How to Create Realistic Hair in Blender 3.5 New Hair System
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 28 июл 2024
- As you know, the curves-based hair system was first introduced in Blender 3.3. In the 3.5 release, Blender included 26 hair assets for the first time to make hair easier. We can make any kind of hair, fur, or grass easily using these built-in geometry node assets. In this tutorial, we'll create a curly hairstyle using these nodes. Enjoy watching!

as someone who has been frustrated trying to learn this for days THANK YOU . I have ADHD and could not find a tutorial that was as clear and easy to follow as this. Love that you stay strictly on step to step instructions rather than using a bunch of filler words. thanks so much
lmao same
This is the first tutorial I've seen that thoroughly shows how to best add hair curves in layers from bottom to top/comb them and doesn't just essentially go "just add curves lol". The explanations for each setting in the geometry nodes helped too. Thanks a lot!
Great tutorial. Clear explanation. Thanks.
You're the MVP! This was the only tutorial I could find and follow and actually get the same result as the video. I can't thank you enough for this.
Thanks for making it in depth, a big thanks
the other comments beat me to it but as the others said.... this is easily the most clear and concise tutorial for this in ALL of youtube. THANK YOU
Thank you for the clear and concise tutorial!
Straight to the point and no BS. Clear path from start to end. Thank you!
This is the video that I needed. Thank You!
wow, Thank you very much for this tutorial
they look awesome! Thx for the tutorial
Brilliant tutorial. Clear delivery. Well organised. 👍👍
Excellent video, down to the point. Useful tip is that you can have same shader setup that supports both Eevee and Cycles by having two Material outputs and choose eevee and Cycles in the dropdownlist
Excellent!! You are genius. Thanks a lot.
Finally, I did it. I love your tutorial. Thank you so much ~~
Man, you are amazing, thank you for the tutorial!
Great stuff! Thanks
simple, clear, great
really easy to follow ! nice tutorial
Great tutorial! Thank you!
Thank U soooo much🤩 for such a simple and understandable tutorial.🥳 I'm a newbie and this is very helpful for me!🤓🤗
I think there's no better tutorial on RUclips than this one to use this feature, simple, clear, objective, not long, keep it up, that's what we're looking for! And I have a question, what form should you use to animate these hairs? I didn't see how to apply the dynamics as in the conventional way...thanks for your attention and for the great tutorial!
The best tutorial thank you !
One question I had was how to control the number of actual points number of the curves when painting density . Even if I set the count to 24 or more , the ‘proxy’ curve is used in the Groom network . I can see the detailed curve as I sculpt it , but once in object mode it just reverts to the lower res points
You are creative, thank you
thanks a lot from heart man💖💖🌸
Güzel calismalara devam .tesekkurler
Thank You! Super
Beatifull...!!! Thanks !! 😘
thank you for the video
Thanks a lot, Brother
Congratulations on best tutorial blender That I've already watched
Nice tutorial 🙏
Awesome Thank you so much, would love to see you do French Braids
Nice Pronunciation. Easy to understand this accent
THANK YOU SO MUCH BROOOOO
Thanks!
your tutorial was very simple and clear, I want to export these curves to FBX, how to do that
thanks you
thnx
golden video
Hey can you make a video showing us your viewport render settings for optmized viewport manipulation with the brushes, please ?
Thank you so much for this tutorial! It was easy to follow !
I'm a beginner, do you know how I can use the Hair I creates in daz3d?
Here's what I'm doing...
I separate the hair from the head and export it as a object.
When I add it to daz3d it looks like a blob. One is even looked like I took a marker and scribbled spirals around d the head 😂
I guess my question is. How do I keep the texture?
❤
I love the voice. It reminds me of Tim Meadows in walk hard.😅😅. Also I love the tutorial. It's very helpful.
very good lesson, but I have a question. how can you export the hair in the usual fbx format with the color that I gave them before?
VERY NICE TUTORIAL!!! PLZ ALSO MAKE TUT ON HAIR ANIMATION .
For now, this is a great and lightweight hairtool in Blender and you made it more easy. Thanks!
One question: did you found out any way to animate it?
Thx you. I didnt have time to find out. But I want to make a short tutorial if I find out.
@@GraphicsMK Great! I'm subscribed, so I'll be waiting. 😁
I think lattice deform might work for it, I will like to see your tutorial on it...
The above tutorial is the best I have seen, keep it up Sir
Your all blender tutorial amazing sir, you are a great like teacher, I follow you 1year ago. By the way I am from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳
Hi! I have a problem with using interpolate hair. When applying it, amount of hair becomes very small, and positioned very far from each other (yes, of course surface and uv are indicated). I tried to change value "distance to guides", but it doesn't properly work at small values, only starting from 10-20 cm, something like that. Finally, even setting the density very high (50000-100000 or more), result looks less then the initial curves. I founded out experimentally, that scale of the model influences for this, for example, if head is big enough (1-2 m), hair interpolation works more or less correctly, like in this video. But if it has more human scale (10 times smaller), a mentioned issue appeared. What should i can do?
I do have some questions. After setting the "Set Hair Curve Profile" modifier from the asset library, is it possible to take this and retain it as geometry when converting to Mesh? I've tried just Applying the Modifier before converting it to Mesh, but it loses the geometry after converting to Mesh.
I know hair curves are a bit different from Bezier/Path curves, and Hair curves will not convert directly to Bezier or even Path curves. (So basically, I have to convert from Hair Curves to Mesh and then to Curves.) Am I missing a step? Or do I need to simply use the Hair Curves modifier as a sort of reference so that when I convert to Mesh, and then to Bezier Curves, I know what diameter I am looking for? I think I just answered my own question. LOL! Thanks anyway. Great tutorial!
Great tutorial. Loud and clear. I like this voice. Do you use text-to-speech software?
Thx. Yes I use tts software.
looks good and all and i see alot of tutorials on this but it seems not really anyone show how to animate it
does this new hair system not support dynamics yet or how do you animated it so you can swing the head or head bang and see the hair fly around not going through the face
is that not a thing yet for the new system ?
how to make parting edge look realistic?
Grazie
Amazing tutorial, thank you. The only issues I faced was the density brush didn't work - only subtracted hairs but didn't add any. And the hair interpolation didn't work for me as it only gave me a few strands of hair in random places. I used the hair duplicate curve instead which worked okay. I'm guessing I had these issues because I was using a full model and not just a head
Density brush not only add hair, also can delete. It depends on your hair distance value. Pls try to decrease ur hair distance.
@@GraphicsMK I'll give that a go! I did notice your model is very big as well so that may also be a factor. Mine is real-world scale
without converting to mesh is there any way to move these hairs with armature
is there anyway to make them dynamic?
Now, if Blender will create a way to make hair cards from this system, that would be great.
You can make hair cards with any particle hair system by using orthographic camera and baking
@@knackepizza2480 I've actually managed to develop a way to make hair cards directly onto a hair mold mesh using the BMesh tool. Just a little more refinement and it ought to be a pretty good method for me.
Hey thank you for the tutorial. but Im abit confused, when I use the model from supplied 12m hair length is huge. any reason why this is?
Pls help. When I changed Viewport Display to strip, the hair looks flat.
Nothin like a hair tutorial in blender, nothin like it
Hi, does anyone know why hair sculpt collision doesn't work?? It's very frustrating...
how to add hair dynamics after creating from 3.5 hair node asset?
Can you render it with using cycles render
if one wanted to export this hair for use in character creator 3/4 or unreal engine. how would one go about doing this. I have created a few hairstyles with the curve system. I am confused on how to export the curves to a mesh.
Great Tutorial... But I can not find a way to import this to CC4 or Daz or anywhere... I can get the head, or partial head if I cut it into "sculp", but the hair is always missing... What is the point if it can't be used anywhere?
any guidance for exporting these as part of a fbx?
WOW, THIS LOOKS INTERESTING AND VERY COMPLICATED LOL, HOW WOULD YOU GO ABOUT DOING THIS WITH A BRAID? LIKE IF U WANT TO MAKE A LOW PONYTAIL BRAID (LIKE I DO) BECAUSE I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND ANY FREE HAIR MESHES THAT DON'T HIDE THE EARS BEHIND SAID HAIR, HOW WOULD U KEEP ONLY A FEW PARTS OF THE HAIR FROM TURNING INTO THE BRAID AND NOT THE OTHER PARTS?
KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING, SORRY IF I'M SOUNDING CONFUSING, I AM NEW TO 3D MODELING FROM SCRATCH/USING PARTICLES AND NODES AND WHATNOT, SO IF ANY OF THIS DIDN'T MAKE SENSE, THEN I'LL TRY TOO EXPLAIN IT BETTER IF I CAN. :)
great tutorial! So, do you know how to export this to character creator 4? Every time I try, CC4 crashes, and when I try to import into Unreal, it fails to import.
when the sculpt collision is on, it won't go through the head as expected but goes through the body.. how do we stop that?
they are 2 different meshes
Isn't there a "PUSH" modifier like in Ornatrix?
This is a quite well done tutorial. However I alawys have the same question: does this hair work well in videogames characters or they are just useful for mannequins?
Thank you.
bro idk why but i put a lot of hair curves and then when I add the interpolate hair curve node I get bald spots in the top. whu would interpolation create bald spots although I added a lot of instance curves
Hello
I don't have a button that prevents hair from entering the mesh.
How to find her ?
Well how do i simulate the hair ?
Excelente! se le puede dar dinámica a ese cabello?
For now, the new hair system doesn't support hair dynamics. But they try to improve. Maybe we can convert it to a particle system and enable the hair dynamics.
hey my settings are super messed up what i try to do things. my sculpt mode is slow, and all my modifiers have to be moved in super small units or else it will go crazy. did I forget to apply to scale or something?
can u please make avideo on how to simulate this hair with an animated character?
when i was doing , it was showing an error uv map not defined. why?? i did same as you but getting that result, why?? plz reply
how to do animation in this hair system?
Loved it but I can not for the life of me figure out how the heck to turn off collision. The setting is missing for me in blender.
What am I doing wrong if when I add the first hair it comes out totally different from the one in the video and then when I try to add modifiers it does not behave the right way
Set the hair size to ... 12 neters. Dude, an always good 3D reflex is to work with a scale that makes sense.
good, i think this tutorial is best startpoint for New hair system.
but, seems have some bug in blender, when i follow the step in put "guild hair" on it, this will generate new hair rather than only change the current hair, but try sometimes...this bug gone..i don't know why this happened even it happened.
Help why does it say invalid UV map: UV islands must not overlap. How do I fix this? My model doesn’t have a Uv map and idk how to add one.
So how to export them to unreal engine as hair
this hair is possible to rig ?
Excuse me I'm trying to follow along but oh my god when i use the curl guide the stand is HUGE bigger than the head and the settings dont seem to make it smaller
why the fair strands are so thick in my model?
bro everything is fine. but how to move the hair. I mean when a wint hit..or the character move the realtime physics of the hair , how to move it ?
I have completed it but I am unsure of how to put it onto my sims in blender, would you know how I could do that? I have thought of one way but it would mean for me to start all over again and I'd rather not at the moment but if there's no way then I will for sure do it again
The only way to add it in a way that will make it work with your sim would be to add in onto the sim itself, which means starting over again with minor adjustments to the tutorial, sorry
how to import it in unreal engine ?
what about hair dynamic?
link for add on
I made a UV map, did the density brush and it only adds one curve that is SUPER long. When I use the add brush it does what you show. Was there an error in the density vs add?
Pls check ur density brush settings. Maybe the number of curve to 1 and length value too much.
@@GraphicsMK I set it how you said but will take a look at it
I found that his scaling is out of whack. If your model is a properly scaled human being his values are way too much. If you set the Distance Min value to 0.2 meters then every curve will be 20 cm apart and that results in only ONE appearing on a properly sized human head.
Is there a way to convert this into a mesh?
Did you ever find out how to do this?
I have the collisions option (3.5) but it doesn't work!! Hair merge into the mesh the same!! 😱
Voice change editing tutorial.. Please
my only thing is I don't have the collision option on the top right. can I somehow toggle it?
Did you find it? I have the same problem
@@Fslntwelve nope
What version are you using? This tutorial is for SPECIFICALLY 3.5, since that’s where all the assets (and more importantly the collusion toggle 🥳) are
@@drippycity4135 thank you!! i updated to 3.5. it appears now
The collision Option shown at 2:38 only works when your model is like 20 meters across like in this demo. with more realistic dimensions its useless and you better use the shrinkwrap modifier.
I have problems with the density, instead a bunch of hairs it just give me a few
