I’ll name some that I think will continue growing from the 80’s.
Hulk 340 (and McFarlane’s other Hulks from that time), Batman 423, New Teen Titans #2, Tales of the Teen Titans #44, Wolverine limited series (especially #1), Punisher mini series (especially #1, Wolverine #1 from the first long series, as well as many of the first 10 in the series), tons of Uncanny X-Men keys from the 80’s, Secret Wars, Tim Drake and Dick Grayson Batman keys (look them up), Punisher #1 from his first long series, As well as some of the final issues from that series that had lower print counts, War Journal has some keys could continue to grow. Daredevil, specifically Frank Miller’s run could keep climbing (Dark Knight Frank Miller as well). The Killing Joke. I wouldn’t discount the 80’s at all. Especially now that silver age and many Bronze Age books are getting so expensive. That’s part of the reason I have turned my attention to the 80’s.
I’ve also been going after everything McFarlane before he started Image. His Coyote books and yes, even his Infinity Inc stuff. I think McFarlane will be the modern day Jack Kirby and Jim Lee also had a major impact. Jim Lee - Samurai Santa, Alpha Flight 51. All 80’s.

Neal Adams' Batman/Detective are still undervalued. And I have them ALL. They are the pride of my collection. I am working on getting his Superman/Action books now. Long term, these are super solid investments.

I’ve replaced most of those but the Neal Adam’s Batman run has eluded me (I’m not nearly as avid a collector as I was). The thing I would caution folks about is that origin issues w/o 1st app’s or 2nd, 3rd, etc. app’s are not good “investments”. There’s no real demand at an investment level for any of those that aren’t gold or early silver age. And for the love of God do not “invest”’in almost any of those modern books that are re-dos of older characters.

Crazy that there is stability in that mess. Good show.

If it cannot be done then I only have to pay for the screening which is $18 and the shipping back to Ridgefield Connecticut. Well there was a comic book store that offered me $100,000 for my amazing fantasy 15 6.0 . But these three books I would find it hard for me to part with

This is great stuff as usual bro! Though mostly too rich for me, those are all awesome choices! I just past the 1.5 year mark in collecting, so the majority of my collection is moderns with some bronze sprinkled in. Got a question for you: oftentimes, I see crazy prices for 9.9 graded books-mostly moderns of course. I’m assuming that it’s the rarity of such a grade and how many there are on the census that’s driving up the value. What determines said value-auction sale, etc. Though not CGC, I have one of two CBCS 9.9’s of Batman 118 1:100 Silver Foil ASM 1 homage editions. I believe there are no CGC 9.9’s on the census! With only two in existence at the moment, I wonder what mine would go for. What are your thoughts on how I might go about trying to estimate this?

The ASM 300 I have was pristine last I checked. Deadpool 1 I think has 3 small spine ticks though and isn't going to be on the high end of the market. Many will disagree, but I’m not jumping on the Blade bandwagon. Yeah, he’s a cool character, but I have a bad feeling about his MCU premier. If they F his movie up, I think it will negatively impact his books just like Moon Knight. I wouldn’t put him up there with the other series that you mentioned. They are far stronger with a much larger following. I think it would take a rock solid movie to bump him up to that level and based on phase 4, I have serious, serious doubts.
I agree 100% on the Batman, Punisher, GhostRider, Wolverine, X-Men, Deadpool, etc because they have huge followings. Deadpool’s first movie was awesome and catapulted him to a whole different level.
Would like to know your opinion on more rock solid keys that people may be overlooking from the 80’s and 90’s. I mentioned some in a response to someone’s comments here, but I’d like to know your opinion as well.

Great list David.. It’s exactly what I would have voted for time and time again. But as the story goes to many speculators are gonna buy the same stupid books again this year and thinking it will be different the next time.. Like IT pssssst hey kid I got a strange tales 169 nice and minty 9.8 down here. 😆😆😆

I think you are dead right about choosing solid characters. Spiderman, Wolverine, Hulk, Venom, Magneto, Punisher, Deadpool, Thor, Galactus. Silver Surfer, Iron Man, FF, Batman, Superman, The Joker etc are all easily good investments. I think Hulk, Iron Man, DD & FF books are currently undervalued and maybe worth picking up at this point in time though. Still, i would trade all my books for any condition AF15

@@ComicBookInvestmentshello again sir, I realize that I ask you way too many questions about books but, you’re the only guy on RUclips I trust. Do you think since the Dazzler character is probably going to show up in Deadpool, do you think it would be wise to pick up a Dazzler #1 book?

thoughts about "investing" in low grade, unslabbed, non-key golden age and silver age issues

Depends on the character and titles. But can be good. Like SA spiderman non keys are great

Thanks, I have been adding over 100 issues in recent years, minor keys and many with major characters. Not really doing as investments but collect history. Don’t have budget to spend $5000+ on a book but can manage multiple $300 books over time of spending. Now if I had $100,000 would take your advice on those books

I don't agree with you on Amazing Spider-Man #129. I think collectors have soured on the Punisher, and this is evident in the big price drops this book has seen. I'd stay far away from it unless you're one of those few niche collectors who like this overrated character. Also, there are way too many copies of Amazing Spider-Man #300 to be agood investment unless you get a CGC 9.8.

Yes it’s quite a common book. I don’t imagine this thing will go sky high. But u can pick up a 9.8 for $60-$75. That too me is a good deal

can you give us your opinion on edge of spider-verse 2 9.8 as long term investment in one of your next vids?
    have a great day^^
Edit: just looked up your video on ultimate Fallout 4 from a year ago and I guess it's probably the same..
Those two just feel a bit different than most moderns because of the already massive fan base but still so damn risky...
