This isn't USB3.0 it just has a blue usb plug. There are no extra pins inside the plug that USB3.0 uses. That is why you didn't see any difference when switching ports.
Heyo! I had the same issue, but it's an easy fix! In the sources section, right click on the vivitar device and the properties, scroll to the very bottom and select "Custom audio device" and then choose your main output such as your speakers/headphones/what have you. Hope this helps, keep me posted! 😁
Heyo! Thanks a bunch! 😁 Yeah you can capture from a secondary pc if that's what you're asking? If you wanna capture your main pc, you can use a program like OBS, Streamlabs OBS, or Twitch Studio.
@@Nntndork I think more could it capture from what it’s usbed into I’m thinking you plug the hdmi into the device and then the pc. Or does plugging it in to the pc mean you can use it. I guess that makes sense. Basically I’m trying to just stream from my pc but take the strain off it
Ohhh okay Yeah you would need a 2nd computer then. On the main computer you would have this device plugged in and running OBS, then you would plug the other computer in to the device and play your game. I plan to do that when I can afford another computer haha 😅
Thanks for this, but i still have no audio. My video was being blocked by windows until i changed privacy settings, is there perhaps a privacy setting blocking the audio that i am missing?
I'm glad you got that resolved, and hopefully I can solve the audio issue as well! 😁 I had the same problem, and I found the fix for me was to right click the device in the sources tab, then go to properties, and at the bottom there should be a box that says "Use custom audio device". Check that box and select which audio output you want and hopefully that'll be your fix! 😁 Keep me posted!
hi i’m sorry i’m late. i just have a question.. i bought one of these so i can stream games (of course) but i just have a laptop. I have multiple extra HDMI cords around my house. Do I still need to buy an hdmi split if I want to see my game play on my monitor and laptop? btw this i have a ps5!
Hey there! Better late than never! 😁 If you'd like to see your ps5 on the tv AND your capture software, yes youd need a splitter. If youre okay with just seeing it on your capture software, you dont need a splitter! 😁
@@Nntndork Thank you SO MUCH FOR YOUR REPLY! I got everything set up beautifully, but when I have the USB - c plugged in, it stopped working for me :( versus when I have the USB plugged in it was working fine. Do you have any helpful tips for this?
Hmm. It might need to be configures differntly maybe? I dont have a USB C port on my computer to test it Dx My best guess is that you'd have to re-add it in the capture software, or perhaps there might be a setting in your capture software or computer?
Hi. So, I got a Vivitar Capture card for my early Birthday present. And a Laptop today. I don’t know where to plug in the Capture card into, do I put it in my Switch or Laptop?
@@Nntndork Does the Vivitar get very hot after only half an hour of use? Cause the capture card I had before would get very hot after using it for a long period of time.
Hey there! A few things people have told me that worked for them! • Right click on it in your sources, then properties and scroll to the bottom where it says "Buffering" and change it to "Auto Detect" if it isn't already. • Try a differnt USB port • Close some background apps and processes to free up memory • Try a different HDMI cord • Change your resolutions in your recording/streaming software to 1280 x 720 Hopefully one of those will help you! I also know that Streamlabs OBS (SLOBS) uses less memory than regular OBS, and it has an import feature to bring all your settings and stuff from OBS, so perhaps tbat would help too? Keep me posted! Hopefully one of these solutions will work for you! 😁
@@Joshua-molina I just ran the auto configure thing and ran with those settings. It should be like 1280x720, 30 frames per second or something like that. You might could try 1920x1080 and 30 frames a second, but if that doesn't work, I'd go back to 720 at 30 fps (:
I believe you are correct. One end of the hdmi cable should be in your xbox, then the other end into your vivitar. If you want to see your xbox on your tv as well, you would need an hdmi splitter 😁 In that instance, you would have one HDMI going from your xbox to the splitter, the one hdmi going to your TV, and lastly, a third HDMI going from the splitter to the vivitar
Sounds like you should change your output perhaps? :0 Id try bottom right corner where you can move slider, change the output to your headphones. If that doesnt work, then right click on the device on OBS -> Properties, them scroll to bottom and check the box that says "Custom audio device" and choose from there! (: Hopefully one of those work out for you!
hey! quick question, does this work for xbox? because i’ve been trying to use it with my xbox and it’s not working at all. i tried it with my switch and it worked really well and really fast. i really need a quick answer because i’m wondering if i should get a refund or not. thank you!
Hey there! It should work :0 It worked with my generation 1 xbox one, I can't get my hands on the new xbox to try it out Dx I know with Ps4 you have to disable some setting in the console itself, so perhaps there is a setting that you would have to change? What seems to be the problem when you try with your xbox?
i have the xbox one s btw when i plug the hdmi into the xbox and use the usb c that comes with it into my HP laptop in obs it just shows up with a rainbow screen when i try it with my nintendo switch it works like a charm :(
@jacksenegy I think I remember where to go on the xbox! Try going to settings, then to "Power and Startup" then make sure to change the setting "Power mode" from "Instant on" to "Energy-saving" and see if that helps (:
So if I want to capture my Xbox and send it my pc, but also actually play the Xbox on my tv still, can I just get an hdmi splitter and run one cord from my Xbox to the tv? And the other to the card?
Heyo! I had the same issue with my Nintendo Switch! It's been a minute since Ive fixed it, but I believe you right click the device and go to Properties, then at the bottom there should be a drop down bar for "Custom audio source" or something and you change that to the next available one and it should fix it (: I think I fixed that issue in my OBS tutorial video if you wanna look at that. ruclips.net/video/sgl2_RCnPLE/видео.html
So I’ve never set up a capture card in my life and actually wanted to use this to record footage from my Wii U, I’ve got the capture card going from the computer to a splitter into the game console but how do I also set this up where I can see the console on the TV still? I feel dumb not being able to figure this out but any help would be appreciated!
Heyo! So if Im understanding you correctly, you have the splitter set up wrong? You should have the single end plugged into the wiiu, and the on the double end, you should have one going to tv and one going to capture card. Do you have a capture software such as OBS? If so, I have a tutorial that could help, as I set up this capture card in OBS (: Technically you wouldnt have to have the splitter if you didnt want to, but in doing do, youd have everything on one singular screen. 😁 The tutorial can be found here if you're interested ruclips.net/video/sgl2_RCnPLE/видео.html

Hey bro! I wanted to screen extend my laptop to two different monitors but only have one hdmi port on laptop. I was going to use this as an adapter from one of my USB ports on laptop to one of the monitors. What do you think !?
Picked this thing up and it works great on stream but when viewing it through OBS while playing it’s laggy, jittery, and there’s a ton of input lag. My twitch view looks amazing though?! Any advice?

Hi! First, just want to say that I appreciate your video a lot. Even more, I appreciate how you've taken the time and care to respond to basically every single comment here. That's extremely nice of you. Definitely dropping a sub for that. I hoped that by digging through the comments I wouldn't have to add to the pile of questions you've recieved. Unfortunately I didn't find someone with the same question as me (sorry if I missed it). My question is regarding input lag. If I'm using a splitter with this capture device, will the feed going to the non-capture display be delayed/lagged? Is this something you've tried? For context, I stream with my wife and we want to stream Palworld while allowing viewers to see my screen as well as her's. So it's PC we're capturing. I'm hoping that the non-capture view will be 1:1. Not too worried about the capture feed being delayed so long as my wife can play without input lag. Thank you for your time and effort!
Hey there, thanks for the comment! 😁 I personally haven't tried using it with a splitter, but I don't think their would be input lag? If so I don't imagine it'd be a whole lot? :0 If I had a splitter of my own, I would for sure try it out to give you a for sure answer, sorry about that Dx
Hi there! 😁 I got you covered with my OBS tutorial perhaps? ruclips.net/video/sgl2_RCnPLE/видео.html But before you watch that, what audio issue(s) are you having? :0 A lot of peeps here (Myself included 😅) were having trouble getting the audio to come through. I have a pretty easy fix for that if youre having the same issue? (:
If that happens to be your issue, right click the device in your sources, then properties, and at the bottom of properties, you should see "Use custom audio Device" I believe? If you change that to your main output device, that should hopefully fix your problem! 😁
You should be able to make it full screen! 😁 In obs or Streamlabs OBS, right click on the device under source and then find "Transform", and select "Fit to screen" If you wanna exit full screen, you can just click the Esc key (:
Heyo! I have a tutorial for that here! (: I'm using OBS, but the same tutorial applies for Stream Labs as well! ruclips.net/video/sgl2_RCnPLE/видео.html
I bought one thinking it would be usable with my quest 3 hdmi link connection... Nope. And no one at Walmart even knew what a capture card for quest was! So I'm taking it back .. I'll go to Best buy and get exactly what I need 🙃
As far as audio goes, you should be able to right click on it, go to properties and scroll down, you should see a box that says something like "Select custom audio source", check it and select the capture card. And as far as the webcam goes, in your sources, make sure you arrange them so the webcam is above the capture card and hopefully that's your issue. I had that same problem when I first started x3 If you want, I cover both of those issues in my "OBS for beginners tutorial" here if you wanna check it out ruclips.net/video/sgl2_RCnPLE/видео.html
No biggy! I try to be as responsive as possible 😂 Also just a forewarning, a lot of people (Myself included) had trouble with the audio not coming through, but the fix is simple. If not, you can refer here to set up OBS: ruclips.net/video/sgl2_RCnPLE/видео.html If you already have OBS set up, it really depends on your streaming setup. You should be able to fix that within your streaming software. If you use OBS or StreamlabsOBS, you can do that by going to audio mixer and finding "Advanced audio properties" and then by the capture card, you should see something along the lines of audio "sync offset" just mess around with that until it seems right for you (:
Honestly, if you can get an Elgato, I say go for it! Depending on which one you wanna get, you can capture 4k and stuff and I feel like the experience would be smoother. This one totally works and gets by and I only had one issue was with the audio, but it was an easy fix. I will also letchya know, no matter which one you get, you'll have to change a setting on your PS5 to get the picture to work. I think it's HCEC or HVEC setting? I'm looking at SLOBS now, and without knowing what exactly all you've done, I'd say perhaps click on the cog wheel on the device under sources, open up Advanced audio settings, then change the "Device" type to your main speakers or mess around until you get one working? You could also change the Audio Monitoring to "Monitor only (Mute output)", or perhaps even as "Monitor and Output", but I'm kinda thinking it's the first option of changing your Device to whatever your main speakers are (: Hopefully that helps, but keep me posted! 😁

• Try a differnt USB port
• Close some background apps and processes to free up memory
• Try a different HDMI cord
• Change your resolutions in your recording/streaming software to 1280 x 720

my question is do i plug the vivitar with my hdmi cable into my pc, then that hdmi cable connected into my pc into my tv xbox?
I believe you are correct.
One end of the hdmi cable should be in your xbox, then the other end into your vivitar.
If you want to see your xbox on your tv as well, you would need an hdmi splitter 😁
In that instance, you would have one HDMI going from your xbox to the splitter, the one hdmi going to your TV, and lastly, a third HDMI going from the splitter to the vivitar
Will it work on PS5 and XBox Series?
As long as you can output via a HDMI cord, then yes! 😁
Will this adapter work if I plugged it into the USB port in the back of my PS5? Then connect my HDMI cord to the tv?
I don't believe so.
It's mainly used to capture whatever is plugged into it for youtube or streaming
So whenever I plug in my headphones the audio goes away on the pc, takes it out its fine. So idk.
Sounds like you should change your output perhaps? :0
Id try bottom right corner where you can move slider, change the output to your headphones.

Happy gaming, friend! ✌️😄
Does it work on Nintendo switch lite?
No, unfortunately Dx
Just silly Switch Lite things
I need a capture card for ps5 is this worth my buying or should I just get the elgato?
Honestly, if you can get an Elgato, I say go for it!
Depending on which one you wanna get, you can capture 4k and stuff and I feel like the experience would be smoother.
This one totally works and gets by and I only had one issue was with the audio, but it was an easy fix.
I will also letchya know, no matter which one you get, you'll have to change a setting on your PS5 to get the picture to work.
I think it's HCEC or HVEC setting?
It's basically the setting that allows your tv to control your PS5 and vice versa!
Hopefully this helps you choose! (:
Happy gaming, friend!
@@Nntndork thanks I order the elgato s+

Thank you for the explanation I'm trying to do streaming on my switch with that same capture card. Can you please explain to me how to do that. Step by step 😅
Hey there!
I got you! 😁

My audio isn't working in streamlabs obs, tried everything, any advice? ://
Hey there!
It's been a while since I've used SLOBS, but I know in OBS, you can right click on the device, go to properties, and then at the bottom, you can select "Custom output device" and select your main speakers.
I'm looking at SLOBS now, and without knowing what exactly all you've done, I'd say perhaps click on the cog wheel on the device under sources, open up Advanced audio settings, then change the "Device" type to your main speakers or mess around until you get one working?
You could also change the Audio Monitoring to "Monitor only (Mute output)", or perhaps even as "Monitor and Output", but I'm kinda thinking it's the first option of changing your Device to whatever your main speakers are (:
Hopefully that helps, but keep me posted! 😁
@@Nntndork actually found it in OBS switched to speakers and put audio on monitor and out put but still, nothing
@@lillolitaaa Hmm. It could be something having to do with a sound driver or maybe even having to do with your output in your PC?
I know I've made the mistake of not changing my output to my main speakers when Im gaming and it wont come through.
I remember I had to change a sound setting in SLOBS when I used it, I think I had to turn all of the audio sources off in the settings and then manually add them as output sources?
Oh!
Under Advanced Audio settings, go to Global settings and change Audio Monitoring device as whatever your main speakers are?
@@Nntndork I figured it out, it was my laptop, had to mess around with some settings but now I'm having audio delay issues so there's that, I've switched to OBS instead of SLOBS though
I keep getting lil rainbow screen of death. Both my camera and laptop recognize that something is plugged in but there’s still something not communicating between the 2.
I’m using a Samsung NX mini full HD/1080p and a 2019 Lenovo laptop
Hmm.
I'd try a different USB port?
What software are you using to capture, OBS?
@@Nntndork yep I’m using OBS and I’ve tried the other port, I’m thinking it may be the camera or the cord
It could possibly be the device itself. A few folks here have had bad luck with it out of the box.
You could try having evetything plugged in, and in OBS, deactivate and reactivate the source?
That usually works for me with my Elgato
@@Nntndork It could be I’m going to test my switch and see if it works with that.
Okay, keep me posted!
Hopefully that'll fix it! 😁
is there a way to fix screen tearing??
Hey there!
A few things people have told me that worked for them!
• Right click on it in your sources, then properties and scroll to the bottom where it says "Buffering" and change it to "Auto Detect" if it isn't already.
• Try a differnt USB port
• Close some background apps and processes to free up memory
• Try a different HDMI cord
• Change your resolutions in your recording/streaming software to 1280 x 720
Hopefully one of those will help you!
I also know that Streamlabs OBS (SLOBS) uses less memory than regular OBS, and it has an import feature to bring all your settings and stuff from OBS, so perhaps tbat would help too?
Keep me posted!
Hopefully one of these solutions will work for you! 😁
I bought one, lol per your video
You look familiar from twitch do you stream there ?
Yooo glad I could help! 😁
And I used to stream on Twitch! I stream here now haha
Yoo please tell me this is compatible with Android( no pc just Nintendo switch and android) Everywhere I look I can't get the answer
Yes!
As long as you have a USB C to HDMI adapter it'll work 😁
I’m having problems with having my party chat being heard.
Is this possible to use without OBS? I've been trying to figure out how to use it with my PS4 because I don't have a computer and can't figure out how to use this.
Ohhh.
I believe you'd need to have capture software.
Can you elaborate?
How are you trying to ise it with your ps4/why are you trying to use it with your ps4?
@@Nntndork I wanted to record my gameplay for RUclips purposes. I just bought this today and I thought it would be a plug and play, but I can't figure out how to actually hook up this to my PS4 or TV. The capture card does hook into the PS4's HDMI cable but does not fit into the TV so I'm not sure how to use this without OBS.
Ahhh okay I gotchu!
Yeah in your case, you would need to have OBS or other capture software.
Elgato does have a plug and play caoture card. The Elgato 4K60 S+, but that's $400+ US Dollars.
I'm not too sure of any other brands off the top of my head that offer something similar Dx
It’s not 1080p 60 bro it’s 1080p 30
Ohhh okay
Yeah I bought it
Oh good!
Hopefully it all works out for you! 😁
So what if I have the Xbox series S?
Oh yeah it should work just fine 😁
@@Nntndork but I would need to have an hdmi splitter wouldn’t I? I just bought and of these and couldn’t figure out how to properly set it up
Only if you wanna have the video output to your tv as well. Otherwise you can just have it full screen in your streaming/recording software. 🙂
@@Nntndork oh okay do I connect it to my Xbox itself or the PC? Sorry for all the questions 😭
Hey it's no biggy! 😁
So yeah it should be one HDMI coming out of the xbox and into the "Input" of the spliiter. The two other HDMI cords coming from "Output" go to the capture card plugged into your PC and the tv respectively 😁
I have a OBS tutorial video if you need it? It's a bit dated but still works, and I also didn't use a splitter for mine haha
How dose the audio work
Heyo!
I had that issue also!
Right click the device in your sources, then properties, scroll to the bottom and choose "Custom audio device", then select your main output device!
Hope that helps, keep me posted 😁
@@Nntndork does it capture in game voice chat?
It should! 😁
If it doesn't by default, it will more than likely be a setting in your console.
I know Xbox has a specific setting for it, Im not sure if Playstation does
OK dumb question. So I'm trying to use this on my PS5. The PS5 only has 1 HDMI port so if I use that for the capture card, how am I going to see my gameplay on my big screen TV? Again, dumb question but it's confusing me lol
No dumb questions here! 😁
You would need a HDMI splitter for this particular one if you wanted to play that way.
Idk man... I'm experiencing a fair amount of input delay. Enough to make it difficult to play. Is there something I can do to fix this?
Hmmmm
What software do you use to record? :0
Maybe try a different USB port?
@@Nntndork I was using obs. And it's in a USB 3.0 slot. Idk, might just need to get an hdmi splitter to another monitor

What about anything older than a switch. Say my ps2 or my ps4
Ps4 will work for sure! Though you might have to change a setting in the ps4 to get it to work.
For PS2, you'd need an AV to HD converter.
I picked one up at my local walmart for $30
This doesn’t work with my GoPro HERO7, all that I get are colour bars
UPDATE: I fixed it! Had to switch off the GoPro, plug it in, and then power it back on.

You may have to get a special adapter for it?
I got the colors as well with my initial testing, but to fix it I just unplugged and replugged my device in and that was the fix.

You should be able to, I was able to get it working with a PS4!
Anyone know why it won't pickup my camera? Nothing on the site says why. Is there other software I can use for this?
Hey there!
My best guess is that there is a setting in your camera you might need to change.
I had to do that with my PS4 to get it to work.
It could also be a faulty HDMI cable, or perhaps even try a different USB port?
What kind of camera do you have?
Perhaps I can help research with you 😁
Other software to try are Streamlabs OBS, Xsplit, Muxy, Elgato capture software, and Twitch Studio
@@Nntndork damn I'd be happy to have any help bro. I figured out part of it. I got the screen to work by hitting the play button on the camera. Apparently that's a play to screen button. I know I'm a fuck tard. But when I do get it it gives me this weird ass screen. I see the camera but it's only one quarter of the screen. I can't seem to get rid of the camera input levels. Which takes up most of the screen of course. I can't find anywhere in the manual or on the display of the camera to eliminate this.
It's a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ300. It's not great but It does 4k. Thing is it only takes 128gb cards so you can't get much video out of it without recording straight to laptop.
I would greatly appreciate any help
@@Nntndork sorry do the other software still accept the vivitar camera? I actually have a vivitar action camera as well. I'm wondering if I'd just be better off using that.... But I spent so much on the Lumix 😥
All of those softwares should support it, yes. 😁
Also, I found some info that might help with the camera, someone said, "Toggle it away and choose other views with the Disp button. See page 37 of the advanced features manual."
I believe there should be some setting, or a button perhaps that will allow you to turn some of that on screen stuff off.
when i plug it in i get rainbow bars on obs
Oh I get that too from time to time, even with my Elgato.
The two fixes I've found (and the order I do them in) is to turn your system on and get the rainbows, highlight the device and Deactivate it and then reactivate it.
Or try turning your console off and back on.
With my Nintendo Switch, I can usually just take it out of the dock and put it back in while the console is on and plugged in.
If those don't work, I'd try a differrnt USB port or unplug the device while your console is connected and then plug it back in!
Lemme know if any of those fix it! 😁👌
