Not sure if this is still canon.. but the storm trooper armors actually specialized in dissipating the heat from blasters.. storm troopers that are hit are actually just knocked out… not dead
In the Young Jedi Knights series, an older Imperial explains to a recently recruited trooper that his armor is proof against most conventional weapons but is useless against blasters. Then again, that series is no longer canon whereas Rebels is, and I lost count of the number of times Zeb claps two Stormtroopers heads together, literally cartoon style, and they're immediately out of the fight/dead so it apparently doesn't even offer the protection of say, a children's bike helmet.
Storm trooper armor was actually really good for the weight and price I think the reason the troopers die in one shot is because the chest was a lot weaker the the rest of the armor.
@@09bonkers ah yes, we will design out armor to be weak in the area our troops are most likely to be hit. Turning greedo into a good guy was a genius move. Every space thug must be terrified to see the stormtroopers suddenly eradicate their galaxy wide enemies in less than a day.
The most ironic thing is that the joke about the stormtroopers' faulty aim is solely due to a misunderstanding of the 1977 film. The imperial soldiers had orders to make the princess, Luke and Ian escape in order to trace the rebel base on Yavin IV: just consider how the stomtroopers mow down the rebel soldiers without too many problems at the beginning of the film.

There was order in the galaxy already. The empire had a working and very strong economy, everyone could get a job, the death star helped with giving even more jobs for people. @@version1.27 Stormtroopers don't have bad vision. That line was improved by Mark Hamill and they just kept it in the audio for release. This is Hollywood. Every main character has plot armor. It's the same with every movie, and it's not how real life goes down. This can be fixed with good writing and directing, but that rarely ever happens.
Well stormtroopers could be considered even better than the clones but literally the only thing that fucks them is plot armour for example most of the time they are ordered to leave alive the mai cast, otherwise they butcher their enemies
The other version of the Yavin scenario would be: Stop waiting for the moon to rotate, blow up Yavin. It'll blow to bits and likely smash the moons and mess up anyplace anyone there could fly through. Then blow up the moon if you must. This video is gold.

Fun fact: George Lucas initially didn't want people to wear glasses because he wanted to imply that medical science was so advanced that no one needed corrective lenses. Then the Clone Wars happened.
My favorite bit of unofficial lore is that the Stormtroopers are actually amazing shots, and the only reason our heroes get away is because they are told to shoot near them to make it look good, but let them live so that Palpatine can get them to where he needs them to be for his plans!
And that they dont actiualy die, instead the armor absorbs the energy but knocks them unconcious ! (apart from the guys that got shot and fell down some pits but we dont talk about them)
Thats sort of is actual lore though, in the opening scene of A New Hope they have really good aim and later on in the movie Leia says that they let them get away (so that they would end up leading them to the rebel base)
So the Stormtroopers (at least in some cases) let the Jedi get away to let them do stuff furthering Palpatine’s plans? Wow, Palpatine is a master planner and managed to fool even us. I guess the rest could be Jedi dodging but that is an obvious handwave.
Plot twist: they were so fast and effective at stomping out the Rebel Alliance that the Empire no longer have need of so many stormtroopers and so as a result most stormtroopers have been made redundant. Furthermore, the deal made between HR and Darth Vader for improved eye care came at a reduction of severance packages. So many stormtroopers now find themselves unemployed, credit-less and struggling to find work other than the now over-saturated private security market. On the plus side, Gary now has more time to spend with his daughter.
They even upgraded their weapons to pierce through plot armor!

Imagine if troopers also had armors that actually protect them.

For those wondering, Vader canonically cares about the stormtroopers and will try his best not to waste their lives. The stormtroopers also canonically loyal to him due to Vader actually fighting alongside them and not in the back giving orders like other commanders.
(apart from the guys that got shot and fell down some pits but we dont talk about them)
...cause Palpatine is pulling everyone's strings endlessly, throughout time, just like Jigsaw...
Even Obi-wan said they were "only imperial stormtroopers are so precise" I believe we're his words.
