    Kahmari Montgomery USA ran 46.24 in High school, and now runs 44.58 three years later, and has a 43.38 4x400m last leg split

      overdoingevery1 One full lap is 400 meters. That is the official standard for most tracks.

      That split wasn't quite 400m as that time was when he crossed the finish line which was actually only 388.5m. Still a very impressive split but not that fast.

    USA has a very deep and talented pool of quarter milers to choose from:
    Kahmari Montgomery, Paul Dedewo, Michael Norman, Michael Cherry, Fred Kerley, Wil London III, Gil Roberts, Tony McQuay, LaShawn Merritt and others.
    Plus, Tyrese Cooper and Brian Herron are names in the college ranks to look out for in a few short years.

      in finals you arent allowed to change alternate relay teams,so you have to keep the same team that you qualified with.

      @@ZennSnipes That is not true. The US has routinely used alternates during qualifying rounds and then brought out the big guns for the finals.

    As a white American I fully realize that at the World Class level we have "ZERO" white sprinters. If it weren't for the descendants of slaves we would do quite poorly in Track and Field

    Someone please remind Jamaica that the 400 m races and relays are sprinting events. For a proud nation of fantastic runners, this is shameful. Where are the budding 400m runners? Come on Jamaica. Geez

    America is the dominant force in both 4by1 and 4by4 relays in men and women. They always have choices and reserves in their playstore. That's why they will continue to dominate the sprints for a long time to come. They always plan ahead and raise athletes for international competitions.

    south africa's anchor runner ran really smart- he stayed relaxed and even let the pack catch up a little so he'd have energy for the finish. it would have been tempting to take off fast going after the americans, but then he'd lave lost 2nd.
