Not gonna lie you and your overall presentation of the device had me focused the entire time
Thanks fam!
@@OmarEltakrori no you did great idk what this guy is talking about
I wasn't sure if you could also receive audio from this. Love the channel guys. Thanks for the great information and presentation Think Media team and Omar.
The greatest thing about these cards is that you can create your own multi-angle stream on the cheap. I've done streams with two cheap cards and one Elgato 4K, it works really well. The Elgato has less audio lag and is cleaner in the shadows and colors, but the cheap card is great for starting and experimenting. (Your available light matters more than the quality of the cards.)
You mean the video is delayed. As I am using a dslr mic and not intending to create a delay for it.
Great presentation! I was considering this and you've given me exactly the info I need to make a decision based on my own equipment and needs. Thanks!
Dirty HDMi 😂 I don’t know what kind of video feed you streaming over it 😂
Question of the Day ⚡ What do you think about the quality of this capture card? Let us know! * 📌Check out the Best Cheap HDMI Capture Card HERE ➡️ amzn.to/3p0YI82
It’s no longer 20 dollars, it’s 52. Will the 20 dollar one be available again?
Will try after Xmas (to be formal 😉) and get back! If you have an iPhone, especially 11 or 12, you can use Filmic Pro to use your phone as a camera and have classic camera settings as well as a clean HDMI out! I this this app also works well with certain gimbles
@@KRAZYRODZILLA It is at 23 dollars now. It is the nature of amazon to fluctuate in price.
@@MatthewStratton thank you!!!!
Video looks good on the one I have, but it didn’t detect the microphone on either Windows or Mac, even though it has the option in Zoom for USB Digital Audio…I’m using a Canon 80D with a Deity V-Mic D3
Cautionary note: been using my canon m50 as a webcam and a dummy battery with ac power supply. Remember to turn everything off when not in use as I think I’ve burned out the sensor and my camera freezes with a green display!
Sorry to hear that! Turn everything off as in the off switch when not streaming?
Thanks for the tips. Definitely have to upgrade the gears for my channel. Always appreciate the good contents.
Thanks for all the tips and reccomend from this channel
Thank you so much this is the best channel!
These capture cards are an excellent value. I've got two that I've been using since summertime and have been pushing all of my conference calls and livestreams with them for the past six months! In this video, the elgato has a nice, neutral look but it's not enough to compel me to spend the money. In addition, if you were looking to get two elgatos, at that price, you might as well spend a little bit more for the Blackmagic ATEM Mini.
Thanks so much. Just the video I needed.
Great review and right on time too! I was looking to purchase the Camlink soon, but will check this alternative one out!
Thanks for the video! I was actually thinking about this the other day 👍🏽👍🏽
The exact video I was looking for!
Thanks!
Good stuff Omar! I love it! Thank You! 🙏🏾
I wound up going with the camlink 4K only because I didn’t want any issues with the live stream. For the extra money it’s worth the piece of mind.
I used the cheap card shown here on the drum video I posted last week. Attached my old gopro to achieve a wide angle webcam...so far so good!
Has anyone noticed any kind of delay with the $20 capture card? I have MASSIVE latency with the $20. I don't know if it's my camera though.
Thank you for answering a question I have been wondering
I have an old Canon 1100D that my sister out-law gave to me, it was not used for quite sometime and now I intend to use it as a webcam (aside from practicing photography again),... this may be a good widget to maximize the camera for live streaming and zoom meetings.
Thank you for your video. Is it possible to use two or more of these devices at the same time (in windows10)? The EOS webcam utility doesn't allow this, I think.
The price already went up to $26 + $10 shipping. This video is getting people interested. Good work brother!
I own a few capture cards, the Elgato by far produces a better image and color. What I noticed with this card thats mentioned and with the other cheapo ones I’ve purchased is the colors are extremely washed out. Now that I need an camera for my streams I’ll be moving to the Black Magic ATEM mini pro for better control and output as well as color correcting on the fly while streaming.
i dont know what kind of washed out it is, but i think it could be fixed by putting some saturation / contrast / etc filters on the capture card footage, not sure though
Great review and vid. Purchased through the affiliate link. Thanks 🙌🏼
Thanks for this! Just got a “no name” one for steaming jazz music and was wondering exactly what the differences were. Funny how it says 4K at 30fps on Amazon, but the box says only up to 1080p. Not that it matters unless you have a fast enough connection, but I loved the screen comparison at the end 🙏🏽🙏🏽
basically, they accept a 4K input then downscale it to 1080p
@@icanlevitateoff not surprised, but still happy overall with functionality and price
Great to know!
You guys are the best!
Your video is so clean bro
would be interesting to see how much Zoom messes up quality from both (compression) and what's the end result is
@thinkmediaTV Omar, great stuff! Question, if I am videoing with a couple of iphones (14 & 11), do I need a camlink to plug them into the elgato stream deck? Or just the lighting to hdmi cable? Or is that even possible? Thanks!
ooooh thanks for this! I was about to buy the more expensive capture card!
What is the oldest canon camera one can use as a webcam? I have a 400D lying around here somewhere.
If everything was set-up the same way for both demonstrations, there was a significant difference in the audio between the two as far as things being synced up.
Hi. Thanks for this great video. I have a 4k splitter but but my Sony tv says "out of range". How do I fix this so that I can livestream?
just picked up a foscomax capture card from amazon with the intention of gaming, but now i realized i can use it for my sony a7iii too
Great video; yours was so much better than others in that you actually noted WHY one is needed. Many of the others just started telling me how to set one up. Anyway, thanks!
Really helpful video 😊👍🏻🎬
I used to upload fairly often. But my capture device took a dump a while ago. Was looking into getting a usb capture device but, I have a question.
Since Windows 10 released there’s no dvd drive support anymore. Is there a way to remove the physical drive and use that space plus the drives inputs to add hdmi in with a built in capture device in one package?
You know like the old expansion slots. (Wifi and LAN)
Super new to the livestreaming game but really want to try for FB/RUclips using streamyard with the Zony ZV1, I am getting conflicting data that says the ZV1 doesnt need a capture card, vs it does need one, lol so which is it? Also, does there need to be an SD card in the camera while live streaming? Really not sure how the logic of livestreaming works haha
I'd love to know how well this little adapter holds up with some higher frame rate uses. Gaming etc? Also, does it actually do a fairly good job at staying in sync or is there any kind of delay on it that you need to compensate for?
Nice ima have to pick up one of those capture cards
What’s the best webcam lens for the canon M50
Can someone please help! 😬 I picked up another cheap capture card and when I hook it up to my go pro and try zoom there’s a super long delay, about a full second or so of the video. Can this be the card or the GoPro, or what’s going on?
(Also, same problem in other applications)
Thank you so much
Great video Omar! Can You use two or more cheap usb capture cards at the same time to mimic multicam in OBS as example?
That should work. It would be the same as having any other usb cameras in the mix.
What camera are you using to record your off screen videos?
Help Please!
I bought the card you present in the video to use for Zoom calls and it connects to my Canon M50 no problem and displays a nice image on my computer, but after 30 seconds or so, the feed cuts out completely. Any idea why or how to stop that happening? I've tried putting the camera in manual focus and turning the display settings to manual but it didn't help.
Great video, very detailed and easy to understand. Thank you!
I was checking something out a few days ago and was thinking to myself "what was i doing again?" when i came across your video! thank you!
Thank you
Cannon web link application supports webcam through MICRO USB to USB.
If you are not aware of it then note it in description so that some people can check if their DSLR supports
I’ve been looking for how to live stream. This is awesome. I’ll be using this for my Sony a6400
This is perfect for the 6400
You can use the Sony Imaging Edge software without needing a capture card. I use it with my 6400 every day. Works great.
@@zmo190 yes.
@@beardsandbanjos by any chance do you know what can be used for canon g7x mark II ?
@@ChamelaMartinez no sorry. I haven’t researched canons as much.
You get better HDR with El Gato Camlink and, as you said, it is future proof with that 4k capability
Will this also work with a Sony a6400 and Ipad Pro?
Great video I will try with my Canon 200D
Omar, remember that the M50 Mark ii has clean HDMI.
And so does the Canon M6 Mk II.
What does "clean" mean?
@@TT-rz5td it means that on the computer, it won't show all that information that is on the camera and it will just show the video, which is what you want.
Great info
I have a Sony A6300 and can use it as a webcam via the USB cable provided by just installing the free software from the Sony website (after which my camera is recognised as a webcam by Zoom and other conference call software). Why would I need to buy another piece of hardware to convert HDMI to USB? What am I missing?
I got one for $3 and it's work ok to start out..would I rely on it if I were stream as a side hustle, probably not
it works but for some reason i cant disable the small white box from my canon t3i. If anyone has any info on how to disable that feature i will appreciate it a lot.
The only thing that I have personally found not so great with the cheaper option is that after some time the
capture card begins to produce a ton of screen tear and outputs around 15 fps instead of 30. I have had it for around 6 months and only now is it beginning to get to this point, but it is worth considering that with the cheaper card you will probably have more issues and glitches 👍
The computer you use play a big part as well. I used the same device on 2 different computers. On my laptop the fps was capped at 30fps. On my gaming rig I'm able to record in 4k 60fps stable. It all depends on the computer. Yes OBS is capable of recording in 4k. You have to manually type in 3840x2160, 4k is not in OBS options but if you type in 4k resolution it works. My capture card was only $18. 4k 60fps is good for $18.
Mine stopped transferring audio.
I picked up that same cheap one a few months ago. Never had a single issue with it. I wouldnt recommend plugging a game console into it for like twitch. You will notice it skips frames. But for cameras, it works perfect.
I was thinking would it be good for gaming
Does this work for game play and on tv and such?
I have a windows 10 laptop and a M1 Macbook Air, however I prefer windows to MacOS; I was hoping to use my macbook as a secondary display to my windows laptop (which doesn't have usbC output, but the usual HDMI output). If I plug in my windows Laptop's HDMI to the HDMI input of this card, and output in to the macbook, is this possible?
Any reason you aren't using the EOS webcam utility?
I’m a student. Can you use a capture card to record a teacher’s class lecture on zoom? Like screen record?
If Im not mistaken, when using Cano DSLR cameras, you actually dont need a capture card. If you have a mosel that is supported, the have Free software that allows you connect directly to your PC
What is a mosel?
@@UpStreamCharlie that's a typo. They meant "model".
www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/video/tips-and-solutions/how-to-use-your-canon-camera-as-a-webcam
I believe so, its true for my Canon 250D
I have one EOS77D and it doesn't do higher than 720p, in fact I believe it's slightly below (1024x576 when I look up on OBS). Either USB limitations or Canon's not so great drivers.
Canon does have the EOS Webcam Utility, but I have not been successful in getting it to work with my Mac and m50.
Anyone else experience audio to video lag? How would I fix this issue, tried everything
I don’t own a working laptop right now. So using my IPad Pro can I use the capture card together?
Can this work with my cannon G7X Mark ii?
Super clutch info and great comparison, this made my decision a whole lot easier.
One thing I did notice compared to my other capture card is this weird saturation on the image in OBS. I haven’t changed any settings in OBS, or the camera, or my lights even, and it super saturated the image.
I'm using Canon M50, question, when using this capture card, what about the 30 minutes timeframe of canon's?
You mentioned audio can be obtained from the Canon M50 via the CAM Link card via the HDMI cable. When I first tested this last year, the Canon M50 did not send any audio through the HDMI port on the camera. I just upgraded the firmware on the M50 to v1.1.0 so I decided to retest it. It still does not provide audio via the HDMI connection. The Canon EOS Webcam utility (which allows you to use autofocus and the connection is a USB connection) provides a lower quality video image and it also does not provide audio. I've always used a secondary audio source and it's necessary to adjust for the audio delay/sync in streaming app (OBS on Windows 10 in my case).
I'm having difficulty setting up m59 mark 2 on Ringtone windows 10.
When I connect the HDMI cable it doesn't connect to my PC.
Do I need to buy a capture card?
@@jamallogic7496 The HDMI ports on most computers are output HDMI ports, not input/capture ports. You would need a HDMI capture card to connect the HDMI output of the camera to a USB port on your computer.
@@RetroCarGuy530 that makes sense. Thanks
I need major help. So I have the same $20 capture card and I'm trying to get a connection between my acer chromebook and game consoles. I don't see anything triggering it. Am I doing something wrong?
The main difference between the Elgato and the cheap one was framerate- the cheap one jumped about massively (probably 30fps) and the Elgato was much smoother (probably 60fps). That said, there was surprisingly little difference between your webcam and the cheap one. I see a MUCH bigger difference between a MacBook webcam and a Canon 250D using Canon's free webcam software
Yea, I was wondering what the catch would be considering that USB 2.0 doesn't have enough bandwidth to fully handle 1080p@30
Great video 👍
Does this setup allow the M50 to be a webcam longer than 30 minutes?
Anyone know why my Sony A6400 footage is squeezed when i plug it into zoom?
I got mine yesterday, still trying to figure out how to set it up for live stream on RUclips
Omar, thanks for the video. My big problem is that I do not have a camera with a clean HDMI. Could you give me a tip for the cheapest camera with clean HDMI output, please?
The M50 Mark ii has clean HDMI and runs about $699 with kit lens.
I can't hget audio to pass through using the cheap acpture card and Canmin 80D. Any insight from anyone?
Does the generic capture cards work with Mac m1 silicon?
can this be connected to an iphone to use it as a webcam?
Excellent deal.
The cheap ones are only mono 1 channel sound. It will perform well for basic use and gaming but lacks sound quality. I'm going to be upgrading to elgato.
I also have the M50, how can you use it for more than 30 min? and also how can you charge it while using it?
My classes are 3hrs long and the M50 doesn't look like a good solution... any recommendation? tnx :)
Mine it doesnt work, when I plug in the camera goes black and in OBS only appear the color bar what can I do?
@thinkmedia, hasn't Canon released an EOS webcam utility? Is there a benefit in using the capture card over the EOS utility?
The Eos camera utility loses color and frame rate. I have the 20$ hdmi and it works fine
@@43DW And the recording limit of canon?
This was helpful but I’d like to know what the point of the Canon Webcam Utility is? I recently downloaded it and am more confused than ever as to what it’s purpose is.
If you have the right type of camera, which can send video over its USB port, you can use it as an amazing-quality webcam, better than webcams costing hundreds of pounds. Looks amazing with my 250D and a 50mm prime lens.
I did a video on this capture card with “the Wong reviewer “ 3 months ago.

Is it good for recording games like Minecraft?
Can you use iPhone camera for this?
Is using a capture card better than using the Sony Imaging Edge software?
It was way better for me, I have the el gato one. The edge software always has slight delay for me, almost like a lag effect
