    My accidental purchase of this 1993 Acura Integra LS was a good one. It fits in very well with my Legends and proves to be as reliable. Expect to see more of this little guy as I continue restoring it.
    As always, feedback is welcomed. I'm a RUclipsr in training, so go easy on me. Thanks for watching!

      Thanks you sir! The shift knob was very smooth, my hand kept slipping off of it when throwing it into 5th. Small annoyance but I had to think about it every time I went to 5th. If I end up putting a short throw shifter, maybe it'll make sense then. Thanks for the subscribe, I'll be sure to have other Honda's and more on my Integra as I go along but expect a bunch of random cars as well.

      Tyson's awesome just far away, if a collab is possible down the road, we'll surely do it.
      As for the spoon shifter, I loved the way it looked but it was so rounded and smooth and 5th gear is a long throw, my hand would slide off of it and I'd miss my shift almost every time. It was aggravating but once I switched back to stock, I'm shifting like a champ. Glad you approve of my DA otherwise buddy!

      I perfected stick on an RSX Type-S when those first came out, definitely a fun car. I love these old style designs. I really think Acura should take both this and the Legend and bring them back with only minor tweaks to modernize it, cause I'd sure as hell buy it.

    altek nice video! I had a 93 Integra just like yours but mine didn't have any modifications at all. Everything original! Sold it with over 240,000 miles original motor in it and still passing the smog check with no problems. Years back I had a 4 door 1989 Hatchback Acura Integra LS, this one was way better than my 93 Integra in many ways. Still up to right now that I'm typing these words kind of aches in my heart by getting rid of it. I've seen a few of them around but only two doors. This 4 door Integra 89 and a1968 2 doors Datsun 510 had been to me best cars I'd ever had. The 93 Integra although it's a beautiful car and it wasn't modified at all, it was in my opinion too low, didn't like the steering wheel that much, replacing the clutch was a pain, the rest it's just fantastic. I was also very afraid to wake up in the morning and not see it park by my house. That's one of the reasons had me decide to sell it. Used to love driving it on the highways. Since we have beautiful landscapes here in Santa Barbara CA. Overall Acuras are really good vehicles, very reliable, nice body line and driving handle. If you ever get a chance to test drive a 4 door 89 Integra, you will probably end up wanting to add one to your collection.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  5 лет назад +1

      Then maybe I shouldn't test drive an 89 Integra, I can't keep buying cars, it's getting out of hand, haha. Love to hear success stories like this. You can say that 240,000 miles is still young, proper care can make that last a hell of a lot longer I'm pretty sure. Now that 68 Datsun sounds like an awesome little car. I get what you mean, it's hard letting a good car go. I still regret selling my 95 Maxima, although ugly, it ran great and was easy to maintain. Lucky you to live in CA, some of the best roads I've ever driven were out there. I'm happy you like the video, I hope to have more on my Acura trio in the future.

    I had this same car years ago and had a lot of fun in it. Then a pretty hefty deer took his buddy up on a challenge and tried me at night, and totaled the car, and himself. He was so determined to wreck the car that he trashed the front of it, did an impressive pivot, and slammed the side of it, too. I would've given him about a 9.5, but he didn't stick the landing. Loved the car before that night, though...lots of fun for what it was.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  3 года назад

      I didn't think it was possible to paint such a vivid picture of a fight between deer and an Integra, but kudos my friend, you did it. I had a friend who picked a similar fight with deer in his Miata, and yes of course, he lost. Deer 2, cars 0.

    This video takes me back to the classic Honda-Tech days. Especially when you describe the security. Pretty much the reply to every thread about theft, "if they want it, they'll take it." Great video on the DA, subbed.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  5 лет назад +1

      I'm glad you liked it and thanks for the subscribe. I've come to terms with the fact that it'll be loaded on a box truck if someone wants it that badly. I can easily say the anxiety of that is the worst thing about owning it.

    • @BESTNOODLEREVIEWS
      @BESTNOODLEREVIEWS 5 лет назад

      @@Altek1 I've got a 98 Integra myself, and do park it outside as well as daily drive it. One security tool I highly recommend is the AutoLock. Just throw it on the clutch pedal and not many thieves are trying to waste time with that thing IMO.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  5 лет назад

      A few people recommended that, it's not expensive at all so I'm going to order one today. I'm still trying to figure out if that would prevent thieves from being able to flatbed it away, doesn't seem like it but being afraid of driving it because of that is becoming silly.

    I absolutely love the DA9 Integra. I had 3 of them. Looks like yours has spoon replica wheels. With the coilovers you have or had are a great addition and you're supposed to swerve around bumps, divots, and pot holes to avoid your back hurting like you say it does. My 93 integra sat much lower and I put a vtec head from a civic si with Type R replica pistons and Cams along with alotta other goodies to put a bigger smile on my face. My car ran like a rapped ape. To keep it safe I locked the steering column took my removable spoon steering wheel as well as my ECU. 166k for those is still a baby, good luck and I hope you find more joy outta it....or sell it to me

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  4 года назад +1

      It's quite the looker for sure. The issues with my back hurting are not the bumps and believe you me I avoid them when I can. The seat simply doesn't have enough support but it's only extended drives that become uncomfortable. While my goal was to keep it totally stock, the lack of power is getting to me so I'm considering some options. Sorry to break your heart bud but I'm not selling it, but I do like your gusto. Thanks for watching, always happy to hear from people who appreciate the car as much as I do.

      @@Altek1 it needs some work, body is in amazing shape, but someone installed this ugly short throw shifter in it. It's also not running right. And the guy I bought it from says that it dies after running for about five minutes. So I towed it home and now it's my winter project! I'm hoping to Make this into a really nice summer car as it snows too much here to drive a beauty like this in the winter. Oddly enough it has auto locks and windows

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  5 лет назад

      That's a great winter project for sure. The power locks and windows were available on the higher models, the LS was only power windows. Hopefully it's just a bad fuel pump or something simple, but at least it turns over. The shifter should be an easy change too. How many miles on it? I'm just hitting 167,000.

    • @SnDHitman
      @SnDHitman 5 лет назад

      @@Altek1 yeah I'm sure it's something simple especially since it does start and run and drive. I'm from Canada actually so the vehicle is in km. It's almost at 300,000km but he claims the engine only has about 80,000km. But it's a beautiful car and I may upload some videos to show progress and hopefully get some outreach from people who know and love these older integras

    • @Altek1

    Dam I saved my EM1 from my bro in law he had it he was the second owner and had it modified. My sister made him sell it I bought for cheap off him since we are family lol and I saved it I made it completely stock except the exhaust is a greddy and a stock JDM jasma B16a headers and he had blown the OG engine so he put a JDM b16a still the same engine except higher compression other then that everything else is stock your videos are good

      Nice, I like the body style of the EM1, it's clean. Smart way to pick one up too, hah. Is the car not too loud like that? I don't mind loud if there's a lot of power behind, but in this instance, my Integra was obnoxious no matter what RPM and didn't move quickly enough to justify it. Thanks for watching bud!

    Great video for my favorite model Acura/Honda. I love this generation Acura's including the Legends. I believe that the Legends were ahead of their time in many respects. While there are some cons to this model Integra as you mention in the video, none the less it is still a fun little car to drive. You have a great starting point to restore the car. There is a forum for enthusiast of this generation Integra located at g2ic.com. You can obtain a significant amount of knowledge about the models, general problems, and DIY's. I myself am one of the enthusiast and have been since I owned my first one back in the mid nineties. I am in the process of restoring my 1993 GS-R (my third of this model) to near stock to the best of abilities. I did want to mention about the cup holder issue with these cars. There were 2 dealer options for cup holders. 1 was an tray insert where the ash tray slides in into place. The other is actually in the armrest that you have, provided that they were not removed or broken. Once you open the "lid" to the armrest, the cup holders unlock from the underside of the armrest lid. They are "pop up" cup holders that hold a standard soda can or a small drink cup at best. I hope that you are successful with the restoration and I look forward to seeing more videos on the Integra. If you need any help with your Integra I would love to help.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  5 лет назад

      It's always great to hear from a fellow enthusiast. I liked this car ever since I was younger, a friend of mine had one all hooked up and at the time I thought it was just the fastest, coolest looking thing. I hope I didn't come across as disliking the car, I'm honest with its drawbacks but I really have a blast when I take it out.
      Great find on the 93 GS-R, the extra power must really liven it up. I get the reason why people upgraded these in the past, but stock is the way to go in my opinion. Most of today's low end new cars can wipe the floor with the Integra, so as much fun as it is to drive, it simply isn't a race car and the money it would take to get there isn't realistic.
      I have a cup holder that clips into the glove box, which isn't ideal if you have to use the glove box. Also, since the suspension is so stiff, the drink just flies out anyways. I think I'll track down the ash tray replacement since that's the most feasible option.
      I'll check out the forum too, thanks a bunch for the info and thanks for watching.

    When i saw u on scotty random, first thought was, where is his channel^^
    But i got to admit, the removal of exhaust and suspension makes me sad. Its a sign of gone carculture these cars fitted perfectly in. Specially the Red color reminds me at a documentation about street racing from the 2000s with a guy who cut its springs to save money. stupid mod but good looking car.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  4 года назад

      Glad you digged the video, or car, enough to seek out my channel. I'm starting to lean more towards modding it but I want it done right. The direction the previous owner was going in was just a loud slow car that couldn't make it over a speed bump. I ended up not getting rid of the suspension since softening it up makes it much more forgiving to drive. I've seen a couple examples online that are giving me some ideas, and once I have some disposable cash, I think it's going right into the engine. I sure as hell won't be cutting springs and risking my life, but I do want to have too much horsepower that I just spin the front wheels all day. Hopefully you see a follow up video down the road with some fun mods, but in the meantime, except a follow up on what it's like to drive as a daily, i'm working on that one now. Thanks for commenting bud!

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  5 лет назад

      Hey bud. The Yonaka wasn't THAT bad but on an entirely stock car, it was slightly embarrassing since it really had no power to justify the noise with. Not to mention when I downshifted, it had an ungodly drone that was coupled with rattling against the body of the car in a few places, so even when I got used to the exhaust noise itself, the chatter around it was too much. I changed the rubber hangers and it improved slightly, but not enough to keep. On top of all of that, I'm getting my Subaru WRX back from the shop soon... Now that s-o-b is going to be loud with power to justify the noise :)

      I'm pretty sure Walker is the brand I used on mine. I found an OEM part for about $100 but shipping was like $150 so I said eff that. Can't recall the site though.

    Hello sir, I need some advice , what would be the best election for a reliable car. 1999 Acura CL 2.3 automatic. With 153000 miles. clean tittle original engine, or 2001 Honda Prelude Type SH ,manual trans, with a junk yard engine with 123000 miles. Hard Decision if I had the money I will buy both and start my own private collection !! haha

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  5 лет назад +1

      Hey bud, I'm not too sure how the long term reliability is for the CL, but just based on what you told me, I'd be more comfortable with a bit more miles on an engine than a junk yard motor. I'd say if the current owner has good maintenance records and the car is in good shape, I'd check on the forums for any known problems first, then go with the CL. On the other hand I'm a fan of the Prelude and especially manual of course, but I'd really have to see the car to make a judgement call. Hope that helps!

      Altek both cars look in and out in excellent shape. But yes the Prelude have a junk yard motor . Ready to be instal on Monday. Also have a new timing belt and water pump.

    • @Altek1
      @Altek1  5 лет назад +1

      Do you know how many miles the junk yard motor has? Unless you really trust the shop doing the work, I'd go towards the Acura.

    • @ragadallas1982
      @ragadallas1982 5 лет назад +1

      Junk Yard engine have 123000 miles and still in the car tomorrow they removing the motor to do the swap. also the mechanic doing this is really good. he knows what is he doing , but yes the Acura is only 1 owner and everything is original with also all documentation of maintenance (Acura), both cars are for sale as is for $3000 cash, so I need to make up my mind before next Tuesday.

      Did you make a final decision? Knowing the Acura is a single owner car with maintenance records, kinda hard to turn down.
