  • I give you my thoughts on what Stellantis needs to do to help Dodge succeed in the future. There are 3 critical things that Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, RAM must do in order to regain the trust and the business of their brand loyal enthusiasts that have sworn them off. I tell you why these things are so important to Dodge staying relevant in the years to come.

I don't really think Stellantis really cares about the Mopar brand. Otherwise they wouldn't have killed the hemi and the Challenger. Why would they kill off a top selling car? That would be like Ford killing the Mustang. They should see the writing on the wall. EV's aren't selling. Americans want cheap gas and fast cars.

What would you have them do? Do you know how much they were paying Tesla every year? Imagine trying to win a race where your competitor starts 1/4 mile ahead of you.

    • @NXT_LVL
      @NXT_LVL 2 месяца назад +10

They care because the Hemis were selling like hotcakes and were the only thing dodge was making. Until they were forced to discontinue it and the Hemi Brotherhood clutch on their pearls crying that Dodge is doomed because Stellantis doesn't care. No becuase Dodge refused to "sell out" as the crybabies say. Before Daimler bought Chrysler pre-2000, the last version of the Charger L-Body from 1981-87 had a 1.6 L Peugeot or a 1.7 L VW sourced I4, or a 2.2L I4 Turbo. Post merger, you got the current chassis Chargers thanks to Mercedes. The Viper was thanks to Shelby giving Ford the finger, Iacocca and Dodge owning enough of Lamborghini to derive the V10 that became the 8.0L Viper plant.
As for the EVs well, its the scam everyone has fallen for and the brands have to do to not get fined for having their fleet above that targeted overall number set by the EPA. 36-40mpg and 40% EV by I believe 2028?

Here's what needs to happen (in my opinion) - and in this order. 1) Elect a new president. 2) Immediately change EPA regulations so automakers have flexibility to build what people want. 3) Offer the I-6 as the new base engine. 4) make the 6.2 and 6.4 V8s optional 5) Abandon (or greatly restrict) the electric option since it's obvious nobody above 10-15% of the market wants them. 6) Price all of the above at reasonable prices. This would be a winning formula, but I have little confidence in the current management of Dodge/Stellantis that any of this would happen

My 2019 Charger Scat Pack Plus was $51K fully loaded with every option besides the dynamics package, I paid $44K for it brand new with 3 miles on it.. I recently asked about the 1320 edition Charger scat pack to see how much it was at a local dealer and they were selling it for high $60K range and I was like O_o definitely not worth $70K after taxes.. (from Michigan 6% tax) ((I also have access to EP pricing and even with EP it doesn’t help as much anymore))

You nailed it ! Dodge dealerships are, IMO, the biggest issue. Dealerships have always been a “sticky” part in the auto purchase process, however in the last few years it’s become more prevalent. I wanted a challenger RT or scat but withall the B.S coming from the dealerships, I went and bought a Mustang. Sold my RAM pickup and bought a f250. Completely done with Dodge and the headaches they are causing in the auto market. Keep up the good work thanks for posting this.

I've had enough of Dodge I was a life time customer with Dodge, I wanted to upgrade to a Hellcat from a scatpak, so now I am a proud owner of a Camaro ZL1 at MSRP, no matter what I tried to do I could not get a Hellcat at MSRP. I was Mopar die hard kind of guy but Dodge got to greeted with Markups and they should have done something about those dodges dealership with outrageous markups. Shape on them.

I am a long time Moparite. I know the Hemi is short lived and the reasons why. One of the first Mopars in my family when I first started driving was a Slant Six Valiant. I am actually excited about the Hurricane. My wife is making noises about the Wagoneer. I would like try the Twin Turbo Six but I am afraid the car will be way more than we can afford. We have a '21 Grand Cherokee L with a lot of life left in it so a new Wagoneer is probably just a pipe dream. We are both retired, comfortable our income but it won't cover an $80,000+ car, she likes her bells and whistles.

A turbo v6 based on the 87 Buick grand national engine would work. They performed better than modern 6.4 hemis and sound great with the right exhaust. A modern version would be epa friendly off boost. They could even tune in green from factory but allow easy retuning for the aftermarket.

I think you alluded to it in a prior video, but they had opportunity to bring back the Stealth to fill the gap. They could have taken the power plants from the Alfa Giulia or a variant of them which seem to be reliable engines and put together a halo car to replace the Viper and Challenger.

I have been a Mopar enthusiast since I was 18 years old when I bought my first 70 Dodge Charger that was a one owner with 53k original miles back in '86. I have saw them go through the rotten years up through the glory years and have owned a lot of Dodges and Plymouths over the years. Most recently a 2010 Challenger R/T, '14 Ram, '17 Scat Pack Challenger and currently a '15 Ram R/T. I also currently own a '67 Dodge Dart hot rod, but have decided that after these are gone, I will not purchase another Stellantis product. I have watched them destroy the CDJR brand and am going with the import models going forward starting with the very soon purchase of a Toyota. So long Stellantis, not been so nice knowing you!

I would absolutely agree with all of that and to make a new V8 that is fuel efficient. They could make a new Magnum V8 which was smaller than the Hemi, I’d say a supercharged 4.7 would be the best choice so it keeps the supercharged V8 goodness, and it will bring everyone back to Mopar. Just my thoughts but I’m sure they’ll do what you said

I bought a 2016 charger with a MSRP of 39995. I negotiated the sale price to 29995. They were selling the hell out of chargers and challengers. Like you said X, the dealerships want MSRP plus they add a 600$ service fee. Total BS. They can keep them cars until they are ready to offer a good deal. Enough is enough

I was going to buy a scat pack back in late 2019 when they were $42,900($38,050 after $4850 discount) but didn’t pull the trigger because I could find an orange one. I got the itch to buy one again in late 2021 but the prices had gone through the roof. I might end up buying one if there ends up being a ton a repos and the price craters on used ones.

Hi Racer X, great content as always. I can't help but wonder if Stellantis is deliberately trying to run the MOPAR brands down to the point where they will stop using those nameplates, and just roll the desirable products into their European portfolio brands, like the Charger / Durango / Hornet roll up into Alfa , roll the Ram and Jeep Wranglers under a different Euro brand etc..

This is a no brainer without even watching.
    1) Build a better quality product
    2) Price them accordingly, so make them cheaper as they’re worth much less than what they’re currently asking.
    3) Bring back some reliability. Having 0 resale value other than special models means when your customer needs a new car they need to be able to sell or trade the one in they have. Leaving them with the option but to have their Journey towed to a junk yard or a $500 trade in is next to no incentive to buy a Dodge product.

One simple solution is to get rid of stealerships....make it an order online or a building with only a couple of vehicles for each model that you just order all options with a kiosk and only have to deal with a person to do paper work....all of these dealerships are gouging customers also in their parts, service along with sales....got a price for the green belt for my 19 challenger hellcat redeye and it was over $750.00....used the gates number and it was $68.00...their prices are outrageous.

I used to dream of owning a Charger scatpack wide body, but when they announced all of the EV, they killed the Hemi and raised all of the prices through the roof. My car choice now is a 5.0 Mustang. I have never been a Ford guy, but for the money and horsepower at this point, you can't beat them.

People need to put complaints at the department of motor vehicles as that's where the dealerships get their license. Once someone lodges a complaint there the dealerships jump. This info needs to be said more.
