    The Stormtroopers on the Death Star were ordered to let the rebels escape (and by extension, not to kill them). This much we know as it's confirmed in the movie. They were just following orders.
    Many battle hardened Stormtroopers (like the ones mentioned in the video) do indeed have lots of experience (and as a result, precise aim).
    There are also many incompetent Stormtroopers as well, due to the empire's rapid expansion. At the time of the original trilogy, new clones are no longer being made and training for the normal humans is rushed in an attempt to quickly fill in the ranks.
    When Obi Wan comments on the accuracy of Stormtroopers, well, that's been his experience. He's been hiding on Tatooine since the fall of the republic. This is a planet run by gangsters and criminals and the empire only sends it's very best there.
    As for the Ewoks, Luke and the group choose not to kill them all (and instead to trick them) because they're the good guys. They could have over powered them if it came to it. On the other hand, the Stormtroopers on Endor are all desk jockeys who trained mostly in computers (they run the shield generator) and they were not just overpowered by Ewoks, it was both the Ewoks and the Rebels.
    Just my two cents. :)

    Also, Darth Vader said 'Bring them to me ALIVE'. This further proves the theory right.

    I can't count how many times I've made this point to people. Spread the word! Save the credibility of the evil Galactic Empire being an actual threat and a force to be reckoned with despite the Force being ever not in their favor nor with them in any way aside from Vader being a higher up for the better of 20 something years!!!

    The death star makes sense, but what about at cloud city? They have nothing to gain by letting Lando Leia and Chewy escape.

    Take everything said here and the helmet design flaw and and you got the perfect excuse for the "Stormtrooper aim". I would love to see more killing in the original trilogy...Leia, Luke, Han, chewie, and lando all survive and while many friends, comrades, and merc slautered just so the "A-Team of the galaxy" survives

    Given the number of kills Stormtroopers have throughout the original Trilogy the idea they cannot aim is silly to me. And of course they intentionally missed hitting the Rebels during their escape from the Death Star. They needed to track track them to the Rebels' base and for that to work Leia needed to escape.
    Moreover, the only people they ever seem to have a real difficulty in hitting were our main characters. And in epic-adventure stories it is common for nameless minions to miss hitting the heroes of the story. It is something to show the main characters as being awesome and heroic. They are a cut above the average person, being able to dodge dangers that normal people would not be able to. That is the idea. That is why nameless Rebels get killed in the dozens by Stormtroopers, but those same Stormtroopers can almost never land a shot on our main heroes.

    In the last Episode of Star Wars: Ewoks, Dr. Raygar kicks the Ewoks around with ease, standing a much better chance alone with a few battle droids than the Emperor's best troops with all their vehicles.

    the boarding of the tantive IV and the assault on echo base were excecuted by the elite 501st legion, vaders fist. but the majority of the imperial army consists of poorly trained troopers, because tthe empire needed lot's of men to keep order.

      After the destruction of the 1st death star. Alot of the Well Trained StormTroopers died. But even the low quality ones where On Par with rebel Troopers, according to the comics

    Keep in mind that Captain Rex said that he hates Stormtrooper armour and couldn't see a thing out of it.

    • @CaptainLock1
      @CaptainLock1 8 лет назад +1

      It is due to the fact that the eyes aren't holes, they are cameras projecting the outside into the helmets "peep holes" which are tiny so it would be really hard to see :-) .

      And Han Solo said he can't see anything before they got on the elevator to the prison block if I'm not mistaken.

    This doesn't account for Rebels.

  • @SleepingGroke
    @SleepingGroke 9 лет назад +8

    Or the easy answer, they cant see shit because of the helmet design. Just look at them. The eyes are way too far away from each other.

      +Sleeping Groke I'm pretty sure that's the reason, In star wars rebels season 2, Rex makes a comment about how he cant see a thing with the storm trooper helmet

      I know.

    • @guyjackson2062
      @guyjackson2062 8 лет назад

      +Sleeping Groke I guess that would explain why the Rebels, who generally have open-faced helmets, are better shots.
      Also why Obi-Wan has a falsely high opinion of their accuracy: his last military experience was during the Clone Wars twenty years previously, when the clone troopers' helmets had a kind of T-shaped vision slit which gave them a better field of vision and, hence, ability to actually aim properly.

  • @trainknut
    @trainknut 9 лет назад +1

    Good points, honestly the Rebels were even worse.
    The reason they weren't good also could be traced to their training, while many Stormtroopers were at one point Clones, the losses combined with the fact that Clone production halted when the Republic became the Empire meant they probably resorted to rapidly recruiting humans from all through the Galaxy and using the clones to oversee training(due to their combat experience and extreme discipline)
    On top of that, the Clones first started many many years before the time of the original trilogy, most of the clones are probably dead by the time of A New Hope(assuming their shortened childhood development time resulted in shorter lifespans)

    My hypothesis is that the stormtroopers on the Death Star had probably only worked desk job and hadn't been in real combat before. Whereas the troopers on Tatooine that killed the Jawas and then Owen and Beru Lars had much more combat experience. Not all stormtroopers are created equal.

    • @RevengeOfThaNerd

      +Freemind They are clones... They are created equal.

    • @Tech_coffee
      @Tech_coffee 9 лет назад +1

      +Revenge of the Nerd stormtrooper are NOT clones, there are regular persons that fight for the empire. You can see that some stormtroopers are taller than others for example, and this mean that they can't be clones

    • @RevengeOfThaNerd
      @RevengeOfThaNerd 9 лет назад

      ***** Episodes 2-6, they are clones. They even state this in Clone Wars. Some are taller because, well extras aren't all built the same. It does appear that in Ep. 7 they are not all clones, hence the black trooper.

    • @Tech_coffee
      @Tech_coffee 9 лет назад +2

      +Revenge of the Nerd clones in ep 4 were become too old to serve the Empire, and the most were replaced by imperial citizens, volunteers and non volunteers. Remember that between ep 3 and 4 have passed 23 years.

  • @radicatodorovic2889
    @radicatodorovic2889 8 лет назад

    Or they are actually shooting normal, as Jango Fett was an elite bounty hunter and the clones used to shoot very accurately but since the Empire doesn't use the clones anymore, the Troopers won't shoot as good as they are not clones of some elite bounty hunter

  • @cullysloy2705
    @cullysloy2705 8 лет назад

    I think storm troopers are completely inbred from cloning and re-cloning over the decades, that their intelligence and trigger fingers are far from Jango Fetts original template.

    • @cullysloy2705
      @cullysloy2705 8 лет назад

      +fook offplz I don't disagree with this theory tho it makes sense just saying storm troopers are shadows of the clone army.

  • @Ollyp-en6yj
    @Ollyp-en6yj 9 лет назад

    if the storm troopers are still clones of jengo, maybe he cant aim for shit and thus they cant either

  • @TajaAllys
    @TajaAllys 8 лет назад

    I know this might not make much sense, but I think Stormtroopers could miss their targets because they want to. Not all of them are clones, as the episode VII shows, and if they're conscious and feeling beings why wouldn't they fight for the light side ? I mean, Imperium would know everything about their families and life and if a stormtrooper changed the side his entire family would be killed. So they just miss the rebels so they could liberate the galaxy and no one know anything - the stormtroopers do their job and rebels win.
    Does it make any sense ? I really like StarWars but I don't know all the connection. Is this theory possible ? Thank you :-)
    P.S I'm sorry for my english, I'm still learning.

      why would they join the army of stormtroopers then, insted of joining the rebels?

    • @TajaAllys
      @TajaAllys 8 лет назад +1

      +TugaaPower
      I don't know exactly the situation in Imperium but in ep. VII they take them away as children. And you can always change your mind after seeing what really happens. The propaganda can be strong, but some people still have enough morality to see the good.
      Also sometimes it's more effective if you're a spy inside then revealed enemy.
