It is not known as the "LAX Loop" rather it is known as the "LAX Horseshoe". Also, LAX is not known as "The LAX" it is known simply as LAX. Horrible AI video. As mentioned below, the bridge shown at 7:00 has nothing to do with connecting the terminals. The entire presentation of TBIT and MSC are not entirely accurate and misleading that I am not going to waste my time getting into.
@@cblord5 Yes, EXACTLY Los Angeles International AIRPORT. You don't say Los Angeles International Airport Airport. You agree with me, but decided to be a troll about it.
I was in Paris for the Olympics. Ironically, the airport and city were less crowded than usual. Many Parisians left, fearing crowds and traffic. And other tourists kept away for the same reasons. In all my years in Paris, I have never seen it so calm and uncrowded. A Parisian told me it almost felt like Covid. Many streets were closed to traffic and people were able to get around by Metro. So, perhaps, the upgrades at LAX won't be necessary for the Olympics - but they will be nice to have for the future.
I was at the Olympics as well and I would say the same thing a lot of the area around the airport as well as just going through the city was not as crazy as I would think it would be I really enjoyed going to the parks and I even went outside of Paris to other cities and it was even more quiet😃😁😅
I work there. We are getting a massive new T1 next year. There is no room for expansion. My guess is they will build up the satellite airports like Carlsbad and Otay Mesa in the future. Not to mention the massive Miramar AFB that sits on prime real estate if the Fed ever gives it up.
@MikeCalifornia that drove me nuts also. Got to reserve those definite articles for freeways. As in the sentence, "You'll find LAX near the 405 and the 105."
7:00. The bridge depicted in that shot has nothing whatsoever to do with connecting T1 and T2 (post-security). That landslide bridge connects the automatic people mover (inside the Horseshoe) to the terminal (across the Horseshoe road). The point of the unseen bridge project: connecting T1 and T2 is a portion of a larger project to make every terminal connect to its neighbors airside so that passengers can change terminals without leaving security. That goal reflects the purpose of the video: the previously discrete terminals at LAX will, when this project finishes, all be connected post security.
@chrthewrestler2301 But it's gotten better in the last few years. Everyone I've talked to says the worst part now is getting to LAX or leaving it, and not actually navigating and using the airport.
"Millions of game lovers will descend upon the City of Angels." Millions. Really? Don't you think that's a bit of an exaggeration? There's no way any city can accommodate millions of new visitors at once. L.A. will have a lot of visitors, but it won't be millions. If we compare it to 1984, probably most people attending events will be people who live in the area. Hearing your AI video describe the airport as "The LAX" is irritating. Nobody calls the airport "The LAX." Also, the construction you're referring to has been going on for years, and much has been finished long before this video. It's not something new, but you're referring to it like it's coming soon although it already exists. The construction would be happening regardless of the Olympics. The Olympics is a short-term event. Los Angeles will be around until the end of civilization. Other stuff: That isn't a bridge between Terminals 1 and 2 (7:00). There's in no bridge but a new walkway. That bridge looks like the one going to Sky Link (the name for the people mover).
I agree with your comment, but it could be millions. Remember, that LA is hosting both the Olympics and Para Olympics. In Paris, there were 15,000 athletes between the two events and LA will have more sports. Paris also sold 12 million tickets for sporting events. And it's busiest single day saw almost 700,000 people attend various events. Lastly, you'll probably have many more Americans attend since the USA has a much bigger population. And LA County has a population that's 5x bigger than Paris. Millions is very probable.
SO, this didn't answer anything. How the hell do you get the people to the airport without any cars and what do you do with the cars that are coming to the airport. Taking the Metro which has homeless people and people with mental problems isn't the solution. Every weekend I see the 105 freeway backed up with traffic heading to LAX. The metro should have gone underground and into the terminal area and made a few stops at the terminals before swinging out of the terminal area. AND what about people coming from the valley? There's no Metro for them and in other area too.
Los Angeles is ready to host the Olympics each and every time. We have the infrastructure and the money to host the games and most importantly… LA can make a profit!!!!
LAX is even unable to maintain the current infrastructure. The other day, none of the elevators in Parking Structure #2 was working. People had to carry their luggage up/down via the stairwell :-(
A dumb comment from an idiot that doesn't live in California. We can spend in the billions we have the money for it unlike these states with midget economies.
Los Angeles will be one of the host cities for the 2026 World Cup in almost 2 years. So I’d say they have an even shorter time frame to complete their projects.
Most of the LAX terminal renovation projects are already done. The APM will open in January 2026 which will be the last major project to be completed. So LAX should be ready for the World Cup in June 2026.
The airport is slowly getting better but is still small for the number of planes getting there. The propble is that is next to the sea and can't expand
While much of this video is accurate, there are some errors. The Midfield Satellite Concourse was created in 2 parts: The West Gates at Tom Bradley and the South Concourse. Only 1 carousel was added to Tom Bradley Terminal for the addition of over 15 additional gates. Other baggage claims were built in Terminal 1 which is connected by a bus gate. Tom Bradley is widely crammed and has inadequate arrival space for International and domestic operations. While LAX is challenging, there will be improvements with the APM. But passengers will always be upset by the unique ticket counter setup for LAX. 7 terminals have International access…not just 1.
@chrthewrestler2301 LAX's design was lauded when it first opened the horseshoe design. The design of the terminals was based on having the shortest distance from being dropped off at the curb in front of the terminal to boarding the plane. It was so efficient and modern at the time, it became hugely popular very quickly, too quickly. What they didn't forsee is the need to expand so soon. Much sooner than anyone expected. And they've been playing catch-up ever since. Then, 911 happened, and the idea of having the shortest distance between arriving and getting on the plane worked against the new security requirements. The construction of the upper deck of the horseshoe and the TBIT for the 1984 Olympics helped tremendously. But, again, it was too successful for its own good. The current expansion/renovation has been going on for several years, and it will once again improve LAX. For how long, we'll see.
With the exception of Bradley all the gates at LAX are easily accessible from transportation. Few airports can make that claim. The problem has always been getting in and out of the airport. One stalled car or accident at Terminal 6 or 7 locks-up the entire facility. The long overdue people mover will do much to relieve that congestion.
Very true. And it's been better since they stopped allowing cars to pickup people at the inside sidewalk. Picking up people on the outer sidewalk has improved traffic.
For anyone trying to travel as a tourist here, yes LAX is the worst. Trying to find a Uber or any public transit is the worst. If someone is picking you up it's not as bad.
I disagree with your comment at 0:17. There is no sudden increase. It is just that we do not, or are very slow to, build for growth. LAX should have been constantly expanded since 1984, but that had not happen for decades. Pudong airport in Shanghai was opened in 1999 (25 years ago) with 1 terminal and 1 runway, now it has 5 runways and 3 terminal buildings that provide more than 4 times the space of the original terminal. They just announced another expansion that, by 2028, terminal space will be increased by another 44%. It is stunningly sad how anti-development Americans are these days.
Los Angeles is not anti-development. LAX has been getting upgraded for many years since 1984. For example, the new Tom Bradley terminal was completed in 2013. There is a couple of airports near L.A. (Burbank and John Wayne). Wonder why not utilize those two airports to ease LAX during olympics. And hopefully I'll get a new job by then as my office is so near downtown and the stadium.ugh!
@mrxman581 I agree that most international travelers will fly directly to LA, and that will be LAX by default. (Almost by default: I wager ONT doubles its international traffic numbers from 2024 in 2026. LAX is not now and will not be during the Olympics, a monopoly.) Some of those international tourists, however, will clear customs at other US airports and connect on domestic service. Some of that number will [perhaps to their own surprise] connect to other than LAX. But the number of domestic tourists flying to California is likely to outpace international travelers. And many of those will find their way to the other airports. This thread doesn't argue the other airports will be more important than LAX. Our point is that the video misrepresents LAX as needing to absorb all those travelers by itself..
Given, according to your video, that LAX with 75 million passenger volume per year, 8th busiest in the world, is planned to have a SINGLE APM - airport people-mover stop to connect to the Los Angeles' rail transit network appears to be grossly inadequate, especially for the forthcoming Olympic events for the city to host in 2028. AND to note the number passengers who alight from the AI-generated simulation of the API "train", one wonders how many seats will be designed into each coach of the planned people-mover?
Each APM train will have 4 cars with a total of 200 passenger capacity with luggage. It will be fully automated and run every 2 minutes during peak hours, 24/7 365 days a year.
@tomhwm913 Yes, but the APM will have people getting on and off at the 6 stations. It will take 10 minutes to traverse the 2 mile route. Even if people have to wait for the next train, it will be a huge improvement over the current situation where it can take an hour or more just to go around the loop. And 250 capacity if just the official number. We all know that people can squeeze in more when super busy
That's only for the e line, which is one of the most used lines but somehow doesn't have grade crossings??? The K line has grade crossing and really good priority signal
@AJPJElias The E line is grade separated along many sections of the route. However, in certain areas of LA and East LA it doesn't have signal prioritization. Unfortunately, it's not up to LA Metro. That authority belongs to LADOT. Hopefully, the pressure of the coming World Cup and Olympics will finally convince LADOT to allow complete signal prioritization for both the E and A lines.
Not true. You've obviously have never ridden the K line. Many of its stations are completely grade separated. Three of them are underground as is the line. And the C line is completely grade separated and has a top speed of 65 mph. It will also connect to the APM.
Agreed. To my knowledge, LAX has NEVER been known as, or called "the LAX". While many (most?) southern California residents refer to the freeways/interstate highways as "the 10", or "the 405", etc. NO ONE there refers to the city's main airport as "the LAX". I've been flying to and from LAX for 50 years and have never, ever heard it referred to with that phrase. Do your homework and stop insulting your viewers!!
Re: 3BN for an APM. To expand upon your comment, $3 billion for an APM line with A SINGLE STOP to connect with LA's rail transit network appears to be a great amount of funding for a grossly inadequate design, especially with respect to major future events such as World Cup and 2028 Olympics.
@michaelsmith9590 Yes, it's just one station, but it's a shared station between the K and C lines. The 2 lines go in very different directions, serving more areas than one line. So, it's like having two regular Metro stations. And, there are a total of 6 APM stations allowing passengers multiple ways to arrive or leave LAX, including car rentals, rideshare, pickup, and drop-off by family and friends. And at 3 stations, it will happen outside the horseshoe. That will be transformational.
Ah yes LGA is such a wonderful airport now. EXCEPT, the walk to any gate that used to be 4 minutes is now 25+ and annoying AF, Stop building airports as shopping malls. 90% of people want to get out of them ASAP, not linger for overpriced crap.
Much of the terminal work is being paid by the various airlines that use the terminals. The airport itself with both local and state funding will also help pay for it. I'm sure there is some matching federal funding, too.
I sometimes forget that we're hosting both the World Cup and the Olympics within the next 4 years so the city is really gonna have to get its shit together, especially when we still haven't curbed the problem of widespread homelessness.
LA would moved those homeless people from LA area to near by cities. I have seen a lot of them already in my area even though I live 41 miles from DTLA.
Very little is Federal money. Only some surrounding roadways around the tarmacs and runways and mandated security upgrades (which would be paid regardless of renovations or not). Almost all of it being funded by airport facility and passenger usage fees. Yes, that's why you pay $5 for a bottle of water at an airport.
I drive in and out of LAX several times a week, and none of the $30B worth of “improvements” have actually improved the piss poor airport experience, one scintilla! One MAJOR oversight has been that of traffic ingress & egress… The Airport Planning Commission should have constructed 2 driving tunnels heading East/West from Terminal 3 West to Pershing Blvd (west of LAX property) and from Pershing Blvd, East to Terminal 4. These tunnels would have not only cut the traffic in and out of the airport in half, but it would also have eliminated having to navigate all the rest of the way around the airport roadway (TB, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8) when you are just going to Terminal 3 you could immediately exit the airport west, via the tunnel to Pershing, or Terminal 4, you’d take the tunnel from Pershing East to Terminal 4, and bypass the rest of the airport traffic. Adding those tunnels would also reduce the traffic considerably on the current LAX entrance road, Sepulveda Blvd, which is also a main West-side LA traffic artery for regular North/South rush hour commuter traffic!
8 airports isn't a lot of context. You haven't even been to all three major NYC airports. I've been to 30-40 in the U.S. and I'd have to think about the worst, acknowledging that it's completely subjective and dependent on when one was there.
Throwing huge money into LAX has been like putting "lipstick on a pig". Throughout the years, no vision and no real improvements except making it look pretty. It still sucks and most people do anything possible to avoid it. Luckily, living in Orange County we now have a much improved Long Beach airport in addition to John Wayne. Forced to go up to LAX over the holidays to pick up and drop off my daughter. A horrible experience.
Stupid AI video. It’s nice that the are addressing traffic within LAX but that doesn’t help us that are commuting from the Valley or in my case, Santa Clarita. I make every effort to fly out of Burbank
Gavin new some can made 12 billion disappear he can sur Pocket 30 billion USD US already have 30 trillion in debt waste more money on high speed train.😅
I live in LA and I agree that LAX is the worst airport to fly in/out from. It feels like a 3rd world airport while flying in from other countries in Asia or Middle East
LA has become a dump. Literally and physically. LAX is not the problem. The entire city is the issue. People don't know the current LA. What is going on in LAX has nothing to do with the city. LAX is it's own city. They have their own budget, tax, police fire dept, infrastructure... It remains to be seen what Barbara Bass will do with the street homeless and filth. I would imagine she will call Newsome for a pointer how he got rid of the homeless off the street and replaced them with fake Chises supporters when XX Ping was visiting S.F. LOL. By the way, the homeless came back after XX ping left the city. Bass hasn't done shit since running on and being elected on the street homeless issue. Typ. liberal, politician that's worthless. I would recommend people to stay away. Tickets, restaurants, hotel costs will be outrageous. Traffic will be a nightmare. Not to mention the lack of real competition among real men. Lol.
No, it's opening in January 2026 or maybe sooner. They're already moving the test trains onto the tracks. Testing will start this year. Maybe it already has started.
I wonder the lady mention no car LA!!!! Did she mean people to take the metro who is not safe at all???? First brings the law back against those who break it!!!! And that train “people mover” should be at least five cars instead of two, not bright to move people!!!!
Los Angeles tried to promote more commute but yet its behind on public transportation. The metro line to lax needed to be done decades ago. Trunp was right! We have third world country airports. I flew in from Singapore and you see the difference. Ohh... And the news needs to stop replying old footage every holidays of how packed lax is when it really isnt.
Bradley tunnel to west gates. Wear good walking shoes. Moving sidewalks usually in op. No shuttles. Up and down stairs. And if you are one of the last flights. Escaltors are turned off. Will still be a garbage airport in 28. Just with more people for those 4 weeks.

@@johnmaster3748I can see USA travelers using the smaller airports, but the vast majority of international travelers will use LAX.
I have little faith this project will EVER get finished before 2028.
LAX NEEDS a brand new airport. Not patches over patches
LA is served by 4 airports. It doesn't need a new one just better ones.
The prefabricated midfield concourse will not be a standalone facility. It will be attached to the West gates, extending the length of that concourse.
LaGuardia is a shoebox by comparison to other cities like Washington regan
All Major Airports are Zoo’s No matter what!
Whenever I go to Los Angeles i always go into SNA.
I don't know that airline
@@jimalden9376 SNA is the John Wayne airport in Santa Ana, CA
If you're in south LA county or Orange county, John Wayne or Long Beach. Soutwest fly in LB.
Car-Free atmosphere UNLESS you are rich or pretend to be rich.
Yes and they use a different terminal
8:54 what happened there?
3:38 LMAO these designers really think these small trains running every 2 minutes would be enough to carry all the passengers
Each train is capable of carrying 250 passengers and their luggage. The fully automated train will run 24/7, 365 days a year.
@@mrxman581 Doesn't matter if it runs at 3AM. When it hits the peak, it will be packed
Um yeah that's how trains work and nothing moves people faster or more efficiently than trains😂
@tomhwm913 That's a good thing. Packed trains means less traffic which is the goal😂
The APM connecting with the K line to reduce travel time feels pointless since the metro moves slower than the car traffic at most points
The 2028 games are going to be a Poop-show and an embarrassment for all of the USA, not just Los Angeles.
There is no more room for the airport to taxi and land. So, the delay is still there
If only the people who worked at lax give a damn about anything there
Nice
Thanks for pointing out the common local usage. We will do our best to use language that’s more familiar to local residents.
3BN for an automatic people mover seems like a lot🤔
This state can spend that much on a single portal pottie for homeless...
Compared to what?

Delta airlines terminal doesn’t have enough gate seating all food establishments don’t have enough seating
The AI narration is cheap and stupid. If you can't/won't pay VoiceOver talent to narrate or do it yourself, you don't deserve to be on RUclips.
😂 💀 So true.
Go to istambul and learn how to do a nice airport
Not only worst ranked at LAX, so as the freeway too!
Voiceover sounds fake. Humans don't talk that way.
No car policy for the Olympic lol
🇺🇸 😍😍😍👌💕
I've once taken a subway in LA, and it was the worst transportation experience I've ever had. Some guys forced me to buy weeds and threatened me.
😂😂😂
Who’s paying for this renovation? Last time I checked the Olympics aren’t being played at the airport 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
The airport upgrades are not just for the Olympics. the renovations are much needed and will be beneficial well beyond 2028.
As I've understood, by law income generated by most airports must stay, ie. invested, in that airport.
Much of the terminal work is being paid by the various airlines that use the terminals. The airport itself with both local and state funding will also help pay for it. I'm sure there is some matching federal funding, too.
Those people have traveled all around the world and to every state in the U.S. and they don't know how to get a cab or on a bus?
I sometimes forget that we're hosting both the World Cup and the Olympics within the next 4 years so the city is really gonna have to get its shit together, especially when we still haven't curbed the problem of widespread homelessness.
LA would moved those homeless people from LA area to near by cities. I have seen a lot of them already in my area even though I live 41 miles from DTLA.
@@nathannataatmadja3349There are homeless in just about every neighborhood. They don't all belong to LA. 😂
A lot of this is Federal money. Will L.A. and California get it once Trump is in office???
Very little is Federal money. Only some surrounding roadways around the tarmacs and runways and mandated security upgrades (which would be paid regardless of renovations or not). Almost all of it being funded by airport facility and passenger usage fees. Yes, that's why you pay $5 for a bottle of water at an airport.
CA is biggest state and an economy the size of Germany. Trump and his moron lackies can't touch CA😂
I drive in and out of LAX several times a week, and none of the $30B worth of “improvements” have actually improved the piss poor airport experience, one scintilla! One MAJOR oversight has been that of traffic ingress & egress…
The Airport Planning Commission should have constructed 2 driving tunnels heading East/West from Terminal 3 West to Pershing Blvd (west of LAX property) and from Pershing Blvd, East to Terminal 4.
Of course not, it's not completed yet😂
The point of many of the improvements is to not have people drive their vehicles into the horseshoe.
I've been to JFK, ORD, DTW, DFW, LAX, SAV, SEA and ATL. LAX is the worst airport in the US.
8 airports isn't a lot of context. You haven't even been to all three major NYC airports. I've been to 30-40 in the U.S. and I'd have to think about the worst, acknowledging that it's completely subjective and dependent on when one was there.
LA can give tents to the athletes and spend the night outside the venues
Throwing huge money into LAX has been like putting "lipstick on a pig". Throughout the years, no vision and no real improvements except making it look pretty. It still sucks and most people do anything possible to avoid it. Luckily, living in Orange County we now have a much improved Long Beach airport in addition to John Wayne. Forced to go up to LAX over the holidays to pick up and drop off my daughter. A horrible experience.
Fly to Ontario,CA or Santa Ana instead.
THE LAX?????? come on AI....this is annoying...
Ugliest monorail I ever seen. Like automatic busses on a track. FFS.
As a L.A. native I'd still prefer to pass on the Olympics to much inconvenience !
Lol.
Long vapid comment
Visitors will have a tour of homeless camp on the streets in LA.
AI slop
The people mover has been delayed yet again into late 2027. 🤦🏻♂
No, it's opening in January 2026 or maybe sooner. They're already moving the test trains onto the tracks. Testing will start this year. Maybe it already has started.
And what are they gonna do about all the homeless all the crime the super high prices.
That was Biden, genius. 😂
@mrxman581 idk what world you living in but it was trump.
@RatfromNadeaust In the real world. It's Biden in the video making the comment about a 3rd world country. Clean your eye glass readers.🤣
Bradley tunnel to west gates. Wear good walking shoes. Moving sidewalks usually in op. No shuttles. Up and down stairs. And if you are one of the last flights. Escaltors are turned off. Will still be a garbage airport in 28. Just with more people for those 4 weeks.
You are telling me the Dems are gona over spend? What a joke!
Those so called upgrades have already been outdated before its even finished.
if they really want to improve, learn from China and learn from Dubai or even Seoul or Singapore.
LAX airport continues to disappoint and will do same despite significant investments in upgrades. From immigration to customs, the quality of service remains among the worst, leaving much to be desired.
...Sorry, LA is NOT Ready for the global events... Not even an World cup play in '26 😂
LAX is the WORST airport. It's a slum where airplanes land.
LAX it is a bad transportation they don’t stop most of the time always out of service, sucks man
I just flew LAX and it's so ugly
I'm thinking about applying for an L.A. area job next year. 🏗️👷🏼
LAX is so pathetic !
