Blackpool Pleasure Beach! Fun Rides at Seaside Amusement Park | Wooden Coasters, Dark Rides & More!

- Join me for a fun day at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in May 2021 vlog! This historic seaside amusement park is celebrating its 125th anniversary and we check out our commemorative anniversary bricks and ride so many classic and modern attractions like the incredible The Big One blaclpoolroller coaster with views of the Irish Sea, Avalanche, a bobsled coaster, Steeplechase, a ride that is the last of its kind in the WORLD, and classic family rides like Derby Racer, Flying Machines, the oldest ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Nickelodeon Streak, a family friendly wooden coaster, and of course the charming and old fashioned River Caves boat ride and Ghost Train, the first dark pretzel ghost train ride to use the name ghost train! There is so much history here, the most wooden coasters in any U.K. park, and fun dark rides! So much fun and the weather surprised us and gave us a bright blue sunny day for the second half of our day! I also share some footage of our views from The Big Blue hotel, where we had a wonderful stay!

I had no idea the UK had so many theme parks. It’s amazing to see rides that were established over 100!years ago still in operation.
Speaking of Nickelodeon, you should DEFINITELY visit the American Dream mall in NJ, they have a Nickelodeon Universe theme park, an indoor ski slope, and DreamWorks water park.
And yup, Avalanche is a bobsled coaster! Not many of those around, the latest one opened in 2013 at Knoebels in PA. Only eight left in existence. I've been on one called Alpine Bobsled at Six Flags Great Escape in Lake George here in NY. It first opened as the Sarajevo Bobsled at Great Adventure in NJ (since Sarajevo was hosting the Winter Olympics the year the ride opened, 1984), then it closed in 1988 and moved to Great America in IL, closed there in 1995 and finally moved to its final location at Great Escape in 1998. It's fitting for the coaster to be at Great Escape since it's close to Lake Placid, which hosted the Winter Olympics twice in 1932 and 1980. The cars are themed after the different countries that compete in the event like Jamaica and Switzerland
Can't beat those views out of the Big Blue :)

I know right the fact that the funhouse burnt down near fully but the Laughing Man survived virtually untouched makes that even worse

Although many would disagree, IMO, BPB is the best theme park in the UK. I love the others, but something about Blackpool keeps me coming back year after year. It’s captured a part of my heart
I think for me Alton Towers is #1 but BPB is up there and really so different it’s hard to compare. I love it, it’s so charming and agree, it’s definitely captured a part of my heart as well!

Love the good old BPB ! So many rare and historic rides, like the Derby Racer (1 of 2 in the world) and the Steeplechase (only 1 in world now I think) . Glad you liked it!!

Love BPB, it's probably my favourite UK theme/amusement Park. Icon is definitely my favourite coaster there aswell. So glad you enjoyed your day in Blackpool

Hi, this was another wild park. Amazing it's been around for over 100 years 👏🤗. Avalanche would be way too scary for me, but it look fun for people who can ride. I like the horse rides those are cool, boat ride was nice, the haunted ghost train ride looked cool. Those are the type of rides I can ride, and like. Thanks for showing, this is fun, seeing parks I'll never see in person, awesome. So happy you're having wild park times, and enjoying your trip. Steeplechase is very unique. You get 3 credits by riding each track. I only rode one, and I don't remember which one lol
Oh how cool! I only rode one too. Only two were running for the first half of the day and later they opened the 3rd.

This park is on my bucket list. It combines the English seaside, a long history, and some fun rides to boot. I must, must, must visit!
Jackie I love all your videos especially the ones from Florida enjoy your British ones too but you were saying the steeplechase is a historic ride I went on that the first week it was opened I'm think I'm getting old but I love you very much for all your entertainment you have give me over the last few years.

Thanks so much! It opened in 1977 so not as old as some of the rides we rode this day, but the last Steeplechase ride left in the world!
I spent my childhood summers with my dad at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Grand national, Big Dipper and the Ghost Train were our favourites. Thank you for reliving my childhood, haven’t been to Blackpool for so long, I prefer to holiday in Orlando for some reason 😀 🌞🌞🌞loving your English theme park adventures even if our weather is awful most of the time!

Wow! Blackpool is such a Classic Seaside Amusement Park! Ranks right up there with Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. So many great rides and attractions, they really do make great use of the land. Another Great Adventure, Jackie, thanks for having us along! 😃

That looks like an amazing park. I would have loved to have seen all the hotels you stayed in. Traveling internationally it's hard to know where to stay. I would recommend vlogging them in the future like you do at Disney

@@AndyAlert It actually does. Because the spinning airplane ride (Red Arrows Sky Force) was made in 2015. The 1904 rocket ride is called "Flying Machines." I specifically said "spinning airplane" ride. "Flying Machines" doesn't have airplanes on it.

Wow what a fun fun day!!! Those rides looked so fun. Our Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson has " Ye Old Mill" attraction that is over 100 years old and still has the original boats. I think there is only one other still some where up east but that's it. It is a classic dark ride. So if your ever around the mid west first full week in Sept stop by our state fair it's one of the best
Hi Jackie... when new attractions open they always get a celeb to cut the red tape to open it.. well when the steeple chase opened in 1977 the celeb that year was “Red Rum” who was the horse that won the famous grand national race and it walked through the red tape (I remember seeing this as a kid)
Valhalla is hands down the best ride at pleasure beach. It’s sad you didn’t get to experience it but surely you can next year.

Ah man, the Steeple Chase reminds me of the Wacky Soap Box Racers that use to be at Knott’s Berry Farm in California. I use to love that ride as a kid 🥰
Before that they were motorcycle rides. Pretty cool experience

I grew up with a trackless Boblsed ride at Six Flags Over Texas, it was always one of my favorites when growing up.
12:01 I grew up in Blackpool and spent my childhood visiting the park with my Mum and my Grandad. My brick is on the left wall, the first row down that doesn’t have any gaps between names, second from the right. It says “Our Second Home Harrison Sue Rod”. My mum passed away in 2018, so it meant so much that I’ve been able to leave a small mark in a place we love to remember her.

Odd varieties of coasters reminds me of a video of top 10 coasters in Japan or China I have seen (several out there). Some familiar parts, but then oddness (broken track at top of drop that tilts??)

Great video. If hotel is available at theme parks I will always stay there. I love having my own entrance, plus you usually have early access. This place has so many attractions plus your view is amazing!!!

Oh my gosh the last time we went they still had the wild mouse and we literally almost fell out……that was the scariest ride I’ve ever been on
Oh yes.... I went on it just before it was taken down. A real boneshaker with bruises a plenty !
Last time went was 2019 with my daughter who was 13 then and it was her first time. The only ride she backed out of was Ice Blast. I've been so many times, even though I live on the south coast, I love the park. Grand National used to be my favourite ride, but the current trains with their terrible restraints are agonising, and I didn't enjoy it at all. Still love Big Dipper though and I don't find it painful. Ikon is so smooth, amazing ride.
I miss the steeplechase race at California's Knotts Berry Farm so much! Good to see one is still in operation. Finland has a mini version at their Helsinki amusement park - the horses actually go across a hill overlooking the city.

The ride you’re thinking of is powered and the track is flat, so it’s a kids ride rather than a roller coaster.

Ooh...I went on an Avalanche bobsled style coaster at Kings Dominion Park in Virginia years ago and Disaster Transport, which used to be at Cedar Point in Ohio was apparently one of that model coaster too. I went to Cedar Point a lot as a kid, especially for their Halloween event. If you ever get a chance to head up north (and brave our cooler temps) during Halloween season, I recommend Cedar Point Halloweekends. No IPs, but the decor and houses are pretty great and your park ticket covers your visit all day and night, or at least it used to. The last few years have felt a little over-commercial with fast-pass and escape-room style stuff built in and crowds have gotten much bigger. I went to Universal Studios the 2nd year they ever did Horror Nights and I could prob say the same there. I guess everything is better when its still feels like a secret. 🤷🏼♀️
So true! Once things grow, they have to change. But still a lot of fun. One of these years I’ll do a haunts across US tour!

I never realised how the ghost Train was the og one but rumour has it that it's haunted for real by cloggy who was ride operator who was that committed to scares that multiple people over generations have claimed to have seen or hear him decades after his death

I stayed there with my mother for her 80th a couple of years ago. It was great, adjoining rooms and spacious enough for her wheelchair and the tram stop just a minute away to get into town.

Hey. Next time you come the UK you should come up north and visit Scotland. There is not much to do theme park wise. But the scenery, Lochs and mountains are stunning. 🏴
Btw You should have went on Valhalla if it was open in the Pleasure Beach.

@@SuperEnthusedFantastic Jackie. Edinburgh and Glasgow have some cool stuff. But Glencoe is a place you would love. A lot of movie's were filmed there like the battle scene in Highlander and new Indiana Jones movie was being filmed up there last week.

The Grand National is a Mőbius looping coaster all one track but two platforms. Leave one side of station and return on the opposite side. Mőbius wooden coasters are quite rare now. Twisted Collosus before its RMC conversion was a Mőbius when it was known as Collosus. Mőbius loop coasters are quite unique compared to traditional racers like Stampida at Portaventura. I do prefer the mobius layout better but Traditional racers like stampida are more thrilling. Atm Grand nationals having retracking work to make the ride smoother as it was quite rickety i went on this last year and it was a boneshaker. Its good that its getting some TLC. Stampida has had some retracking and banking work done by GCI in last few years to make it run smoother but Stampida needs newer trains because the trains they have give a very rough ride and tbh if they had GCI trains it would make it smoother.
Kings dominion has a Bob sled coaster just not running in 2021. Glad I go to ride in 2019.

Ah, derby racers. When I was a kid, we went to Cedar Park. And I was like this is cute, like a merry go round. Heck no, way faster. I was holding on for dear life., lol
Haha yes and I learned the outer horses give you that feeling even more!
Yes a white knuckle carousel!! One of my faves. It used to be faster and the horses used to go back and forth as well as up and down.... Health n safety laws have neutered it , but it's still a good ride. It used to have NO SEATBELTS back In the day too. .. you had to hold on for dear life.

Six Flags Over Texas has a bobsled coaster, too. You need to make it to the central part of the country where we have bins at rides!
Yes totally! I had planned to do more US theme parks in 2020 but all my plans got changed so I’ll be planning that for maybe next year!
