Broke my left hip. 3 month recovery. Lost all my muscle mass. Just started to ride again. Will start bike packing in 1 month. Wife worried because I had a heart attack. Don’t have the same strength as before. Can’t ride when temp is above 80F. Heart doesn’t work at that temp so I ride now in spring and fall. But, I love the desert. Quiet, few cars, no bugs. So peaceful. Solo bicycling gives me so much time to figure out my life. I’m 83 years old and the more time on the bike is all I want. Your solo riding is so inspiring. You warm my heart with your adventures. Thank you for being you.

I watched a few of your videos and all I kept thinking was how brave you are. You must have a beautiful personality to meet and get along with so many strangers, I get too nervous and am mostly not trusting of people I don't know. I hope the trips have been as beautiful as you say because the memories will last a lifetime. I always wonder what it would be like to just take off bike packing even for a month but I am not as brave as you. Stay safe.

Maybe someone can help me here, I want to go bikepacking through France, but my biggest concern is always the camping. Can you just pitch your tent anywhere in France? How is it possible to camp by that church or near Mont-Saint-Michel?
Wild Camping is illegal in Most Europe an countries but in my opinion u should be fine when hiding well & of course respect nature & don’t leave any trace! I pitched the tent at saint Michel when it was already dark & woke up before sunrise, so Nobody saw the tent:)
You can wild camp almost anywhere. No real need to pitch late or leave super early, but obviously don't make a fuss. But anyway campsites are pretty cheap and frequent.

Not rude at all as showering is very important! I use public beach showers, rivers & lakes. And when there is no such thing I use water & my towel for a quick wash !

Wildcamping is illegal in most European countries. But as long as you find yourself a hidden campsot & leave no trace you should be fine.:)

I just find a path that leads away from the main roads & pitch my tent behind some bushes :)
