      @@bjs7442The Q7 does not share the same chassis as the Q8/Cayenne/Urus etc. It also came out later. It shares the same platform but that's nearly meaningless.

Yes I’d love the Ferrari but I couldn’t bring myself to drop that much cash on a car. To my eyes the Bentley is really not a looker. • @Rascallucci
    @Rascallucci Месяц назад +2

    I cannot honestly believe you totally missed out on the biggest selling point of the Purosangue. Come on lads, it is the naturally aspirated V12! That alone sells the car because there is simply nothing like it on the market. No V8 turbo can match the visceral driving experience of a V12, both in terms of how you can rev it out and of course as well as its amazing accompanying soundtrack. Also, the luggage capacity doesn't matter when you are driving Purosangue. If you are going on a long trip, it will be with your significant other and not with a truckload of kids. The winner of this group test no doubt is the Ferrari. If you are after comfort and practicality with a touch of sportiness, then we are talking about a different category of SUVs already. At that point, you could group the Bentayga with say a Range Rover Sport, a BMW X5M or a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.

    This could be a problem when it comes to enthusiastic EVs. Part of the fun of driving such a car is the sound of the engine. I enjoy the growl from my Cooper S convertible when you push it. I had great fun trying to keep up with a Kia Niro electric. The little mini accelerated with gusto with growl from exhaust a slight whine from gearbox and a whistle from the turbo and felt like it enjoyed the challenge. I bet the Niro driver barely noticed just how quick they accelerated from 30 to 60. I only just kept up! You really need a sound track. Surely by now they could minic a V8 or V12 and play it through the soundsystem and im not talking about that awful electronic racket that most noise synthesisers in cars achieve. A lot more high fidelity than that. The silence of an EV is preferable to a modern turbo 4 cyclinder petrol or diesel , but compared to a performance 6, 8 or 12 cylinder you dont get that tingle down the spine. If you spend close to 100k, you want that. I've had memorable drives in Porsche boxster 987 and mercedes SLK 55AMG and if they were silent I'm not sure they'd be as memorable. So then it's down to the chassis and the weight is a problem when it comes to making the car fun.

      if you can own a 400k € car which is even sold in the aftermarket for close to 700-900k € i think the running cost is the least of your problems

    In this test, which is a bit unfair or just odd, is there really a question ? The Purosangue has a NA Ferrari V12. No other SUV stands a chance. I think the only one that could stand against it is the all new DBX707 and maybe the new Urus ( something ), even tho I think it has a bit of its appeal.
    And to talk about Lotus heritage and then talk about a battery is really not the way

    The Lotus isn‘t a Lotus as it is made in China, the Ferrari isn‘t an SUV and the Bentley is a hybrid of Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7 underneath - But would be my choice, if they only would sell it with having a filler cap, made of real aluminium instead of plastics(typically Volkswagen beancounters) for a car at this price point 😉

    Very odd pairing or was this done by design with Whatcar? The Ferrari retails at over £300K and yet they picked a the Lotus at a third of the price and not even the quickest model, I think they wanted the Ferrari to look good.

    If you charged at home on 7.5p/kWh overnight (and every Eletre owner will have home charging), the Lotus fuel cost would be £17.92.

    bigger and bigger, heavier and heavier, soon we all be driving Daf trucks :) kinda stupid really when we look at it, should be looking at low damage structures and a race to light weight to protect our kids, not things that will knock down a school not just a pedestrian :)

    25:40 I feel these manufacturers have the public well and truly duped. I can guarantee that if you do a blind fold test, people will not be able to tell the difference between plastic and carbon fibre, so why pay these ridiculous amounts of money just for random bits of trim to he carbon fibre.

    That Lotus will get no where near 300 miles, Harry Metcalfe reckons you'll be lucky to get 200! The Ferrari is my favourite but I'll never be able to afford one anyway! I think the Aston DBX should be considered too. That Bentley is like a Chesterfield sofa on wheels!
