Fair play, the Pleasure Beach is looking better than it ever has! For decades, Geoffrey Thompson basically let it become run-down and a bit of an eye-sore, but his daughter, who took over from him, has clearly put a lot of money into it and done a hell of a job regenerating it.
Blackpool pleasure beach, still makes my tummy turn over with excitement. This is where we would come as kids, 20 coaches from a working mens club in Stoke-on-Trent, first person to see Blackpool tower while we were travelling in on the coach would get an extra £1, we were all given a bag of crisps and a bottle of Riki and a pound to spend, as a kid this was one of the most exciting days of the year.the scariest ride was the mad mouse ahhhhhhh! Loved the logflumes and the jacket potato’s as you got off. The Grandstand was also a fave. Great memories from many moons ago, I’m 62 now and it’s great to see it’s still up and running for the kids of today to enjoy! Thanks for posting👍🏽🙋🏽♀️
thanks for watching
In the 90's I worked for a company that serviced the Rollercoaster electronics and BPB was my account. There is nothing more scary and freaky than an empty , quiet Theme Park, especially in the rain. I had to "whistle a happy tune" to be brave with all those creaking and odd noises in the distance.
Omg I bet
Hahah good story 🤣
Fun fact : The infusion used to be at Southport Pleasure Land and was called the Traumatiser. It was moved to Blackpool when the park closed. My favourite ride at Blackpool is the grand national, so much air time for a wooden coaster!
wow i didnt know that
I got a bit scared for a second! When I saw this video at first, I thought by "closed" you meant the park permanently shut down or something.
Lol I wouldn't look so happy
Samme lol
so did i!!
It's nice to see someone exploring a park without fear of security and it's light 😂.
LOL
You should really try walking around a closed funfair at night! That's a whole new level of creepy! When I used to go as a kid in the late 70s/ early 80s, there was a time around dusk when the 'day time' people would gradually vanish and then it emptied as it got dark. The silence was practically tangible and the bright optimism of the daylight park was replaced by the sinister lengthening shadows of the night time park. What was jolly and welcoming only a couple of hours earlier became threatening and oppressive. You could easily see why empty funfairs were the ideal stamping ground for Batman villains!
And then the night time people would fill the place and it would become Actually violent, they were mainly off duty sqaddies and lairy teenagers looking for aggro. Not my scene at all, I was out of there sharpish!
Thanks for the tour, brought back some (happy?) memories!👍
There's something inherently creepy about a closed or abandoned amusement park, it's like you're in an episode of Scooby Doo.
As for the Ghost train being haunted, who'd have thought it lol.
Lol
Fantastic video Tim I had many happy hours here with my children back in the 80s x
I can't get over how clean and tidy it all is! Then again it is many many years since I visited. Great video xxx
because they pride themselves in there park
Thanks Tim ,was different experience, looking round Blackpool pleasure beach empty ,can see so much , without people , and on a lovely day ,supurb footage ,thanks Tim 😉👍
Thanks Andy
Loving your channel at the minute, love looking around all the old hotels… you do it for me as I’m only 37 and in ill health at the moment, used to love travelling around old theatres and hotels but it’s all on hold at the moment, sadly, but you’re helping me fill that void… glad I’ve found your channel. Loving the Blackpool videos as that place has a special place in my heart. If I ever won the lottery, I would totally hire out the Pleasure Beach for me and my friends, it would be amazing!
I love your prison hotel videos as well and how you seem to be drawn to the paranormal…
I’m psychic and can easily pick up on energy, so I understand when you say you feel things from certain places…
I’ve been suffering a lot of anxiety lately because of my health scare and ptsd because of the death of my Mum, but finding your videos has helped to calm me down, I don’t know what it is but they have a very calming effect and they are very informative of the places you visit… I envy you but also admire you for showing us the places that maybe not all of us could visit… always feels like we’re with you! Thanks, Tim. X
I applaud the fact there’s never any interruptive adverts on this channel well done Tim
i don't have anything to do with that
Miss when you could just walk round for free
I did lol
Very true indeed ,rip off place now
@@stevencoward3895wouldnt say it’s a rip off. it’s quite cheap compared to some theme parks.
@@themeparkreel its very expensive i will never go in there
@@stevencoward3895And miss out on the fun? Ok, your loss cheapskate. I’ve been there and while it does need a touch up, the fact that it retains its old look gives it that charm.
Brilliant Tim. Rare opportunity to see it closed. Thank you so much for sharing. Lisa ❤️👍💕
You are welcome lisa
The rides turned into dining seats were from Coasters restaurant that used to be on the outside of the park
Of course
What a brilliant exclusive Tim! Loved this
I used to work at the pleasure beach for bout 4 seasons i never new they used recycled rain water and i had never noticed that little rollercoaster carrage either haha i always loved my time working at the park one of the best jobs i had i also visit the park a lot being local a very good video really enjoyed it
Wow see most don't.. even people who work here lol
Hi Tim, looks like a real treat to walk through empty. As your not rushed as you would be on a normal visit.
Lol
Thanks for this Tim. New subscriber here 😀 Trying to lose some weight so the anxiety of not fitting in rides doesn't deter me trying to have fun and seeing this has really pumped up my motivation again. It's been years since I visited as a kid and I'm determined to go and enjoy everything new and old! 🤞
Hello Amy thanks for subscribing
I am exactly the same Amy after anxiety a few years ago going on rides with my weight. good luck to your motivation!
Welcome to the RUclips family
@@mariuskane Thank you!
Good luck Amy you can do it!!
Only visited Blackpool twice. Once some fifty years ago. Then again when visiting our son at the nearby University in Preston, some fifteen years hence. It's too busy for me but obviously great for those who love that certain seaside atmosphere. Cheers for the vid, Tim. 👍
you are welcome :-)
Great video, my family and I currently hold season passes so it’s good to see it closed and empty. Plus I’ve never noticed the coaster on the iron fence.
not many have ... :-)
The laughing man is on at night, heard it at 2 am once as I was walking past the entrance. was so creeped out as it was echoing and really faint
lol imagine it being dark and misty
I went twice last year, had a fantastic time on both occasions. Looking forward to seeing big dipper all painted up this year ready for it's centenary celebration.
I love Blackpool. I can't go abroad due to my health. So myself and my husband love going here every year xx
i love it here too
Great video Tim it was nice they let you in before the rides opened nice to see what goes on behind the scenes
it was :-)
I went there last year for the first time. Great park. River caves creeped me and my partner out for some reason. Icon aswell is mega. Can't wait to get back there.
Ha that's a great ride 😄
Blackpool Pleasure Beach has a wonderful history. I used to love coming to the park years ago when it was free for everyone to enter. My favourite amusement was the Fun House, very funny and smelly with everyone in their stockingfeet. I once had a whole Saturday of fun there in my grey socks, 12 hours from 10am to 10pm, before it was sadly destroyed by fire and Valhalla built in its place. Other lost rides include the Reel, Cable Cars, Monorail, Octopus and more recently Log Flume and Wild Mouse. But the Big Dipper, Grand National, Revolution, Avalanche and much more. The Pepsi Big Max has been around for 28 years starting in 1994.
thanks for the history
Went to Blackpool every year during the Glasgow Fair in the mid seventies. Loved all the old rides and places. The fun house, hated the mad mouse as l always hurt my neck when it turned Suddenly. Good to see the Pleasure Beach looking so clean .
Last time i was there, gold mine and laughing clown, only thing i remember. Think it was 70's.
Love this park so much. This was a brilliant video! Thank you Tim ❤️
You are very welcome
Howdy Laura hope u OK
@@kkrispy2009P surviving lol hope you’re well x
Really enjoyed seeing the Pleasure Beach in its closed status. Great footage
Thanks susan
Like a walk down memory lane alot of my family used to work there so I was there alot as a child just wow to how much it has changed
Yes a few things have lol
Just went today. Very much recommend
Infusion is my favourite ride as well. Its still great seeing the mix of old and new rides.
:-)
Looks like it would be a great day out for the family for when we are over that way, but I've seen the prices, ouch.
but worth it :-)
@@WalkWithMeTim I don't know, my nearest theam park is bigger and cheaper. We do visit Blackpool every year but the prices for the family is a turn off.
The pleasure beach used to be awesome when you could get in for free, and just pay for a pass to ride the rides you want. That way, we used to just go there, ride the big one, then go spend rest of the day mucking around in blackpool itself
Love this park. Love getting my champagne and oysters there.
Me too
Great Vid Tim it’s interesting to see what a theme park looks like when it’s closed
Thanks ross
My favourite park! Thanks Tim! Brilliant!
Really great video Tim thankyou. So many memories for me although it has changed over the years like everything else. All good 😁😁😘😘
You're very welcome
Good to see this while it's closed Tim , our kids loved it here and so did we but mostly just walking around it rather than going on the rides ! Nice tour and good that they use recycled rain water daily to clean it . Thanks ! ~ Anna
yes they are very green :-)
This place is so pretty! Great channel! 🥰♥️♥️♥️ I agree 🥳♥️
Great video Tim. Thanks for posting it 😀
😃
Thanks Tim very much for the walk round Blackpool pleasure beach seems so funny without people ,I have been there a few times through the years I went Blackpool thanks again it was a good video look forward to the next Yvonne 😊
Thanks Yvonne
Great walk Tim. Enjoyed it very much. Have a great evening ☀️
Thanks, you too!
Really interesting to see an empty park like this - great behind the scenes access. This theme park looks amazingly well kept (unlike much of the rest of Blackpool these days…)
I’d love to have this access around chessington (which is my local theme park) and I’m just old enough to remember if only as a zoo!)
It’s a shame that the monorail has closed at Blackpool too - there’s hardly any left!
I love Blackpool Pleasure Beach so much! I went when I was in year 8 for our end of year trip, and now 3 years later I'm going again as a year 11 for the same reason! Can't wait!
i love it too!
Love Blackpool ,love watching you x
thanks sally
A good video of Exploring A CLOSED Amusement Park - Blackpool Pleasure Beach!.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
It was a very good blog of your trip to Blackpool pleasure Beach today tim and gaby
Glad you enjoyed it
Another good video Tim!! Can't wait to go back. Haven't been back since I was a kid but now I have my own child so be amazing to return with my little one :)
me too! I cant wait to take him to nickelodeon land
Was there when I was 6 years old which is over 30 years ago, it's amazing how little has changed.
I'm sure it's changed alot
Great walk through really enjoyed it..... first time I went was back in 1983 on a special holiday by train from London with my then GF, we stayed at Pontins Blackpool which is no longer there.
The Pleasure Beach has always been a great place to visit and whilst it appears Blackpool has hit some hard times and gone down a bit in appearance one can't say the same for the Pleasure Beach. Your tour showed it in a very good light, clean, fresh and well maintained, certainly if I was still living in the UK I'd take time to visit. Allow me to say it was very refreshing, some rides and lovely memories,.... even though walking from almost Lytham / Airport to Blackpool centre every day was quite tiring even then. You do some really interning blogs on many places, most I've visited at some point, however the your style and presentation is easy and clear to follow, I hope the blogs make you a decent living, and bring some good opportunities your way... when You Tube has millions of contributors on lots of topics, ones with clear presentation , and no sensationalism with a good descriptive wording plus clear sound, maybe your get noticed by a bigger company, your'd not be out of place in a major network doing the same. Oh the GF back then we married... had few sound years but split as we grew in different directions a few years ago, no regrets... I know she would have enjoyed your blog too. Keep up the good work., and many thanks.
Thanks Ian , thats very kind of you to say :-)
Great video, Tim! Brought me back to my childhood!
Thanks for the tour!🌷 I haven’t been to Blackpool in my life, I see a lot of people calling it “a dump” and whatnot; each to their own but I like to keep an open mind about places as such and this one’s on the bucket list :) must’ve been pretty awesome to have the theme park all to yourself!
Wow! They've really sorted the place since I was last there. Looks like its worth a trip up there with the family.
Love the vlog, been going to pb nearly 50 years, but only live 40 mins away, my children have ridden everything on there, and we have got our names on a brick
oh did you see them on the vid
@@WalkWithMeTim ye really good idea
This is what I suggested ! I am so glad u were able to do it
did u closed or just to go here lol
Could see what looked like the linear motors that accelerate oblivion ? enzo uses them for sure.
Not sure
Great. Idea! I visited the park about 25 years ago as I wanted to ride The Big One. I used to love roller coasters but I hated the Big One. I think it’s because it’s so high up! I always find abandoned or unopened theme parks really eerie!
Well as the sun was out it felt great
Loved this thank you!!
You're so welcome!
Hey Tim great vlog this one mate and walk round so lovely there let u walk round been loads of times on rides on years gone by ...... I heard other day from a friend In Blackpool there put the prices for the rides sky high haven't there that's why people have been staying away I heard 💯😊
Not sure but everyone is putting up prices
wow ive never been to Blackpool but i will put it on my list ! great tour thanks ! :)
You should
Hiya Tim, great tour around. Thank you for sharing. My youngest would love this place. Have a great week.
have you ever been?
@@WalkWithMeTim No, never been to Blackpool.
@@NickyDunn you are missing out 😁
Great vlog, best to go when there's no queues!!
Absolutely!!
I was waiting to ride Icon, and where the gold boxes are the ENTIRE wall just retracted like something out of a Bond movie. Another train just slid out onto the tracks it was so cool.
Lol
Brilliant job Tim im looking forward to my visit next month i cant wait.
have fun
Wow that was a brilliant vlog Tim 🙏🙏😎😎👍👍
Thanks 👍
Great video Tim. I used too operate the texas tornado at frontier and Morecambe and had too walk the track every. Morning and it was a spectacular view. Will walk the big one
Very cool!
A bit expensive for a family day out these days at the pleasure beach for us anyway.
worth it tho
@@WalkWithMeTim of course it is if your going on most if not all the rides, but I'm afraid poor granny and grandad will have to sit in the bingo arcade until we get out, they don't go on rides and I'm not paying 48 quid each for them to just watch us have a good time.
When you talked about the stream I generally said out loud yeah I put one of my boots trough it once😂😂
I like how Blackpool takes care of people's belongings. By having different storage compartments for each train.
yes agree
Cant wait for the video!
:-)
This was a fantastic video! Thank U👍👍
🥰
This video was amazing, cheers man!
thanks hope u subbed
Hi Tim ,we have just back from Saundersfoot Pembrokeshire it's absolutely beautiful go to copper hall first & walk through arch to another beach shops stunning plus beautiful weather .we had ride on topless bus to Tenby was really nice .we live in mid Wales Aberystwyth I think you will absolutely love it .thank you for your nice vidios 👍🏖️☀️
Sounds great Karen
Coppet hall has big car park & literally 5 minutes you are by lots restaurants etc & a beautiful beach ⛱️.⛱️☀️🤗
Very nice Vlog Tim Thank you
Thanks Sandra
Loved that walk Tim.
I first went on The Big One in 1996 with my then fiancé now husband.
Honestly it was the worse rude I’ve been on as it’s just a bar holding you in & so open & exposed in the carriage😮
I’ve never been so scarred, I thought I was going to fall out. I clung to my now husband nearly crying & screaming, I’m going to fall out aggggggggghhhhh😵💫
Never been on it since.
Yet I loved the Kraken Ride as I’m fully stuck in😉
It’s really changed in those years many new rides at Blackpool. I love the seats you mentioned from old rides a great feature wasn’t it?
Once again another great walk 👍😉👏👏
Fascinating video Tim and very enjoyable. I've been there quite a few times with the family although a bit expensive now. My wife loves to go and see the Hot Ice Show! Love the drone shots. Very professional looking vids. Thanks again for sharing. Better than watching the telly. 👍🙂
wow thanks! and believe it or not that was using google earth rather thank drone :-)
@@WalkWithMeTim excellent job. Can't wait to see the next vid. 👍
I love fairgrounds. This brings back some memories but I would say it’s more sophisticated now, in a good way. I like abandoned ones too. They are fascinating and eerie when empty. I’m not so brave these days to go on the Big Dipper😂
I'm taking my family here for the first time in a few weeks and I remember loving val halla ride. So I was really worried it was closed until you mentioned it near the end. It's weird seeing it as so much looks the same as it did 15 years ago but still just as good
Have fun!
24 years on and my heart still hasn’t recovered from a trip on the old mad mouse ride. Jesus, terrifying.
I remember the Mad Mouse on Rhyl Funfair.. I don't remember one being at The Pleasure Beach. Could be wrong though.
How great was that Tim spooky nobody there but thoroughly enjoyed the walk through the Pleasure Beach love Blackpool can’t beat it. 👍
agree tracy
This is Wild, my family were more Yarmouth types due to the family links but this brought back some bizarre memories from being like 3 years old on the cars haha, another belter Tim, keep up the good work!
thanks :-)
Got to say, Blackpool pleasure beach always delivers year after year
Agree
I'm enjoying your videos 👍thanks for sharing
Thanks jane
I worked here for 3 years. I worked 6am till opening, the amount of phones, money, items I have found working there for 3 years is absurd!! one morning I found 3 phones and 74 pound in coins and notes. there is cameras everywhere, especially the locations that items are dropped, lost....so no you can't pocket anything. but I am allowed to take anything under £10 as its classed as a "tip" lol
Back in the 90s a friend of mine put their bag in a locker at some point in the day and we only remembered when we were half way down the m55. We phoned the pleasure beach and they actually answered (these were the times the pleasure beach was open till late every night) and they said we could come back. It was after midnight and a security guard met us at the gate and escorted us through the park in total darkness to retrieve the bag. Was a very different experience in silence and darkness.
Wow I bet
For those visiting blackpool and looking for an apartment nearby, you can visit Granada Apartments Pleasure Beach! I can definitely give you a discount!!
Advert?
That laughing man used to scare me as a child when it was near the old fun house,if you remember it,still freaks me out today haha
me too lol
@@WalkWithMeTim I used to love the fun house,my son can't wait for valhala to open again its hes fave ride,im not 2 keen but still go on it 🤔
There was an Alice in Wonderland dark ride I used to love going on when I was younger while my Dad, Uncle and cousin went on the Pepsi Max 😄
:-)
What a awesome video Tim,it's great to walk round the park when it is empty.ive seen the video when it's open.the big one isn't for me as the height is no good for me.
It's very very high!
This is pretty cool 👍
Great video Tim!
Glad you enjoyed it!
another great video and you cant beat the Big One.remember being there when Simply Red were filming there for a music video.
Wow that's was a classic
I've been to pleasure Blackpool about 2 or 3 times whilst I've been on holiday to Blackpool first time was in 2012 & last time was in 2017 & favourite ride there is the car's. Keep up the good work 👍
Great ride I agree, thanks Andrew
@@WalkWithMeTim You very welcome my friend 👍
Great video --bit sort of spooky. good job
Lol
Loved this video Tim. Took me back to my teenage years in the 70's. Living in Manchester then, we visited Blackpool a lot. I loved the Wild Mouse, I just looked it up and see that it stopped operating it in 2017. It was one tough ride. Look forward to the next video seeing you on the rides.
thanks Debbie , that video link was at the end
I loved that ride. Always felt you were going to be flung off into the Irish sea. 😂
@@WalkWithMeTim thanks Tim. We watch via the TV and sometimes don’t get those links.
Oh my goodness yes!! THE most terrifying ride in the park!
Fun house was my favourite and I hated going pass the laughter man
Great video as usual Tim, BPB certainly is a great Amusement Park steeped in history 😃
Indeed
Hi Tim another interesting post there is a shop in the park selling sweets and stuffed toys on a ghost hunt there were two children who move things around i know you mentioned Mr cloggy when you do the vaults in scotland watch out for Mr boots you can hear keys and he can be aggressive best wishes.
Interesting!
I been to blackpool pleasure beach on Friday man I love Blackpool from Scotland and my favourite ride is Wallace and Gromit thrill o matic and the rides at Nickelodeon land
