He is just the best blues guitar player .. all greatest blues musicians know that. So much expression thru the guitar, it's like a extension of himself telling us a story. Nobody else can do that as well
I've been a huge fan of BB King for years and I do believe this particular piece is the best I've ever heard him play,, from another musician born on Hwy 61 and in the Mississippi Delta ! Guess that's why they call me Delta Slim.
One note just tears my soul out...This is how you play the guitar folks... Let your soul sing though the instrument... It's the hardest thing to do...it's easy to play fast scales...it's very hard to know your soul and then to go on stage and share it with people...to let them know how you feel...when honestly most of them don't give a shit how you feel...they just want the show...
every note I wanted to hear, and a whole lot of them I didn't know I wanted to hear but when I heard them, there was no other note that could have worked near as well.
I think the trick to playing amazing guitar isn't good practice... Just knowing how to make those EPIC facial expressions whilst jamming. All the best guitarists know how to do it, once you've got that down you become a legend.
@gbluesrocker I agree, I understand if people like the popular music today. But if your not in a club and your just relaxing enjoying some good music I don't think theres anything that beats this
BB stands for Big Boy which was the name he went by as a busker on the sidewalks and later the bars of Memphis. He and Elvis new each other and if you ever want to downplay Elvis look up BB's remarks. I saw an interview years after Elvis had passed and BB's interlocuter assumed to "know" that Elvis was a racist. BB is generally a very laid back man and he was angered by the question. BB is also a well known ladies man as well as the top blues artist in the modern era I saw him play and Buddy Rich shared the bill.
i read once i believe in rolling stone- "the blues had a baby and they named it rock and roll". to me i love all genres- but it all comes down tot he blues-- not the watered down white boy crap- but real blues- pinetop perkins leadbelly.. the likes of those.
