Kid Icarus Uprising 3DS is balanced! There certainly isn't a video by me titled "Kid Icarus Uprising 3DS is broken" about it! Also about KIU: -Weapon modifiers in general are balanced instead of warranting a video that calls out various abuses that they enable! -Items like Smart Bomb are well balanced, instead of involving things like continuous freeze frames that mock Super Armor! -Celestial Fireworks is a balanced Power, and is most certainly not anything like the "Bubbler" thing that you described! -Gemini Orbitars is balanced! It most certainly does not have a Forward or Side Shot capable of being undodgeable at 50 meters with just Homing Boost! -Raptor Claws is a very elegant weapon! It definitely doesn't involve one-note gameplay of "just breathe on the other guy with your melee" for absurd reward for being one of the most mobile weapon types in the game! -The Freeze debuff is not degenerate! You simply got 40s base damage breathed upon you and thus deserve to be a completely immobilized punching bag with no consolation if you're not ridiculously quick with the Effect Recovery! -The UI is great! Who needs to know whether somebody has Powers like Super Armor, Petrify Attack, Homing Boost, Slip Shot, Libra Sponge, Lightweight, or Bumblebee active without having to look at the bottom screen? (Note: Libra Sponge is viewable on the player but can be blocked by Aries Armor. It's also hard to discern from Energy Charge, which already sees popular use, without checking the bottom screen.) -It's wonderful to not be able to decipher how long Powers with variable duration (LIGHTWEIGHT) have been active just because the user just happened to have picked up an item! And this is the stuff that comes to mind that a remaster should address.
it may be the least balanced entry, utterly broken and even unplayable at times/soon to be completely, but this was the game that sold me on motion controls supporting sticks in fpses

Having only played Splatoon 1 for the first time in that week the servers shut down, yes. Not because Splatoon 1 was so hell but because it was actually more balanced than the other two games and now they're stuck with either pretendo servers or having to play the two worse games
@@Spectacular66 It's crazy because I think the single biggest mistake they ever made was completely deleting every old special and replacing them with ones that are way less satisfying to use and range from stupid to useless

1:45 One slight critique here, you absolutely can jump out and I even remember doing it myself a few times. It's just that jumping out is worse in general in splatoon 1 (one sub of quick super jump isn't a thing, stealth jump neuters your ability to escape with it, and quick respawn makes it less worth anyway). So while you still can't really jump out, toxic mist isn't what's stopping that from being an option. Otherwise though this is pretty spot on lol

I actually managed to get consistent splats with seeker, if the enemy team isn’t paying attention it can easily one-shot them. The only problem is you have to make sure that your secret is going to be able to reach them.
I still enjoyed this game despite all the chaos of the stuff that was broken! Man, I had so much fun with the N-ZAP ‘89 and even going all out to get to S+ during the last days of the online servers… even more so how I tried multiple times but had crappy teammate’s who wouldn’t listen to me and anyone who was willing to assist. A good E-Liter player scared anyone and everyone, I remember getting inspired to pick the weapon up and spent months trying to get good at it (I was a Kelp Splatterscope fan). God, I just remember in this brief period between jobs where I was unemployed I would stay up until dawn playing that weapon trying so hard to master it. It was so worth it though. So satisfying! I also really liked the Bamboozler, a weapon I remember trying to use as a joke, until I saw a few good players use it super well, and realized there was some potential. It was always fun ripping maps to shreds because no one would expect it. These were such good times, I miss them, but they're fun to look back on as well.

I think Bomb Rush got replaced with Super Chump. They both scatter individual "bombs" around a certain area, the difference being that the bombs from Bomb Rush/Bomb Launcher are released one at a time whereas Super Chumps are released all at once.
I didn't mention this in my first comment, because it was already getting long enough: I preferred when the Zink Mini Splatling had Curling Bomb and Ink Storm. Also, the Custom E-Liter 4K Scope was my favorite charger in Splatoon 1, but only because charge storing didn't exist. In Splatoon 2, it's the New Squiffer, and in Splatoon 3, it's the Splat Charger.
As someone who never got to play splatoon and had splatoon 3 as my first game in the series, this game looks like heaven. I want to play it sooo bad lol
Unfortunately for me, I had no way of enjoying my final moments of Splatoon 1. That's because since 2021, I have stored my old Wii U in the ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) behind my house. This year my dad started renting out our ADU to people to use as a home, and when they announced the shutdown, there was someone using the ADU, and they had it until October. That meant my Wii U was totally inaccessible to me. Otherwise, I would've been playing Splatoon 1 practically every free second I got until the shutdown. The better Quick Respawn was a prime reason why I still loved Splatoon 1. That will probably be the thing I miss the most. The Aerospray is already almost a 4HKO. You barely need Damage Up to enable 4HKO mode. The best feature of Damage Up, though, is that it affects sub weapons as well. I really don't like how they got rid of Damage Up/Main Power Up in Splatoon 3. And Defense Up was indeed another thing I miss. I didn't really like the special depletion system. The only problem I had with it was that my favorite weapon, the Gold Dynamo Roller, ended up getting a 75% depletion. It's like having Respawn Punisher, but rock bottom. I can understand why they replaced Disruptor with Toxic Mist. But even so, Disruptor is hands down the worst sub in Splatoon 1 in my opinion. Perhaps the Burst Bomb combo having been broken is the reason why we no longer have a slosher with Burst Bomb. But if it was up to me, the Dread Wringer would have Burst Bomb and Booyah Bomb. Although I do like the Inkzooka better than the Trizooka, I also like the Inkjet better than the Inkzooka. Even so, the brokenness of the Inkzooka was real. I do wish the Dual Squelcher returned. If it was up to me, the Dual Squelcher would have Suction Bomb and Ink Armor in Splatoon 2, then Suction Bomb and Tacticooler in Splatoon 3, and the Custom Dual Squelcher would have Squid Beakon and Ink Storm in Splatoon 2, then Squid Beakon and Ink Vack in Splatoon 3. I also don't like them getting rid of the Bomb Launchers in Splatoon 3. I do, however, consider Super Chump to be a successor to it. In conclusion, I'm gonna miss Splatoon 1. Hopefully with mods we'll be able to bring it back in the future.
They had it add another kilo onto e-liter because its range was too gosh darn big. That thing was so oppressive and if you could even hit someone with it from time to time they HAD to respect you. Oh yeah and they later gave it kraken! Fun… (it was fun but not in a balanced way like all of Sploon1 and I miss it every day)
i have so many memories with this game ever since 2015 ive always wanted it, and in christmas 2018 i got to play it, and it did live up to what i was expecting i will never not love this game
to defence of splatoon 1, it's more fun becouse everything is broken, there is no useless special and every weapon is useful, while in splatoon 3 there is just few specials that are ultra broken and most are weak, good example of bad balance in splat 3 is bubbler vs any special that deals dmg (inkzooka, kraken, triple inkstrike, booyah bomb) becouse bubbler doesn't have enough health to be as good as any other special, same with inkjet and zipcaster, it's too easy to destroy, while booyah bomb and triple splashdown get armors even tho they are too op already while specials that require armor to be any useful (i know they are useful but they are too hard for most of casuals becouse there are much stronger weapons that counter them) don't get any, it's much harder to attack with inkjet than booyah bomb
Hot Take, but if someone krackens just shoot back they take insane kb. In fact I usually killed kracken players when they went after me. I even killed someone by baiting them onto the grates in Bluefin depot, though that was turf war. If u mained roller, blaster or charger it would be an actual threat but otherwise it just looks cool and is good if ur opponent is low ink or if u corner them with another player. So kracken is basically more useful for running away even though it's kinda lame. p.s Splatoon 3 Kracken actually kills, but I think the aesthetic design in splatoon 1 was better.
...Are hackers really all that prevalent in Splat 1? I've heard many people talk about how many there are, but after 100 or so hours of playing (most of which in 2018 and later), I've encountered... like, 3? Nowhere near as many as I hear other people suggest. Maybe I've just lucky?? Well done video btw! Gonna miss 1's official support
Same, at some point everyone was making videos with splatoon 1 hackers in them at the splatoon2 time And everyone talking about how easily and fast they met hackers in public lobbies And when i tried to play for hours to meet at least one hacker it was completely unsuccessful
Quick Respawn and Stealth Jump (and the gear ability that speeds up your super jumps) all exist in S2 and S3 as well. They may not have been as strong, but it's not like these were S1-exclusive abilities. Sub strafing is not "broken" by any means. It also isn't exclusive to S1.
QR and stealth jump are in the future games, but the way they function was changed to not be busted like in s1. Stuff like having the Stealth jump marker visible when you are near it, or QR only activating when you didn't get a splat. In S1, these balancing measures weren't there. QR activated all the time no matter what and stealrh jump was Completely invisible. This is what made those abilities broken compared to now
I take this video more as a "there's a list of what made splat1 feel like splatoon1" as they mentionned a bunch of stuff that aren't broken Majority are broken But some aren't and they even admitted it in their video in some points
As a former Dual Squelchers main, I can confirm that the weapon and sub weapon combo paired with the Echolocator was the most broken piece of shit ever, and I'm not apologetic about it. I'mma miss it dearly...
One piece of jank that I wouldn't at all mind to see return are the maps. Were they weird? Yes. Unbalanced? Yes, sometimes even literally. Competitively unviable? C'mon, you don't even have to ask that one. But above all else, they were goofy fun, goddamnit-

2:14 I felt it
damn i miss this game might have to sign up to P to play again
And this is what made SPLATOON… SPLATOON!
They had it add another kilo onto e-liter because its range was too gosh darn big. That thing was so oppressive and if you could even hit someone with it from time to time they HAD to respect you. Oh yeah and they later gave it kraken! Fun… (it was fun but not in a balanced way like all of Sploon1 and I miss it every day)
I miss disruptor so much man 😭
i forget how small splat1 maps are
i have so many memories with this game
ever since 2015 ive always wanted it, and in christmas 2018 i got to play it, and it did live up to what i was expecting
i will never not love this game
heyyy you seem kinda familiar
@@Gerton999 hello
@@grumos8455 hi there grumos
to defence of splatoon 1, it's more fun becouse everything is broken, there is no useless special and every weapon is useful, while in splatoon 3 there is just few specials that are ultra broken and most are weak, good example of bad balance in splat 3 is bubbler vs any special that deals dmg (inkzooka, kraken, triple inkstrike, booyah bomb) becouse bubbler doesn't have enough health to be as good as any other special, same with inkjet and zipcaster, it's too easy to destroy, while booyah bomb and triple splashdown get armors even tho they are too op already while specials that require armor to be any useful (i know they are useful but they are too hard for most of casuals becouse there are much stronger weapons that counter them) don't get any, it's much harder to attack with inkjet than booyah bomb
I never played The original Splatoon but now I wish I did. All of the “broken” mechanics look fun!
They’re fun in a nostalgic looking back at them, I wouldn’t want to play this in comp lmao
Man, I was a beast in Splatoon 1. I tried Splat 3 turf war and got destroyed. The new gens got it :(
womp womp
...Are hackers really all that prevalent in Splat 1? I've heard many people talk about how many there are, but after 100 or so hours of playing (most of which in 2018 and later), I've encountered... like, 3? Nowhere near as many as I hear other people suggest. Maybe I've just lucky??
Well done video btw! Gonna miss 1's official support
Same, at some point everyone was making videos with splatoon 1 hackers in them at the splatoon2 time
And everyone talking about how easily and fast they met hackers in public lobbies
And when i tried to play for hours to meet at least one hacker it was completely unsuccessful
Splatoon 1 was the reason my lil bro broke the wii u pad lmao
This is what made those abilities broken compared to now
@@kirbybim3684 just look up in the sky like what the comp players did (desolate)
sub strafing was also not available on beakon weapons as well but they patched it into the game in an early update in S2.
I take this video more as a "there's a list of what made splat1 feel like splatoon1" as they mentionned a bunch of stuff that aren't broken
Majority are broken
But some aren't and they even admitted it in their video in some points
Zones piranha pit was so fun tho imo but I am a zimi main LOL
I still need my broken version back ;(
As a former Dual Squelchers main, I can confirm that the weapon and sub weapon combo paired with the Echolocator was the most broken piece of shit ever, and I'm not apologetic about it. I'mma miss it dearly...
Honestly Splatoon with no respawn timer would be so damn good (except Anarchy battles)
I want my wii back
One piece of jank that I wouldn't at all mind to see return are the maps. Were they weird? Yes. Unbalanced? Yes, sometimes even literally. Competitively unviable? C'mon, you don't even have to ask that one.
But above all else, they were goofy fun, goddamnit-
