  • In this video i install a relatively cheap pair of antennas to vastly improve our farm off grid internet. we already use 4g lte for internet but now we have directional antennas focused on our nearest tower. this video is an easy run through of how to set it up. If your 4g router doesn't have CA... Get a 4G+ capable router if your cell provider do Carrier Aggregation. You might get 50 to 60Mbps on a good day.
Also, try to look into Parabolic 4G antennas... Those have insane range. 😅😳

    •  6 месяцев назад

If possible, also check which CAs are supported. For example, in Europe B8+20 can make much sense (basically get double speeds) but is quite rare to find (on the hardware side, X55 based routers support it but no low-band 5G CA). And obviously n71 for the US or B32 for Europe.

Hi, do you think such antennas perform better than "triangle-shaped in plastic case" LTE antennas? I think inside they have the same metal elements. Do you know which dB gain those have? I see you also mounted them with 45 degree angles - did you also try + polarization or only X?

@@AshGreen359 it should work just fine actually, a single antenna should be as effective as 2 due to cellular networks being radiowaves, thus they are transverse, only way 2 could improve the signal is by having some sort of constructive interference. But it really depends on your setup and location and kit. I would just do a bit of trial and error as you never know.

Works sweet I'm still using it the same way now mounted on my barn, multiple devices and TVs can be streaming at once. Sometimes in heavy rain it drops a bit but wind doesn't seem to bother it. You could always mount it to a second hand telephone pole for more stability I use ee for the sim card they seem to have the best rural bandwidth round here, I'm 8 miles from what they call a super cell tower lol

My 4g on the phone here is non existing, we are 11 miles or so from the tower. Any external aerial on a router should get you better speed that ur phone if you already get good ones. We have changed providers also that doubled our speed 👌

    •  6 месяцев назад

If you happen to get a good antenna or live in such a great position that the LOS to one site isn‘t possible, this still may work. For example, I have a 5G tower here which is obstructed by a hill in a really bad way and holding my phone in the air gives me 700 instead of 200 Mbps.

"I just bought this £95,000 pound milking parlor, so here's the dog'y 10 year old PC that would not sell on a pykie's car boot for more than a fiver to run it!! I absolutely love the spit n' bailing wire ability of farmers to bodge anything.... unless I happen to be the guy brought in to fix anything technical bodged in the same way. You spend 5 hours trying to fix the mess, charge 2 hours for what it should have taken and then accidentally trip over their new "beamer" when they ask for discount. I did the computing behind dairy masters first twin parlor system in the UK and debugged the software to get it working....between milking's. Long time ago, you lot were a handful but I did like working for you guys.
