    It's tough choice for hybrid shooters. It makes them want to have at least two of those three cameras. One X-T5 and the other either an X-H2 or X-H2s.

    I absolutely loved the XT3 but I much prefer my new XH2, it feels much better in the hand and the new 40mp sensor with 7 stop ibis is awesome.
    There has been some minor bugs in the XH2 firmware, but I am sure Fuji will iron these out as time goes on.
    I use my cameras primarily for shooting images and very occasionally I might shoot a short video.
    The 160mp pixel shift is great, but not something you will use often as the file sizes are around 880mb in RAW format or 280mb in jpeg, but it’s something you have to try at least once.
    Hopefully Fuji will incorporate the processing of these images in camera soon without the need of using a separate computer later.
    Overall I don’t think you can go wrong with Fuji cameras and lenses, whatever you get it will be fantastic

      Hi Ian, thanks for watching - this is a pretty accurate summary! You'd probably also love the X-T5, particularly if you liked the X-T3... but like you, I prefer the feel and style of the X-H2 overall. Both give great images though, I think they will prove to be very popular models for Fujifilm. I'm certainly a convert - just don't tell Sony!

    Thanks for this video. I love Fuji and currently own an X-Pro2 (Pre-ordered when it was first announced) and X-T2, X-T3 and X-T4. I never fancied the X-Pro3 or any of the XH series. When the X-T5 was announced I was initially looking forward to it but then decided against it because I really like having battery grips on all my cameras (except the X-Pro2 of course) and the X-T5 can't have one. However, after a visit to the Societies of Photographers Show in London last month, and trying the X-T5 with the new 56mm f1.2 R WR lens, I found I loved them. Watching your video also helped by being so informative and I have now bought both the X-T5 and the 56mm lens. Many thanks for posting..

    I was able to compare the X-T5 against my X-T3 today at Fuji’s main store in London. Size wise there’s very little between them which is great, amazing to think that they managed to fit an IBIS in the body. I found the rear screen very sharp and clear when compared to my X-T3, the OLED screen really makes a difference. I did have a play with the X-H2 and 2S, but I prefer the feel and style of the Traditional range of cameras. I will probably look to upgrade but will wait until Fuji runs one of their cash back offers.

    thank you very much for this short comparative test. I'm about to trade in my X-Pro2 for an X-H2, but now I'm not sure whether it should be an X-T5. In particular, the buttons on top of the X-T5 seem easier to operate than the pre-programmed settings of the X-H2. And I really only take pictures; architectural photography, landscape photography and birds. Remains a difficult choice, but I am already so used to Fujifilm that I am selling my Canon 5Dmk3 with all its accessories. Anyway, the X-T5 is not available for the time being, but do think that it will be my next camera

    Thanks for the review of this superb little camera. I had XT1, then XT2 and thought it a superb mountaineer's camera but then I disappeared down the GFX 50 rabbit hole at at 50. This is now tempting e to give up the big Fuji and go light again. The one lament I have is that we can't have it all in the xT5. We are still left with the last half decade's EVF not the much better unit in the XH2, the Hasselblad X2D and in the original GFX 100. Your review is quite correct to highlight this. The GFX 100 is likewise retrograde in also having the same 3.6m dot EVF. These cameras are phenomenal tools for handheld shooting and the calibre of EVF is critical to that mode of shooting. The gain from 3.6 to 5.6 is not marginal. equally, it makes little sense to have a lower res eVF in higher resolution units when it comes to quickly checking that things are I focus and there are no unwanted small elements I the scene. In bright conditions the rear screen is not the tool of choice. High calibre EVF's make it easy.

    • @WilkinsonCameras
      @WilkinsonCameras  Год назад

      Thanks for watching 😊 I can only guess that it’s been done to either keep it to a price point or size… or maybe both. (Not sure on the logic in the GFX system though, where size and price aren’t key points!) I think if you didn’t know there was an alternative option in the X-H2, it would be less annoying! I must say that the viewfinder in the X-T5 is still a good EVF, but when you have experienced and know there’s better… it does make for a tough choice.

  • @bobabout256

    I tried the XH2 and got 1 out of 10 shots pin sharp and by pin sharp, I mean it was the best portrait shot I’ve ever taken. Absolutely crystal clear iris and out of focus eye lashes beautiful skin tones and thought this is the camera. The rest were good just not Sharpe. I was in a shop and a bit rushed so I put it down to user error, not being a Fuji user. I have now seen to many videos saying Fuji’s eye auto focus is not reliable. My usual thing is wildlife and sports with a bit of everything but tracking and autofocus is what I’m looking for. I use D500 and D850 and tried and been put off Z 6&7 ii. What is your relative experience?

    • @WilkinsonCameras
      @WilkinsonCameras  Год назад +1

      Hi Bob, so in the X-T5 video you'll see I wasn't really testing portrait (sometimes we have the cameras for such short periods that it's hard to cram everything you'd like to test in!) however when testing the tracking on moving subjects, including birds, I found it to be excellent and accurate. The buffer was my only issue with the X-T5. It's good for short bursts, but if you are more into sports and wildlife and like the large sensor, then you'd be best looking towards the X-H2. If sports and wildlife are your priority then the tracking and AF and speed of the X-H2S is astounding. I do prefer the image quality from the X-H2 though.
      We did test portrait very specifically with the X-H2 as you'll see in these two videos: ruclips.net/video/NppPHuwQfNY/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/kk04dpnUoE4/видео.html - I didn't experience any issues at all with the focus. It tracked without fail and it always got the subject sharp... even when moving erratically (kids!) There's a couple where my own user error meant one of the kids in the XF 56mm video wasn't always in focus, but that was my settings at fault.
      Are the videos your're referring to talking about Eye AF on older models of Fujifilm cameras? Their AF has come a very long way! I think your comment about not being a Fujfilm user is probably quite valid. We had had very little previous experience of Fuji, hands-on anyway, until we were sent the X-H2S. It was a bit fo a fight to learn to "speak Fuji", but when we did and it all clicked into place, the results spoke for themselves. By the time we got the X-H2 and then the X-T5, we were fluent in Fujifilm and it was therefore easy to get the results we'd hoped for from the cameras :) Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    • @bobabout256
      @bobabout256 Год назад +1

      @@memcrew1 I like Nikon performance and ergonomics and this has become intuitive to me. I have been looking for better focus abilities now technology has improved. I’m also keen to go a bit smaller, lighter, quieter with reliable autofocus and an obtainable budget. So it is time to review. I have tried Sony and I got my best ever wildlife shot of an wild owl in flight with a borrowed Sony A7iv and got perfect eye focus 8 out of 10 shots and without really being fully familiar with the camera 100-400 GM. It was an expensive set up. I failed to achieve reliable focus with Nikon even with more predictable wildlife. I looked at the Fuji because the ergonomics are more familiar than Sony, for me as a Nikon user. The FUJI APSC glass options are great and offer good relative value. I have recently tested the X-H2s with the Fuji 100-400, 50-140 and 16-55 red label lenses all of which are getting on a bit and they were great. However, I did get a numbers of soft shots which is may be the compromise for a lower cost.

    I don't understand the need for S - LOG colour grading using FUJI cameras when the film simulations are so amazing and cut back on the editing time. The FUJI XT3 brought me to the next level in photo and videography. I think the XH2 will do that too.

    • @WilkinsonCameras
      @WilkinsonCameras  Год назад +1

      Think of LOG for video like RAW for photos - it's not just about colour grading. It's about retaining as much data to work with as possible. We talk about colour grading because LOG footage (S-log for Sony, F-log for Fujifilm) requires grading and allows more precision grading as a bonus. But more than the ability to grade with more accuracy, you're retaining more dynamic range from the scene - more blacks and whites, shadows and details, etc. So in post production you have more data to work with. You can't always record this detail when recording in standard profile and you can't add this detail to standard footage in post production. However, you can add in colour, which is what is lost when recording in log. Hope that makes sense! So sometimes you may just want to record in standard profile with a film sim, but other times you'll need to record in LOG.

    I recently posted on the Fuji film Facebook page. I would like Fuji film to actually make a dedicated Stills camera that has no video capability whatsoever. I actually think there's a tremendous opportunity in the future to make a camera that actually has no video capability whatsoever doesn't even have a video dial on it. I just find that there is so much crap video on the Internet. Honestly, when was the last video that you watch that you will remember for the rest of your life that was shot on a camera like this. Where is Photography is a journey and it is something that is almost taking a back seat in the tech development of cameras. Which I find really disappointing, it's almost like they put more effort into the video capability of a camera. Then they do the photography, and that is disappointing. It's why I stuck with my Nikon D850 for such a long time, because essentially it is a stills camera. Yes you can do video on it, but he's really a photography camera

      You'd find it very difficult to accidentally knock the drive mode dial! Take a look from 10:00 onwards where I cover the buttons and dials. The drive mode dial has a little toggle on the front to move it. You'd struggle to accidentally hit this and you'll see in the video that this dial is quite stiff (in comparison to the ISO button), so that it doesn't move when your thumb is moving the ISO dial. Handled the X-T5 today, and although I do think I prefer it to the OM5, in terms of ease of shooting, grip, viewfinder, menu, and I like some of the features such as the different film effects. But it is heavier, and larger, and there doesn't seem to be a lens that would match the 12-40 f2.8 lens for aperture, zoom, size and weight. The kit 16-80 is good but f4, and I do quite a lot of indoors photography. Still torn between the two, but as I have given up the Nikon 7500 with the 18-200 lens because it was just too big and bulky to take out with me much - I think I may be better with the OM-5. If I find my enjoyment of photography increases, maybe I can trade it all in for the X-T5 then. I didn't think the decision would be so hard. Not a weather resistant lens like the 16-80mm, but F2.8 at the widest end plus improved depth of field and low light you’re getting with a larger sensor (versus the OM-5). Also comes in at slightly less than the 16-80mm kit. The 12-40mm F2.8 Olympus lens js 24-80mm equivalent in 35mm terms. The 18-55mm is 27-82.5mm. So very comparable in terms of field of view.
      I think coming from a Nikon DSLR you may also prefer the EVF on the Fujifilm.
      Where the OM-5 will come into its own is if you truly value the very compact size and light weight of the micro four thirds system and the lenses available. For the OM-5 video, I had something like 7 lenses with me in a tiny backpack, all day and it was far less effort and weight to carry round than the Sony A7 III & 24-70 F2.8 I’d usually have!

      @@WilkinsonCameras Thanks again - yes - I did look at the 18-55 lens as well. But if its not weather sealed - aren't I back to square 1 - and then I should just go for the X-S10 which felt great in my hand - really just the lack of weather sealing that put me off.
      I am very unlikely to carry multiple lenses, so I want a bit of an all-rounder for now and may then graduate to more if I get into this. So there seems to be no compact weather-sealed low f stop good zoom lens for the Fuji?
      The viewfinder on the Fuji was miles better than the OM-5 - I really liked it. And everything else about the camera seems better than the Om-5. Maybe as Fuji are on a bit of a roll - I should put it all on pause, and see if they bring out an updated X-S10 with weather-sealing?
      I am literally driving myself mad with this, as I really dont know what's best for me, and the opinions of experts and user are different with everyone I ask.
      In short: I want an easy to use (for an enthusiastic, amateur, beginner) weatherproofed mirrorless camera, thats not too heavy or big, with IBIS, with decent video capabilities, with a lens that is versatile, and good in low light, good viewfinder, easy menu system, nice grip, good sensor, with lens options that include a versatile zoom lens that I can use most of the time, for portraits and landscape, and the ability to achieve that shallow depth of field look, - after which at a later date I may buy more lenses if this develops into a more advanced hobby. And the kit has to allow me to take significantly better images than I can get with my iPhone 14 pro. I still dont there is a camera that ticks all of those boxes - yet!! ? Can you help?

      Hi Phil, I didn't manage to test this combination I'm afraid, but the new XF 150-600mm is fully compatible with X-H2 and X-T5 and will fully resolve the sensor at all apertures, edge to edge. It will probably make a great combination, but if you're planning to use this for fast moving subjects like sport or wildlife and want to use the 20fps then look towards the X-H2. It will be a better balance with such a long lens and also you're going to get longer burst modes with it too. Thanks for watching :)

      Hi Phil, the X-T5 is due to come into stock quite soon. We've already got several pre-orders, but contact the store in a couple of weeks and I'm sure the lads will let you know when both X-H2 and X-T5 are available to look at. Or on December 1st we have a Fujifilm Touch & Try day in Preston where you can see all 3 models and compare :)

If you mean the overall sound quality then we did put a little note at the start that explains we were having some technical difficulties with our mics on this video… unfortunately we had a deadline to meet so had to put it out as it was. All our videos feature proper (not auto-generated) subtitles though so hopefully this will help if you’re having trouble with the audio at any point. Thanks for watching!

    No Battery Grip = NO SALE!!! Fuji has embraced the CANON buisness model of enticing customers to buy the more expensive X-H2 & X-H2S cameras. Despite the new features of the X-T5, Fuji has used the CRIPPLE HAMMER on this camera. I will continue to use my X-T 3 cameras for the foreseeable future.A battery grip is essential for all day long shooting assignments, ie. sports, portraits or candid events!☹️☹️☹️😡😡😡

    • @WilkinsonCameras
      @WilkinsonCameras  Год назад +1

      Whilst we can understand the desire for a battery grip if you’re shouting portrait all day for enhanced ergonomics, the new battery and more efficient processor means that actually you can just carry a spare in your kit and don’t need to rely on having a battery grip for power. The battery lasts a very impressive length of time.
