The fact that this woman is sitting in prison and Casey Anthony is out here living her best life just shows how jacked our justice system is smh.
Literally my exact thoughts!! Our judicial system is totally unfair. And I mean, we are talking about a judicial system that will let an admitted killer walk free simply if the police forget to mirandize them. And a judicial system that can pick & choose what evidence is or is not presented during a trial, when in fact any & all evidence is relevant and should be presented. A judicial system that all it takes for an obvious criminal to walk free is for one single jury member to have the slightest speck of "reasonable" doubt. And on the other hand, there are cases like this where there's all the reasonable doubt in the world and nothing but circumstantial evidence and yet she's convicted & imprisoned for the murder of her husband. A judicial system that will lock up a peaceful, innocent person for years & years for possessing marijuana, but let admitted & repeat rapists & child molesters out in a couple months. A judicial system that for the right amount of money, will let a serial killer walk free on "bond". And the list of unfair judicial practices can quite literally go on for ever. It's sick.

It's amazing how, after all these years, Casey Anthony is still being brought up. That shows what a true perversion of justice that case really was!
If anyone that is in your family or your circle of friends gets murdered. And the police say they want to interview you about it. Just assume you are a suspect and ask for a lawyer. Don't say anything else until the lawyer is present.
That's good advice no matter the reason they wanna talk to you. Don't fall for them making you feel guilty for exercising your right.

The police is not gonna waste their time asking you about the habits of the dearly departed murder victim. They are asking you questions to narrow in on who the murderer might be. And so it doesn't matter if you have a 100 percent alibi. If you answer something in the wrong way or maybe God forbid. You forget to mention something that you don't think is important but the police does. You could be facing a nightmare of your own making by talking without a lawyer present. Once the word lawyer is uttered, the interrogation should be stopped and the detective asking the questions should ask very clearly if she would like a lawyer. Especially because if her right to a lawyer was violated it can lead to issues in prosecution.
She either deserves an Oscar for best performance or she is 100% innocent.

You can put the voice aside but go listen to the other evidence of this case. This women is 100% guilty. There’s a lot of evidence not evident in this interview. Just look into it. If you look into the other evidence you’ll see it too
Hes found naked tied up. She's found nearly naked and tied up hands and feet BEHIND her back. And then these cops interrogate her like this and i truly believe shes innocent. Ive seen an unhealthy amount of interrogations and true crime since the 90s and her story has the ring of truth. I feel for her

I agree 💯 there treatment is sooo bad on her, she did ask for a lawyer way back in the video, I still can't make out if she has murdered her husband but I don't think she was treated fairly I'm from England and yea of course British cops don't always treat people fairly but American cops or should I say detective's are definitely not treating her fairly, anyway that's my opinion.

It’s clear these detectives have no concept of chronic illness. He acts shocked she uses a cane, is in constant pain, and uses a jacuzzi frequently. Among other things… she seems to have appropriate responses. I haven’t finished it, but I hope she gets an appeal.
Same goes for all the comments saying she's guilty. No concept of the impact of her illness. She was once paralyzed in half her body, lupus, seizures, and double hip replacement. Who was found behind a bathroom barricaded by a door tied up. But they're 'experts' in body language and can tell she's lying.
The innocence project has picked up her case to help her.
I have multiple chronic illnesses and my husband is my primary caretaker... I just cannot believe she did this... the idea of losing your caretaker is literally the most terrifying thing for someone in our position. And I can tell he REALLY cared about her... she is mentioning alternative treatments that he was researching for HER (She mentions the Gerson Protocol). I can also bet the time in the jacuzzi was for her benefit. My husbands runs me a bath to help with my pain a lot. I just really can't wrap my head around this one....

I completely agree as I am in the same boat, and as you stated, our husbands/caretakers are literally our life support at times... I do not believe for one second that she was able to 1. Fight through all of her ailments to do this, and 2. Take out her soul mate, her caretaker, her beloved husband!! It just doesn't add up!😒😔 These "detectives," our so-called "justice system," etc. Got it wrong on this one!!!

You can't say I think I should get a lawyer technically. If you are going to ask for a lawyer you need to stop and tell them you are done talking because you are requesting for a lawyer.

Sandra Melgar is her full name, and the Innocence Project in Texas is already representing her. I agree with most of you, she sounds innocent, distraught over her loss. These detectives already had their minds made up before even before the interrogation started!! what a shame!

I’ve watched this interrogation several times and i really think she’s innocent.
She is! Okay so Sandra Melgar. There is new DNA evidence of blood from the knife attack, on their safe that matches an unknown MALE not related to Sandra and/or her husband!

The interrogation should've ended the moment she asked foe a lawyer. How they got that past the court is insane.

No she didn't ask for a lawyer. Saying you might need a lawyer isn't a request. "I want a lawyer" would be. It's absolutely fine to do that. Also: never talk to cops if you're on the suspect list. It might make you look weird, but that's a whole lot better than moving to a prison long term.
@@rebel4466 semantics. when someone says "i think i want a lawyer" or something like that, they should at the very least clarify and ask the person to confirm whether they are officially requesting one or not. these guys just completely ignored what she said and kept asking questions.
@@rebel4466I may be wrong, but I thought she said "I think I need a lawyer". Now that's a bit ambiguous, because there are two ways to take it. It could mean, 'I might need a lawyer, but I'm not sure' OR it could mean "I do need a lawyer... that's what I think". The word *'think'* doesn't necessarily convey ambivalence or indecision. Effectively, the second interpretation is a definitive resolve that a lawyer should be present. It's not explicitly asking for a lawyer, but nor should you have to. The implication that you want one, or believe you need one, is (or should be) enough to know that it is your desire, preference and wish that there be one present.
IMHO at the very mention of a lawyer, they should back off and ascertain if they are clear to proceed or not. There should be no coercion or prying tactics to trick the suspect into re engaging. 'Lawyer' should be like the safe word in a BDSM session, that prevents any further action taking place (or so I've heard). 😜

If your Mother and her new Boyfriend you didnt like, was the only 2 people in a house, and your Mom was killed, i am sure you would want cops like this. Or even better, if your only son was killed while he was with your ex-boyfriend "the Father", you would want cops who kept asking for information. And you would see Nothing wrong with it. That is why not all people can become cops, because it takes alot to do what is needed. You think we would get anywhere if all cops just asked people: "did you do it?" and when they got the first "No" then case closed. ?
Edit: I am NOT saying she did it, i am NOT saying anything about what happend, just saying that cops need to ask and ask and keep asking and then ask again. Had she at the end of the video said: "Okay, i did it, he pissed me off" you would not write what you did. That is my point.

Even if she is released, our Government and Judicial system is still corrupt as hell. There may be some decent people that work in those establishments, but at the core, they have been proven to be unjust in many ways. Just look at the unnecessary wars the United States have been in! As an ill woman, people naturally don't believe us or our limitations. We live life feeling like we are not enough and a burden to begin with.

I feel so bad for this woman. They set their sights on her right from the beginning of her interrogation. To me her story matched every time they asked her to repeat it and it is ludicrous to believe that a woman in her condition could over power a man that is perfectly healthy and stab him 50 times. I can't believe that a jury would convict her when the prosecution could not find a motive.

@@FLo-jc7ig There are a lot of inconsistencies in this case. Her husband's immediate family thinks she is innocent.
Sandra was in the closet for at least 15 hours probably more, during this time she urinated and defalcated on herself.
Her hands were not tied in a way that she could have done by herself ( the prosecution demonstration was not the same as how she was tied).
The police took Sandra from the crime scene to the station for questioning, they kept her for HOURS, this was AFTER 15+ hours in the closet.
Sandra was on multiple medications for seizures, lupus, RA, ect. Some days she needed a cane to walk.
There were several home invasions in the area during the same time.
The prosecutor had been in some trouble previously and this was her “comeback” trial.
The prosecutor and jury foreman became close friends after the trial and even got together to watch coverage of the case at the prosecutors home....
When the police think you are guilty they get tunnel vision. She should have demanded a lawyer from the beginning. The innocence project has picked up her case. Peace
If she got the first stab close to is heart from behind,which could have happened since he was in his closet getting dressed or undressed, and then very quickly stab him again and again, etc, she very quickly could have gotten the upper hand.

As someone that has seizures I can attest to the validity of her not being more panicked or suspicious about waking up and being in the closet. So many times I have woken up or sort of came to in weird places doing weird things. And often I will instantly be embarrassed or become afraid that I have done something awful and just go and hide and fall asleep due to exhausting nature of the seizure itself. I have come to eating candles, nail polish and raw onions that I have chopped up without being conscious. I have taken a bunch of change and pushed them into a container of margarine and took out every slice of bread covered them in countrytime lemonade powder and put it all back in the package. I have walked around naked and then try to take my dog for a walk, thankfully she knew that I was not ok and dug in her heels when I got to the road and woke me up before I was able to walk naked down the street and past my ex husbands house lol. I will operate as though I am in a parallel universe reacting to things only i can see and not take in everything that is actually real and happening.
Anyway I am extremely appalled that this woman could even be considered capable of committing this crime due to the level of strength required to carry out such a horrifically violent crime.

I can relate somewhat. I don't have seizures, but I have debilitating migraines that I've have become progressively worse over the years. I have to take a several medications daily, throughout the day for the rest of my life just to still experience daily headaches, and about 3 migraines each week. Due to the migraines affecting my brain over the past 20+ years and side effects of the meds, my body constantly feels weak & extremely tired all the time. My joints always ache, as well as my bones (no lie, I can literally feel my thigh bones hurting so badly some days that I have to pound on them to try and get some type of "relief"). My memory is SO bad now that I literally forgot how old my son was the other day.... I was so upset about temporarily not remembering that I had to hold back tears. And on top of those side effects, when a migraine still breaks through, the pain is so intense sometimes that I kid you not, I literally cannot move from my bed. The migraine will wake me up due to the pain being so extreme, but I can't do anything to relieve it because my body is paralyzed from the pain. I can't move my head, arms, anything....I'm literally stuck in whatever position I wake up in until I can slowly move my hand over to reach my cellphone to call my son for help who's in the next room over. And that's usually after laying in pain for hours like that because even trying to call out to him for help would intensify the pain so much that I have passed out at times. So I can definitely sympathize with others who have chronic pain & multiple symptoms that are hard to explain because it's not easy for others to understand unless you've gone through it yourself. And even then, each disease can cause different symptoms for each person. I wish the jury had been more informed about the complexities of Sandra's multiple conditions and tried to put themselves in her shoes. Or thought of someone close to them who probably deals with chronic pain themselves.
I have about 7 seizures a year you are disoriented your muscles tighten up you can hit your head and be completely unconscious you wouldn’t be aware of anything. Mine can last up to ten min. Many times I have not woken up until emts have already arrived pricked my finger and taken my blood pressure. You are very tired and confused afterwards. She easily could have seized and her husband left the back door unlocked someone followed him in. They could have raped her and tied her up and she would not be aware. As far as wrap around bruises if someone is tying you up don’t you think they would be holding you down??? Wtf most awful interview I have seen.
Everything she said made Sense not to mention they continued to question her after she said lawyer. I hope she didn’t end up with a public defender.

This is just the interview, it would only be a small portion of the case against you would really need to look at the other evidence to make a decision.

These two detectives are really terrible , I’ve never seen an interrogation like this . This poor woman , the minute they came into the room they were bullying and straight up accusing her ……makes me feel sick watching it.

I feel bad for all the comments. This case is irking me BADLY. “It did come back to a male who is not my father. It does not have any familial match or ties to us," -Liz Melgar, daughter. There was blood on the Melgars safe handle that was never tested. In 2022 in an interview, that’s when Liz said this.
I firmly believe Jamie left the door open when he went to check what the dogs were barking at, and THATS why there was no signs of forced entry. My theory is the intruder held Jamie at gun/knife point and took him where he did. Or maybe Jamie tried to hide & was found.
I do not believe Sandra did it, or at least not alone.
It's good to read something from family vs just opinions (mine included). That has nudged me into delving further into this case than just my usual fuming and p*ssed off comments (albiet, this is the FIRST time I've actually had more than reasonable doubt, and not just raging at the mideveal REID system and a huge amount of ego driven, ignorant, arsehole US cops.

I have Lupus and I can't even get both arms behind my back, someone would have to pull them into place and it would hurt, if I was awake. I don't believe she did this and I think the cops are just bullying her in a roundabout way to make it look like she did. I've seen them treat people better who HAVE murdered someone, giving them cigs drinks and even buying them McDonalds etc. This poor woman could also be experiencing heightened pain in the interview as she is cold and in my experience with Lupus the cold makes the pain worse. I really feel for her.
I have lupus too and there is no way I could commit a murder if I wanted to I would run out of energy after the first blow and she has 3x as many issues as I do!! There's no way she could have done this!

I don’t know about throwing the case out but her lawyer could of had everything after that thrown out. Had she confessed for example it could of been thrown out.
There's a world of difference between "Gee willikers, it sure would be mighty nice if my lawyer was around for this" plus continuing to answer questions, and "I refuse to answer any more questions without the guidance of my rightful legal counsel"
responses to interrogation questions are inadmissable after invoking their right to a lawyer. if a person were to say "I want a lawyer, but by the way I'm guilty" that would not be "thrown out".

one small thing i noticed that i think is telling is that when they asked her "how was the chair blocking the door?" she said "i dont know, i just know he had to move it." an innocent person trapped in the closet probably wouldn't know, so either she was just smart and quick-witted enough to answer that way, or she is really innocent.
Asking about their relationship is invalid! A couple can have a toxic and even an abusive relationship but that don’t make them murderers! And some of the questions-I would be that one that would tell the detective it wasn’t any of their damn business!

The defense then argued a bloody handle of the safe was never tested by law enforcement. Their daughter Rose said in years “new testing on the safe points in different direction”. “It did come back to a male who is not my father. It does not have familial match or ties to us”.
I’ve seen detectives have more compassion for people they know for certain committed murder. Why would she even be a suspect if her hands are tied behind her back. It’s not impossible but it’s unlikely especially if it’s tied tightly.

I've never believed she was guilty and it's beyond me how any jury could convict her. The jury had to have been biased against her somehow because there is OBJECTIVE reasonable doubt in this case. It just doesn't make sense.

She’s explained the situation to the best of her knowledge. The detectives need to do a better job. But who can blame them-It’s not like detectives (or any cops) are hard to come by 👀😜
I find it quite interesting that the demeanor of these detectives was instantly abrasive and void of any sensitivity to what very well could have been a horrific murder and assault. They are firing off question after question often not allowing her to finish her answer before asking another question. They are not even utilizing the Reid technique, starting off by building a rapport with her. It's pretty clear to me that they believed she was guilty and were not only not interested in pursuing any other line of investigation, they focused strictly on her and proceeded with a confirmation bias. Whether she is guilty or not, having tunnel vision of this magnitude could cost them a conviction regardless of the real culprit. Smdh

I have watched this interrogation a few times, and have never believed that she did this. I think she was in shock.
She seems just done, she’s been cooperative and hasn’t really been super defensive and also has answered everything fairly quickly considering. It doesn’t sound or feel like she did it. She sounds tired, she doesn’t even sound like she’s afraid of going to jail, which watching so many until this one, she acts a lot different.

@@alabama.worley I have no idea if she did it or not, but being around all sorts of people, in many type of jobs, working in hospitals, the government, and so on…I may not know 100% but if I knew her personally, I’m 99% certain I could tell. (Like when you know someone has a secret and you know them personally, you can totally tell when someone faking a smile, not really laughing, fake crying, etc. I think life experiences and actually paying attention to what’s happing (like an artist seeing the whole picture and not just letting their eyes glaze over) being professionally trained or just paying attention as your life goes on can help heaps to understand someone’s “tells” or just change in personality. From this video and viewpoint alone, none of us on here know, it’s impossible to know for sure. We can guess and have our own opinions, but no one but her, the one dead, and the evidence can be more than 99% certain.
I think she is innocent however she just had no reaction to this. Either she was in shock or extremely tired. I feel like I have to reach down her throat and pull her words out. Very frustrating. I pray for her and all people falsely imprisoned. This justice system needs a serious overhaul.
They did find some evidence that suggests someone else was in the home they found two dna types that did not match anyone in the family as well as a backpack in the garage that didnot belong to the victims Sandra also had a long history of seizures I do not think she did this

Yeah, it does. It really sucks when women premeditatedly stab their husbands to death, especially after cunningly getting him lulled into a state of pure vulnerability, stripped of clothing in his own home, running in fear for his gun. That really had to suck. Then, when the murderous woman who is an atrocious liar creates a ludicrous and implausible story, with the evidence stacked against her, proven judicially to have committed the crime, the vast majority of people still believe the most outrageous lies without question simply because she claims them. This case truly sucks.

@@alabama.worley What lies are you referring to? I haven't gotten through the complete docu yet but so far I'm not hearing lies. From what I've heard so far there isn't anything that points to her guilt. Her seizure history would be easy enough to check out both medically and with family.

Saying you think you need a lawyer is not enough for the cops to be forced to end the interview. Many decisions have made it clear that you have to explicitly ask for one. I don't recall her being mirandized though.
Close to the end she did state she wanted a lawyer and the one detective was still asking her questions.

If her hands & legs were tied together & 2 people tried to untie her & were unable to, that tells me she probably wasn't the person who tied her.. so either she was tied up by the person that she conspired with to commit the crime or she was a surviving victim of the crime which is rare to survive a murder

I remember Matt Orchard's video about this case. He remained inconclusive, and I agreed with him at the time: from his video, I don't understand how a jury managed to find her guilty beyond any reasonable doubt. I had nothing but doubt after watching it. I'll see how this one tackles the issue.

It really seems like these men have already made up her mind even before they walked into that room and sat down, that she is guilty. She truly seems like she is in just absolute shock. And who can blame her? She seems truthful.
After watching a LOT of interrogations, I have learned (even more so after this video) to NOT SPEAK WITHOUT A LAWYER, even if you're innocent! The constant badgering, repeated questions, and the emotions you go through (I lost my husband... NOT in this way) and know ANGER would soon show up. That's when I'd go off on them....lol

From the initial interrogation, the “investigation” which seemed centered on proving how Sandra could have done this and ignoring clear evidence to the contrary, and finally to a jury finding her guilty “beyond a reasonable doubt!!!”.. this case is appalling.

I have seen several documentaries about this crime and read up on the case. I will watch your video but it’s my opinion that there was enough reasonable doubt that she should not have been convicted. I am torn. Usually, I can spot a guilty party from the first few sentences. I am 43 mins in, and I am just now wavering from innocent to maybe guilty. I also have to consider the drinks, the feel good vibes, the buzz... The medical history. IDK. I will have to watch a little later when I can concentrate more.

Considering that they did pretty much imply after about a half hour that they think she might have done it, it's no surprise she would be defensive and think she isn't being believed. The cops should have waited much, much later to show their hand like that. Now everything she says and her entire demeanor can be chalked up to losing her husband while also being scared that the cops think she did it. If she really did do it, they gave her too many reasons to act the way she is.

They are probably the WORST interrogators I've ever seen. And I've seen some really bad ones. They treated her terribly. They had no idea how to be considerate while fishing for information. They didn't even listen to some of her responses, like when she was explaining how she wakes up with bruises after seizures all the time they kept cutting her off to say show us that and that and that. disgusting. She didn't do it ,how in the world could she do it when she was locked up. Sometimes the system doesn't work and detective are in a tunnel vision.
There are several cases in American history of people tying themselves up or untying themselves. Hell, Houdini could have pulled this stunt off and tied himself up. It's not out of the realm of possibility, and the jury didn't seem to think so either, and that's what really matters.
You can tie yourself up and put a chair on the door so when you close it it locks you in its not that hard really.
But even other people when they found her in the cupboard could not untie her. They had to use scissors to free her. I really don't think she was that agile.

The difference with this lady is she has lupus, epilepsy and other medical conditions. Look up lupus and tell me she was able to tie herself up!

She asked for a lawyer 3 times and they continued to pressure her. Her story never changed. Their interrogation of Sandra was cruel and torturous at the end of this totally ridiculous excuse of an interrogation. I didn’t see the court hearing on this, but I don’t believe she did this. I don’t know how she could have overpowered him enough to stab him 20 plus times then bash his head in. He fought and had dozens of defensive wounds on his hands. I would love to see what the jury saw and heard that convinced them beyond a REASONABLE doubt that she did this.
I feel like repeating "Help me, I need help. Help me. Help me." Trying to prod her to confess that she heard him begging for help was pretty f**** brutal. There should definitely be something against that because she's right, that was torture and it really made me question their tactics. Being fed up shouldn't excuse that utterly disgusting display for the last 10 min or so. I know it's their job but that was ruthless.

My neighbors in SW Houston were victims of a push in robbery, I was walking my dog and saw 3 guys run in and out while I was still there. I’d say a little more than 5 min. Obviously I didn’t know that was happening.

Her conviction is HORRIFIC... I have the SAME medical diagnosis. Hashimotos, epilepsy, and lupus. It can cause EVERYTHING she's exhibiting from memory loss, headache,to the bruising. How she could have tied herself up so well is a mystery as well... all in all it's heartbreaking!
I don't think she killed him. At first I did but I doubt it now. Matt Orchard has a great video that goes against the grain. I highly recommend watching his video too before you make up your mind.

The reason I think she’s innocent is because both the man and woman that found her could not untie her. How could she tie her hands herself so tight they couldn’t untie her. Why did she continue to talk when mentioning to lawyer up? The cops usually stop the questioning about the investigation, only to make small talk to pull the suspect back into the questioning. I believe that this is a questionable tactic that may violate citizens' rights.

We're at a point even the Texas Attorney General admitted judges and juries have become so hyper-partisan the system is corrupted. It would've been unthinkable to hear that from a prominent law enforcement official 10 years ago.
This is why I would never ever speak to the police without an attorney. I mean, G-d help me if anything like this happened to my spouse, but there’s no way in hell I’d be a sacrificial lamb for law enforcement just so they can close a case. Come at me if you want but this poor woman is STILL in prison despite there being massive holes in the state’s case against her, big enough to drive a freaking tank brigade through, but there’s also DNA that indicates her actual innocence.
The DNA doesn't indicate her innocence though. It just isn't hers or his. There are a million ways DNA could show up on an earring, brushing past somebody too close at the store and it sticks to your hair then transfers to the earring. That DNA is entirely inadmissible because it doesn't belong to any suspect, and she's the only suspect there is. If she didn't do it herself, she absolutely without a doubt is involved with whomever did.
