Great project, great build but I'm sorry the graphics absolutely ruined it and made it look like something a chav with a few grand in his back pocket would have done via a trip to Halfords. It would have looked far more credible if you'd had themed it in the Mitsubishi Ralliart logos.
Ironically Mike hates OE and aftermarket parts, that he finds in the cars, he buys (most very expensive and tasteful) and yet he puts an horrible wrap, It reminds me like the RX7 FD from years ago.

At least Ed added properly modifications, (as always) with new intercooler and supporting mods, after increasing the boost at the remap shop. I remember when Mike removed the set of Nismo lmgt2's,(OE wheels) from that red 300ZX Z32, and the watanabe RS's from the RX7 FB, also Ant removed the blowoff valve from the Mitsu GTO VR4, and those nice Work wheels what a joke.
Right, nice teaser, cutting out almost all of Elvis rebuilding that engine. I'd cherish that car, most certainly not spend £2K on the shoddy stickers. There is value in this car, come on guys, be more serious..

Love my totally rebuilt Evo Vlll withe the 4G63. That's a good looking car with the Blue by You color. Too bad the graphics make it look like a cheap knockoff, when it's the real thing. Great fun to drive and that feeling when you drop down a gear and power slide out of the corner.
Typically if and engine is disassembled enough to remove the crank, the engine gets a quick hone and a new set of piston rings. I'm fairly certain 4G63T pistons rings are that expensive anyway. You don't have to get full price rings from the stealership. NPR makes a lot of OEM rings for Japanese cars and they cost less than dealer price. 6:26 I didn't expect someone in the UK to be using a measuring tool in inches. The country went metric ages ago. In the USA, many people use a tool that measures inches because they were left over from when cars weren't metric. Good measuring tools cost a lot of money, so using conversions on metric engines made sense. I'm glad to see the name "Mitutoyo" on the micrometer. Cheap precision measuring tools usually aren't accurate. 8:00 You have to take a second measurement after polishing. If it's good, then you can move on. If not, the first undersize for a 4g63T crank is -.25mm 8:56 AYC pumps are very expensive. However, if your core is decent, some specialists can rebuild them.
That's because..........they are a faff to all undo and usually the sump is stuck. So....... quickly showing us him turning the engine over on the stand with a bolt still in to hold the sump, then undoing a sump bolt and lifting the sump straight off is a better clip and shorter than showing him undoing all the bolts, prising the sump off.......its TV dude.
There is a better chemistry between these two than mechanics before, life past Ed that is. I’m surprised at the body wrap cost and result. Did the wrap include a paint correction? The car does seem more bright.
The wrap cost more than the replacement engine and dampers combined, that seems like a pricey thing to add that may not be worth it on a car you are selling.
That colour scheme makes it look like someone with no taste ram raided the local Halfords - instead of adding nearly two grand to the price I’d be wanting a two thousand pound discount to help pay to have it removed and the paint corrected.🤦♂️

Every boy racers dream when it was rallying in the wrc. That gold graphics in the fast and the furious ruined it. If u gonna stick graphics on it least make it look like a rally replica imo
UK evos start as JDM cars with JDM vin numbers and were imported and converted by CCC rather than Mitsubishi. Also the best Evos like the FQ 400, FQ 360, and FQ 440 were all UK only models......even though they were converted from a JDM base car
I went to see a yellow Evo VII for sale round the corner from where I live, the dealer wanted 15k for it. It was an utter wreck. Rust on every panel, needed paint on every panel, it lived by the sea most of its life unfortunately. Mike did well to find this one in good condition bodywise. The engines aren't really that hard to get hold of, body panels however, especially the chassis parts are getting very hard to source.
The car is going to sell to someone that has the boy racer feeling still or a fast and furious enthusiast either way the other two guys never did the work that Elvis does. They have all brought something different to the table I would love to see an episode where they all come back

Don't know why, but over the years the mechanical scenes in Wheeler Dealers gets more inferior to the 'commercial concept' of the show. Too bad. I switch to the RUclips channel of Edd China's Workshop Diaries.
A rod out of a block usually indicates a high torque output from the engine. I'd imagine that car was remapped beyond what the toothpick factory rods could handle. Not to mention the amount of idiots that put the "pops and bangs" maps on that do the engine no favours. No mention of the turbo that would have had all that swarf pass through it either.
@@patrickdixon4945 bottom end swarf will have contaminated the oil and without any question of a doubt. It would have been drawn up the strainer and pushed through the oil feed pipe into the turbo. You would never get bottom end contaminants through the exhaust side of a turbo, unless a piston had broken up
read his book. Lots of details how he got the role, his rise through the ranks, crazy stories with Kimi and overall a fun read and highly recommended. I think the book is called "The Mechanic: The Secret World of the F1 Pitlane"
