Your one of the great one Josh. I appreciate your offer to code my injector , but I’m a couple hours away. Have a few locals that can do it. Just not my dealer any more. Thanks man. Keep up the great work.
I have a lesser, but similar issue on my B7 CRKA. You made this straightforward and not so intimidating. I'm contemplating just replacing all of mine at 100k mi. I have a knock but only when cold, and then it disappears. Thanks for uploading-
I drained the filter housing and filled with diesel purge, did that a couple times with filter changes. Might have made a slight difference but I’d just put that money towards injectors
I’m having the same issue on my 2013 CKRA Passat. It’s also throwing “SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold” and “Reductant system performance bank 1”. 10:03 What ever happened with your Nox issue? Did you find that it went away after a few drives with new injectors? You can find all kinds of fixes reading forums online (Nox censors, DEF pumps, DEF controllers, EGR valve replacement, DEF injector replacement, etc), but I’m not convinced it couldn’t be from faulty injectors.
Assuming you only removed the high pressure lines and injectors then just key on and crank. You could run the low pressure fuel pump with vcds/scan tool if you really wanted to

15:33 Hey Josh. Awesome video. I just came from my VW dealer with my 2013 Passat TDI. Number 3 injector needs replaced. Do you have any idea why they need recoded after replacement? I want to do it myself cause dealer wants $1000 to do it. Southern Ontario dealer. Would hate to have to take it to them to recode it.
It’s an injector calibration code, so the ecu will use it to adjust timing. If your anywhere near Kitchener/Waterloo I can code them, I imagine it’ll run fine even without the cal code inputted.
Hey Josh, My passat has this exact same issue when first started. My injector readings in vcds are 0.17 for cylinder 1, -0.16 for #2, -0.14 for #3, and 0.14 for #4. It is Malone tuned. Any ideas of what else it could be? Maybe timing on the tune?
I don’t think the injector reading would pick it up, the idle stabilization is only until 1500 rpm and the injector knock doesn’t start until after 1800. I had read somewhere in the tdi groups the ecu does something with timing when cold and not when hot which is why the injector knock is noticeable only when cold around that 1800-2200. You could try concentrated diesel purge but I didn’t notice a big difference, I imagine you’ll get a torque difference code shortly.
That’s what my 14’ Passat TDI sounds like when it’s cold outside and the engine hasn’t warmed up yet. Goes away when the engine is up to temp. Question tho: when taking off the high pressure lines, do you NEED to depressurize? Having a hard time finding how to do that.
Personally I let it sit for 10 minutes or so and crack the line loose (put a rag over it if your concerned). I would think unplugging the hpfp and cranking it over for 15 seconds would de-pressurize it as well but I’m not 100% sure on that.
Nice job! I find the thought of VCDS intimidating, but I've got an 06 TDI, right now I'm doing the DMF and clutch on the DSG, do you know if I would need to use VCDS to re-code anything when I'm done? Thanks 😉👍
The code specifically is a torque difference code so fuel/air/compression can all cause that code, although the injector is common on the ckra. The high pressure pump can grenade and send metallic to all the injectors but if it’s getting that bad it’ll throw a low rail pressure code as the pump can’t keep up to demand
@@JoshsJettas ok. Seems that my car has only P1007. My car worked really bad, high vibration inside car, high consume, maybe because i put some bad diesel fuel in other country known with bad fuels. But now seems that my car is getting better, no more vibration and noises. Hope it was a transient issue due to the bad fuel. Also the dpf regeneration were too often, every 150 km.
I’d bet it just needs the one injector, it’ll have a poor spray pattern resulting in decreased efficiency, noise and excessive soot. You could try some concentrated injector cleaner but I haven’t had luck.
Hi Josh's I have a same problem like ur car, while I'm driving 2,3,4, and 5 gear same sound. Probably I need to replace injector or something else. No check engine light Car has 170,0000km, 2014 volkswagen passat tdi. Please let's me know
Hey yeah this one had no codes for 5-10k km before getting worse and eventually throwing the code for cylinder 4. Just medium load in that 2k rpm range it seemed
If it’s leaking down but should be getting smoke or possibly hydro lock, I’ve done a few crank/no start videos on cjaa’s that covers off a lot of possibilities

Yeah that sound pretty similar, they’re surprisingly affordable to its probably not a bad idea to do them all
Very helpful video, I've a Tdi with injector issues to fix tomorrow 👍
Hey Josh, super helpful video! I fired you an email as well - thanks so much for the walkthrough. Makes all of this a lot simpler!
Thanks for the video I'm about to take care of this myself this weekend
Great video. Helped me replace the injector seals into the rocker cover. Made my own version of the slide hammer with a long 15mm and an adjustable.
Awesome, they definitely don’t seem to get stuck in tight (like the older TDI’s) they just need a little persuasion
Get a "polar fis" to hook under the dash. Gives you much more data in your oem dash display. Best thing i ever did to mine.
I’ve seen them, they look very slick. Most of these Passat videos are of family/friends cars and wouldn’t care/use it to its full potential
Thank you , I would like to see how you did the diesel purge. I have the 3 hoses off my fuel filter housing

Hi mate, amazing video, just a quick one. What's the process of bleeding the injectors once everything is back in? Cheers!
Assuming you only removed the high pressure lines and injectors then just key on and crank. You could run the low pressure fuel pump with vcds/scan tool if you really wanted to
My 13 passat tdi has this same noise slight knocking noise, only when cold. Thought it was the DMF rattling, guess not!

To be quite honest it’s my sisters car, she’s just been driving it with the check engine light on. I haven’t scanned it since but it could be related.

Hey Josh, did you put anything on the o-rings before install? Motor oil or other lubricant
Touch of engine oil won’t hurt

@@JoshsJettas thanks for the reply. I looked at the torque difference and In cylinder 3 I had a value of two.

Won’t need it for dmf replacement, but it’s handy for dsg fluid change if your wanting to do it the proper way.

Hello, do I have a question? In what order do the injectors of that car go from 1 to 4 from right to left or from left to right. Thank you
Cylinder 1 is closest to the timing belt
If I only have to replace one injecor (I think it's #4 but I cant remember for sure.) Do I have to use VCDS to progerm the new one?
Yeah whether it’s 1 or 4 the calibration codes should still be entered. What will happen if you don’t? That I’m not sure.
Good job, man !!
I have P1007 . Many people said that this could be because of high pressure pump producing metallic dirt.

hello, what is the torque of the injectors? Volkswagen Passat tdi se 2014. Thanks
They're one time use bolts, 8nm + then 180 degree turn.
What’s the kit for the o rings and washers?
They're bought separate but WHT000884 for the body o-ring and 059130519 for the crush washer, just got them from IDparts
What $160 USD ,in rip off Ireland same injector is over €300 euro 😢
Yes l agree UK rip off price £350.00 My first and last VW
These solenoid injectors are cheaper, the cjaa which are piezoelectric cost more
Can injectors stop you from starting the car? cranks endlessly
