Thanks!! I love color!! I'm quite into the 16 seasonal color types (based on a person's natural body colors). To make a palette with that system, I think they'd basically stick to only pairing tints with tints for Springs (tints = add white or maybe off-whites to hues = pastels), shades with shades for Summers (shades = add gray to hues), tones with tones for Autumns (tones = add black or maybe other dark colors to hues), hues with hues for Winters (hues are pure). All within similar levels of warm/cool undertone, soft/bright intensity, and light/deep value. For example: a Soft Autumn palette is I guess only tones and/or shades - but only ones that are light to medium value, warm to neutral undertone, and very soft intensity. It can borrow some colors from its neighboring palettes of Soft Summer and Warm Autumn. Soft Autumn borders on Summer and is the most soft, light, subtle, gentle, muted/faded of the Autumns.
Throughout this whole video, my responses were loudly escalating. Starting from "oh that's a clever idea" to "ohhhh no he didn't?!" that's amazing! Thank you Greg!
Every minute I spend with Chris and Greg makes me one minute more bitter towards my 4-year University for failing to teach me these critical lessons, taking my money and throwing me out into the curb to fend for myself in the real world unprepared.
this is why Steve Jobs left this course u know .... u didn't left but u are conscious what that course gave u and what not and u are improving every now and then urself.. that's the important thing u know !
it might sound silly, but one of my favourite quick cheats for palettes (esp w/ colours im not as confident with using, like reds&umbers), is to grab a simple circle brush and turn the hue/saturation jitter up to 30-50%, draw a few lines, and then pick out the colours i need. works like a charm for me! making palettes with an analogous hue shift like the one Greg made for this video is also a REALLY good technique for shading and rendering pixel art! in my 10+ years of pixeling, ive found that it runs on a slightly different rule set within colour theory than larger scale digital art- leaning more heavily on optical illusion to make colour choices make sense to your eyes. if you want a peek into what im talking about, keysmash a few letters in black on mspaint and then zoom all the way in! you'll be surprised how many colours it takes to create black text
I never use any standard procedures to create a colour pallete..I start to draw using black or white color first and choose colours as per it's feeling I get using one colour after the other..it creates a great illustration for me.❤😍
thank you so much!! I was just working on a branding project and they were not happy with the color palette, and this definetly give me some new methods to create them. you guys rock.!
Wow! More than often I'm just stunned by the things you guys give away for free. The design industry is going to freakin explode just because of YOUS! Gregy Gunn thanks man. I think a follow-up video could be on selecting and how to integrate the colors in a brand.
Guys, if you need any sort of color palette organizer/maker, I recommend coolors. You can generate your own palettes, save them, play with them, learn how they look to different kinds of color blindness, automatically get combinations of tertiary colors, binary colors, etc. And they also have an extensive library of premade palletes if you just need a color pallete for a casual thing
as a huge colour nerd too, i loved this ! i know colour theory, but applying it is hard so i'll definitely use this trick to get more familiar with it :D
At the 4:30~ mark, how did you crop the color palette and allow for the hue/sat adjustment without photoshop making a mask? And for it to only effect the artwork? Thanks!
I love Greg's videos, and I'm loving the Color for Creatives course. But more important than that, I wish I could know Greg's astrological birth chart (for science)
I'm so grateful for this video! I'm blown away by this technique! It helps me to save a tonne of time! Don't you have a similar idea for picking fonts? ;)
Thanks man, really helped me out I am new to Designing and fonts and colors are something that has always looked ugly for me. I hope you can also share the kind of font you should use, when to go sharp edgy and when bold and rounded.
Wow man, I’m blown away. I’ve been stuck forever trying to choose / create palettes for my short animated movie, ans this, this … this might the ultimate method. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Saludos
Echoing what others have said already but this is a game changer. Been working as a graphic designer for 7 years and picking colour palettes always stressed me out. Excited to try this. Thank you!!!
50 shades of Greg 😂
and tints
I’d read that.

What is use of this bro
Honestly, I have to recommend this video to my University program Director : it'll so much help the first year students to perform with colors.
This make me more confident about picking a color pallet. Mind blown.
Me too! haha
I need color pallets for my game
Hey Niranjan, Are you thinking of buying the color course? Thanks
Man, I am so frustrated with my university at this point. WHY WON'T THEY TEACH THIS GOD DAMMIT
So we can exist. Otherwise we would have nothing to do.

The final montage is amazing! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
We need more Greg.

Sure. As of now, everything have been really good. I will give it a second watch after I finish it. That's when questions pop in my mind! (:
Each time I watch your videos on colour I learn something new!!
Me: "Ooh, now I know how to make color palettes".
Also Me: Procedes to go into color palette maker websites.
this is the best color palette video I've seen
At the 4:30~ mark, how did you crop the color palette and allow for the hue/sat adjustment without photoshop making a mask? And for it to only effect the artwork? Thanks!
You use the section or marquee tool to adjust. Try it out on a photo. Just click a circle or rectangle and then adjust any setting.
So helpful, thanks you
I love Greg's videos, and I'm loving the Color for Creatives course. But more important than that, I wish I could know Greg's astrological birth chart (for science)
Thanks Greg! That's super fun to try!

maybe you can try this if you like: www.adamsanborne.com/portfolio/manual-of-typography/
I love the way he simplifies the use of color but there are many hues and saturation sounds in this video. I love it balance.
Thanks man, really helped me out
I am new to Designing and fonts and colors are something that has always looked ugly for me.
I hope you can also share the kind of font you should use, when to go sharp edgy and when bold and rounded.
I don’t think you realise how this has helped me. MIND BLOWN 🤯. Going to try this with just a base of traidic and analogous and see what happens
I was looking for an answer, how to make tens of harmonic colors from standard 5-colors palette (like from color rant). How can I do that?
This channel is so awesome. I've never seen a video that made color...fun.
I love you Greg! ahahahah you make me laugh even when serious matters such as COLOR PALETTE. Genius!
This is FANTASTIC! Thank you!
I’m colorblind. This helps. 💪🏾
Happy to hear that! Value is a key component to making colors work together and that's something I wish everyone gave more thought.
this was really engaging to sit through and watch, just the right amount of talking and showing right form the start! thank you
10:16 - that's when magic happens
