- You can buy a NEW Honda Civic Type R and have a fast FWD performance car from the factory. LHT Performance wants to help you build a faster car and have something very unique. This 2001 Acura Integra GS-R is a resto-mod of sorts. LHT Performance restored certain aspects back to new stock condition but in other areas used their engineering know-how to create a FWD performance car that would perform better than anything brand new from the Honda factory. Buddy has a 06’ TL. 236,000+ miles and it’s quiet as a cadillac when its on and it pulls like a brand new car when he opens it up. And these 06’ TL’s are known to top out 150 mph.
Its alright, not THE best. Check out “vasile garage” channels integra or “4 bangers production” channels integra to name a few.

In 90's these car designs were led by engineers who were involved in actual racing in Japan. Todays car designs are led by marketing guys, no wonder they have similar shapes.

Integra and Prelude were some my favorite Honda coupes from the 90's.
Even the V6 Accord Coupes were quite good as well. Each were styled and designed off the engineering prowess demonstrated in the Original Acura NSX Type R. The EDM Accord Euro Type R is a personal favorite

Whenever someone tells me why would they ever get a car like this when they could just get something faster/nicer, your reaction to driving this GSR is the perfect answer. !!!!
I had an 01 Integra GS-R for 17 years. Was hands down the most favorite car I have ever owned. I even still have dreams about driving it around. Not only was it fun to drive, it was reliable. The only thing I ever changed on it besides the typical fluids/brakes/belts/plugs, was a front wheel bearing. Literally that's the only thing that ever went wrong with the car in 17 years. Never once broke down.
I drove her hard too, properly of course. It would scream 7k+ at least once almost every time I drove it. The Integra, I'd argue, is probably one of the best *overall* cars ever to be made and the third gen was nothing short of perfection.
Imagine this Integra sold new today same body just updated with today's tech. Led lights and an infotainment system. On that note Honda should just have make a retro line eg hatch em1 type R same bodies just updated tech.

True. Because all cars nowadays looks like an egg on wheels... I am glad that they didn't change the exterior design of the new Skyline (you don't need to change something that is perfect looking)... But the fcked with the look of the new BRZ(the 2020 model was original and perfect, they didn't need to redesign it but they did)...
That 1.8 liter inline 4 VTEC sounds super awesome, I even got excited when I hear the turbo spools up and fludder with the engine sound...! Put a 😃 on my face every time.

I've owned a 190 WHP - 1995 Milano Red Integra GSR and loved it....won many street races in it too back in the day...this review brought back many good memories
500AtTheWheels 190whp integra was a good enough power to weight ratio do do some real damage 12-15 years ago.
preludeF20Bking I agree.... I sold the car in 2003 and enjoyed it very much. I did a lot of weight reduction on it as well, and I was beating some Type R swapped, all motor 92-95 Civic Hatchbacks
When I looked at the outside my heart skipped a beat. When you popped the hood my heart stopped! This thing is such a beautiful modern classic!

I was fortunate to drive a modified b18c Integra GSR with 275whp and it was NA.. It screamed to 10k rpm. What a car. It ran consistent 12s.
If only all Hondas were this clean. Love that sound!
If everyone was rich most would be this clean.. If an average Joe attempted this build, you are looking at $20K easy with labor. A full Titanium twin loop exhaust with welding and fabrication would cost you $3K+ at least for a normal person paying for all the labor. A turbo kit like that with a good turbo and good piping is $8K at least if you include labor. A really good quality paint job? $1500+(can be a lot more depending).. Trans rebuild or upgrades? $1k+.. Suspension? Another $1K.. The list just goes on and on..
@ spot on man, I spent 10k alone on building my gsr turbo integra, built sleeves , rods and pistons, injectors, turbo, pipings, wiring, tuning, omg such a work man. All that just to daily 300whp
As a tampa native I've know about LHT for a long time. They've been at the forefront of the honda scene here for a long time. This car is the epitome of JDM restomod. I got to zonk you on a couple items though Joe. You didnt call out the fact that this car has a full Jdm front end swap with the one piece headlights. You even stopped to mention the side markers on the fenders but not the fact that the USDM integra didnt have them. Only because he had the front end swap (including fenders) were they there. You briefly mentioned the 5 lugs but again didnt really talk about the fact that those were converted (probably from a type r). Love that you're doing reviews like this but you missed the coolest parts of the car.
This is one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen and heard. It's just perfect.

What’s stopping Honda from re-releasing these legends! We know they would instantly make sales. Call it the icon line or legendary series. Exact specs and everything. Should even come out cheaper than current vehicles

Raiti's Rides I had an integra GSR for 8 years from 2001-2009 sold it and now regret selling it, I recently bought a 2000 GSR this year and love it, it’s all stock besides springs and cold air intake. These cars are something else especially when you crack that VTEC, Honda doesn’t make them like they use to anymore
@@DrBrainrape I bought a 95 GSR 3 years ago because it was the car I wanted in high school and it brings a smile to my face everytime I drive it. I hit VTEC every chance I get.

I really miss my GS-R. That was my ultimate favorite car ever. Not just because it was my car, but because it was a really good car. I went 174k miles with it until I struck a tree with it in New York. I had taken it across the US country twice. That was a good car. I forgot to mention there was like virtually no maintenance. Change the oil, change the brakes, change the tires. All of the normal stuff you'd do with any car, but that thing was a trooper. It only ended because I was an idiot and I drove home during a storm and I put it into a tree.
It’s a shame you can’t get something like this anymore NA or Turbo small coupe that low to the ground and fun to drive and affordable

Definitely a JDM legend that's affordable, if you can find one that is. I loved the mid 90's to early 2000's look of Japanese cars. Hondas, Acuras, Toyota's. Even the germans like VW and BMW, they all had such a timeless look and they didn't have the rev limiter and silenced exhaust they have now. Great review, Joe.

Back in 2004 when I was 28 years old. I bought a beat up 94 Acura Integra RS. I did an HID ITR OEM genuine front end with a 98 spec engine and tranny. 5 lugs conversion with a DC 5 white Champion white 17 wheels. Acura Integra Oem Optional body kit. Painted the whole car Championship white. ITR jdm srs steering wheel. Red recaro seats etc. i was smoking 🚬 stock V8 mustangs all day lol. I sold the car for $9000. Major regrets!

I have a 2019 type R for about a month and a half now and live in Lakeland Florida so I'm only about an hour away and will like to go check you guys out....do you have a address?
@@AdversaryNemesis1124 NP man.. These performance cars these days are already pushing the boundaries of what is safe for the streets. For a FWD car, the Type R is incredibly fast and handles incredibly well right from factory. Being that it is Turbo charged from the Factory, just some mild tuning with a more freely flowing exhaust could net you 50-60 more hp no problem with very minimal effort. These older hondas need a lot of modification and upgrading to get them power and proper modern performance. And being that you are under Factory Warranty still, I would def try to limit pushing too much power unless you have the money to fix things out of warranty.
Super clean is how you should do it with the Teggy. The visibility and just overall feel of that legend is incredible. 👍👍👍

I had the 2003 Honda SE with this GSR B16 VTECH engine swap. What made me do the swap is when I pulled next to a GSR back in 2003 and the way it just pulled off the line stock was crazy. That moment I knew I gotta have that engine or the car itself. This car is a legend in compact...there’s no conversion about the best JDMs without mentioning the Type R/GSR.
