Thanks, man, I got some other cool stuff coming. Bunch of pickup stuffs, some pedals and whenever my evh 5153 stealth 50 shows up I have something planned for that.
@@MetalHeadProductions that is just so cool the evh 5150 III stealth is like my favorite amp and no one has made a video on a 50 watt didn't even know they had it
I hear through my Iconnectivity interface and my DT 770 pro 80 ohm headset and the sound of the SD Nazgul is fuller with rich midrange and lots of clarity. The Rangnarok are sounding a bit (very slightly but noticeable) thin with lot of note definition and clarity but that might be due to the compression of youtube??? I really didn't expect that... but that is what I hear. Both pu's I believe are top picks. The choice is a matter of personal preference.
These are my favorite pickups. I didnt know that they were till I realized that the schecter I was playing on was the guitar I've been leaning on. I've got a decent amount of other puckups but these are my favorite. Im curious about the Fishman Fluence and the BK Ceramic War Pigs. Love your channel man!
I have a set of Fluence moderns on my solar... swapping them out for the ragnaroks. The Fluence moderns sound okay but honestly the bkp ragnaroks kill them in every way possible! I'd say go with the warpigs over the fluence, if you already own the ragnaroks!
nice video exactly what I was looking for and on a solar guitar. I am looking to swap out my duncan solars on my Solar S1.7PB and was looking at those pickups. Was the installation easy for the BKP? would you put a ragnarok at the neck as well or go for one of their other models for more versatility? I play metal/heavy metal most of the times. Keep up the good work :)
I actually like the Nazgûl better. Those upper mid cuts and attenuated attack make it more versatile in my opinion. Combined with a Sentient neck for warm cleans (try and emulate a piezo with it, it's fairly easy to pull off with Neural DSP Plini and Petrucci), it's a great stock combo on many Mayones Regius guitars.
These are probably the two best pickups for real heavy modern metal. I generally prefer the Ragnarok for its absolutely massive sound and surprisingly good cleans and coil splits but prefer for playing thrash. But there are some variants of metal where the Ragnarok's sound is just too big but the Nazgul is a solid choice.
@@edwin71TOR Yeah, it just has a lot of bass and low mids, a real thick and meaty sound. If you are playing really fast prog death metal for example, it's not a great choice. The Juggernaut (Misha Mansoor's other sig model) is good for that stuff.
@@edwin71TOR nazgul sounds a lot chunkier and focused, with rag you need to tune really low to get the goods. By goods I mean a very nasty distortion decay of downtuned power chords probably not found anywhere else. Your guitar should do the heavy lifting, otherwise it sounds thin and mushy with tons of useless output. There is a very illustrative comparison between the two on ytube, bear something dude tries to decide which one to keep.
Metalhead Productions : Thanks for letting me know - Ive been thinking about trying them and your demo really helped out. I dont hink there has to be anything at the end either and I like your format
I prefer the Ragnarok, no question. They work for, I like the output and voicing better. The juggernauts can be a bit weird and nasal sounding for a lot of people, my self included.
@@MetalHeadProductions thanks for the reply man! I am definitely leaning towards the Ragnaroks at the moment. I currently have black winters in my main 7 string and I'm kinda hoping the Ragnaroks will be similar in aggression but maybe with some added clarity and a bit more top end.
@@MetalHeadProductions Ah, I misunderstood. When the video was titled comparison I assumed the whole song was going back and forth. Only the isolated clips at the end makes sense. Thanks!
Nice comparison dude. The difference is night and day. The Ragnaroks really are delivering a surprising amount of upper mid detail, much more than I would have thought given the EQ profile on the BKP website. I would have thought they would have had the thick low mid character of the Juggernaughts which, for me, just doesn't work for the 8 strings I play. But these just might. Can you recall what your amp settings were? Did you have the mids, treble and presence dialled up?
Yeah, I always slightly boost the treb and mids, and slightly cut the bass. like the treb and mid sit around 1 or 2 o'clock and the bass around 10 o'clock. nothing major. I was surprised too about the upper mids. the tone profile has to just be reffering to high end, like the more fizzy frequencies, cause these are cutting, detailed, bright, but smooth with no upper end harshness at all.
Metalhead Productions in that case they definitely make it into my potential pick up selection. I was focused on the Aftermath or Painkillers but these could be an option.
@@MetalHeadProductions , love your videos. I can't decide between Ragnarok and Fishman Keith Merrow. For a live tone with glassy cleans and a brutal metal tone through a Fortin or 6505, which one would be your choice?
Massively different really. Love the 7 string Ragnarok, aggressive, saturated nicely, really full sounding, just lots of output. The fortitude is really low output, much more like a paf with more top end cut. I probably wouldn't really use the fortitude for death metal.
The difference between the Nazgûl and BKPs becomes extremely apparent in bass-range downtuning. The Nazgûls are almost unusable muddy when making chords in that range, which is a bummer because their fuzziness makes for some extremely cool wall-of-sound tones. Pro recording tip… layer guitars using both of these pickups for fucking stupid tone
Talk talk talk talk. I didn’t hear anywhere how to determine which was which in the full mix. All your videos have way too much talking and not enough substance.
love the tone community, never thought i’d find the exact video i needed to compare these two!!
great video. really want to know differents betwee nazgul and aftermath

I just ordered a Ragnarok, how is BKP's turn around time on an order? The email said building takes 10 days and I'm so hyped I can't wait.
I just ordered one, and it took about a week to arrive at my door
Came for the pickups, stayed for the Solar ❤️
I could def hear the difference and prefer the Ragnorak. Where did u order them from plz?
BTW it cracks me up how u end videos without a wrap up 👍🏻

It's hotter and has more midrange for sure. I actually prefer the Ragnarok to the miracle man.
