Wood Frame House build - Portugal - Summer update

- Second week in July is hopefully the start of the big push to get the house completed. There is still so much to do, but we have furniture, appliances and fittings etc booked or on order, so we need to make big strides to get everything finished. We have unfortunately had to extend the build permit again! It’s frustrating for us and also for the architects and the builders. What we are finding in Portugal is that the build process is frustratingly protracted and intermittent. Definitely not the same experience as we had back in the UK, but you need to keep reminding yourself this is not the UK or the US or Canada either.
So we just hope that now the house is closed up and the windows installed, that the relevant trades can be programmed in in the proper order so that it continues at pace. That being said, the builders are on holiday for the last two weeks in August! So watch this space to see if the build goes to plan.

Love your house...we live in Niagara falls Canada...but I'm originally from Caldas the Rainha. Love to see it .next time I visit Portugal.

Just ask them to cover the door with tape and some cardboard
They did come and re wrap them in plastic. But card would have been more environmentally friendly. We are trying to use materials that can eventually be repurposed, recycled or naturally decay, but needs must 👍
