so you do need the splitter to actually get the video onto the pc?
@@97paladin the splitter is for when you want to see just the gameplay on your monitor/TV for one output and the other for streaming or other video recording purposes. It's better to use and hdmi splitter to reduce lag or frame skips.

Not on a PS4 party but on discord. Just change both your Discord and OBS settings to use the same headset. That way you can hear your friends talking, and have your stream audience hear you talking.

Yah you should be able to see your gameplay in real time through your monitor, as long you connect the cables the right way

you can but i did have some problems with using certain dongles such as it wasn't showing any signal so just be aware
Very clear tutorial!! :) However, I'm having a problem. The audio wave starts moving like crazy, so it starts getting sound. When I change the settings so I can hear the sound, it's just a constant cracking sound which destroys my ears

30 fps thats the highest i can push out
If you change the quality from 1080p to 720p, it can output 60fps. So its just a matter of Performance or Quality

i followed your video to a T minus one factor...i bought a different hdmi splitter i could send it from the ps4 to the tv, but once i plugged it into the pc the tv lost signal. I have assumed the splitter is the issue and just ordered the splitter you linked. it wont be here for 2 weeks unfortunately but hopefully since it worked for you with the same equipment, it will work for me. The only question i would ask you is if hdmi cord quality matters, if the cord works straight from the ps4 to tv should it be compatible with the splitter. looking forward to hearing your input on this, thank you.
Yeah a common mistake that other people be making is buying a HDMI Switcher instead of a splitter

NAME IS CJ Nop i never did, but actually my solution was to record the gameplay without sound and also record it from the playstation with (share) and in the editing i just out the sound in the gameplay with good graphics! Its more work but it does the job perfectly
Dont plug your headset to the controller.. Plug it in your laptop instead

I know this is pretty old but im curious, so i also play on the PS4 and have a tv to be able to view my gameplay. However once i hooked up the capture card to my laptop i am able to display everything on obs, but my laptop screen is smaller than my tv screen (which makes it difficult to see what im doing especially when im fighting) and unfortunately the tv goes black due to the output video being directed to my laptop. Is there a way to be able to display the gameplay on my tv screen rather than my laptop, while im recording on obs or would i just have to get a cpu for my tv in order to view my gameplay?

NO, but if you want to play games on your tv or monitor in real time i highly recommended to get it, because playing games through OBS has a little latency

you could use it without the splitter but you will have latency, with the audio just do not connect any headset to the controller

You don't need the splitter but remember when you playing through OBS it will be a delay while playing the game

yes you can play through the laptop but there will be a slight delay, since your laptop doesn't have an hdmi port, you will need a adapter piece for it. LINKS

Buyer beware! its not usb3, its only usb2, it has trouble with video jitter, special when a scene pan across the screen , most frustrating to watch! image quality apart from the image jitter is great.
i tried changing a lot of different settings and it mostly made it worse. might be ok for game capture or basic video stuff, but terrible if you want to put your dvd or blu rays to hard drive using this capture device, better to use screen capture or "make mkv" software
Yea I agree I bought this for PS4 gameplay and whenever the screen pans the footage lags or get chopped it's straight up unusable for PS4 gameplay
