    The Eastman sounds like an actual “old” guitar. Hard to explain but it seems like guitars made back in the day will “age” into that special tone. I’ve got an SB-59GB....it sounds genuinely old, but powerful. (The SB59-V with the Lollar Imperials, even more so!). Always in tune.....(LP trick, when you string the unwound “G B E” strings, make sure the winds stack “up” the peg. Reduces angle over the nut...makes a difference!!). Stays in tune. Part of theEastman sound is, I believe, that the bridge posts, screw right into the wood, (really good wood), not into inserts, like an original 59 LP.

    The Knaggs is insane, goes from clean like a tele/piano to even beyond the les paul's level of crunch. Clearly the best.

    I own an Eastman SB59/v and it sounds about as close to an actual old '59 as you can get... closer even than a Custom Shop R9. The Eastmans just have this old wood, played-in feel and tone to them.

    I love Gibson Les Paul Guitars and all my 'heroes' played Les Pauls too but the PRS is superb and the guitar to buy - especially online without trying first - as their quality is incredibly consistent and uniform - unlike Gibson. I own a 594 myself - the Doublecut version because its more 'PRS' in body shape and I wanted it to be 'different' to a Les Paul 'clone' visually.
    There is something 'special' to Gibson's tone and if you find a great one, its worth buying. I do think a PRS though is better to live with and use consistently - thanks to a better headstock angle and also has better hardware and nut to improve the sustain, the stability and performance all over the neck and regardless of string. The only issue is that Gibson have the history, the artists and their recordings and as such will probably be a better investment long term. People will want the Gibson because its iconic and their heroes played them too...

    • @donharrold1375
      @donharrold1375 4 года назад

      dstateswimmer In this review the PRS. I own both a Les Paul and a PRS singlecut. Both guitars are great and I move back and forth between them regularly. The PRS has a more modern vibe. They sound quite similar. Bear in mind that the eventual sound is a product of the whole signal chain. Amplifiers make a massive difference and overall are probably more influential on the sound than the guitar construction or the pickups I'd say. If you go for a Gibson try to play before you buy, so you can make sure that there are no serious quality issues. PRS is low risk via the internet.

    That PRS, being played on the left, will eat that Gibson for lunch. No comparison between the two, other than the fact that they are both single cut guitars. Gibson has halfass quality control. Their workers don't take pride in the instruments they build..PRS has impeccable quality control, and they don't halfass anything. They take Old School Pride in their quality of building guitars. Nothing is Ever halfassed, or looked over with PRS Guitars. PRS USA Tremonti Singlecut Guitars, and PRS USA McCarty SC 594 are the way to go. PRS lowend guitars, not made in the USA are better quality than some of the American Made Gibsons..Gibson has No Excuse, other than not giving a fuck, lazy, and a halfass work ethic. Period. Heritage Guitars, and Eastman Guitars, are also a hell of alot better made than Gibson. Markey Boy better get his ass to work, and start getting the Factory Guitar Builders Mind's Right. Anybody that lets a newly built guitar leave the factory, with even 1 flaw on it, that was Ignored, not Overlooked (there's a big difference) Should Be Terminated On The Spot. No Exceptions. I hope you hear about my Comment, Mark Agnessi. You want my business? Quit letting your employees half ass things, and take shortcuts, and I will give you my business. If I choose to buy a guitar from Gibson, the Quality Control Best Be Impeccable, Without a Single Flaw, and The Guitar Best Stay In Tune. If other guitar companies can make singlecut guitars that stay in tune, So Can Gibson. I don't wanna hear any apologies or excuses. Do It Right The First Time. With the outrageous prices y'all charge your customers, The Guitars That Get Sent Out To Stores Best Be 100%! Capiche, Paison? If not, let me know, and I'll send Uncle Salvatore and his Boys, over at the social club on the corner to deal with Youse. Period! In LaCosa Nostra We Trust! Don't break the Oath or Creed! Capiche?
