I knew this wasn't something this dude did on the spot. I knew he gotta have many tricks on how to separate from his defenders in order to catch and shoot. I was like....how the heck did he trick that defense ? Dude was a nightmare for his opponents. Never stopped Running. Never stopped tricking the defense. Miller was an specialist.
O yea good call. These guys in there prime on the same team wouldve killed. My man Brent Barry is very underrated, along with Dennis Scott. Shaq, Smitty, Reggie, and Isiah at point= atleast 1 or 2 rings!
@Greg Hubbard I didnt say im building an all star team. You need "journey men" in basketball. They're called role players. These players all knew their role, & wouldve most likely gotten a ring, if put on the same team. The players you mention could never been left open, or they'd shoot lights out, always had to be guarded, unlike todays NBA.. Good shooting, would lead to good ball movement, and would free space for Shaq, Grant, an Isiah to create.
You’re right man. I was thinking about him recently when I saw him on NBATV. He was awesome, like a more versatile Scottie Pippen (less the defensive prowess that Scottie had). There was nothing Grant couldn’t do on both ends of the floor. When he got injured in the 2000 playoffs, he was never the same. I really enjoyed watching him play.
Stop-and-pop is actually pretty hard to get right. It's stopping at the spot, most likely you're back's facing the basket, so you'll need to turn around, feet is positioned where you're shooting form is balanced, or at least to where you get your shot from, and shoot, all within a second or less. This is how Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and a lot of NBA shooters differ from your average ballers playing at the park or rec league. Try doing that, while going over screens, avoiding defenders, with your head going through the actual play, and reading the situation on the court, making sure you get 40+% 3pt pct. (around 3 makes of 5 shots?) every game. A shooter isn't just taking 1000 shots per spot, it's also making the plays so you can make the shot, and making it count when you do get a chance.
Another great guy at this is JJ Redick. He’ll often catch the ball flying off the screen facing away from the basket, jump, and turn midday. By the time he releases the shot, he’ll be squared up to the basket. These pros are just freaking good.
It’s amazing watching these videos:because I’m just imagining how many vids these guys watched a day on how to perfect their position, all the constant just focusing on doing one play over and over during practice, the reading th n of course th real game. No matter your profession this is the only way to perfect your craft to be the best.
JJ Redick is the best in today’s game at exhausting defenders with his constant movement and setting up defenders to use off-ball screens to get his shot off. You can tell he spent his early years watching reggie miller and studying his game. Awesome to see
Will King Reggie Miller is not only the Mastermind in running u off down screens in the interior or cutting and constantly moving around on the perimeter to get a shot attempt, but he efficent and shoots off the dribble, the psychological ways he could get inside the opponents head and he's a very good perimeter and interior and open court defender, full of IQ and knowledge in terms of knowing the history of the NBA and creation of the sport entirely, a student and teacher of the game
A true Legend, been nice to see this man got a ring with the Pacers! Hopefully, he can coach a team before he officially calls quite or Retired from TNT

29larron yes those were great battles in the 1990s between the Knicks and pacers, in particular the 1994 eastern conference finals when y'all Knicks won and then in 1995 the eastern semifinals the pacers win, 2 of the smartest coaches in terms of philosophy ever in Pat Riley and Larry brown, that Frontline battle of Pat Ewing, Charles Oakley, Anthony Mason #rip, Herb Williams, Anthony Bonner, Charles Smith against LaSalle Thompson, Antonio and Dale Davis, Rik Smits, Sam Mitchell, Derek McKey, it was war on the court, even in the backcourt on the perimeter wit Derek Harper, Greg Anthony,Johnny Starks, Hubert Davis against Mark Jackson, a st.johns and New York born product, Vern Fleming, Haywood workman now a NBA referee and Byron Scott, Reggie Miller, me and the pacers fan with spike Lee and the Knicks going at each other, the Knicks,Pacers rivalry was the greatest in sports at that time, u grow a appreciation for both teams and y'all beat us in the 1999 easternconference finals conference finals becoming the only 8th seed to ever reach the NBA finals in league history, it's all love

Thats my all time list if I had to choose, all those guys are nightmare without the ball in their hands...they never stop moving
Reggie Miller always stayed in great shape. Moving without the ball takes a ton of stamina and he made it look easy. What a nightmare for any player to guard. He was a bad dude!
It is simple stuff but also complex stuff at the same time. If you’re not taught these things then you wouldn’t really know. I thought my high school coach kinda sucked back when. Now I know for sure he did suck! He never broke this stuff down. I’m coaching my son and am showing him these simple small things. It’s the little things that make a big difference.

Ray Evans the master at constantly moving around on the perimeter and slashing in the interior and coming off down screens and moving without the basketball to get a shot attempt, such a well conditioned atlete
