When you’re talking about the difference of superheroes in Hollywood and characters in Indian cinema, I think that’s because the concept of a “hero” in Indian cinema is different. It isn’t limited to a superheroes/fantasy characters, a hero can be a normal person, a hero is just someone that is larger than life. It’s a very interesting concept in Indian cinema and in my opinion is what makes it so enjoyable to watch.
One movie that really hits this concept in a great way is 3 Idiots…mainstream and popular but literally so good. 😊
@@aunjaliepatel4174 they should definitely do an episode on 3 Idiots!!!
@@aunjaliepatel4174There are many movies which are more realistic, like Sardar Udham!
@@STARK50 hm 😊
Aamir khan is the GOAT of Indian cinema @@aunjaliepatel4174
omg the fact that this podcast will even watch movies i grow up watching as an indian makes me love the try guys and guilty pleasures even more than i do!!! ❤❤❤
ME TOO
🥺🥺❣️❣️
"will even watch"
lick their boots too while you're at it
tvish, I like your dressing sense, can you give this creep your insta ID , So I can appreciate and like a few later.
Garrick’s soul leaving his body while Kelsey told that clear coffin story made my week 😂😂😂
anybody got the time code? i missed this somehow lol
@@CinnamonBasicstarts around 12:55!
Please make “this is the horniest podcast about a movie that’s not that horny” your official tagline because very on brand
Well it was at least for the song part
Did we watch the same movie? The man literally climbed up a waterfall because he was horny for a girl he's never met.
As someone who watched this movie when it originally came out in theatres, I remember watching the end, freaking out and then going to my Indian classical dance class the next day, and all of my dance friends and I were just discussing the ending for a good 30 minutes before we actually got into class. And then we had to wait TWO YEARS to find out why because the movie kept getting delayed and it was possibly the most frustrated I have ever been about a movie being released ever.
Also the amount of memes that were created within those 2 years on why karappa would’ve killed baahubali are hilarious
The way my jaw DROPPED when Kelsey revealed she watched RRR dubbed. I have seen it 4 times, twice subbed by myself, and twice dubbed with family members who refused to consider watching any other way. Note to my family: Come on, people! Listen to the beauty of another language.
Props to passionate dubbers who are great at their jobs but, come on, unless you're dyslexic or something, sub is the way to go. Especially on smaller films/series that can't yet afford proper dubbing.
@@cheesecakelasagna Yes if you have a disability definitely dub if that is good for you
@@anonymouslyopinionated656No, in hindi version you hear Ram Charan and NTR's original voice. But when you watch English version all the voices are dubbed by some other people. If the film was planned to be released in particular language before release you cannot call it dub as lot of work goes into choosing right words in that language while dubs are mostly just translation.
I gained so much respect for Ian after this episode! I love how well he understands the indian audience's perception of our movies and how earnestly we bask in the protagonist's glory. Although I am also someone who finds the typical tollywood over-the-top action sequences quite funny and can't take them too seriously myself, he's right that most of the audience fully immerses themselves in the movie's world and just genuinely revel in its grandiosity. They truly, unironically, enjoy it for what it is. For them, the primary appeal lies in the hero's badassery and his absurd superhuman strength, rather than the comedic value of the obvious implausibility of beating 20 dudes at once and effortlessly tossing an elephant into the air. Glad all of you found a way of appreciating and having fun with the movie tho! Really hope you do more episodes on bollywood/tollywood movies. Just wanted to give Ian some brownie points for his cultural sensitivity!
You can see how happy zach is when Ian’s talking about getting smosh back. He feels so proud and happy for them as he knows what it is to have something they made become theirs. ❤
Highly recommend Eega! same director and super campy. it’s about a man getting reincarnated as a fly and having to save his love interest from the man who killed him
I never thought I would see the day when Zac would scream Bahubali…
Same
Rajamouli actually has a cameo in this film just before the manohari song as the alcohol vendor
Ian spitting facts about “beyond Indian Americans” under 3 minutes at the beginning was a really kind thing to say. As an Indian who’s a Guilty Whore, we love the inclusion ❤😊
Easter egg from Baahubali 1 : the guy who sells liquor is the director SS Rajamouli (cameo)
Gerrick's face while Kelsey was SO EXCITED talking about the snakes had me DECEASED 😂😂 Forever appreciating them sitting next to each other 😂
There is a fun fact for those who watched Bahubali for the first time and/or are not as well versed with this kind of cinema: in the flashback, the undercover scene at the market/bar, where bahubali (the father) distracts with the alcohol and the dance, and bhallaldeva goes looking for information, the bartender who serves the drink is actually the director himself, the man the myth the legend, Mr. SS Rajamouli. So there you go, a nice fun trivia.
i think this is the 3rd time ive paused a guilty pleasures right at the start of the episode bc im already convinced i wanna see the film by the groups excitement, gone and watched the film, then returned to the vid for the vibes
One of the best Baahubali discussion on the internet. Can't wait for the review/discussion of the 2nd part
3 idiots is such an amazing indian movie and is one of the best movies till this day!!
Wow wasn't expecting this, SO EXCITED. Loveed both Baahubali movies.
And if you're looking for some bollywood suggestions - Dil Chahta Hai is my absolute favourite movie of all time. Also ZNMD and Dil Dhadakne Do.
They should definitely watch ZNMD
Omg ZNMD is my fav
ZNMD FOR THE WIN!
I'm thinking Bajirao Mastani for powerful women and gorgeous cinematography, 3 Idiots for a modern day comedy.
ZNMD
Just the knowledge that you guys are reacting to bahubali has revived me
Edit: it's not tollywood but pleaseee watch znmd or dil dhadakne do. I would straight up die
I'VE BEEN THINKING THIS FOR AGES!!!
@@kurshid7866 those movies deserve more. Farhan Akhtar deserves more simps✊
Lmao not everyone boo-ing kelsey for watching w dubs instead of subs. But relatable
"Omgggg u use a accessibility feature!,?@? BboOoo"
imagine being that way 😂
Yoooo!! Was hoping you'd check these movies out after RRR. Baahubali 1&2 are some of my favorites!
Edit: The movies were actually made in both Telugu and Tamil. Some of the major roles (like Katapa) are actually played by Tamil actors. They did this to appeal to Tamil audiences; I like the Telegu script a bit more but the Tamil version is great too.
My best friend & I watch both of the Baahubali movies each year on New Year’s Eve!
I just finished both of the movies and I loved them! Another great recommendation. The actresses who played the Queen Mother and Devesana both gave really powerful performances.
Movie rec:
🎞 _Bajirao Mastani_ for powerful women and gorgeous cinematography
🎞 _3 Idiots_ for a modern day (00's) comedy and mental health story
THIS
This is such a good movie both part one and two. Y'all definitely need to talk about part two because the opening scene is soooo good and its my favorite part in the film. I guarantee watching this film in the movie theaters is a better experience. The people who saw it in theaters were so lucky.
I'm saving this to listen to at work tmrw but omg YES FINALLY!
Baahubali was introduced to me by my ex and one of my best friends and it's now a staple in my home to watch once a year. Even my dad, a black 69-yr-old man, will quote the shit out of this and tell everyone to watch it if he gets asked if he knows any Bollywood/Tollywood films 😂
This is my favorite podcast! Garrick Is the OG
A 3-parter "Globe trotting Action-adventure-drama" is on its way guys
SS Rajamouli will be on a world domination with that project🔥🔥
EDIT: For Bahubali 2, brace yourselves for the most EPIC Opening Credits ever🔥
Full circle moment for me, came here to listen to RRR Podcast and listening to Baahubali today. Good Job, you guys!
Ever since ian said he like rrr Ive been hoping he would watch baahubali. im so excited for yall to watch the second one in my opinion its way better!!!!
Lol I agree on the beard and bald head point. The man (or woman) upstairs gave us balding men two choices: be bald, or be balding. With the beard, it’s an easy choice to be bald.
Edit: Garrick is with it for listening to That Mexican OT. He truly has an interesting combination of Texas rap and his heritage.
The reason why you can't compare this a Marvel superhero movie is because it's an epic film!
Epic films are inspired by Indian mythology, so they're more mythical/god like creatures than they're superheroes.
Hey guys just my two cents here . India does have badass women kicking butt along with the male counterpart. Check out “Mard ko dard nahin hota”. It’s a wild ride, right up there among the movies you love already.
I'm thinking Bajirao Mastani.
Next movie you should watch is EEGA (2012) from the same director, S S Rajamouli
Trust me,,when you watch EEGA from same director , you're gonna put it above RRR. You'll find yourself empathizing , cheering and rooting for a fly.
They should watch eega lmaoo. They’re gonna go bat shit crazyyy
The part about sex scenes or kissing scenes is not true. Several movies and tv shows have them:
Mirzapur
Dolly, Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitaare
Arjun Reddy
Lust Stories
Arya
Jism
Befikre
Bandit Queen
Sacred Games
Love, Sex, Aur Dhokha
Margarita with a Straw, and many more.
37:58 I like how he gave them spoilers about why kattapa killed bahubali cause he was following the orders and just back down silently. 😂😂
I waited for this because of Ian and that day! Incredible
Pls do SARDAR UDHAM next!!! Its an absolute masterpiece in filmmaking. Absolute masterpiece.
If you can try watching the movie in the original Telugu version please do bc the voices of the actors and actresses are chef's kiss. Also, I agree Tollywood is home to some backward ideas and there is still a lot of change needed in the messages they put in movies like actresses are just accessory characters most of the time.
Another pro to having subs on: you remember the character names better.
DO THE SECOND PART ITS ESSENTIAL 😩
will you guys have to pivot to foreign content because of the sag strike and the no promoting works from struck companies? if so, i would really love if you guys could cover some more asian media like this because there are so many hidden gems out there!
Yes! I want to hear Garrick talk about Suzume ☺️💕
@@Avara8888 I really want to hear their thoughts on Ok Madam and Midnight Runners!
That moment when she said she watched dubbed version 🤣🤣🤣🤣..... 😂😂😂😂😂😂🔥🔥🔥
Telugu version isn't available on Netflix
zach’s face by kelsey was a jumpscare
Bahubali 1 and 2 🔥❤
i dunno if anyone said it.. the strength of the main character in this particular movie is kind of his defining characteristic.
bahubali literally translated to = the one with strong arms in telugu
.. that's how the queen names him , when he's a baby and holds her finger she feels his strength and that's why she names him baahubali
Garrick's such a king for mentioning the caste system and how even in America lower caste Indians will face discrimination 👑
I am low caste guy and have more govt privileges and more!!
We are not racist along with govt!!
I do agree that as someone who for the first 6 years of my life only saw Indian movies and still continues to watch it, RRR and Bahubali were only noteworthy in their scale and budget but not at all noteworthy in every other aspect.
I hope y'all continue to watch other Indian movies that aren't just Western audience bait.
kelsey no! the girl who is chained up is baahubalis wife/ shivas mom
the queen is baahubali’s adoptive mom who takes in baahubali when he was a baby
Had to pause and go back when I heard Kelsey mention "shibari" bECAUSE I DIDN'T THINK THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID. Turns out, it was. And it was glorious.
Dang i didnt catch that. At the sex party part?
Where’s part 2????
Garrick's water bottle is so big it gave me anxiety considering how many times I'd have to pee if I carried that monster around 😅
I had to do an assignment to get a job but I saw this.
This is more important
Where is the part 2???
I am SO EXCITED to watch both movies!
51:00 this is where it gets interesting 😂
One twist at the end of Baahubali beginning movie (Kattapa killed Bahubali) guaranteed recovery of Baahubali 2 budget. Over billion people waited for 8 months for the second movie and millions of discussions on why Kattapa killed Baahubali.
My main take away= I need to see guilty pleasures mustaches!
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS EPISODE!!! I saw the post yall made with Ian and wondered what movie y'all talked abt since then :>>
When you gonna watch all trailers of ... Kalki Movie ... it will be huge. ...
That guy looks like Ryan Ranolds😂❤
Ya'll got the story so wrong it hurts 😂 and the actor that plays the main character, Baahubali, is not Rana Daghubati. Bahubaali is played by Prabhas. Rana Daghubati plays Baahubali Senior's evil cousin.
are you guys going to do Nimona?
Omg yes
*Where is Part 2 review?????*
before the song sequence you are talking about....there is scene where the actress is looking at her on reflection on the river and disturbs it as she didn't like what she looked like.......and during the fight song sequence he was trying to make her look good and show her that she was beautiful..... but he needed get armour out, to do that
51:00 plot twist 😂
i looked it up on netflix and colombia's only has part 2 :(
I can’t wait till y’all watch part 2 - y’all will go INSANEEEEE
Wow you guys are watching indian movies really makes me very proud and happy.
i cant lie. i love the way zach says Baahubali 😂😂
am i the only one being confused about Ian's and Miles's voices??? They are SOOO SIMILAR! their style and tone is different, but they could totally mimic each other!
Garrick’s face during Kelsey’s snake story.
Guys can’t wait for you to check out another Biggie from Tollywood that released its teaser in San Diego Comic con Hall- H. ProjectK or KALKI 2898 AD is a franchise from Telugu cinema. Will definitely intrigue you guys. 🙌
You should watch Kgf and Kgf 2 then you'll love it
Ian? I love smoosh
After watching Enthiran Robo movie you will fall in love with Indian cinema ❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Waiting for Bahubali-The Conclusion Podcast
Where the bahubali part 2???
I SAW THEM IN THEATRE HAD TO FUVKING WAIT FOR THE CONCLUSION T-T
Great Review...
I wanna recommend you a criticproof INDIAN MOVIE...
SARDAR UDHAM ( 2021) is the best indian movie ever made.
IMDB 8.4.
ROTTEN TOMATOES 94%
(Highly critically acclaimed)
Mark my words you will not forget this movie.
It will break your stereotype regarding indian movies that they are only song and dance and fun.
**It will change your top 10 movie list of all times.**
IT IS A MODERN CLASSIC.
**You'll experience the new dimension of Indian Cinema.**
**An exceptional Gem.**
(I am not exaggerating at all)
Why I am recommending it so much??
Movie will answer you.
THANK YOU Brother.
We want Bahubali the conclusion part 2 movie review
Indian movies have great woman centric movies also. Please see Neeraja. It is atrue story.
Bahubali is not the last name.. it is a monicker which means “one with legendary strength” Literal meaning in Sanskrit Bahu = arms, Bali = strength.. it’s like a title the people called him. The father’s name is Amarendra and the son’s name is Shivudu. Indians didn’t really have a last name but had to come up with something coz of the British colonisation.. so ppl use their town, caste or father’s name or title as “last name”
You gotta watch Sardar Utham's gut-wrenching movie, should have been sent to the Oscars but didn't, nonetheless, the movie is highly realistic from the screenplay to the visual representation of all the events which took place. Totally the opposite of RRR and bahubali style filming but still a great one to watch.
Enthiran Robo movie is a must watch Indian movie
this podcast is not on tumblr lmaoooo "Big Naturals" is already a thing, my dudes!
They have to legally put that the animal is CGI. And also they have to put that smoking is injurious to health when someone is smoking.
I have a question. Did they say or mention what movie they're doing next podcast? Do they ever say the movies they will do each next podcast?
I am so fucking psyched. 🥺🥺🥺💓💓💓 World's colliding again
You guys should watch kaithi and vikram. Its the beginning of lokiverse from kollywood[tamil movies]
When is the podcast for second part ??
Guys we need a part 2 reviewwwww!!!
So i watched the english version (not knowing it was 21 minutes shorter) and they completely cut out the scene where baahubali the father has the sex dance and was so confused what they were talking about 46:05.
came back to say that I watched Oppenheimer and we need an episode please 🥹
The lead actor is PRABHAS not RANA DAGGUPATI. Rana is the villain, the brother.
Aaarhhhhhh SOUTH ASIA REPRESENT!!
I'm once again requesting close captions :')
So for the pleasures section of the podcast is garrick talking about Peso pluma ? Who is he talking about i wanna know. Im more of a regetonera but i do listen to some corridors tumbados
