The largest ever construction project, the Interstate Highway System in the United States, was being built when I was a kid. We took for granted that the USA was building bigger, higher, and faster things than anywhere else in the world. This was at a time when Dubai was a desert town, and Shanghai was basically shacks along the waterfront.

I know I'm fighting a losing battle but I STILL think it's wrong to include a non-habitable structure, like a spire or telecom mast, in the height of a skyscraper. If I had my way, this measurement would be restricted solely to the height of the roof of the top habitable floor. One World Trade Centre is referred to as NYC's tallest building, but seeing it compared with Central Park Tower, that status seems absurd.

It's like the entire world is in a fight to see who can create the biggest target in the world.
I almost sympathize with all the people out there having a panic attack trying to figure out
which one deserve to be awarded the biggest X marks the spot sign.
