top 5 for sure). The opening car chase and the fight scenes are expertly made, they are seriously underrated. Then there are the more artistic overtones with the opera scene and the fact the director specifically built four action scenes around the four elements (Earth, Fire, Water, Wind) to sort of echo the theme of taking resources from the Earth. Greene was a good villain, because he too was to the point, practical, not some OTT cartoonish villain or villain with cartoonish ambitions as is usual for the series. He was just a ruthless businessman basically.
QOS probably went too far from the formula for most people's tastes, that's why it's so ignored, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gains a following in the coming years, similar to how it happened to OHMSS.
I liked quantum of solace because it was more realistic and had a plot that, like license to kill, seemed remotely plausible. I get a kick out of the people who talk about Roger Moore's 'not being realistic'. Yeah, right, this is REALLY how international intelligence works. Apart from the skydive which may actually be possible but seemed like a real stretch, the film had a more gritty and realistic feel that I enjoyed more than most bond films. The bad guy though, what the *&^% was that? Effiminate french guy and his sidekick, uh, I don't know, what the hell was THAT! But compared to Spectre, which was just out and out ridiculous and by the book, this was a great second half of casino royale. Although the girl with the oil kind of reminded you that its 'all made up' (I know, I know). Anyway, Man with the Golden Gun suffers from having the WORST bad guy killing ending of all the bond films, and that includes live and let die's 'being inflated til you explode'. They both were interesting, like all bond films, but I don't think could be said to be 'better' than quantum, which suffers from the worst title of any bond film. I think that suffered from most people having little idea what EITHER word int he title meant.
@Tai Chi Tube I was going to say that was crazy but thats actually an interesting idea-whether they changed the character enough that it was a whole new character. I'm not sure I agree but its an interesting idea.
@Tai Chi Tube People have lives man, can't sit around and write analysis of character development in movie serials.
@Tai Chi Tube OK, I'd have to say I always wondered whether the guys name was actually 'james bond'. I kind of assumed it was like '007' because no secret agent would be dumb enough to be walking around introducing himself with his real name-no wonder his wife was killed in OHMSS.
But for Craig they actually made more of an extensive backstory than most bonds. I'd say there are at least two bonds, but I haven't read the books. However, I think Dalton was the first Bond to outright disobey orders and in the next movie quit.
Brosnan also did that, as did Craig. But I seem to recall that Connery and Moore's Bonds were always very loyal, two different actors, but that aspect seemed the same.
However, 'he' certainly has similar characteristics- he's always kind of dumb and gets lucky or a gadget that constantly gets him out of trouble. Agents are typically the OPPOSITE of that.
He was always sarcastic but while he always killed poeple, like Moore said of Craig, he's the first guy to make you believe he'd REALLY kill people. The other movies, even with Brosnan, seemed more cartoony, even Connery. It doesn't help when you have to call somebody 'pussy galore' or 'octopussy'. At least Dalton stopped that kind of nonsense, it didn't re emerge until Brosnans film tried to make you believe in invisible cars, John Cleese, and Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist.
Even Brosnan said he knew soemthing was up after the Bourne Identity, but now apparantly Craig wants to bring more 'irony' to Bond, I don't know what that means, but I guess all bonds get tired of being told by directors "look at the camera like a smug prick".
Thats all I can say about that. I like Craigs movies because they were pretty well written, even with the usual Bond tropes. I usually like different ones for different reasons, but I really don't see Craig as being a 'different' person. Brosnan and Dalton had similar looks, but Connery looked kind of freakish in at least a couple of them. Anyway, on a final point, on my feed is an interview with alan rickman. He'd have made a good bond as well. But as I've said elsewhere, I think Patrick McGoohan would have made a kickass James Bond, he made a pretty kickass John Drake.
The man with the golden gun is one of my favourite James Bonds
Jakob T. Me too!
Octopussy! Love Maud Adams! Not only that, this film has so much awesome stuff going for it!
same hear and moonraker i like the more out there films
David281 the theme song was great too
Same
My favourites are Goldfinger, Dr No, You Only Live Twice, From Russia with Love, (the first four Bond films my parents showed me) followed by Goldeneye and The World is Not Enough (the first Bond films I saw in the cinema as a teenager).
Well, it's been a while since I watched it, in my opinion "A view to a kill" is my favorite Bond movie. Even though Roger Moore was never my favorite Bond and his Bond movies were often more on the comedic side of things, "A view to a kill" has Christopher Walken as the psychotic genius maniac, who was developed by Nazi scientists who did experiments on babies to create an "ubermensch", as my favorite thing about the movie. He is probably the best Bond maniac villain of all the Bond movies, as Christopher Walken goes ham and laughs like The Joker while he machine guns a mine full of workers, has an insane plan to cause earthquake to San Francisco (or California I don't remember), has the masculine feminine black woman, Gracie Jones, as his side kick (side chick), and does all kinds of weird eccentric things while battling James. Moore on the other hand, gives a quiet, serious performance, which is fine. He is the hero of the movie, but the movie is really about the villain here. At the end of the movie, after a brilliant final confrontation at the top of the Golden State bridge, Christopher Walken's character starts laughing when he realizes he will fall to his doom. So this character was kind of doing it before the Joker made it cool, and it was more subtle too. Also Duran Duran soundtrack is good.
Tomorrow never dies has actually aged almost too well as time has gone on 👀
This is accurate. What was once an over the top/unbelievable villain is now by far one of the most realistic.
For me it's the best of the Brosnan Era
Sean Connery is still the best Bond!! Love all his bond roles! Especially Goldfinger
Only a few times.
Many Bond fans would disagree to this ranking.
1. Casino Royale
2. The Spy Who Loved Me
3. Goldfinger
Putting Quantum of Solace higher than 3 of Pierce Brosnans outings is absolutely ridiculous 😂
This is factually the worst list ever 🤣
I think Quantum is better than Die Another Day
EJIFIII but tomorrow never dies?
@@adoptedlobster9900 Quantum has a more interesting concept but Tomorrow Never Dies had more time and isn't sloppy like Quantum. I do like TWINE though
you're right, it is only higher than 2 of PB
1) Licence to kill
2) Goldeneye
3) Casino Royal (Craig)
4) Goldfinger
5) The living daylights
6) The spy who loved me
Anybody who puts Licence to Kill at the top spot has my utmost respect.
casino royal was trash, skyfall was the only redeemable craig pic
Anyone who think GE & GF are two word titles deserves no respect!
carmad59 I disagree. Although it was between Casino and Skyfall. The reason I took Casino, is because It breathed life into a (arguably) dying franchise. Casino delivers a bond film grounded in realism, but still with all the charm of the originals. Without Casino, the Skyfall film would not have its backdrop. Skyfall is far more of a sequel to Casino than it is to Quantum. This further supports my statement of Skyfall needing Casino. Casino is a gritty, fast paced study into Bonds origin. For that reason alone I have to give Casino the edge due to it being unconventional for a Bond film. Casino you can watch as your introduction to the Bond films (as it was for me, and yes it may be why I am leaning towards Casino). Skyfall, it seems to work best if you have seen some previously. So yes I could easily swap Casino for Skyfall, I just prefer Casino more. We are all entitled to our opinions however and this is merely mine.
1. Licence to Kill
2. Casino Royale (2006)
3. The Living Daylights
4. Skyfall
5. GoldenEye
6. Golfinger
7. From Russia with Love
They're all pretty good in their own way. A lot of personal preference has to do with when you grew up watching them. Live and Let Die and MWTGG were the first two I that saw in the theaters as a kid and will always be my favorites. However, the 60's movies seem to have aged better than the 70's, 80's, and 90's films due to their antiquated effects. Can't wait for the next one!
The best thing of Die Another Day is the opening sequence, which anticipates the turn of the screw made by the franchise later with Craig.
Curious what you mean.
"A space craft is highjaked to release a deadly gas around the world"
That's half the plot of Moonraker, and you got it wrong.
Yeah they don't know anything about these movies at all
RIP Roger Moore. 🙏
"George Lazenby is pretty wooden" - is that where the narrator of this joke got his delivery inspiration?
I wish they would make Michael Fasbender Bond
He just oozes that 007 charisma that's needed and sadly missing now with Daniel Craig
I go for Henri Cavill. Watch the man from uncle. James bond like. He did great.
‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ will forever be my favourite bond!
Elijah Swift mine to
Agree
It's my #5
Jaws is definitely an epic Bond villain👌😁
Absolutely: or is he an epic henchman?
"The spy who loved me isn't a great bond film" ? 🤔who is this fraud? One of the best bond films easily.
Clearly the best Roger Moore Bond. There was a gap of four years before Spy who Loved Me came out. Golden Gun was so bad I think they took their time with this one. And it worked.
Jordan Andre McDonnell tswlm is pretty poor.
calql8er 3 years.
I rank SWLM as Moore's best, and easily in the top 10 of the franchise, if not top five.
Rick L. Nah!
It's hard to compare Bond movies starting from 1962 through 2015, so much has changed in over fifty years. I rank the Bond movies I like in order by the actor who is portraying James Bond. Throw out George Lazenby and On Her Majesty's Secret Service, since he only did the one film.
My list
Sean Connery #1. From Russia With Love #2. Goldfinger #3. Thunderball #4. Dr. No #5. You Only Live Twice #6. Diamonds are Forever #7. Never Say Never Again.
Roger Moore #1. The Spy Who Loved Me #2. For Your Eyes Only #3. The Man with the Golden Gun #4. Octopussy #5. Moonraker #6. Live and Let Die #7. A View to a Kill
Timothy Dalton #1. The Living Daylights #2. Licence to Kill
Pierce Brosnan #1. GoldenEye #2. Tomorrow Never Dies #3. The World is not Enough #4. Die Another Day
Daniel Craig #1. Casino Royale #2. Skyfall #3. Spectre #4. Quantum of Solace
Sean Connery is the best James Bond, Roger Moore is second, and pull the other three out of a hat.
the older "golden" bond films are really charming. Connery and Moore have also the right sense of humour. Not everything is taken seriously. I can watch them hundred times. The newer Versions of Bond are just another action movie with lacking of charm and humour. That´s not my taste. One time watching and not once more.
Here are my top 5. As someone who has been watching Bond since I came out of the womb. In no particular order; Goldfinger, Live and Let Die, Diamonds Are Forever, Casino Royale(Daniel Craig), The Living Daylights (Had to put Timothy Dalton on the list, because he deserves it for his great portrayal), and the bonus one, Golden Eye.
Here is a diverse list of great Bond movies spanning all the great Bonds.
Well you got Goldfinger at #1 right but the rest of the listing is beyond crap.
Gotta agree here. It's like you started by picking the best, and then shuffled the others like a deck of cards.
wakefielddevin this entire list is shit
That's not the plot. At least it's not Goldfingers plot. I guess he fooled you like he fooled MI6.
Gerry C - No amount of toaster smuggling can affect the world economy, but you most certainly can do it with gold. Because of its intrinsic value compared to fiat currencies (like the U.S. dollar), gold bullion is monitored with a paranoia that rivals even fissile material. It's not easily transported in bulk, but once it crosses political borders, its tracks are fairly easy to cover up. This makes large scale movement of gold a huge red flag even to affluent nations, whether it's clandestine or not. (Try googling "china russia gold".) So, when rumor has it that someone is smuggling massive amounts of gold successfully, you'll have a hard time convincing me that MI6 _wouldn't_ take a keen interest. Interpol is notoriously lacking as a stakeholder, and as far as I know, the HM Treasury has no charter for such operations, especially outside the UK.
If you want to point out flaws, then let's discuss the weakest part of Goldfinger's plan: to detonate a dirty bomb inside Fort Knox.
But wasn't his sleeping gas lethal though? I remembered it killing the business men. That means Goldfinger also killed thousands of men when he used it on the military and successfully did so while attempting make himself the richest man in the world.
6:19 "007.., My God!! What's Bond doing!?"😦
Q: "I think he's attempting re-entry sir"🤣🤣😆
LOL!
Lol
Moneypenny, where's 007?
He's on a mission, sir
Well tell him to pull out!
R.I.P. Good ranking rest in peace
Yeah Roger and Sean just turned over in their graves, got up and died all over again after this list
"I think he's trying to reenter Sir"!!!! Unforgettable Q's quote.
Well you forgot it, he actually says
I think he’s attempting reentry sir.
To me, all the bonds are great in their own different ways.
The second casino royale is really bad
Except for Quantum of Solace, it was pretty much unforgivable. It should have been bottom 5 easily.
But daniel Craig has more female fans world wide. He has got attension of females from all countries, cultures & continents
@@antontheone8602 y is that bad? It had a good love story and a good fight & strong script! I would rate it as the 1st best bond movie to which people of all cultures internationally were able to connect.

Octopussy is ranked way too low. That's actually a pretty good Bond film.
I totally agree
CoolCommander Agree. I think it's Moore's second best after For Your Eyes Only.
I would switch Octopussy and Moonraker around.
CoolCommander nah it should be #24 its so bad
I liked Octopussy a lot. Heck, at one point, Bond has to try to disarm a nuclear bomb in a crowded circus whilst everyone initially tries to stop him, but because he's wearing a clown suit as he does it, the movie is seen as silly and over-the-top! WHAT THE FUCK!?!
I never could understand why not one Bond could defend himself in hand to hand combat.
I assume you mean before Daniel Craig. Back then they just took pretty actors and didn't do any fight training.
My Top 10
1. Licence to Kill
2. The World is Not Enough
3. For Your Eyes Only
4. Casino Royale
5. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
6. Die Another Day
7. A View to a Kill
8. From Russia with Love
9. Goldfinger
10. The Living Daylights
What a bizarre list. The narrator claims NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN is better than THUNDERBALL - then gives THUNDERBALL a higher ranking. He also says GOLDENEYE is the best Bond film ever - as he lists it at number seven on the list!
yeah it's just a lazy stupid list in a random order to make people argue about it.
The name of the villain in Casino Royale is le Chiffre (the R is silent), not le Shriffe or however one would spell the way the narrator pronounces it.
That's one of the reasons why I don't believe these guys are Bond fans.
I also would've ranked Die Another Day much closer to the worst end of the list than it was. It wasn't just a bad movie, or even just a bad James Bond movie. It was a milestone anniversary movie, and it was just even worse because of that.
the r isn't silent but yeah he said it wrong fo sho. C'est simplement le chiffre. I agree with you on die another day wtf were they thinking?
Dude. I'm American. And so were the people that taught me how to speak.
french here, its pronounced "chiffre" not chriffe or chiffe even tho yes the R might be weak its still pronounced but with a big american mouth you cant make that suttle of a noise. see it at the minimum R sound you can make, thats why he thinks its silent. have a nice day.
