Put the onion in the freezer for about 20 minutes before you cut it. You don't want to freeze it, just get it cold. It makes them virtually tear free to cut 💗
One way to thicken the gravy is to use the juice from the meat instead of water in the cornstarch. I'm sure its delicious either way! Everything looks delicious! Thanks Mandy! I hope you and Stephen have a blessed weekend! 💕
I think I'd like the roast beef on an onion bun with a slice of provolone on it sounds really good to me. Looks like one of those Comfort meals on a cold rainy day
Mmmmm! Carol’s Pot Roast is making my mouth water! I think the Taco Tortellini is also a great recipe to cut in half to serve two. I’m working on collecting recipes that are easy, inexpensive, and small to make a cookbook for my kids to give them when they move out. ❤
That seemed like a pretty small amount to me already. I would expect 2 people could eat that but if you served it with a salad you could probably get meals out of it. Maybe you don't like left overs?
I loved that he thanked you for cooking and you thanked him for doing the yard work. Y'all are so sweet together. It's not lost on me. I love watching you together!
I made the Texas pot roast in the slow cooker today. My picky 6 and 8 year olds LOVED IT!! My husband and I enjoyed it too, but it is so rare to find something that both kids will not only eat, but eat with gusto! Many thanks to Carol for the recipe. It will be worked into frequent rotation around here!
That pot roast looks fantastic! I never thought of using fajita seasoning, but I am for this weekend. Thank you Mandy and thank you Carol. Saying hi to you in the Hill Country from East Texas!
The food looked great as always. Those roses are beautiful! How is their scent? I had an old fashioned rose bush at one my homes and I swear I woke up in heaven every morning during the summer, that scent came in my windows and and made me smile.
If you snip your herbs put them on a cookie sheet and let them dry on your car dashboard you will always have dried herbs. On a hot day in the car they will take about 3 hours. Bonus = your car will smell fantastic
You guy's are the Sweetest couple ever. Thank you for sharing Mandy and Steven have a blessed day stay safe and healthy. Yummy on the chicken zucchini bake. 😋😋😋🙏❤🙏❤🙏
For your subbie supper this time, use a small amount (1/4 cup) of the pot liquor from the roast and add that to beef broth (to equal how much water you would use) to boil your potatoes in. Takes them to the next level.
I am making my great grandson a recipe book. He's 15 and likes to cook. I use a lot of the recipes you have. Is there any recipes of your own that we could try. Steven enjoys eating the meals so much. I'm surprised he doesn't weigh a lot. Or you too for that matter. I love your new back porch. Gracey Lou seems to love it too.
We made the pot roast and the flavor was really good! However, for anyone concerned about the salt content you can easily adjust it. I didn’t add the celery salt or the truffle salt or any other additional salt. And I used water instead of beef broth. We still found it too salty near the end so I added an additional cup of water to it and it was perfect. We used the leftovers for beef sandwiches on onion buns topped with provolone cheese. Thank you for the great recipes!
Leave an onion in your refrigerator so when you need to cut it up it will be cold. I have found this really reduces the tearing. Good luck! Great recipes, thanks so much! 😍
@@lennybuttz2162 Lenny, keep cutting your onions as you do without putting them in a frig. No chef cries when slicing, dicing, mincing onion. They certainly don't put them in a frig. I made Carol’s Texas Pot Roast. Sooo good! All those ingredients I would not even think of using like that! I will make it again as a Sunday pot roast dinner for my family when they come to visit! I’ve never used my instant pot with a chuck roast before. So tender and delicious! Thank you!
Hi Mandy. I’m in love with your new porch and those flowers are so pretty! I accidentally made a recipe very similar to your taco tortellini recipe. It was a one pot stove top recipe, but I didn’t have the pasta they used so I used tortellini. It was so good! I have noticed that more You Tubers are starting to have their husbands join in as taste testers. I’m sorry but Steven is the best. You guys genuinely seem to have fun together and Steven is naturally funny. He doesn’t have to try. 😁 Thanks for sharing as always.🤗💕
When making planks from a zucchini or other similar vegetable if you lay them down and after cutting the first plank roll it onto the new flat side. This allows much greater control for cutting the rest of the planks and also greatly reduces the chance of cutting yourself😊
@@MandyintheMakingThis recipe is very good, but because of some of the ingredients, was too salty for us. Will make again, but will cut back on some of the ingredients. Thanks for the recipes and keep on doing what you do. Blessings from GA.
Mandy, we made the taco tortellini bake and it was delicious! I cooked it on the stove, just boiled the tortellini separately and omitted the broth, then broiled in the oven. My husband devoured it - there were no leftovers 😄 thanks for the great inspiration!
Pot roast my favorite dinner of all. Grandma used to make it every Sunday for early dinner. And waffles for Sunday breakfast. Yummy! I can't wait to make it. I use my slow cooker and it turns out perfect. Can't wait to try with the new gravy ingredients. Thank you for sharing this and for helping me remember granny 👵❤
I don’t know if someone already mentioned this, but when you are trying to make thin sliced zucchini or squash, lay them on there side and use your vegetable peeler to get even thin slices, then just keep repeating. It is a great way to get them even and a whole lot safer than using your knife. 😊
I think I would lay the zucchini down and slice it in half first and then turn them on their side after you do a very thin slice on the side so it stays steady and then slice slice slice
I love fresh herbs but you can also dry instantly any fresh herbed in the microwave. Place leaves on a plate and in about a minute you have dried herbs.
Boil, Foil, Bowl.....cracking up! They all sound the same the way you say them. I cringe everything you say it...🤣🤣 Love watching your channel!! Just picking on you!
Cutting onions makes you cry well do this take two or three paper towels with them lay them on your cutting board when you're cutting an onion and it should help from not tearing up I've done it and trust me it works!
Hi Mandy, I have gotten lots of recipe ideas from watching your show. Thank you so much for sharing. I also wanted to mention a food scale is great for measuring out a lot of things. Hope you all have a blessed weekend 😊
We did the creamy garlic pork chops last weekend and saved the leftovers. We made biscuits the next morning and had biscuits and Garvey with thin slices of pork chop in them! It was so much better the next day! Try it-sounds weird but it’s so good!!!!!

I love that the Catalina Crunch cookies are vegan (Oreos are accidentally vegan too, but not very healthy)! Steven and you are just adorable (I probably say that too much). He reminds me of my sweet BF that we lost to depression at the end of December…he would get so happy when I cooked and then when eating. I do love the peacefulness of your videos. ♥️
I noticed that you thawed you ground beef in the microwave and then browned it in the instant pot. I have learned the best trick from Six Sisters on pressure cooking frozen hamburger in the instant pot, then finalizing it on sear saute. To do this, place 1 cup of water in the bottom of the instant pot, then place your trivet and then the hamburger. Pressure cook for 20-25 minutes with a quick release. Once done, dump out the water and grease and crumble on sear/saute until fully browned. After doing this, you will never go back to trawing in the microwave!
I just went through a few recent videos trying to find the Instant Pot Taco Tortellini casserole recipe. 🤣 I saw it before and thought that sounded good but forgot to get the recipe, I was too entertained by you guys! You always perk up my day.
In case you want to know why onions hurt your eyes. When you cut onions, they release a sulfur compound that converts to sulfuric acid when it hits the moisture in your eyes. That is temporary but painful. The goggles is the way to go.
I agree with @rachellee.9389, my cats, Tempest and Rivan, are appalled about that. Apparently, Gracie knows how to use the computer and emailed everycat about it lol
Im not a fan of heavy whippig cream myself, but i get an incredible creamy mashed potatoes by adding sour cream. It makes my mashed potatoes taste like an inside of a baked potato.
