Where's the Best Place to Photograph the Golden Gate Bridge?

I the opportunity for some time in San Francisco to try to figure out where the best place to photography the golden gate bridge could be. I had only 3 different times that I could go out shooting, so obviously it's a bit limited. But, still, I think I did find the best Golden Gate Bridge views and even managed to sneak in a couple shots that are more unique than your typical Golden Gate Bridge photography.
So where is the best place to photography the Golden Gate Bridge? My personal favourite was MacKenzie Beach, it just gave such a great perspective of the bridge. The other two locations I went to: Battery Spencer and Presidio Park were also very good, but just didn't have that extra element the beach did.
Anyways, I had so much fun photographing the Golden Gate Bridge, it's a really amazing place, and I'd love to get back where there's some fog!
I live in San Francisco and what he’s calling “MacKenzie Beach” is actually “Marshall’s Beach.” I hope future photographers visiting San Francisco find their way around well.

Listened to your monologue about your passion about photography and the anxiety and frustration for pursuing your dream, only $200 left in the bank. It hits me with the line "you know you are in love when you don't want to sleep because the world when you are awake is better then your widest dream". looking back lets me realize how far you have gone from. Really happy that life turns around for you. And you totally deserve it !!

Brendan, Since I saw this, I've found great photo's of the GGB at sunrise from the ocean side. Thanks again for opening my eyes to find unique photo op's. And i've lived here all my life.
I like the monologue. I like to know what is going through people's minds while prepping for a shoot and actually shooting.

Thanks for this - am there this week so have been doing some research and thought Presidio was a definite possibility as well as Mackenzie Beach. Did you try around the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Centre? That looks promising for morning light on the bridge type shots (judging from the map anyway).

Great episode and enjoyed the monologue, it's good to hear how other photographers feel when thinks get tough, it makes me at least feel that when i get tired and exhausted i am not alone and it can be normal to feel at the brink of ones limit . But the important thing is that one must carry on.

How did you get to Bake Beach
Yes there is a trail down to the beach.
Hey, do you have the address for MacKenzie beach? I can't find it on google maps
Brandon Ho Search for Marshall Beach, it's the trail that goes down to there. Then, you need to hike along the beach towards the bridge to reach MacKenzie
I am aware with the lens you're using there is some distortion but on some of the shots towards the end id recommend making sure all of the shots has straight lines

Why the hell I cannot find the "MacKenzie beach" on google maps? The beach next to Baker Beach is called "Marshall's Beach" on google maps. And through the map, I cannot see a parking space there :(
Sorry, it's Marshall's beach. And there is a bit of parking just above it.
I checked the satellite map, do you mean parking along the street? Or there is a parking lot?

Being a novice photographer…..I would have never thought to go to the west( sunset side) for a sunrise shoot. The bay side gets the am sun.
+Craig Marston Normally I wouldn't either Craig, but I had limited time and wanted to be down here at sunrise when there was likely no people. But, you're right, usually I'd try to be on the sunny side. That said, you can definitely make it work this way too, especially if the light is on your side and not in front of you.
I love how you changed sides of the country in a flash - 2:35 Brooklyn Bridge......but you were out of breath, so lack of Oxygen can do that at any time.....

That first view of the Golden Gate Bridge is from Battery Spencer.
i was just there lsat week
and Battey spencer was blocked from the curve parking. i think you could still access it if you get dropped off from the side of the road and walk into it. many other view points were barricaded as well.

that beach is called Baker Beach!!
***** It's not. Baker beach is farther away from the bridge. MacKenzie Beach is around a couple rocky areas closest to the bridge.

Save you some time- he doesn't really go over any spots other than to recommend Marshall beach at sunset.
