I found out about KIMBO because it's owner parked in our local YMCA... He lives there and is an employee! Stealth is how you see it. I am now in the rabbit hole of KIMBO slide in truck campers and I am putting my condo on the market because I am sold on this type of lifestyle for a few years.
A good spot is a casino parking lot. There are usually lots of RVs parked there. Plus they may have a decent buffet so you won't have to cook. Most open 24/7.
Tahoe local here! You're probably gone already, but if not or for the future if you want to offroad camp hit Johnson Lane in Minden about 45 minutes from Reno. Hundreds of miles of BLM land, truck friendly, camp literally anywhere. And in the morning you're like half an hour drive to Tahoe. Enjoy our little corner of paradise!
As a truck driver most truck stops have vans/cars people parking and sleeping. Just don't take a semi truck spot. Honestly most rest areas across the country are safe and monitored on occasion by highway patrol some even have security.
I completely agree with you on being able to protect yourself when needed Thanks for the insites you gave I've thought about doing stealth camping before and not done so yet Your tips with help me once I do
Drove from the Texas panhandle to Indianapolis in a Lincoln Towncar to watch a car race. 950 miles in one day was ridiculous, but Lincoln made one hell of a comfortable car.
Check out California Sno-Parks. Season pass is $40. There's quite a few around Tahoe. I'll be in the area on 3/2 with my Kimbo for over a week. Road tripping ski season. Hit me up if want to ski.
Just saw your video last night. Love your channel, been watching for years. We live in Reno and have a campervan. It would have been great to connect. Have fun in Tahoe!
I have a pop up truck camper, if it's hot out, I was thinking truck stops so I can run my Honda with my window air. Never tried it yet, but if semi's can run reafers all night, then I'm sure a 50 decibel Gen under the truck shouldn't be a problem.
As always, good video. Been following since you lived down here in Florida and I don't think you've ever mentioned your fitness/workout regimen, likes, dislikes etc. Obviously not worthy of an entire video but maybe you could touch on nomad fitness in some video in the future 🤙🏻
So this could be me overthinking.. but since you’re in the Kimbo, is there another means of egress in case someone were to close the tailgate and swing out?
If you FedEx wrap the Storyteller you should be able to stealth camp it. But seriously, what are your thoughts on hitting a state park en route since the Kimbo setup is not so stealthy?
Yeah, .. I've Done This Stuff For Decades.. Stealth Is Not Easy In A Vehicle Like That.. I Agree With A Lot Of It.. But, Any Stealth Starts With A Vehicle That Don't Stand Out.. If The Vehicle Dont Blend In To The Surroundings.. You Have No Stealth..
That journey sounds stressful! Could you not have found a reststop between Salt Lake City and Reno? What about finding something on an app like iOverlander?
You can reach out the window and drop the tailgate back down. Most people don’t have swing outs but if someone close my tailgate and swing I would use one of the 2 big windows.
I'm laughing at the start of the video. The Kimbo is anything but stealth. Ha ha ha. Glad to see you back in the Taco with the Kimbo.

That is a lot of miles in one day! I once did a 14 hour day, about 900 miles, towing a RV. I was spent.

I'll be by shortly to close your tailgate. You're welcome. 😉
I can still open it from inside or crawl out through the window… and then I will find you 🥷
@@TalonSei He probably lives east of Denver in Kansarado. 😅

I would totally have a camera system with a intercom

@@TalonSei I guess I didn’t think they could open all the way 😂 thank you

Yea 80 west of 81 in pa is a snoozefest
Can you get out if someone puts your tailgate up?
I never thought about it but can you get out if someone closed your tailgate when you are inside?
Yes, he can crawl through the window above the bed
1. A truck stop..2. Walmart parking lot.3. A 24 hr restaurant..i just ask if i can park overnight..99% of the time..its ok
Dude what happened to the podcast ? 😂😆
If you made a channel dedicated only to Kimbo videos I would subscribe.
Reno … should have crashed a Trent’s place … he should’ve had some land for the Kimbo ..
I bet he has some great stories about the Russian OMAN. I Watched a video of them catching a black market sturgeon operation.
I live in Cheyenne. I-80 to Utah sucks
Kansas doesn’t need anymore flat land lol Colorado can keep it we already flatter than a crape
😂
How Can Stealth Camping Be Achieved In A Vehicle That Stands Out Like A Sore Thumb.??
This video explains it

I passed a bunch but was eager to get to Reno so I could relax until Saturday
The Kimbo psychologically says 2nd Amendment. Not a bad thing.
🤙

Never got a Rollie stuffs and things 😂
How do you get out if some asshole closes your tailgate? That would stress me out.

Man that’s good to know that you have a way out! Thanks for putting my mind at ease 😂.
Please keep your hands on the wheel. It’s freaking me out 😮
How da hell you call camping in that thing Stealthy LOL Kidding but not kidding.

So much nicer to just pay for an Rv park
But why
@@calci2679 less stress and a better nights sleep. If you’re in your 20s you won’t understand.
