Slave here in this movie is that his ancestors have vowed that all members of their lineage would sacrifice their life in the safeguard of the throne, and they are binding to that word of promise, which makes us think that he's been enslaved. But he is actually enslaved to his forefathers' promise to the kingdom.

In hinduism , shiva is like a god who likes being offered water/milk showers. Its an act of devotion. Hence the song at start where shiva (the character) lifts and moves the shiva(god) idol under the waterfall so his mom doesn't have to walk much .
The idol is supposed to be too heavy for a human to lift. But Bahubali can. Bahubali means the "man with strong arms"

28:00 Prior to this scene, there is a scene where she looks at her reflection in the water (where she gets her first tattoo from Baahubali) but she fights within to accept herself as a woman and realize her femininity. Instead she tries to ignore it as she wants to stay loyal to her people and fulfill her pledge of rescuing Devasena.
But in reality, the people she is loyal to although are pledging a good cause, they are just someone who brainwashed her into thinking her entire life belongs to only one purpose of rescuing Devasena, (basically, a cult).
Bahubali having observed all these initially responds by tattooing her multiple times to remind her about her femininity as tattoos are sort of symbols for beauty. All these sequences are topped with one final scene where he strips her off of her warrior attire which is merely somebody's selfish expectations, hence revealing to her what she really is beneath her beliefs.
The fact that Baahubali climbed an entire fricking mountain to see her beauty which is something she is hiding even from herself is the main reason she falls in love with him. Making this one heck of a love story in my view, certainly most underrated and misunderstood plot in the entire Baahubali 1 & 2 combined.

28:00 guys feel free to talk about what you feel about the movie don't be like other reaction channels praising everything in a movie just for the viewers . Most people agreed that video song was wrong on so many levels and it's a dream sequence of the movie so it didn't all really happened and this movie has some of dream sequence songs.

@@LifeAlmostWithoutus most of the indian movies are family package want to cover every type of person. kids, adults, aggressive, soft, fantasy few things intentionally unrealistic so people will remember that movies are for fun not real. In the end of the song there is flower indicating female. when he going to his kingdom representing all 5 elements like fire, water air,earth. there are details in most of the scenes in poetic way.
Nah, that sequence is cool on Shivudu's part. He wanted to show her own beauty to her. Even if it means violating her, it is totally fine just because of the fact that she is cool with it later on. And he knew that she'll be fine too.
His intention was good but done in wrong way.
Baahu with stress on the two AAs is the correct pronunciation.
Baahu+Bali
Baahu means strong arms/hands/shoulders
Bali means one who possess strength.
So the name basically means ONE WITH STRONG HANDS/ARMS

Just want to let u all know that when u watch indian movies, u need to forget the laws of physics, logics, etc.
And most of the song sequences falls in the category of fantasy(in some cases the movie itself is a fantasy one) , where u doesn't need to worry about how they got the new dresses or jewelry & other stuffs.
This will help u in watch the movie & enjoy, or else u might end up questioning each & every scene! 😉

Ss Rajamouli's Baahubali series is one of the greatest series ever made and a series that changed Indian cinema. Ss Rajamouli followed up with Epic RRR after Bahubali. You must check out Eega (2012) - Rajamouli's previous venture before Baahubali. One of the best ever. 🙏
Excellent, best Indian and most satisfying and enchanting movie ever from India. Everything is superlative in this film series of 2 parts. Pride of India for winning so many international awards and accolades from all corners of the world. Particularly a proud moment for all Telugu people for having such a marvelous movie most cherished in Indian movie history. Never before and never after too. What an extravaganza with marvelous music, scenery, fights, emotions, story telling, screenplay, lyrics, background score, spine chilling dailogues and photography...... Hatsoff SS Rajamouli garu, it's unfortunate that this movie wasn't sent for Oscars due to perochial interests played by the stupid selection committee. Every dept of this movie making deserved an Oscar......atleast music....

When he goes for his mother leaving his girl,cinematography implies that he is going thru all 5 elements (earth fire water land and air ) meaning nothing made of these can stop him.
It's sad how we under appreciate these movies just thinking they lacks deeper meaning.
In my village when lord shiva temple was established it took 20 men to move that statue (shivalinga) and that was not easy ,they were all struggling.

Women in the past were not seen as just ' prospective brides' in India..The girls in royal families were trained in martial arts, to be a queen .Women in ancient India were raised to be warriors and queens having trained in martial arts..There were Indian queens who died fighting British..There were martriarcal kingdoms in India , until British rule. That's why historical movies of India have powerful women too..
@@heraisaway7849 I'm a woman ..It is my bro's account..Yeah history is written by men..But in India, there were queens who were warriors and women who were warriors in army of kingdoms ..There are names like Rani Laxmi Bai..In my state kerala, there are women who are trained in martial arts like Kalari..They even teach today's generation even when they are in their 80s..I mean , there are very few cultures where u can see women fighting with swords and poles and doing martial arts..
I know the stripping part is very not right.
But you have to understand that it is a period movie and in period movies women loves an alpha male.
Now that's told, let me explain what the director tried to tell.
So, Avantika is with this group who is on a mission and she has become this fierce warrior. But deep down she wants to be a normal girl who wants to look beautiful. It is shown through how she looks at her reflection in the river(where her first tattoo was made).
Shiva who loves this girl understood this and during that fight sequence he stripped her of the warrior gear and made her into the beautiful girl she always wanted to be. This brought out the Lady in her who wants to be loved. And when Shiva showed her the mask she realised that he really climbed the mountain for her( she obviously know the mask had went down the waterfall). This made her emotional for a moment and forgot everything of her mission for sometime. She may have wanted to love and be loved for once. It may be her last time. She was going for a suicidal mission from there.

The song when he lifts shivling ( the god) is a ancient sanskrit hymn in mythology , when ravana lifts shiva's home mountain for his mother ( similar to the scene)
And song when he makes the jump across cliff is a sanskrit hymn when hanuman (monkey god) is reminded of his unknown strength ( also similar to the scene)

Avantika wants to be a normal woman and that is shown when she is seeing herself in the water and when the hero showed her her true self and also how he see her she falls in love with him. Simple as that. He is not being creepy or anything.

In a scene ,where Shiva is riding on horse ,then he crosses boundary walls,then enter in water ,then jump from top ,and then the transformation appear there in which he look like a warrior,(the whole represent that the Shiva is going to became a warrior from that part, they showed 5 elements (air,water,fire,sky,earth) through which Shiva is passed while on horse and while entering the mahishamati kingdom

Most song sequences in Indian movies, if not all, are just dreamy sequences. They are just a representation of the love they share through the song and often larger than life show off. Don't have much adding to the plot except give a musical relaxation at some frequency all throughout the movie.

His mom was pouring water over the idol to get her wish granted: for her son to stop trying to climb the mountain. Since the son ends up moving it under the waterfall his wish gets granted: he is granted the inspiration he needed to make it up the mountain.

eventhough bahubali is a huge budget i dont normally suggest it to foreigners exactly bcoz of this reason, (what you felt at that song)...
you can watch
1.k.g.f 1 and 2 , again there are some male chavinistic bits but the hero isnt supposed to be ideal he is a an antihero at most (its live action anime)
2. 3 idiots (comedy, one of the best indian movies that you can relate too)
4. Dangal (sports drama)
5. sardar udham (biopic)
6. Tummbad ( mythical fantasy horror)
7. drishyam 1 and 2 (watch the original malayalam version - the movie was remade to almost all indian languages and even chinese and korean remake is on the way, so please watch original malayalam 2013 version)
8. eega (fantasy movie with a housefly as the main protagonist)

yes there are lot of religious undertones and names and symbolism and references in SS rajamaulis's movies and there are many dream and symbolic things which are just for audience like the large gold statue, cloud babhubali in the end and the clothes burnt off and there is the Armour...its for the audience and for the dramatic effect its not really happening the movie world or what characters see...
"Magadheera" a must watch film from the same director and actor of RRR i.e Rajamouli and Ramcharan respectively.
It was the first 100 crores gross film of tollywood at the time of release.

Shiva - brought ganga ( holy river )to earth and slowed her fall thru his headlocks , so shiva is always depicted in pictures and some statues with ganga on his head. So is worshipped pouring water on his head . Offering water , milk is form of worship
Sardar Udham is a must. But see it with an indian lens.

I totally get the girls' reaction with Shiva's behaviour with avanthika, but guys, he just wants to show, her beauty to herself and this was the beauty he imagined to make the big climbe successfuly, which she also did not realise as she was raised a warrior and the only mission was save devangi. You will change your opinion about shiva by the end of the story

@vikranttomar921 it's not, they are just used to American movies style , obviously he wasn't graping her, the point of the song was he was trying to show her how beautiful she is nothing more than that, but the mindset in the majority of the western audience specially the women who also are feminists are used to nowdays Hollywood where the woman is the most powerful thing and you shouldn't focus on her beauty which is wild idea, the rest or the world is normal.
I think the point is avanthika is possessed with the idea of freeing devasena and forgets who she is, now Shiva wants to show her that she is more than just that person and that's the way director choose show it. But big up to the "crew" 😄 it shook them but still they tried to keep an open mind.
The Black statue is called a shivling a statue of lord shiva its actually impossible to lift that up for everyone it is so heavyyyy

Kattappa isnt a slave, In ancinet times some families are trusted to closely chosen to serve kings. They are kept in high positions compared to normal People. Coz they are most trustable. You know.
Even now you can visit Indian temples.. there are so many 50ft 60ft taller gold pillars in temple.. and that made out of whole solid gold .. not plated
in older times the statues were made entirely of GOLD and not gold plated, as of today also many statues you see india are made of gold or silver. We still have many of them in indian temples, and britishers mostly stole some.

So about the scene with Shiva carrying the God's statue to the waterfall: Lord Shiva is a Hindu deity. There's a legend that says that Shiva once drank poison for the betterment of the world and for that he has a burning throat that's also blue in color. We offer milk, water or honey to the God so that he can feel some kind of relief from the discomfort caused by the poison. That's why Shiva's mom was hell bent on pouring water over the God in order to please him.
