Cool demo - awesome playing man - I think the 57's sound meaner and tighter... dig - about to put them in an SG - thanks for the helping on the decision!
I’ve always been stuck between wether or not I should get a high output pickup like the Ragnarok for my 7 strings, or if I should try to aim for a low output humbucker so I can crank the gain on the amplifier and get to the amount of gain I want from an amplifier without going overboard with the gain as easily as with higher output pickups. I play through a Randall RG300 solid state head that gets more than plenty of headroom when it comes to distorted guitar tones. I can definitely get away with using higher output pickups with that amp, and because solid state amps don’t rely as much on being pushed to get as saturated as they do, I definitely think a lower output pickup would breathe life into an amp like that. The Bare Knuckle Black Dog I’ve heard is an excellent lower output pickup that makes it a lot easier to play Metal and high gain guitar riffs than a regular stock pickup.
I was playing with that idea when I got the ragnarok to be fair, but fell for the Brute-ish feel of the rags. I have a set of brute force that are ready to be installed into this guitar right now! I'm really excited to hear those in this guitar! I'll drop a link here when I have some clips of those ⚡
Fantastic riffs. Gorgeous stuff. How do you find the dynamics on the Ragnarok? I've never used a hot ceramic pickup before. Do you get decent dynamics between hard and soft picking or is everything smashed to the same level because the pickup is so hot? Thanks. Never heard your stuff before. Great playing.
Thank you ever so much! That means the world! I honestly love them! My roots are in blues, so I need something that's quite touch sensitive. The Ragnarok it surprisingly dynamic! I a full set in my PRS and they're a dream too! You can find that video if you search 'Connor Botherway-Hill Bare Knuckle Pickups', that might give you a better idea of their scope, as I've gotten a lot better at recording than I was here haha 😊 thankyou so much for your comment
Personally,I think the Ragnarok is a better all-rounder. But that's subjective I guess. It feels a much easier pickup to play; you hit the sweet spot with much less vigour! but the cleans! THEY'RE SO MUCH BETTER! The clarity is insane too! I really cant wait to load my PRS with a set!
@@conbotherwayhill I play a lot of classic prog. Like Zappa, Pink Floyd, etc. I kind of think they may do controlled feedback like Zappa used pretty nicely for example, and the overtones on the clean demos sound very intriguing too.
@@shred5 Honestly they would e perfect! Please let me know what you decide on! instagram.com/p/BxvNu72FOS5/? Here's another examle of some clean tones I got from them!
I’m a bit nervous: i’ve bought a true grit pickup which turned out to be Ragnarok (second hand). I’ve decided to still go with it, but this guitar was my go-to for crunch and alternative and not for deathcore and stuff. Your video calmed me a bit, thanks
Not much of a difference, great demo ! could help but noticed that you are using a .88 pick, personally ive changed that pick for 0.5 and clarity improves a lot
I just have to thank you for making the *least tedious* pickup comparison video I've ever watched. 100 times, thank you.
Wow! Thank you so much! That means the world to me!
@@conbotherwayhill You did it the right way, man. No bullshit, no peacocking, good cuts. It's perfect. And you've got good style, too.
I loved the Ragnarok pick ups... I am getting some for my guitar too...

Thankyou much, Dude! I'm so glad it helped you out! Both sets are incredible, so you'll be in safe hands whichever you settle on.

Damn that open note at 0:31 sounded massive
Haha cheers bro! ⚡⚡⚡
Nice demo - Have you tried (or think about) Juggernaut pick, also? Will you change also neck pick in future?

Is it just me or is the Classic 57 + better with gain and the Ragnarok better clean?

@@shred5 Great! I'm a big blues guy, and love ambient prog, and it covers all my bases very easily!

Here's another examle of some clean tones I got from them!
Good 👍🏼, randomly got here. But like it
Ragnarok in the bridge Irish tours in the middle and neck..
Nice combo!⭐

Honestly, these pickups are so good for low gain stuff! I use them exclusively for pushed cleans/ AC DC tones now ⚡
@@conbotherwayhill thanks a lot, Friend! Your recent pickup demos are amazing

That Tremonti shirt 😍
You know! Only the best lol
is 57 really this much boomier?
Yeah, it's a far looser pickup! That's not to say the Ragnarok can't do calmer tones though. I'm glad I made the swap!
Cool.
Cheers Dude!
rad as shit
I dunno.....
My ears say the 57 is better.
gibson 57 classic + sound better
